4/6/2017. Take only an interest in the "new" signs which were posted. Now, back to the old rules.
Posted the other day:
So, as of today, the new signs say that the Oval is be enjoyed. Apparently the lanyard rule (you know the one that says without a Stuy Town lanyard dog owners will be walked off the property) is still causing Public Safety some discomfort, as they never enforce it, BUT... the "no bicycles" riding around the Oval, which PS didn't enforce, is gone, though the old signs are still up. Yes, now you are allowed to ride your bicycle as long as it is at slow, safe speeds, a rule that is so nebulous as to be laughable.
So you may as well take things in your own hand--or rather management can take things in their own hand. They own this place!
So bike riding is permitted. I suppose dog shit and streams of urine are permitted too, as there is a lax attempt at enforcement. And watch out for those club cars! Speeding, laughing, the workers inside are having a good time getting from here to there, even if it is to the leasing office. Pedestrians (what's that?) beware! Outta the way! Blackstone is here!

I've lived here for about 30 years, and I have to say (haven't I said it before?) that this place is run pathetically. I could use stronger language, but I'm trying to be a good boy.
In addition to the list of things permitted in Pig Sty Town: forms of airbnb, pot smoking in the apartments, lack of PS patrol after dark, deals with the city to fill apartments, open entry into the development, oversized dogs, and crappy annoying amenities.
Oh man, if I get dog shit all over my bike while I'm riding around the Oval I'm gonna be PISSED!
Coming in the Summer of 2017 - StuyStock. NYC's own music festival that will rival Woodstock. Music, drugs, alcohol, bikini babes!! All are invited.*
*By all, we mean students, hotel/airBnB'ers, and dogs. All others need not attend.
Now comes a report that the new sign is wrong.... I've more than had with these clowns. Seriously. Is this any way to run this property???
And don't get me started on the "golf" carts. Or get me started.... How about lazy bastards driving these carts!?
I truly think that the end goal will be to tear down these buildings. I can't see them still standing years from now. All this nonsense is just preparing us to knock these down so that we will embrace "the change."
April 5, 2017 at 9:14 PM why on earth would the politicians allow a middle class community of brick buildings in an 80 acre park exist when there is money to move, coffers to fill, and REBNY to please. The politicians did not want the middle class to exist and certainly not on a piece of waterfront land in Manhattan. The politicians, from city council to city hall to albany to congresswomen and senators, they all want us out as evident by their successes for their real estate friends and their failures for constituents. The politicians failed us on purpose so they can demolish the community and buildings. They let Blackstone Ivanhoe Cambridge bulk lease to keep down the number of permanent residents to help Blackstone Ivanhoe Cambridge save money from having to putout tenants. What a joke, politicians helping billionaires save money. The story of Stuyvesant Town is the story explaining why the Democrats are not in the Oval Office. Still they have not learned their lesson. They are still moving forward with the broker run Airbnb hotels, broker run VRBO and HomeAway hotels, Bridgestreet corporate executive pied a terre hotels, Brickman Brightview golf carts and landscaping, and student dorms until there are little to no permanent residents left to buyout and Paul Weiss can demolish the buildings and build luxury hotel condos because there is not enough luxury hotel condo housing.
These are the three people whose job it is to protect their New York constituent's basic human need of housing and quality of life. These three are the reason Middle Class Stuyvesant Town Peter Cooper Village is gone, and turning into a disneyfied tourist hotel condo resort. They work for the real estate developers and not for constituents, not for public good; they are not honorable public servants. It all traces back to these three at the top positions in New York government. Their story is a dark one.

Gov. Cuomo isn’t the only statewide candidate to benefit from the deep pockets of real estate mogul Leonard Litwin.
Litwin, who has used a variety of business entities to donate $1 million to Cuomo’s re-election campaign, also had the biggest donations to both Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and state Controller Thomas DiNapoli, according to the latest report from Bill Mahoney of the New York Public Interest Research Group.
Litwin gave $240,000 to Schneiderman and $130,000 to DiNapoli, Mahoney found.

This premise, which you repeat over and over again, is ridiculous. I am not defending Democrats who have become corporate centralists (Cuomo is “Pataki Light") but your party, the Republicans, do not believe in ANY residential housing regulations. The party of Trump (Trump-a false populist) is the so called “free market"/Ayn Rand party. They are the true party of the REBNY/RGB world. So your voting option is a false choice. I support true progressives to primary Cuomo/dB and the so called NYS Senate Democrats (The Independent Democratic Conference) who caucus with the Republican NYS Senators. Do you? Did you vote for Astorino in 2014? Did you vote for Paladino in 2010?
My party is not republican although democrats in NY and NYc are ruining our state, city.
Just have to laugh. On the TA site, a resident described an incident she had with the speeding, rude guys in the carts that ride around the development. Of course, the answer from Peter Stuyvesant was "E-mail Rick Hayduk" with the video. That is the pat answer for everything. Doesn't the TA do anything anymore? It is Rick and Blackstone who are responsible for these outrages and we need an outside intervention, duh maybe a tenants association, to address these problems. Am so happy that I didn't pay dues to this ineffective tool of management.

