If you are a senior and need assistance, this info in Rick's new letter:
"Are you someone who is ‘at risk’ and don’t have a support network of
friends or family locally that can help? Please reply to this email {I will find out to make sure what email--STR} or
call 212.420.5000, and we will connect you with a volunteer in our
community that can help."
And don't worry to the point of panic. All of us are worried to a certain extent, but we also are all in this, so really you are not alone.

Blackstone, your landlord, is written about below
and now this:
* * *
Here we go again. Our "landlord," (Blackstone in the person of Rick) has sought to minimize or ignore the incidents that occurred a week ago. There has been no public statement about these incidents even though a senior citizen and another person were assaulted/punched/threatened with violence/whatever by a naked resident who may have had issues. Later, there was the incident where this naked man was out in the Oval. Public Safety and the police appeared. Screaming was heard, etc. Not a word from Management about these incidents for over a week. We have been here before where Management has sought to ignore or minimize what is happening here for the sake of the unaware potential renters ($) that Blackstone hopes will come to this place. Wrong move.Update, 4/30: The two incidents happened on 4/21. Management has been silent, but today there was an email to residents (which I never get, despite telling Resident Services at least twice about my email address). I quote: "Final update on the unfortunate event of last week. The assailant's household has vacated the apartment and terminated the lease. The assailant never returned to the building as requested. Our thoughts remain with those who were involved in this incident."
Only residents of this building got this email. I note the word "final."

«Oldest ‹Older 801 – 891 of 891The gatherings in the Oval are absolute festering spots for spreading the virus. Expect to see a BIG SPIKE in infection this summer and we will be in total, indefinite lockdown in the Fall. I bet Hayduk is nowhere near the place and is ruling from afar. What does he care if most of the tenancy dies? They'll fill the place up again and probably won't even bother to disinfect it. We know that they desperately want the older tenants to die.
>>STR, are you serious?<<
Of course, I'm not.
Hayduk if nothing else is incompetent. Look no further than his emails in which he surrenders to the handful of people who refused to wear masks despite the Governor REQUIRING it. Those emails are all the proof one would need to file a very large class action lawsuit against Beam Living, SPS and Blackstone. Many tenants associations across the country have already begun suing their owners without the smoking gun Rick gave to any one interested in moving forward with a suit. If there was a tenants association here I am confident in saying they would have filed already but since one does not exist here individuals will be forced to join together.
TO THOSE WHO UNDERSTAND AND ACCEPT THAT HAYDUK, JASON KALISH (THE NEW "SENIOR COUNSEL" HERE SINCE FRED KNAPP RETIRED) AND VARIOUS OTHER PERSONNEL HERE AND IN OTHER BLACKSTONE LOCATIONS ARE KNOWINGLY INVITING AND ENCOURAGING PEOPLE TO CAUSE THE ILLNESS AND DEATH OF MANY PEOPLE HERE:
WILL YOU PLEASE FINALLY CONTACT ME SO THAT WE CAN STOP THE OVAL FROM BECOMING THE KILLING FIELD HERE???

>>refused to wear masks despite the Governor REQUIRING it<<
You have to mention the complete requirement from the governor. Wearing a mask is only required if you can't do social distancing.
I wonder how the AirBnB business is going here? Strangers coming into the "community" bearing all kinds of hazards from bedbugs to Covid-19. Does Blackstone/Hayduk care? Naaah, of course not. Don't be silly.
"I don't know what people expect from Rick Hayduk. He does the job he's paid to do and I doubt he has much choice as to how he does it. He doesn't own the place. The EVIL is at the top and Rick Hayduk is not at the top."
I'm going to follow up every BS statement like this with the best answer I have ever seen on this thread:
"Didn’t cut it in Germany and doesn’t cut it here."
You have to mention the complete requirement from the governor. Wearing a mask is only required if you can't do social distancing.
Since there isn't any walkway in PCVST that an individual can walk on and be 6 feet away it really isn't relevant except to those looking to violate the law. It also applies to everyone over the age of 2, yet children ride bikes, scooters, etc all over the place without masks. They are just as dangerous as the runners who refuse to wear masks as they leave a trail of germs behind, which could contain covid. The liability here for the owner is tremendous. 30k+ people filing suit OUCH! Blackstone, Beam etc., really need to get busy bribing government officials to pass immunity from liability or the will pay BIG.
>>Since there isn't any walkway in PCVST that an individual can walk on and be 6 feet away it really isn't relevant except to those looking to violate the law.<<
Yes, but depending where, you can sit on a bench and maintain the 6 feet distance for sure. At this time, you are not walking.
