Relax (at least once in a while)

Sunny now. Even the rain looks and feels nice.

Update #2, June 6:

Beam Living, Stuy Town Management (constantly addressing residents as little children in "woke" phraseology),
our local politicians to include our Mayor (by far the worst NYC mayor I have seen in my lifetime) and, yes, our Governor:

CHUMPS

--------------

New July 1

Impeach Mayor Bill de Blasio

Link above goes to Change.org site.

This idiot must go.

(150,000 signatures have been reached. Now the site is going for 200,000!)

Newest update, July 6th:

Mayor de Blasio's Accomplishments

------------

New from the NYC Official Site! Posted 8/6

------------

Mayor de Blasio has no plan for indoor dining

 ------------

Governor Cuomo begs New Yorkers to come back. He will even cook for you!

Keith Powers, Our City Council Person.

Votes for Police De-funding and the "progressive" issues that are making this city more and more unlivable. Was a lobbyist for Real Estate in his pre-council win. Never does anything about the quality-of-life violations and (some city ones) he has to see in his own community.

If you are satisfied with what you see in the city (dramatic increase in crime, homelessness, garbage), cheer him on!

 -----

Stuyvesant Town-Peter Cooper Village Tenants Association

Not transparent at all.

This organization has so far refused to give the number of paying dues members, pre-virus, despite receiving from our city councilman $30,000 last year and receiving membership fees. They claim they are the largest tenants association in the nation, but are very secretive about membership numbers and where the money they receive is allocated. No tenant organization that I know of is so secretive. Very simple request: Open up the books.

Update 6/18/2020:

This is priceless and tells much about people jumping the gun big time--something that is occurring more these days, as people are ready to damn someone before the full facts are known.... So, I am searching the internet and come across a couple of photos that look very familiar. One is exactly what I posted in November, applying it to a fake interview. Well, I got damned by a Stuy Town reader who felt I was making fun of the pain and suffering this person on the photo felt. I tried to find the post, but I may have not passed it. But I discovered the reality today. The photo, one of at least two, shows an Asian girl opening her mouth to try to catch the snow that's falling down. That's it. No pain, no suffering, just a kid playing. A good lesson to be careful before one jumps the gun.

To me that looks like the attempted rape from behind 7 and 9 oval from last summer. Guess the perp is still out there enjoying his freedom.

"Are we talking about an attempted rape yesterday or months back?"

Not sure now. I saw it on Tenants FB.

Rick is back to putting movies on the Oval. Some of questionable integrity.

This guy is a fucking idiot. He has no conscience.

Before getting "a piece of the pie," you need "a seat at the table." And Rick is the one with "questionable integrity," to put it mildly.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>Rick is back to putting movies on the Oval.<<

I knew it and should have made a post about this before it happened. Rick, the social conscience of Stuy Town (and number one backer of Blackstone) is going to show two films on the Oval (social distancing, please). The films are, you guessed it, BLM approved films. So not only do we get a huge BLM sign at the fountain (the sign is now taken down), but Rick continues, both working for Master Blackstone, which has been damned on the issue of true affordable housing across the globe, and BLM, which now has been attacked as a political Marxist organization. Good going, Rick!

Putting the "movies" back on the Oval is utterly unconscionable.
It is a DANGER.
Clueless SLICK RICK HYDICK is truly without regard to the community.
Why don't you go back to Florida?

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Beam Living (what a name!) and Rick are opening up Stuy Town again because Blackstone wants it. So, yeah, all the events, and now booze at the cafe, will come back. Social distancing, of course....

Anonymous said...

The one good thing about this pandemic was the absence of Slick Rick’s entertainment. This bringing back of movies is despicable and nauseating.

They should show 1975 film Mandingo in the Oval. Very topical (ahead of its time). But Stuy Town Moms probably wouldn't like it....

Where is this movies atrocity written, please? May we have a copy of it?

I wish they would get rid of Hayduk and replace him with somebody who knows how to be a property manager and not a failed resort manager/cruise director. He really is sickening.

The scheduled July 8th movies on the Oval: 311 informs me that more than 10 people at a gathering is prohibited.

July rent bills have gone out. Why pay them to try to kill us and others with their "gatherings" and "events" with FOOD, no less, as the pandemic widens again??? And this is after announcing, "Come get drunk at 5 Turd Cafe."

Saturday, June 27th 2020 saw a brand new cluster of cases in Westchester (courtesy of a traveler from Florida).

Remember New Rochelle in March? That's how New York City ended up with catastrophe and disaster.

We are likely heading back into emergency medical conditions again in the not very distant future.

Now, in one state, it's 18-35 year olds who are sickening with Covid-19. Much of America is now either in emergency or heading into emergency conditions with Covid-19.

If you don't want to (a) get sick; (b) die; (c) infect others so they sicken and/or die, do the right thing.

NO JULY RENT UNTIL MOVIES AND OTHER "EVENTS" ARE CANCELLED UNTIL

THE PANDEMIC IS OVER. OVER AND GONE.

I walked in to see how it was going, with social distancing and the absence of most of the female cashiers. No bad smell for me. The smell may be due to the face mask.

Thank god we got some rain yesterday. After a few dry weeks, the walkways near my building were a patchwork of dark stains and reeked of piss. I mean like 1970s subway station awfulness...

Not much here about the serious dog overpopulation we got going on. I defy you to stand on any other block in NYC and count more dogs in a five minute span than you will here in Stuyvesant Town. Piles of dog shit are a constant sight, smelly piss puddles pockmark the walkways, and Mismanagement has literally given up on any kind of enforcement.