Nice deflection, alas, it is only deflection, not truth.
Those who feel the post is repeat over and over, just dont read it! what an idea. I plan to rinse , repeat over and over the issues and the ripping off of tenants here. Move along now.
Watch your self-named "progressive" Mayor give more million dollar city contracts to his billionaire pals in Watermill as he launches his Ferries and builds his Yacht Docks. He is not giving those city contracts to small businesses, in fact he took it away from a small business at Brookfield Place. Your progressive Democrat is more Republican than a lot of Republicans.

One of the Security guards I spoke to said that they are constantly breaking up these dorm parties. It is really out of control here. There is no stability around here anymore, and the complaints from the pot smoking is beyond belief. Keep up the good work Rick! Change is NEVER gunna come!
This is our building. look at all the carpeting. Not.

I just witnessed 2 bicycle delivery men detained by PS in the oval (6:45pm) it appeared 1 was ticketed and another ones bicycle was being held. Although I didn't inquire about either action it is obvious that the matter is being dealt with. The streams of dog piss & sh*t still ring through in your diatribes, perhaps toning done your rhetoric would help. A stream with illustrate continuous running water, not the case. As far as the sh*t, it's there, it shouldn't be, but it's not the mine field you choose to portray. I wouldn't go as far as calling this fake news, but be realistic, the constant littering, signage pollution, unacceptable human behavior.
Outta the way Airbnb is here too! Airbnb paid hundreds of thousands to the City Council 2012 - 2016 via two lobbyists, one is StuyTown's very own lobbyist James Capalino Capalino & Co! Airbnb pays Capalino & Co to payoff City Council.

PS has certainly given up. I walk home through Peter Cooper every night after 9pm, and I have not seen ONE PS officer patrolling PCV since the attack on that poor girl. It is damned pathetic as far as I'm concerned, and if anything happens to anyone in my family because of the nonexistent security, I am going to sue the hell out of Rick and McClellan personally.
I'm just hoping to make it to the end of my lease in November, when I can move to a place that is actually worth what they charge.
We r going to get sub metered. Final nails in coffins.
Re: New Signage in PigStuyTown
Truly a brilliant idea! New signs directing imbibers to Designated Pot Smoking Areas, usually on Main Level, right outside the entrances, Designated Dog Defecation Spots, usually on Oval Pathway, stairwells, or right outside the front door of your apartment, Designated Speedways, along any path in the complex, bonus points for intimidating the elderly and disabled as scooters and carts race past, Designated Hooting Areas, where the drunk dorm residents can scream, yell, barf when inebreated, open only midnight to 3:00AM on weekends, Designated Garbage Dumping Spots, usually by the door OUTSIDE the carriage room, the stairwell, or even the hallways outside your apartment!
Good job, Rick! You're really on top of your game...NOT!
There is no longer any doubt whose agenda the Tenant Association is pushing, property owner landlord or tenants. It is crystal clear by pushing the refresh painting and not informing tenants that Rose Associates is contracted by StuyTown Property Management for this paint job, that the Tenant Association is pushing the owner landlord agenda onto tenants and keeping tenants in the dark.
Paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!
>>I just witnessed 2 bicycle delivery men detained by PS in the oval (6:45pm) it appeared 1 was ticketed and another ones bicycle was being held.
I witness something else, however. And I am at the Oval a lot.

Sorry, no can do. That is why I occasionally have photos. I don't want to take them, but some people do not believe, even with photos!
According to someone on the TA fb there are low flying aircraft over the Oval. Much more dangerous than the speeding golf carts and bicycles.
"Watch your self-named "progressive" Mayor"
If you are referring to my post, this is what I said:
"I support true progressives to primary Cuomo/dB and the so called NYS Senate Democrats (The Independent Democratic Conference) who caucus with the Republican NYS Senators."
Except for his RGB appointees (which were big), dB is not a progressive. He needs to be in a primary.
Okay, let's try this again.
Yesterday I didn't post this, but... This is what happened yesterday evening. At the Oval, I saw a single bright light heading toward me. As the light got closer, I realized what it was: a motorized bicycle. The person on the bike turned and headed down the inner Oval pathway, where no one riding a bicycle is to be present. Well, this guy on his motorized bike went there.
Now, since I was at the Oval, I saw that the small booth was manned by a PS guard. Did the PS guard say anything? No.
Reiterating of last week:
1. airbnb is OK with landlord here, correct? we will attempt to sign up for airbnb
2. Our rugs are filthy & we can throw out easily. My wife is Not planning on buying new rugs and A OK with landlord also? Got all this now.
Yeah, this place blows.
I need new carpets too. However, after pricing wall to wall carpeting locally there is no way I am going to get new wall to wall. Then I realized why bother replacing the carpet at all? My upstairs neighbors don't have carpets and management is aware of it and has done nothing. Given I have records of my pleas to PS to enforce the rules and their refusal I have decided not to carpet my floors. I would love for management to try and do something about it.
To be honest I don't believe the story about the 2 bikers being stopped. I think that is trolling.
April 7, 2017 at 7:44 AM that is the doing of these three in the photo and ConEd who now runs REBNY.