Yes, but depending where, you can sit on a bench and maintain the 6 feet distance for sure. At this time, you are not walking.
OK
None of this "where you sit or walk" is helpful.
ANYONE NOT WEARING A MASK CAN BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ILLNESS AND DEATHS OF HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE. PERIOD.
I am pleading with people now - and this is the first time ever, in many years of reading and writing on this blog, that I have PLEADED with people: stop debating whether not we ALL NEED TO WEAR MASKS TO PROTECT OTHER PEOPLE FROM ILLNESS AND POSSIBLE AGONIZING DEATH.
If we lived in houses apart from other people, fine. We don't.
NOTHING TO DO WITH ANY GOVERNOR, PRESIDENT, EXPERT OF ANY KIND, "AUTHORITY" OR "LAW" OF ANY KIND.
THIS VIRUS IS A KILLER; IT IS TRANSMISSIBLE FROM HUMAN TO HUMAN THROUGH BREATHING, COUGHING, SNEEZING, WHEEZING, SPITTING, SPEAKING.
IF anyone reading this cares just a little for the lives of anyone else on the streets and pathways and anywhere outside, they will wear a mask when not absolutely stationary and out of the way of others. And, if it isn't a breathing problem, a matter of claustrophia or something similar, THEN WEAR A MASK ALL OF THE TIME, NOSE AND MOUTH DOWN OVER YOUR CHIN IF YOU GIVE A DAMN IF WE LIVE OR DIE.
Since there isn't any walkway in PCVST that an individual can walk on and be 6 feet away it really isn't relevant except to those looking to violate the law.
Sorry, but you don’t get to add your own personal addendum to the actual order (NOT law, it was never passed by the state legislature).
All the available contact tracing done worldwide has proven the risk of outdoor transmission by passers by is so low as to be nearly non-existant.
>>All the available contact tracing done worldwide has proven the risk of outdoor transmission by passers by is so low as to be nearly non-existant.<<
I basically agree. (Gasp!) I obey the governor's directive (that he and his brother have violated!), but as of now I don't want to be fined (can't afford it) and see other people terrified because of the lack of face masks. Personally, I am getting real tired of this wearing mask shit. And no, I don't think I or anyone else will die because I'm not wearing a mask. We have placed ourselves in a bind: If we truly believe that a mask is necessary, then we will not open up our city. Most stores, subways, just sitting in cafe. Banned because of our fear.
There used to be a saying in NY and in America. "Say it, don't spray it." Means if you are talking to someone else, use common courtesy. Also, don't cough in the street without covering your month. This was common way before the pandemic. This was "our directive."
This mask nonsense is hysteria.
The following comment by poster 7:23PM, May 26th, borders on delusional:
ANYONE NOT WEARING A MASK CAN BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ILLNESS AND DEATHS OF HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE. PERIOD.
Just use a little common sense people!
Sure, wear a mask when appropriate and maintain social distancing.
Whatever is the reality of a person's own health is a concern. Own health. One can't mandate another person's actions just for your own health when that person is doing nothing to you. Of course, "evidence" can be given that someone who is not concerned is harming you, but then we get into a neverending debate on what is right or wrong concerning you. I go by this rule: If I am not harming you, then please leave me alone.
How do you know you're not harming me?
All the available contact tracing done worldwide has proven the risk of outdoor transmission by passers by is so low as to be nearly non-existant.
Fake news. Show your source.
Then it's time to open baseball with full attendance.
>>How do you know you're not harming me?<<
Maybe my face does. And I'm joking. Any excuse is good for some. That said, I (repeat "I") don't consider that a possibility.
I think anyone who refuses to wear a mask when they're outside and around people is a total asshole. If you had a family member, as I do, who is fighting for their life in the hospital, you would think twice about being so selfish and self-absorbed.
Fake news? Google is your friend, there have been several studies, many such articles, here’s just one:
https://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/494348-new-study-finds-few-cases-of-outdoor-transmission-of-coronavirus-in-china
As for the inane baseball statement: see if you can tell the difference between two people briefly passing by on the street and 40,000 of them packed in a stadium for a few hours of shouting and cheering. It’s a subtle difference, but with some effort you may be able to perceive it.