Anonymous said...

Who could possibly know? Correct me if I'm wrong but the last rape (or attempted rape) was never solved.

Mandingo is NOT a "racist" movie--it's a disturbing portrayal of how American slavery really was, and how poorly the white owners behaved, although apologists for Confederacy claim it's exaggerated. Maybe the poster who complained yesterday is such an apologist...?

I think what Rick is doing regarding putting on movies on the Oval is unconscionable. Absolutely totally reckless. I hope and pray that nobody shows up for this dimwitted event. Doesn't Rick Hayduk watch the news or read the papers? Doesn't he know that in places that are opening too soon and where wearing masks is a suggestion and not an enforced rule the virus is spreading and it is taking the lives of young and old. In some of the "red" states it is seen as a political gesture to refuse to wear a mask and have social gatherings. The fact that this poor apology of a "manager" doesn't order Public Safety to enforce the mask rule is a sign of what a spineless and useless "manager" he is and how useless and ineffectual our so-called Public Safety corp is. This is just disgusting and Hayduk has lost any respect and credibility I had for him.

What is the point of this type of "event" anyway? This is NOT a resort and was not built to be a resort. His Oval events are usually very annoying to most of the tenants here (especially those living near the Oval) and are totally unnecessary. At this time they are possibly deadly. Does Blackstone want people to get sick because it owns so many medical practices and has corporate interests in the healthcare businesses? Don't tell me there is not a $$$$$ motive behind all this.

Hayduk is despicable. Totally despicable and dangerous. His behavior is inexcusable.

I wonder what Bill Potter did with his time when he ran this place. We had pristine grounds (no dog shit), people who didn't live here were permitted on the grounds, but drunks and derelicts were not. The Oval was a beautiful tree park and there were flowerbeds planted all around the Oval (which was bigger then) and the flowers were ablaze with color in Spring. The buildings were clean and the rules pertaining to carpeting and noise were strongly enforced. There were no commercial activities on the property and we didn't want any.

We never heard very much from Mr. Potter. No creepy bulletins (email didn't exist then), but there was a newsletter twice a year. Repairs were done promptly and efficiently and you could trust the handymen, plumbers, electricians to enter your apartment and not steal anything. Very few people moved out and there was a long waiting list to get in.

The property was one of very safest places to live at a time when New York was a mess. The Security Force was professional and effective. They also patrolled the property and didn't sit in their cars reading their emails and texts and they didn't sit in an office where they were supposed to be watching cameras. Actually, I don't think most of the cameras here work and if you go by the PS office there is usually one officer in front of the screens - and not watching them.

I wonder what Mr. Potter did with his days? I wonder if he was sitting in his office twiddling his thumbs? I doubt it because it took a strong hand and excellent managerial skills to run this place the way he ran it. He would have wiped the floor with this Hayduk character.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>Not much here about the serious dog overpopulation we got going on.<<

More dog days, for sure. The dog population is increasing. Even dogs that are large size and shouldn't be here by Rick's guidelines. And one of our managers has THREE dogs! No one who matters cares. And outside dogs? No one is stopping them. Another failure by Rick

Anonymous said...

I know a couple who looked at an apartment on E19th St. They have two big dogs.

The RE agent showing them the space told them it’d be perfect for them and their dogs because “you have Stuy Town right across the street.”

If you look up the word "Failure" in the dictionary you will see a photograph of Rick Hayduk.

Failing is the one and only thing he does well when it comes to his job here. Not referring to his personal life, which I don't know or care anything about.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>The RE agent showing them the space told them it’d be perfect for them and their dogs because “you have Stuy Town right across the street.”<<

Anonymous said...

"And these outside dogs will be let in. Everyone outside who has a dog knows this. Rick does nothing."

Nothing is what Rick does best when it comes to enforcement of rules. He is not a Manager; he doesn't know how to manage. He belongs working at some resort where he doesn't have to expend any energy or brainpower on anything other than thinking up entertainment ideas. As a property manager he is an absolute dead loss. I can't imagine how and why he got the job.

Just Call Rick Hayduk a hypocrite putting on movies in the Oval is part of Blackstone's P.R. strategy transitioning PCVST away from phony Rick's temporary "I lead a community" surviving a health crisis back to his noisy, anything goes, do whatever you want whenever you want "campus" atmosphere catering to students/transients.

Blackstone promoting PCVST as a campus for transients is intentionally killing off the remaining residential community.

The playgrounds have been open. The other day, I sat near the main playground at PCV, and almost every child was not wearing a face mask. The adults seem to be wearing them or had one on their person. But children, no. And the children were running around, as usual, and also shouting, playing and talking to each other. The lack of concern was evident. I'm just stating the way it is, with no value judgement.

People: please remember that the property we call "Home" is owned by the most notoriously abusive, life-negating entity on the face of the earth. If we were owned by the Taliban or a drug kingpin it would be a step up when it comes to the level of morality of Blackstone. Rick Hayduk is a servant of this vile organization. They pay his salary. So, he's probably only slightly better than someone who works for El Chappo. Or maybe not. He has to know what his employer is. Don't expect any kind of genuine sincere morality from Rick. His soul belongs to Satan a/k/a Blackstone. I have ZERO respect for him and just about puke at his lies and moralizing. He is an opportunistic con-artist and not a very talented one. He knows how much he pisses off the majority of people who live here and it doesn't bother him in the slightest! I don't even read his email bulletins anymore. I unsubscribed from his and the so-called Tenants Association emails. They are con artists and totally worthless.