>>To be honest I don't believe the story about the 2 bikers being stopped. I think that is trolling.<<
It is just very possibly true. However, as I wrote, I spend time in the Oval and most of the time PS doesn't do anything even if they are present, which is not frequent anyway. There are times when PS has to "show" something, and so they will ticket someone or challenge them. Very infrequently, however.
It is the same with night patrols in the oval after dark. I come home late at least three nights a week and I have never ever seen a PS officer around. On the TA website, someone said that he had seen one. I guess once in the blue moon PS has to show something. I did see 3 suitcase people in a row leaving Pig Sty Town today.
It's unfair that you have to carpet when others do not. ITA, why bother.
The "rules" here are a joke. Nobody takes any notice of them whatsoever. Look at the "recycling" for instance. All kinds of crap mixed together; some recyclable, most not. Look at the cyclists speeding all over the property and the golf carts that have no regard for life nor limb of pedestrians, even young children and elderly people. Look at the naked wood floors in all of the ads and the many complaints from tenants who have to deal with noise from neighbors who don't have carpets and are given the standard FU by management.
Rick Hayduk, you have failed in your job. Maybe the dear little old ladies like you, but they like Garodnik too, so you are in very shadowy company there.
The TA is pretty much a washed-up, eunuch of an organization and should be paid no mind and definitely no money!
We are on our own. Survival of the fittest. Sink or swim.
PS has no other choice but to give up. They have to follow orders.
Paul Weiss clients KKR own the "landscapers" BrightView who are turning the grounds into golf cart racing, treeless amenities and concert grounds. Paul Weiss client StuyTown Tenant Association and Paul Weiss client KKR Brightview want the amenities, concerts, clearing of the trees.
The Tenant Association "hired" the same law firm as the land developers KKR BrightView (formerly Brickman) and the same PR firm as the Property Management (also councilman PR firm and PR firm is former staff at AG office) and StuyTown Tenant Association lawyer is best pal of AG office who is running the real estate condo conversion for the State. If Paul Weiss, the AG, the TA wanted the renters quality of life protected then PS would follow those orders. PS follows orders. Orders have been handed down and renters have been pushed out. These pols make Reid look like a Saint but we all know he ain't no Saint.
It appears that the TA now is just an arm of management. Their answer to all issues is "e-mail Rick Hayduk." This shows that they are no longer a viable organization which tenants can turn to. Sad but true.
Tenants do not need permission to email him and that the TA tells tenants to do this is BAD ADVICE! Tenants with problems are better off reporting those problems to the City Agencies. If the TA tells you to email the landlord then your TA is covering up the problem for the landlord.
AirBNB Corporate Housing Expands and StuyTown Bulk Leasing is at 3000 StuyTown apartments. Who are these Bulk Leasing Corporations and why isn't de Blasio stopping the Bulk Leasing Hotels in StuyTown. His deal is NO hotels! What do we see this weekend but people with suitcases!

Yeah.....haha, I mean seriously. Is the realization of the TA being an arm of management a recent epiphany?
"Outta the way Blackstone is here to stay" and so are the speeding golf carts. Politicians are pushing out New Yorkers for Blackstone Rudin Brickman Trump golf courses so they can tuck away more profits in their Cayman Offshore accounts from golf tourism, golf tournaments and the hotel guests that brings to stay in the homes we once lived in.
There is a lot of betting and laundered money moving between a lot of shell companies at a lot of golf companies and courses. New York's un-American caste system under current politicians is responsible for kicking out this entire community for wealthy golf tourism. It's the Bloomberg mentality shared by pretty much all of City and State government. They love the very wealthy, they tolerate the very poor because it gives them opportunity to play hero, and they hate the Middle Class because we need only that they do their job of providing honest government services and that is something they will never willingly do. We do not need the politicians to rescue us, rather we need them to stop robbing us.