It appears that many of us may have contracted the disease and be either
asymptomatic (never suffering from any of the symptoms and therefore DO NOT KNOW THAT YOU HAVE IT AND ARE SPREADING IT TO OTHER PEOPLE) or
presymptomatic (you are already ill with it but have yet to suffer symptoms and therefore
DO NOT KNOW THAT YOU HAVE IT AND ARE SPREADING IT TO OTHER PEOPLE)
I am very sorry for all of us. There might be paranoia of any variety, and people may be "sick of this shit," but the virus spreads very easily out of people's nostrils and mouths.
I am very sorry that any one of you (and I KNOW, PERSONALLY, at least one of you) believes that this is all an individual matter. It ain't. We are literally causing the illnesses, suffering, and deaths of other people by our self-centered, selfish behaviors. This is not theory, opinion, feeling, emotion. This is what is happening on this planet. Read the newspapers, look at any online or screen news, listen to the radio.
ONE PERSON WHO EITHER DOESN'T KNOW THEY ARE ALREADY ILL WITH COVID-19, OR DOES NOT "GIVE A SHIT" MANAGES TO SPREAD IT TO OVER 100 PEOPLE. Fact, not paranoia or crazy ranting.
Under most circumstances, most of us are selfish, self-centered bits of protoplasm. Under these trying circumstances, we are now selfish, self-centered bits of protoplasm who are knowingly killing others through selfishness and then denying it, calling other people names and insulting them.
The virus is the entity that doesn't give a shit about any of us, only itself. Stop cooperating with it, please. Call me or anyone else names, but protect those around you from the killer virus. Please.
New York Times, 05/15/20:
While the risk of outdoor transmission is low, it can happen. In one study of more than 7,300 cases in China, just one was connected to outdoor transmission. In that case, a 27-year-old man had a conversation outdoors with a traveler who had just returned from Wuhan. Seven days later, he had his first symptoms of Covid-19.
One in 7300? I’ll play those odds all day.
STR, don't come anywhere near me without a mask. Please.
Chia Wang of National Sun Yat-sen University in Taiwan, as well as Kimberly Prather and Dr. Robert Schooley of the University of California, San Diego, said that a large proportion of the COVID-19 spread appears to be occurring through the airborne transmission of aerosols. They added the transmission was produced by asymptomatic individuals during breathing and speaking.
On Tuesday, the experts said that for society to resume as normal, measures must be implemented to reduce aerosol transmission, which includes the universal wearing of masks — in addition to widespread testing. They believe both practices could help identify and isolate those infected asymptomatic individuals.
The perspective article stated that countries — like Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and South Korea — have implemented universal masking and were the most effective in reducing the spread of COVID-19.
The six feet of social distancing guidelines by the WHO is based on studies of respiratory droplets in the 1930s. However, technology didn’t exist at the time for detecting tiny aerosol particles, the experts stated.
Smaller aerosols will evaporate faster than they can settle, they added. Because of that, they can be affected by air currents, which can transport them over long distances and cause them to stay in the air for hours.
“A lot of the evidence has been pointing to aerosol transmission of respiratory viruses,” Prather told WebMD. “This particular virus, a lot of evidence is mounting.”
This month, a study by scientists in Hong Kong found that using surgical masks could reduce the rate of non-contact transmission through respiratory droplets or airborne particles by up to 75 percent.
>>STR, don't come anywhere near me without a mask. Please.<<
Where did I say that I would pass anyone not wearing a mask? (Myself.) Sitting alone, and following the governor's directive, harms no one.
>>I am very sorry that any one of you (and I KNOW, PERSONALLY, at least one of you) believes that this is all an individual matter. It ain't.<<
It is an individual matter at the core. Sorry. That's the way it is.

LOL, a totally refuted report from China posted on The Hill is your proof...LOL. Doesn't get any dumber than that.
Yes, it is an individual matter. An individual decides how they behave based upon what and WHOM they believe is important. Simple.
That being said, because you, specifically, do cover your mouth and nose whenever another human is anywhere near you, then you in fact do believe that other humans' health and lives are important.
This is good to read/know. Thank you.
When this is all said and done probably 1/3 to 1/2 of all Americans will be infected with this coronavirus. You can't stop this virus. You can only slow the spread so hopefully our healthcare system isn't overwhelmed at any point in time. The hope is for some anti-viral treatments to be available in the Fall until some effective vaccines are developed probably some time next year. Even with a vaccine or vaccines we don't know the efficacy so the virus will continue to spread though at a much lower rate. Also consider how many people WILL NOT get the vaccine even when it's available.
I'm not trying to scare anyone but there's a good chance we might be living with this for a number of years. We don't have enough data about this virus yet to know if we will need an annual vaccine like we need with the flu bug.