I passed the above comment. Yeah, some residents feel this way, but I do think it is an overreaction to what is being done here. I am no fan of how this place is run, but I don't think everything is being run to the ground. There are still things that are worthwhile. Here, there, and everywhere.

I wrote the subject comment and I wasn't really referring to the deterioration of the property because that isn't too bad. What really galls me is Rick's constant trying to bring us together notwithstanding this deadly pandemic. The Sty Cafe and its beer and wine, etc., is just another way for Blackstone to make money and no doubt it will be used by outsiders. I just hate Rick's relentless endeavors to organize events and get people together at a time when we absolutely need to stay away from each other as much as possible. He is in no way helping anybody but Blackstone and it's also an ego thing on his part imo.

I just can't stand the man. He makes my skin crawl.

Anonymous said...

Considering how many people here do NOT wear masks (or wear them over their chin and no higher!) I wouldn't dream of attending one of Rick's dumb events or going to the Five Turd E-Coli Cafe. The cafe might be a nice place to get a coffee on a pleasant morning, but not at this point in time. It shouldn't even be open and Rick's movies and other gathering events should be totally out of the question at this time. I don't why why he is so ever-anxious to get us to attend these things. I think he really is more of a resort manager than a property manager. When I tell my friends and family members who live in other apartment complexes about this guy and his "events," the crack-up laughing. Most of us don't want or need Rick's efforts to entertain us (and make a few bucks for Blackstone). What makes it worse is that Rick doesn't care that mostly people from outside come in for them and the property is known for being a dog run!

The scheduled Stuyvesant Oval (Blackstone Group/Beam Living) movies at 5 and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 have yet to be cancelled.

They present a clear and present danger for untold numbers of people due to the Covid-19 presence and its ability to be rapidly transmitted to hundreds and thousands of people where even one asymptomatic person comes into contact with another person.

All personnel contacted, or attempted to be contacted, with regard to this (a) indifference to human life and health; and/or (b) deliberate attempt to sicken/cause the death of untold numbers of people, have NOT RESPONDED to date.

As a resident who lives in close proximity to the Oval, who is both older, and who has recently undergone surgery and will soon begin radiation treatment, it seems clear to me that whomever in Blackstone Group/Beam Living is making these decisions is not only breaking the law, but deliberately putting me in jeopardy of disease and/or death. In addition, I am suffering great emotional distress, distress which puts me at further risk of disease and/or death. I am extremely fearful for my life and health.

It is also clear that Blackstone Group/Beam Living is, and has, abrogated its fiduciary responsibility and obligation to its tenants, with whom they have signed contracts by virtue of its actions, total indifference to human life and well-being in this time of unprecedented global pandemic. Their actions constitute purposeful negligence with malice aforethought. It is as if the new outbreaks all over this country, including Westchester County, were not occurring.

It is my belief that most, if not all, of the personnel we know personally here, do NOT want to cause such harm to myself and others, but are afraid for their livelihoods, and perhaps have asked their own supervisors to stop all of the "events" and "activities," especially the "MOVIES WITH FOOD" and have been ignored, ridiculed, or threatened with loss of employment.

Anonymous said...

@5:22 PM. I am so sorry to hear that you are undergoing treatment for an obviously very serious illness and I can well imagine the emotional distress you are experiencing. I have been through the same type of illness and treatment myself (13 years and no recurrence, so don't look on the dark side - though I know that is easier said than done).

I too am disgusted and horrified at Rick and Co.'s total disregard for the health and wellbeing of the residents of Stuyvesant Town (they don't do this kind of crap in PCV where Rick lives) and I think by his actions and deeds Rick gives us the middle finger, but he does it with a smarmy smile. Maybe he's taking directions from Blackstone that he has to squeeze every last brown penny out of the tenants by exploiting and commercializing the Oval and that dirty little cafe because getting tenants to attend these "events" is an advertising ploy for the property. The silly fools who attend these "events" are being used as free advertising material for the property. It reminds me of Donald Trump's ride down the escalator at Trump Tower at the beginning of his first campaign when he had hundreds of paid actors to mill around, looking like supporters. The major difference here, of course, is that that the tenants (and outsiders who drift in) are not actors and are not getting paid; they are simply rather gullible people who allow themselves to be used, possibly to their detriment.
At a time when there is no Coronavirus, those people are welcome to fall for the schtick. Who cares? But at a time like this, they are putting their lives and other people's lives (especially people in your situation) at great risk.

Rick is the "happy guy front" for that bloodsucking sinister organization and he seems comfortable with it. I cannot respect such a person.

Regardless of what Rick says about the popularity of these events, they were only ever attended by about 100-200 people out of the 30,000 tenants. He will probably get those same numbers of 100-200 people and claim that the events are popular and wanted by all.

The people who used to attend these silly events are the same ones that will continue to attend them.

Keith Powers is a wholly owned subsidiary of the REBNY. He was never in this for his constituents. I would say I'm not going to vote for him this time around but I didn't vote for him last time since anyone who cared already knew he was owned by the real estate cabal. However, despite all their huffing and puffing that is what Democrats love, and no I'm not a Republican. Look at the list of politicians in NY, each and every one is owned by some group and they couldn't care less about the people that they were elected to serve. Yet, election after election they get voted back in. No Senator in the history of the Senate has seen more people and more jobs leave their state than Chuck Schumer yet he wins in a landslide every election cycle. When Schumer started in the Senate, NY was the second most populous state with 41 electoral college votes. Now NY is somewhere behind Florida and Texas among others and falling fast as people and jobs flee the state, rightfully so. By the numbers Chuck is the worst Senator in US history, period.