With respect to reporting problems here in STPCV, you should do both: complain to management and complain to city agencies. It's important to go on record. We may not have a do-nothing councilman and TA forever.
For now, however, don't expect management here or any of the city agencies to do anything.
I'm going into a new phase. It certainly appears that Blackstone doesn't give a you-know-what about some of the quality of life "rules" that they themselves have formulated via their representatives. I've lost count of the instances of lack of enforcement that I see every day, even if I go out for a brief time. BUT be aware that the city does have rules. Blackstone has to obey those rules. More will be said later. It all is going to take time and it won't be easy, but it will be done. Eventually.
https://dmv.ny.gov/registration/motorized-devices-cannot-be-registered-new-york
Nothing can happen here, no change can happen with another councilman like Garodnick.
Re your DMV link:
It says:
"Many low speed vehicles are similar in appearance to a golf cart, and can be registered and driven on New York State highways."
I'm sure this will be the cop-out that Blackstone (SPS) uses for their golf carts that are out of control here.
"It's unfair that you have to carpet when others do not. ITA, why bother."
LOL
unfair? if you are one of the selfish pigs with no regard for anyone living around you, then you'll need to get a carpet. If you can shut the fuck up and not disturb all your neighbors, who are paying rent JUST LIKE YOU to live here, then you won't need to carpet.
it's not rocket science, you fucking jackass.
I encourage anyone experiencing noise to take matters into their own hands.
got that, Heyduk?
since you're not doing anything, tenants will take action on their own. and you will have a lot of unhappy MR tenants moving out.
"Stuy Town Reporter said...

LSV's that can be registered need to be "street legal", which in addition to the manufacturer cert that DMV requires, means that they must have operating headlights, tail lights, turn signals, mirrors etc, just like a car. What they do not have are safety features like air bags, and I don't think they need to meet any kind of crash safety standards. In any event, most of the LSV's they use are golf carts, which are illegal to drive on city sidewalks or city streets. They can be used on the private paths.
This whole issue is a boondoggle that the city has turned a blind eye to. It won't be addressed until someone is critically injured or killed, and at that point, political pressure might be brought to bear. Or you could bring it up at a 13th Precinct community meeting and ask the question.
what this complex needs is more signs
As a further amenity Rick Hydick, our beloved property manager, is planning to create AirBnB kiosks at the entrances to PigStuyTown and PeterCooper Village.
This way the bewildered looking tourists can more easily find their illegal rentals.
Instead of randomly asking residents how to get to their short-term "digs", Rick can efficiently have our crack Public Safety team escort them without asking, "What is this Oval thing? How do I get there? Oh, we live here. We're just lost."
Another nail in the coffin of what used to be the BEST place to live in Manhattan.
This place is run by a bunch of idiots!
"I encourage anyone experiencing noise to take matters into their own hands.
got that, Heyduk?
since you're not doing anything, tenants will take action on their own. and you will have a lot of unhappy MR tenants moving out."
I second that emotion! You don't enforce any rules, Heyduk, so we will enforce them ourselves.
I am shockingly amazed at how I am able to hear the man above me sneezing, coughing and talking for the past two hours. I am a new tenant and I wish I had known the ceiling tile, ceiling has no barrier between us. It's quite disgusting not to mention distracting. It would have been good if I had known this before I rented.
>>This whole issue is a boondoggle that the city has turned a blind eye to.<<
It takes time and some push from residents (those who care), but the city rules have to be eventually enforced. ST and PCV supposedly can do what Management wants, as it's the feeling of Management that Blackstone now owns this place. This is true, partially, but the test becomes just how true? Certainly the club carts have a different set of rules inside the complex than outside the complex. As I look at some of the videos and photos, I see some club carts outside the complex. Are they following the city laws? We shall see.
Management wants MR to move out. DON'T YOU GET IT BY NOW. EVEN THOSE HIGHER PRICED APARTMENTS GET A TAX BREAK AND ONLY By THE TENANT MOVING OUT ARE THEY LEGALLY ABLE TO RAISE IT. EXAMPLE: THERE RAE TENANTS PAYING $3470 PER MONTH BUT IF AND WHEN THEY MOVE OUT, THE MANAGEMENT CAN RAISE IT ANOTEHR FOUR HUNDRED OR MORE BY CLAIMING THEY ADDED A NEW SINK OR JUST A SIMPLE MOVE OUT, MOVE IN FEE THE CITY ALLOWS THEM TO CHARGE. IT'S A LOT OF MONEY FOR THEM WHEN THE MR GO AWAY TOO. NOT JUST US.
PC tenant : arrived home early this afternoon due to holiday: bong party in the hall, coming in from the doorway, vents, windows and the drinking dimwits must have started well before 2 pm. d.is.gus.ting. here. It is not for families now.
All part of the same plan. Kick out the renters, young and old. Build luxury condos. Mayor denies the rezoning. Yacht and Ferry port waterfront development. Glen Cove to NYC StuyTown Ferry Yacht dock. RXR has their hands in Glen Cove and StuyTown
Thank you Albany for ruining a lot of people's retirement and a lot of renter families so your rich friends get richer. Albany is a cesspool, still.