As of last night, I don't see the non tenants association blog. What's up? Hope it hasn't gone away for good, we need all the info we can get from people who care about this place and our well being!

Thank you STR for your service!!!

Thank you. But the deletion was mine. Returning a favor. Sorry, it had to be this way, but that's the way of the world nowadays. I can't do otherwise.

Has anybody noticed they have taken the signage down from the leasing office on First Avenue? Wonder what's up with that?

I didn't know there even was a non TA blog!

Just so people know, "social distancing" and wearing a face mask is not happening all the time in Stuy Town. I just came back from being near the basketball court where the Citibank bicycles are, and a bunch of young people, almost one on top of the other, were playing basketball. No masks and certainly no social distancing. Of course, no PS or Management or Rick to be seen. Whether you trust the Covid graphs or not, the "rules" here are mostly BS.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Over at the TA Facebook, there was another thread that upset some people. Nevertheless, I just came across this:

https://www.ny1.com/nyc/all-boroughs/news/2020/07/06/stuy-town-vacancies-surge-as-residents-flee-new-york

Not really a surprise. Until a couple of weeks ago management listed the total number of vacant apartments at their website when searching for apartments. They removed the total. Obviously, they don't want to show how difficult it is to rent an apartment here.

Last night, for the first time, possibly ever, so-called protesters disturbed the peace here, surprised, shocked, and maybe even traumatized some of us along the 14th Street Loop shortly after 7:00 p.m.

It was jarring and distressing. It was beyond noisy - it was filled with militant, angry voices and bodies.

Blackstone needed to shut off the entrances to Stuyvesant and Cooper weeks ago when large mobs of screaming and sometimes violent, destructive people started to terrorize our neighborhood. They did not.

Sometimes we live in a "private" enclave; sometimes it is open to the "public."

Lovely.

When I called Security to ask what the noise was before I could see them out my window, the young Security Guard who briefly spoke with me sounded just the slightest bit agitated herself. I don't blame her. Her life, as someone "in blue" is in danger daily.

Anonymous said...

Rick is an abject failure of a manager, but he is what Blackstone wants. He has neutered PS and doesn't give a damn about the rules of common decency in apartment living. He gives lip service and homilies and that is the extent of it. we need a manager who knows how to manage. There should be strict enforcement of the rules and the playgrounds should all be closed. I'm pretty sure there are many, many more cases of Coronavirus in Stuyvesant Town than we are told about. When it comes to Blackstone, money is the ONLY thing that is important. Rick's style of management is to not manage. Revenue is the only thing that matters.

Has anybody here had the nose swab test or the Coronavirus? If so, does it hurt? I'd like to be prepared and pop a couple of valium if it's going to hurt.

I am a COWARD and cannot deny it.

Anonymous said...

To "COWARD" -

You're not a coward. It is normal to try to avoid pain.

I had the nose swab test. It doesn't require drugs to experience it. It doesn't feel wonderful (although I've known one or two people who LIKE what most of us avoid!), and there is a reflex reaction, I think, to pull away from it because it does probe more deeply than I would have liked. I don't know that I'd use the word "pain" because it WAS unpleasant, but it didn't hurt.

And it was over very quickly. And I wasn't sore afterward. It was simply over and done.

As with everything related to the body, relaxing our bodies rather than tensing really does help. Telling ourselves it's ok and nothing terrible works!

Anonymous said...

Dear July 8 at 8:00 AM:

Thank you very much for the information and reassurance. I don't know if I need the swab because I am always masked and gloved, but I guess it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Sincerely,

Coward

What does this mean if not another statement from Rick about surrender:

STR, Rick really has no interest in the health and wellbeing of the people who live here, including the children, vulnerable and elderly. He takes his orders from Blackstone and it is all about money. Remember the days when the Gambinos, Lucheses,Colombos, et al used to rule? Well, they are gone and long-forgotten. Now we have Blackstone, Blackrock, Tishman Speyer, Koch Bros., et al. They are ten times more evil and dangerous than the old time mob. Rick is just a soldier. Pity he couldn't do better with his life. Rick is a loser and advertises that fact with every "bulletin" he sends.

They are all talking on the TA site about empty apartments here. NYU is doing in person learning. In August the crap students will be flowing back into the dorms here. Blackstone is just biding it’s time. They are not worried. The students will be back very soon.

I read Rick's newest email on the FB page. (I still don't get his messages in my email box; not by my choice.) Reading his email makes me want to put up a BLM sign at my window. LOL. By what authority (other than Blackstone's wishes) is any request of his legal? Are residents mandated by their lease not to put any sign at their window? This, after weeks go by with a BIG sign at the Oval supporting BLM.

Okay, now that he has gotten some blowback, he will allow signage--temporarily. BTW, he claims signage at windows is against "house rules." What rules are those?

Can somebody please enlighten me: I have always admired the way Governor Cuomo has handled the Coronavirus in New York State and City. I've never particularly liked him and have held my nose and voted for him. Anyway, I had to go see my doctor the other day and he was steaming about how bad Cuomo had handled the pandemic. He said Cuomo rejected the Hospital Ship "Comfort" and the Jacob Javits Center as a place to hospitalize seniors in nursing homes. He said that he left the seniors in the nursing homes, where they infected each other, infected the overwhelmed staff and that he did it for money, i.e. Medicare, etc.

Anybody on this board have any knowledge of this? If it's true, then I am disgusted with Cuomo and will never vote for him under any circumstances in the future.

I am so pissed off. Rick Hayduk is a total asshole. He has no balls and couldn't run a Bodega without running it into the ground. He's not going to enforce the rules concerning dogs shitting all over the grass; he's not going to enforce the rules concerning wearing masks in he playgrounds. He doesn't enforce any of the Quality of Life or Saving of Life rules. What the hell did we do to deserve this loser? He is the most useless, poser and loser and he puts our lives at risk with his cowardice and efforts to appease rule-breakers and his trying to be everyone's friend. With a friend like him, you don't need enemies.

Maybe we could get up a petition to Blackstone to ask them to get rid of this non-Manager and send us somebody who will run the property the way it should be run, e.g., with enforcement of QOL rules. They have no business asking current tenants to recommend this place to friends, etc., because it would be a terrible betrayal of friendship. Not everybody will hoodwink a friend for money. Probably spineless Rick would, but thank God most people are not like he. I hope that each and every one of Covid Gatherings on the Oval (a/k/a Movies on the Oval) are totally rained off or that no one shows up. You would have to be a pretty pathetic individual to show up for one of those pathetic "events."

Where Blackstone and Hayduk are concerned:

I was among the very first to grasp what Blackstone was, and what they would do to us. (I am the Stuyvesant Town resident who wrote more than once about witnessing the press conference on the First Avenue Loop in which the sale to Blackstone was announced. I knew then, literally instantaneously, what would happen. I wish I was wrong then.)

I've had many, many interactions with much of "Management" here. It finally became clear to me that some of "Management" is philosophically aligned with the death-dealing Blackstone. Most aren't. They are frightened people, who want only to have employment, and what that means. Some of them eventually appear to convert to the dark side, drink the Kool-Aid. And some of them eventually, or quickly, become nasty, lying, and callous.

It is a pathetic and utterly destructive coping mechanism, but it is a feature of human behavior. I've come across it in every area of life, especially in my working life. People commit despicable acts as a matter of course in order to survive, as they believe.

"I heard it from the horse's mouth." One of the "horses" here let me know quite recently that what is being done here is NOT wanted, desired, approved by Blackstone employees. Period. What is humane, caring, life-preserving, decent is what is what at least some of the most hated, reviled Blackstone people here, "Management" people want to do.

What many Blackstone employees here at Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper do is not reflective of who they are. This, of course, does NOTHING to save lives, improve our miserable and worsening situation. Yet it is so. And it is just like what most of us do: go along to get along.

Had I not had so many truly ugly and obscene experiences with corporations, companies, employers, supervisors and even family members and friends, experiences similar to what is happening here, I'd doubt what I'm writing as I'm sure many readers will.

All I can tell you is that I've spoken long and earnestly with a couple of the more senior "horses" here in several capacities, and their hands are tied. It is people such as Stephen Schwarzman, Kathleen McCarthy, Jonathan Gray, Nadeem Meghji, and many more of their ilk who are causing all of the suffering.

Been by Hane recently? Walked by last evening, seems they have more tables set up outside then they ever had inside. Tables extended outward taking half the sidewalk, plus tables in the curbside parking spots, leaving only a few feet for passers-by. There were even tables down the block between 410 and 420 E 20th. How is that legal?

No way you can possibly maintain any social distance when you’re squeezed into a gauntlet between rows of unmasked diners! But, you know the motto here: anything for a buck!

Now Rick the Dick is allowing dogs on all the grassy areas. I think his entire purpose in life is to destroy every vestige of a decent quality of life in this place. We'll see patches of brown all over the grass and whatever the dogs don't ruin, the owners will by walking it over it. The Chief Idiot says that because of the Covid Virus all rules are suspended, but he doesn't care if people not wearing masks breath, cough and sneeze their Covid Positive snots and sputum all over anybody and everybody and spread the virus.

I wonder if Rick left his last job of his own accord because he sure is one hell of a lousy Manager. Don't tell me Blackstone gives him the orders because I doubt that anybody at Blackstone micromanages this place. They probably give him free rein to do whatever he likes, and what he does is totally in sync with his lame mentality and approach to the job.

I have so much contempt for his so-called "managerial" style. The man is as dumb as a doorknob.

"I've seen this for a while. Did Rick change his mind again because he doesn't want to enforce this?"

Rick doesn't know how to enforce QOL rules. He doesn't have that kind of skill. He is a resort director/cruise director. Putting on banal "events" and giving feel-good talks and homilies is all he really knows how to do. Look at the fuck-up he made of removing legally-mandated tenant directories and how he has decided not to put the names of the tenants on the doors of newly-occupied apartments. Just like a hotel room, not a place of residence. I have unsubscribed to his so-called Community Updates and try to block him and his inanity out of my mind. He is ruining this place and there is nothing we can do about it. I just don't want to get an email from Peter W asking me to recommend this dump to a friend for a $5 voucher to Chicken Shack or something like that. I might let fly a barrage of every obscenity known to mankind.