In De Blasio's New York, Transparency Laws Mean Nothing
Tuesday, April 11, 2017

It is past time to open the StuyTown Tenant Association and all their LLC, Foundation entities record keeping books.
Transparency is a must for all StuyTown tenants, market rate and rent stabilized, for we are all on the losing end of every TA MCI challenge. Transparency in the Mayor, Aides and Deputy Mayors dealings with developers, as the City gives away parcels of land to lobbyist pals in exchange for developer "donations" for programs to make themselves look good and get PR headlines while according to the Town & Village they increase our rents more than any other neighborhood in the 5 boroughs. $10 million for Mayor's Department of Film & TV kid program is not appropriate and is not a counterbalance to raising our family's StuyTown Peter Cooper homes.
Transparency of all City Officials, City Agencies, City Administrators, is vital for all tenants to be able to keep Peter Cooper Village StuyTown homes. PC is a dorm not suitable for families, as a commentator already pointed out.
Demand Transparency
"Just last month the de Blasio administration lost a FOIL lawsuit brought by NY1 that saw the mayor's office attempting to shield the release of emails from so-called agents of the city — a dispute that continues and has helped reveal the close relationships between the mayor's office and developers. Beyond journalism, FOIL allows the public to pry open government's black box and see how officials act in their name."

management's answer to any problem they perceive is a new rule, a new sign and little enforcement.
why is it years ago we had almost no signs, the rules were in the lease, and most people followed the rules without reminders.
1 0 05 am mean spirited person. Your problem too big boy.
Look at the TA FB page... another day, another problem with tenants stealing laundry carts, another response from Peter Stuyvesant to contact Public Safety. Why don't they actually do something for once and help solve some of these obvious problems????
Does anyone know if Blackstone is still charging extra to paint the ceilings white? Remember how we were always able to get cream walls and white ceilings when it was time for a paint job under met life? Then the Tischman ghouls started charging us extra if we wanted it? I stopped having my ceilings painted after that but now I can no longer hold out. I wonder if Blackstone went back to the old, more civil days.
April 11, 2017 at 12:21 PM there was a better class of people back then. The couple next to us are rude, loud and dirty.
Hi all,
Just found this blog as a prospective tenant, very surprised to see so much the negative content. Yes, I'm a soon-to-be post graduate working professional but respectful, quiet and value a sense of community and knowing my neighbors. PCVST looks like one of the few housing options within my to-be roommate (another respectful working professional whom I've known since kindergarten) and I's price range of ~$3500 for a 1br flex. We can't seem to find anything else as nice in the price range especially for "no-fee" apartments and with many of the utilities included.
I know we are the targeted demographic of much hate on this blog but I wanted to try and shed some light as to why people in our situation are attracted to PCVST. It just doesn't seem like there are many other desirable places downtown at this price point. That being said, any advice for potential newcomers to the community? Things to look for or avoid? Much Appreciated.
Before the real estate developers arrived in 2015 there was barely any crimes. This was the safest neighborhood. Ever since the real estate developers pillaged the land, it is crime ridden with violent offenders. Again the StuyTown Security cameras do not catch the criminal, a bystander happening by the crime calls it in. The developers brought crime, a sharp increase in crime since Tishman Speyer and BlackRock came to StuyTown. Run down the property and bring in crime so corrupt politicians can approve demolition, kicking out the entire community by creating a crime-ridden slum where there was once the safest neighborhood in New York City. There was no crime here before BlackRock Tishman Speyer and ALL their investors and vested interests in condo development started running Airbnb VRBO HomeAway hotels and commercial Amenities. Now we have more crimes, more violent crimes, more criminals on the property. Let's be clear on who the criminals are and who brought the crime to what was once the safest neighborhood to raise a family.

My main advice is to know what you are getting. I don't think it is possible, but if you know the apartment you will be getting, it may help. Relatively, I don't have the same problems others do in different apartments. It depends. And good luck!
The Beep-Beep of a worker's truck (mulch, I believe) heard loudly before 8am. Thank you, Rick!

No comment at this point.
The biggest problem is management renting to tenants that live here for a short period of time and the investors in buying apartments they want to rent out to students and travelers. The links were posted a few weeks ago by a commentator.
They are running transient residences instead of permanent housing. There are more bulk leased apartments to corporate hotel housing and student dorm housing than permanent housing. Airbnb partnerships with corporate housing and student dorms a la With more than 50,000 apartments in over 60 countries Bridgestreet Global Hospitality are the biggest problem and City Hall knows this.

The TA's pat response on their blog is to e-mail Rick or call public safety. Shows that they are a tool of management. They should be ashamed of themselves.
"The Beep-Beep of a worker's truck (mulch, I believe) heard loudly before 8am. Thank you, Rick!"
At precisely 7 am today the leaf blowers (don't know what they are blowing) were going strong, also the guys taking out the garbage and recycling crap and crashing bottles, yelling at the tops of their voices. Then followed the beep beep beep guys.
No chance to sleep after 7 am, even if you work a night shift! They don't even TRY to be considerate!
During lunch time, it may take me a minute or less to go up that hill between the loops. Going past me on the hill during that very brief time, three club cars and two on my way back. You can almost see the drivers laughing and having a good time. Obviously, Management doesn't give a fuck, but the club cars are out of control right now and think they own the road. At least they seem to in ST and PCV. But outside, we shall see....
I see the club cars speeding the wrong way on the 14th Street Loop all the time. The guys are always laughing and talking on their phones. A terrible accident waiting to happen, and even worse when the bastards are on the sidewalk or weaving in and out of people on the paths through the property. Totally reckless bastards and management does fuck all to stop them.