I just read some of the Yelp reviews for this place. Ye gods! What they put some people through! Our main complaint is lack of heat in winter. We've been pretty fortunate with neighbors and since a frat house moved out, we don't have to deal with the stench of pot and hooting and braying all night. Some people are not so fortunate and I pity them because I am aware of the fact that the so-called "manager" is a few sandwiches short of a picnic and the fish rots from the head.

Just read that PS doesn't enforce the "No Music" rule on the Oval. Probably told by Horrible Hayduk not to. Soooo, I am going to go back to my old happy activity of feeding the squirrels and birds on the property, including near the Oval. If they harass me I will file a discrimination* complaint because if the rules are not to be enforced, it should apply to ALL rules, not just those that Horrible Hayduk doesn't care about.

*not racial discrimination, but discrimination about what rules they choose to enforce and those they don't. Maybe discrimination is the wrong word, but most people will get my drift. Sick of this shitty, sleazy management style that is imposed here.

Concerning the directories in the lobbies: why are so many people listed as "Private?" Isn't this a sneaky contravention of the NYC laws pertaining to having directories in the lobbies?

I often pick up packages in the Lobby that have been dumped there by LazyShip or FedEx and Amazon and I take them up to the apartments and leave them by the door. If the apt. number is a "Private" I don't bother. If you don't like your name to be listed as living here, don't expect any favors from those of us who want our names on the directory. In other words, you are no neighbor we know or care to know. You're probably an AirBnB or some kind of transient.

Blackstone and its sick, cynical yes-man: Rick Hayduk. I wonder how much they pay Rick to bury his conscience? I'm assuming he has a conscience, but maybe he doesn't.

If the property sees a spike in Coronavirus cases it will be Hayduk's fault - as well as the morons who attended the movie tonight. They clearly don't love their families, especially the youngest and oldest members of their families. I have no sympathy for anybody who gets sick from attending these Covid events. Just don't come anywhere near me and my loved ones. You ASSHOLES.

My laundry card machine has been broken nearly two months. I tried the machine at the rent drop and that is in functional. This is a disgrace. Does the Tenants Association have anything to say about this Covid Events on the shit-stained Oval and the extremely loud volume of the movie?

Anonymous said...

The City of Newark is issuing summonses to people outside without masks. Maybe the City of New York should start doing the same - and they could start with Rick's Covid Parties on the Oval.

I can't believe that Hayduk is so reckless and without ethics and principals as to put on stupid movie events outside on the Oval at this time. But then, I can believe it because he works for Blackstone and I guess that says it all. Also, the fucking noise from the movie could be heard all the way to Avenue A.

I hope people thinking of renting here read this blog because this is the only place where they will learn the truth about what it has become under the Blackstone/Hayduk Regime. The TA is non-existent at this point.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

I'm not a fan of issuing summonses in this case. There is conflicting "evidence" on what wearing or not wearing a face mask does. That said, I still follow the guidelines of the Governor, but I am getting more and more free outside when nobody is around. Six feet distance? Why not four? And why not ten? But, there are certain Stuy Town rules, which, of course, Management doesn't enforce.

Anonymous said...

Calling 911 is a total waste of time, because Blackstone has a sweetheart deal with the Precinct. Cops will only enter here if a murder occurs. And most people in NYC who are issued summonses (for any offense) either carry fake ID or never pay the fine.

Anonymous said...

Movies last night had a volume beyond unreasonable especially since tenants that are scared of catching covid are stuck in their apartments and cannot flee from noise.

Anonymous said...

I called 911 repeatedly last night about the movies on the Oval. I've pictures of crowds, of large, large numbers of people and of an approximately 1 out of 30 people there MASKED.

No, no one responded, despite every dispatcher assuring me cops would come. All of my previous experiences with 911 ended with the statement that whatever I was calling about was NOT an emergency.

Yet, last night, each dispatcher, as well as 311, took me seriously and said cops were coming. One dispatcher called me back to make sure she had the details right, and I truly believed the police would be here.

IS THIS CORRUPTION, FEAR ON THE PART OF THE POLICE or who knows what?

Today Rick posted about next Wednesday's SOCIAL DISTANCE CINEMA!

As well as "take a ferry ride" instead of subway. Wonderful.

Florida, California, Georgia - people dying; daycare centers and the like turning up with many sick folks . . . yet NO ONE IS DOING A DAMNED THING TO STOP BLACKSTONE/BEAM LIVING FROM ALLOWING JACKASSES (Attendees at these "events") TO KILL THEMSELVES, EACH OTHER, THEIR CHILDREN, AND EVERYONE ELSE HERE.

Whether or not one believes in the reports and "experts," the fact is that Stuy Town does not enforce the basketball playing in the courts. Daily I see young adults playing basketball (close up, too) and no mask. It doesn't matter what the signs say. No enforcement.

Anonymous said...

Agreed. I walked past both basketball playgrounds yesterday evening and there were a lot of young men playing basketball and not a single mask to be found. Was not a good look at all.

Anonymous said...

9:25 A.M. Oh, geez! I don't know where to begin - " . . . defunding the police?" Just the opposite. That is one of the many problems with Internet communication: misunderstanding, misinterpretation.

Too much to get into here, but I wouldn't object to a conversation (on the phone). Indicate that you might want to actually TALK about it, and I'll send you my contact information. You'd probably be exceedingly surprised!

The main point is: these days, masses of people such as the one on the Oval most definitely DO cause infection, intense suffering, and death. I wish it were not so. I've been coping with my own myriad new (often unpleasant) circumstances courtesy of hte pandemic since mid-March.

Wishing it away, denying or minimizing it simply often results in many, many, many more cases of this virus infecting others. While I am no fan of any news outlet of any kind these days, I DO believe that thousands of people are sickening, and too many dying, because of human interactions which are completely unnecessary, and only self-indulgent.

And . . . as in the case of that 21 year old young man, I believe, who died from it a couple of days back as a result of a "Covid Party," self-indulgence is killing people as well.

Just to bring this full circle - I'd give the police all across this country much greater latitude.

I'd finally educate every child and adult about how we truly function - as animals, mammals, biologically, so that we could make better choices about our actions.

Anonymous said...

There's no enforcement of any of the rules here and the reason for that is because we have a "manager" with no backbone. He really likes being a resort manager and is totally, totally unsuited for running a huge residential property. He probably regrets that he took the job because it requires a lot more than he is capable of. He wants people to like him and doesn't seem to realize that a good property manager will have people who don't like him because they don't want to obey the rules. Unfortunately for Rick Heyduk, more and more people are coming to despise him for the very things he does in order to be liked. He's just the wrong person in the wrong job. I feel almost sorry for him. He got a handful of people to show up for his "Covid Party" (not that I believe he wishes anybody harm) movie event, but many, many more people were outraged and offended by this because of the obvious health risk and because of the obnoxiously loud soundtrack.
If Rick continues to pander to his fans and ignore the legitimate complaints of the majority of tenants who for legitimate reasons are NOT his fans, he will just get more and reckless and the quality of life and safety of life will just continue to go down the sewer.
I don't know how Blackstone can consider him an asset at this point because word of how this place really is (as opposed to the way they try to market it) is really out there.

Blackstone will consider him an asset because they are BSers, too. Nothing really matters to them but sales. Now with the pandemic an excuse is readily available and also profit--read Schwarzman on the great profit to be made during this time.

"I heard from someone..." I tried to get to the bottom of this and am still waiting.

Meanwhile, this is true:

https://www.cnn.com/2020/07/02/us/california-thomas-macias-coronavirus/index.html

This guy is a diabetic and is clearly overweight, which makes him more susceptible to get the virus and become ill because of it. He is also 51, so that puts him closer to being a senior than someone who is 21. Other possible conditions are not mentioned. Yes, the virus is real, no doubt, but a person has to take care of himself or herself.

Yet another story of our benevolent owner, robbing the people of this country of the American Dream of one day owning a home.

Everybody's blaming Rick for the Covid parties on the Oval, but remember: they went of their own accord. His job is to sell this dump with the gimmicky garbage events. If people are that stupid or desperate for entertainment (maybe can't afford television, poor things) that they will go and sit on the shit-stained Oval to watch an old movie and "socialize," then on their own head be it. I just hope that if any of my neighbors went (and I can't think of anyone I know who would go near one of those things even at tbe best of times), they don't breath anywhere near me. I wear a mask even if I go down to the recycling room or mail box and I haven't seen anybody in my building who is not wearing a mask. Hopefully, we have no idiots in my building, but that crowd on the Oval walk among us!

Oval Pandemic Parties - it is, of course, BOTH Blackstone and the stupid, shallow, selfish, truly mentally deficient people who go, especially those with children.

And who knows who they are and where they live? Here? Two blocks away? The Bronx?

Maybe, just maybe, if some children who live here become seriously ill with this disease, some mother or father or teenage sibling will LEARN something and CHANGE their behaviors.

It is less likely that if 3 or 4 or 5 or 25 people in their twenties and thirties become deathly ill, or die, people will change their behaviors.

Then again, more than one person who works here has related to me speaking to oldsters who insist on sitting close to each other on benches, insisting that dying of this pandemic is better than sitting apart.

OK. 'Not the first time I've been utterly confounded and disgusted by human behavior.

Anonymous said...

The articles referencing the new book, "Under Water" by Ryan Dezember, contain no surprises. Blackstone a predator? A parasite? Oh, what a shock!

I have been begging people to stand up to these morally bankrupt individuals for years now.

I've been pleading with residents, politicians, decent employees working here, not so decent employees working here, to stop dancing with the devil, or paying the devil to live here, or taking money from the devil to enrich themselves and destroy their constituencies.

I've been exhorting residents to find their courage and actually, truly ORGANIZE themselves to oust the parasites.

I've heard so much fear, denial, lies, conditioning, idiocy and weakness of all stripes.

Not even suicides, rapes, assaults moved anyone to show some courage and invest some energy in protecting themselves and neighbors and families and friends.

Slow death now via the virus is OK too.

A friend had a professor years ago who opined that humans have behaved badly since we "fell out of the trees" - since we began walking the earth. "Amen" comes from the Hebrew word for "truth." I say AMEN to his observation.

Thanks Pandemic Rick!

Was just looking at the discarded junk mail left on the shelves in my lobby. It is almost all bank mailings offering student loans, etc. Several pieces address to several different people, but all in the same apartment!

No wonder Slick Rick can't maintain the directories and door nameplates. I doubt he has the faintest idea of who really lives here.

Anonymous said...

I just wish that Rick would use his time and energy to enforce the quality of life rules here and run this place as a residential complex instead of cooking up these dumb events and "recreational" activities. This is not a nursing home, group home or resort. The minority who appreciate these crappy things he comes up with are greatly outnumbered by those of us who don't. Does he think the students (his main source of revenue) want to go see Mary Poppins on the Oval? We have streaming television, etc., if we want to watch movies while the theaters are closed and we don't need to risk a deadly disease by sitting out on the dirty Oval to watch a second rate movie while, at the same time, disturbing people in their apartments with the atrocious soundtrack.