80% carpeting???
And what is a "virtual" doorman? Could be the guy behind the camera monitors when the potential rape/murder happened.
Don't forget, it's "Gramercy"...

Still here. But not my job.
This place, though it has its perks, is out of control, if we mean the control of a landlord who does his job, period. Yeah, I see the rules and our "good neighbor" policy, but by now I know that these rules and policy are bullshit. If we only had a true TA, but from appearances they do very little.
This is how fast fires spread. Makes you think twice about the cheap materials they are installing, the removal of the fireproof metal doors in the kitchen to contain fires now that the kitchens are open to living areas and with grills. How the renovation got approved by the FDNY can only be explained by the FDNY Commissioner's attendance at the REBNY gala.

If we only had a true TA and a true Manager. Rick does NOTHING to enforce the rules, make PS get off their lazy asses and totally does not care what happens here so long as he gets his pay check, which I assume is a rather large one. He really should quit and get a job as a cruise director. He'd be good at that.
GREG-12:23am- Read your lease VERY carefully. Look for riders upping your rent by thousands - at the will of management. Beware!!!
By now you should feel extra good about the priorities here. Mulch and more mulch. Piles of it. Thank you, Blackstone.
After this experience with the best that Blackstone has to offer, I don't know about a cruise director. I'd be wary of taking that cruise.
Are golf carts only for actual business. Can anyone just park & ride their own. Perhaps I'll just play thru. Fore!
stopped by a couple today with some luggage and a bike. they needed to find their rental they said and i asked them where there furniture was and they said they were not staying but two weeks. Classic shit classic.

Hi all,
Just found this blog as a prospective tenant, very surprised to see so much the negative content.
Much Appreciated."
there is a certain amount of anger at the gentrification of the neighborhood, which is not directed at you specifically, but at management, politicians, deBlasio for lying about preserving affordable housing, etc etc.
I would love to analyze the situation in more detail but off the top of my head, I just want to say to you,
please for the love of God, put down carpeting to absorb the noise in your apartment. They were built in 1945, quickly, for middle class tenants, cheaply and (honestly) with absolutely nothing to insulate noise. Middle class people understand this, and understand that they can't simply do whatever the fuck they want with no regard for people around them. MR tenants don't seem to understand this.
for example, What sounds like a somewhat audible tapping footsteps to you sounds like hammering to the person below you, and next to you.
MR tenants must know this by now (all the signs, the leases which they should have read, etc etc) but they don't give a fuck because theyre selfish pigs. hence the anger.
Please be a considerate neighbor.
And no, expecting your neighbors to wear earplugs so they don't hear you is NOT being a considerate, or reasonable or sane, person. (this has actually been suggested elsewhere.)
>>stopped by a couple today with some luggage and a bike. they needed to find their rental they said and i asked them where there furniture was and they said they were not staying but two weeks. Classic shit classic.<<
Blackstone hard at work!
>>Please be a considerate neighbor.<<
I've come across these "newbies," so there is hope, at least some.
Next time have them refer to the new "signage".
Just as ill-conceived as our fantastic intercom system.
Hello, Neighbors -
One or two of you have written that we need to take action. As in confronting and dealing with the dangerous, filthy, human-garbage-infested place this has become.
I agree.
It is vital to understand and ACCEPT that it is not that "management doesn't care" or "management doesn't give a fu**."
MANAGEMENT CARES. MANAGEMENT IS DOING THIS TO US DELIBERATELY.
There is graft, corruption, collusion, illegality, payoffs, etc., etc. The government, banks, politicians, real estate people. Management, landlords, the minions and representatives of the landlords who: (a) are following orders (like the Nazis and their brethren) because they will be fired if they don't follow orders; (b) convinced themselves they are truly doing the right thing (think Stockholm Syndrome); (c) are currying favor in the vain hope that they will be raised to the level of their masters in terms of money and power over others; (d) are stupid as hell, either intellectually and/or psychologically.
All of that stated and digested and ACCEPTED: what are you going to do about it?
Many humans (and increasing numbers these days) will behave as badly as they can get away with at any given time. OTHER HUMANS NEED TO STOP THEM. Period.
Blackstone wants you stepping in dog shit and hopefully getting sick from it after you've brought it home. Blackstone wants you terrified to walk out of your own door because some jackass will run you down (jackass: on a bike, scooter, skateboard; in some motorized vehicle. These jackasses are all shapes, sizes, ages, colors, economic classes. Too many of them are even "Mommies" and "Daddies.")
Blackstone wants you to lose sleep, become physically damaged and even be fired from your job because shrieking NYU and like-minded morons keep you up at night and shouting workers wake you up at 7 a.m.
ALL OF THE MISERY YOU ARE SUFFERING IS EITHER DELIBERATELY CREATED OR EXPLOITED BY BLACKSTONE. PERIOD.
The agents, deliberate and otherwise, who are causing your living hell in the place you call home/refuge/sanctuary can be confronted.
Pull idiots off bikes. Stand in front of (BLOCK) golf carts and similar vehicles. Get in the faces of screaming, yelling, laughing drunken stoned morons - both in your buildings and on the streets. Stop herds of idiots from walking into your building: interrogate them and don't be particularly pleasant about it. Stop intruders rolling around their junk in suitcases and ask them where they are going and make it clear THIS AIN'T A GODDAMN HOTEL, MOTEL, HOSTEL or BED AND BREAKFAST.
Stop the moron moms who insist on holding elaborate parties on the Oval for 3 year olds and "decorating" the poor besieged trees.
I could go on. You get my drift.
Humans have become denatured, incapable of defending themselves against invasion, intrusion and energy.
Reclaim your normal nature.
If enough of us stop either suffering in silence or simply complaining, and ACT, there will be changes.
April 12, 2017 at 5:15 PM that is illegal but hey, we're Blackstone we get away with it all the time.
"After this experience with the best that Blackstone has to offer, I don't know about a cruise director. I'd be wary of taking that cruise
."
It would have to be a Carnival Cruise - the line that always has backed-up toilets, botulism and even a couple of sunken ships!
@6:54 PM, if only Rick Heyduk would read this and absorb the fact of it! I don't think he has any idea of how this place really is. I don't think he would be such a useless "manager" if he did. Maybe we should get up a petition to Blackstone to get him removed and get a Manager who knows what he is doing. I tend to suspect, though, that Blackstone specializes in "Ricks." These are the guys who just keep the apartments churning and pay no heed to how tenants (who actually live here and want to stay here) suffer. Since the day I graduated, back in 1978, I never wanted to live in a dorm ever again.