How many people are queuing up at the Oval Cafe to get gastritis and spend a small fortune on the offerings there?

Stuy Town Reporter said...

I'm sure the number of people who don't want these events or are too weary or not interested in complaining is larger than the people who do want them. It's the same every year. But Rick and Blackstone continue on, even with the virus. The promo of these events is for people who are not current renters. It's the sugar that may want them to rent.

Anonymous said...

I doubt that many renters fall for the phony amenities like the third rate movies. They use them and the other crap here to justify high rents, but are still filling this place with students(who will be back soon) , transients, short term roomies and city subsidized . Many of the movie attendees come from outside . True, the movies are a promo but we are not getting long term tenants. I notice a lot of foreign people who may be short term renters.

Anonymous said...

Hard to believe there used to be a several years-long waiting list to get an apartment here. They used no gimmicks then. The attraction was lower-than-average rents and beautiful grounds and a solid security force. Now we have the polar opposite and they are begging for renters. Sad.

Oh, and we had a real property manager who actually managed the property and did an excellent job. Look what we have now. It would be funny if it wasn't such a damned shame.

"He said Cuomo rejected the Hospital Ship "Comfort" and the Jacob Javits Center as a place to hospitalize seniors in nursing homes. He said that he left the seniors in the nursing homes, where they infected each other, infected the overwhelmed staff and that he did it for money, i.e. Medicare, etc.

Anybody on this board have any knowledge of this? If it's true, then I am disgusted with Cuomo and will never vote for him under any circumstances in the future."

Your doctor is correct. The question is why you would ever think otherwise. Cuomo's decisions were never hidden in any way. Why in god's name would you "admire" the way he handled the crisis?"

No that doctor is uninformed yet speaking as though he's an expert--as many doctors do.

The fed government sent the Hospital ship initially NOT to accept ANY COVID patients. It was meant to be used as overflow for anyone in a hospital not infected with COVID. this was a condition of them sending the ship. They didn't want the bother of disinfecting a ship for COVID patients. Cuomo advocated for NY state, and this is the most the feds were willing to send us.

It only turned into a place for COVID patients by an oversight. After people were admitted, they were tested and later found to have COVID. meaning, they probably contracted it from asymptomatic doctors, nurses or other people on the ship that there in contact with, who hadn't been tested for COVID (ie, not patients).

I dont know when your doctor friend thinks Cuomo should have been sending COVID patients from nursing homes to that ship. It was here for awhile NOT as a place for COVID patients of any age.

People love to use this moment to criticize Cuomo, when he has been the only politician to handle this with any intelligence.
By the way the mandate was for nursing homes to care for any seniors that they were able to care for with the resources at hand. If they kept people with conditions that they were not able to treat, that is the fault of the nursing home wanting to maximize their profits, rather than sending out their cash cows to a hospital.

To me that looks like the attempted rape from behind 7 and 9 oval from last summer. Guess the perp is still out there enjoying his freedom."

Honestly, anonymous, I think about this frequently, as my work is interrupted by this very small pathetic group of protesters that march through the private property here.

There have been several rapes, attempted rapes, and assaults on this property, in the last couple of years.

Has anyone rounded up a posse to find a Person of Color resembling the attacker, caught on videotape? Has anyone tried to persecute any person of color due to these attacks? Or insisted on more police presence, or enforcement of the closing of grounds to non-residents?

no. the opposite. the rapes and assaults, all of which were committed by a person of color, were quietly buried and forgotten. One man was caught due to his own stupidity in going to the emergency room. NOthing to do with zealous cops looking for someone to charge and prosecute.

These stupid fucking BLM protesters. They love to see themselves as persecuted. They are the ones doing the persecuting here. How about more police, more effort put into finding those who attack women and who have been CAUGHT ON TAPE? how did this not result in an arrest?? The police don't care about these crimes.

We are not living in the age of Emmett Till. These people need to pull their heads out of their asses and stop seeing themselves as perpetual victims.

Reminds me: Have they ever shown a R-rated film in the Oval?

Anonymous said...

To repeat, Mandingo is NOT a racist movie. In fact, it depicted the horrors of American slavery, way ahead of its time. Plus nobody is protesting the death of a young black woman in Brooklyn who was shot 8 times and killed by a man she'd politely asked to stop setting off firecrackers earlier this month. In doing so, she was only following the 'recommendations' of black Borough President (and ex-cop) Eric Adams. Latter, BTW, is in the running to succeed De Blasio....

This is so disgusting and dangerous. I think Rick has sold his soul because to put on these "events" during a pandemic, knowing all the risks, is totally reckless and borderline criminal. He'll be held accountable eventually and I'm sure he knows it.

If the noise gets intrusive, I hope all those affected call 311 repeatedly. Probably, most of the attendees will be from outside - and not people who will ever be likely to rent here!

Though he will say that he cares, the fact is that Blackstone here is following the more "freer" views of this pandemic. There are different views of the best way to handle this pandemic, and Blackstone and Rick are proceeding onward. At least, Rick does not own a bar. LOL.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Having said that, I have to say that I am very sympathetic to restaurants that are losing business during this pandemic. That is why I support restaurants that have to set up tables outside, even if passing by for the pedestrian is more difficult. I think of my own problems during this crisis, and then these restaurant owners who are suffering much, much more.