Yeah, though I understand your anger and retribution, it is a good way for the other side to win by putting you in jail. They are just waiting for someone to "cross the line." Then out you go!
The only way to fight them is legally and, assuredly, slowly. These things take time, unfortunately. And that's not to say the battle (whatever it is) will be won, but certain things may well be won. I have slowly begun a list of things that it is possible to accomplish. However, I don't have much time to spare and must proceed slowly, as do others.
Blackstone can install carpeting in apartments. They just dont want to.
9:13
You can remove Rick and replace him with someone else, but that does not get rid of the real issue, and that is Blackstone. Rick is just a puppet that is doing what he is told. The continued facade of being this great savior by responding to a few emails but turning a blind eye to actual problems that so many of us face is being deliberately avoided because Rick is told to avoid them.
4/12 at 8:22pm - well done!
Within certain regulations, Blackstone feels they can do anything or nothing. Just take a look out your window. Blackstone owns this place. I'm sure that if it wasn't for rent protections, I and others would be out on our asses. Blackstone would not cry too much while they focus on making more money out of this place to show the world they are "right."
Funny, the head honcho here, our beloved Rick, was with two others checking the new flowers on the edge of Stuy Town. The flower beds at this area looked like crap, something I could have told him for free. No people to verify needed.
Anyone having a problem with Verizon or that Verizon killed healthy trees destroying the Oval Park to install Fios so StuyTown developers can advertise amenities and wi-fi to students and tourists?

"Answer a ringtone. Nothing on it. Make a phone call. No dial tone. Five phone lines, for which we are billed, do not work. None work. None. Not one. They might for a moment, then not again.
Dealings include conversations with our mayor, governor, cardinal, senators, congresspeople, White House. The complaint is I am unreachable.
Reporting this repeatedly, I rang Verizon chairman Lowell C. McAdam. His phone’s OK, but he did not take the call. I e-mailed Lowell.McAdam@Verizon.com. No response. Probably too busy repairing my line — or chatting with United Airlines’ CEO.
Last year Attorney General Eric Schneiderman assisted. Workers came. Each time someone different. No continuity, no cohesion, no continuing service. No connect to a message machine, no recording announcing trouble on the line. Oddly, the lone transmission that snuck through? A Verizon robocall."

We are getting screwed in Albany, by Albany, because of Albany, for Albany's REBNY and ABNY pals.
This place is no longer a community, but a 24 hour revolving door. Nobody cares about ANYONE,
anymore. AND the smell of the fertilizer that is ALL over this place is making me sick to my stomach.

April 13, 2017 at 8:12 AM you said it. This is exactly why voting for incumbents for anything is very bad for public interest! No to Cuomo in 2020 for anything he runs for. No No No No No No No No No No.
No.
No.
Rick serves absolutely no purpose here. Gets paid over $100,000.00/year to do NOTHING!
7:53 AM - Verizon is to telephone customers what United Airlines is to the flying public. Total tossers.
Our kids wanted to share this with everyone. Some of the kids in the playgrounds love the squirrels, and their moms and dads do too. We hate the signs.

OHHHHH. Technically a property landlord can advertise as a luxury dwelling if they have either a doorman or fitness center. That explains why in the tenant association board meetings the tenant association boards lady fought hard to construct and keep the gym even though nobody uses it even with the deep student discounts. It is for advertising purposes to churn apartments at higher rents. Nice job tenant association, on your stellar record of accomplishments keeping Stuyvesant Town Peter Cooper Village StuyTown affordable for families. NOT.

Rick does exactly what his bosses, Blackstone, want him to do. That is to placate older tenants with e-mails and ignore the major QOL issues.
April 13 @ 3:51. I was born and raised here and we have always had squirrels. They never bothered anybody. Sure, they begged - always have and always will! Go to any park in NYC and you will find squirrels looking for a hand-out. They're New Yorkers and make the most of any opportunity that comes their way.
It's only recently that a couple of neurotic mothers decided that they were/are dangerous wild animals. They say a child was bitten by a squirrel, but I really don't believe it. Maybe a kid got scraped because it tried to feed the animal by hand which is something nobody should ever do.
These squawking mothers get bent out of shape over the squirrels, but I don't hear them saying much about the dangers of shit-plastered pathways and grass (MUCH more dangerous to their offspring than squirrels) or the maniacs riding and biking around at high speed, talking on or reading their phones. The squirrels are a scapegoat. If these mothers really cared about their little bundles of joy, they would take on Management about the real dangers of raising a kid here, such as I've mentioned above. When I was a kid we didn't have to worry about being mowed down on the property and our mothers knew we were not going to get killed by a little bushy-tailed animal. We were only worried about the security guards chasing us off the grass.
It's easier for Rick Heyduk to soothe these mommies by scapegoating the squirrels and those who like to feed them (mostly older people) than it is for him to make the effort to address the real dangers around here and enforce the rules to protect tenants from dog shit, bikes, golf and club carts and drunken, pain-in-the-ass college kids. That would take some real effort on the part of Rick Heyduk, so he'll take the easy way out and ban squirrel feeders and post some silly signs about "house rules." What a schmuck.

Thanks for the laugh so hard we cried. The TA and Councilman Senator Assemblyman letter to CWCapital Asset Management CW Financial Services LLCAndrew on the obnoxious concert noise and on the construction noise and debris dust pollution are just as ineffective. Useless deliberately ineffective letter writing for appearances sake is a bad joke(like the councilman's letter for the bunker drawing!).
If tenants want results apparently from the above comment we are better off with Cindy Adams than all three politicians and the TA combined.
In this letter they said: "Finally, please know that we are in touch with the appropriate City agencies, and are asking them to do a complete audit and review of the plans, to ensure compliance with all applicable rules."

CONCERTS AND MOVIES ARE A LOUD JOKE WITH LOW ATTENDANCE AND BAD ENTERTAINMENT BLARING INTO OUR LIVING ROOMS.
http://assembly.state.ny.us/mem/Brian-Kavanagh/story/61725/
On July 29, 2014, Assemblymember Brian Kavanagh, State Senator Brad Hoylman, and City Councilmember Dan Garodnick sent a letter to CW Capital regarding noise complaints related to concerts held on the grounds of Stuyvesant Town. The text of the letter is below.

Managing Director

Dear Mr. MacArthur:
We write to you to express our concern over the sound levels from this summer’s concerts in Stuyvesant Oval. Our offices received more complaints than usual, and wanted to make you aware that people complained from as far away as 272 First Avenue and 524 East 20th Street, despite their efforts to tune it out.
While none of us was physically present for the concerts, we felt that the complaints were significant enough for us to bring it to your attention. Further, it is also apparent that there is no way for a concerned resident to make a complaint by calling “resident services.” On this, and on other issues, we would welcome a more user-friendly mechanism for residents to raise a concern with management.
We are of course aware that concerts for this year have just ended. While we do not know yet whether you intend to bring them back, we ask that you or members of your staff meet with us and the Tenants Association in the coming year to discuss the timing and amplification of these performances so that we might mitigate these concerns.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Dan Garodnick Brad Hoylman Brian Kavanagh

Well put.
Hello, I just came across your blog. I am trying to break the lease and the legal department is being extremely unresonable (4months worth of rent, which in my case I have 5 months remaining on the lease.). Do you have any recommendations as to how to proceed with them or other people who tried to break the lease recently and where quoted not standard answer? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