The irony is that many of us are wearing masks and have already been infected but didn't know it. Testing is only now starting to pick up but has been abysmal. Once infected you likely will have some immunity but we don't have the data to determine how long the immunity will last. It will take about another year of data before we have a greater understanding of this virus.
In the end most of us will survive and we'll get through this though there is more pain and death to come.
I agree.
Even today, I saw leaf blowers working. Before the virus, I was against this leaf blowing thing, but now with virus, it is insane to blow with force anything into the air, and, yes, onto pedestrians with the debris and anything else still hovering.
“Totally refuted” ,“Fake news”
Got it. Sounds like a Rose Garden press conference.
Think about it. If one could be infected just by casually passing another person on the street for a few seconds, there would literally be millions with the virus in NYC alone. Better yet, don’t think about it, too much strain.
Hi Quietenjoymentnow,
Why are you hiding behind being anonymous? What’s your plan?
This blog is serious entertainment for the rest of the normal population of people who aren’t old, cranky and complain about everything.
Anyway, keep complaining. We love it.

Today's e-mail message from Rick regarding activities here and the virus is markedly different from anything he's written yet. And it has now convinced me, after years of changing my mind about who and what Rick Hayduk really is, that he is not the evil man many people have insisted he is. Why?
The e-mail could have been written by two different people - one a totally indifferent, callous, and perhaps clueless, idiot. The other person is someone who cares deeply about other people, worries about the devastation the virus is wreaking upon all of us.
The first half of Rick's "Covid 19 Update" announces the re-opening of the Green Market this Sunday and children's day camp (when exactly, I forget). This is invitation to a spike in the coronavirus right here in Stuyvesant Town, and attendant illness, suffering, and possible/likely death.
(And remember, folks: the Seattle Times reported today (May 28, 2020) that HALF OF THE NEWLY DIAGNOSED CASES OF CORONA ARE OCCURRING IN PEOPLE UNDER 40. So much for the youngsters who think themselves invulnerable. And for the children, too, who do indeed become ill with some dreadful symptoms.)
The second half of Rick's "Covid 19 Update" makes it clear that he is personally deeply troubled by both the ravages of the disease, AND THE BEHAVIORS OF THOSE PEOPLE HERE WHO DON'T GIVE A GOOD GODDAMN ABOUT THE LIVES OF OTHERS. Previous to today, he has never expressed either so much distress, or so much barely concealed anger at how some of us insist upon endangering all of us.
Rick, as we all know, has spent the last several years trying to "balance" out the "competing demands" of residents regarding "events," bicycles, etc. "Balance" and similar words have been the party line, the bullshit.
It is crystal clear to me that Rick has been ordered to do all of this sh*t and yet he himself don't like, don't approve, don't want it, but does it because the great and beneficent overlord said, "Do this or you are out of a job, benefits, ability to be employed elsewhere" and who the hell knows what.
I've spoken with him many, many times and at great length. I was confused, bewildered up until now about his part in all of this. I went back and forth about who and what he was.
No more. In plain English: the "re-openings" here are ORDERED by the killing bastards who destroy the Amazon Forest and destroy people's ability to have shelter all over this planet. They, as most of us know, are sick, sick people. This is from the top - Schwarzman, John Gray and a whole bunch of other names you can find by looking up the company.
Rick himself, I am nearly 100% certain, said "No" to these re-openings. I was hopeful after one talk that they would do the right thing. It is clear to me tonight that he was overruled by the filth which is "big business." And he is distraught about it because he knows what the results will be.
There are more reasons I now am completely sure of WHO is destroying us and endangering lives. And it is not what I would term "local." It is from the "owners."
I'm sure also that some people are going to weigh in with opposing comments and even nasty ones at that. I cannot help that.
I'm too tired and too worn-out and feel too sad for all of us to argue.
There used to be a saying, "Peace out." Well, I now pray for peace, along with shelter, rest, food, medical care, and companionship for every human soul these days.
Stand Up and Fight@8:59 PM: I think you are absolutely right. I don't believe that Rick is an evil man. No way is he an evil man. I wouldn't mind wagering that he regrets that he left a nice job in Florida to come here and serve the Satan that is Blackstone and I feel pretty sure that he wasn't totally aware of just how evil they actually are. It's probably too late for him to turn back now because he needs the job and has a family to support, including a young daughter who has special needs (and who I know he absolutely adores). For some time now I have winced at some of the remarks which express such contempt for the man and I expect to get a lot of nasty comments for having said that, but I really don't think it's fair to demonize the man. He'll never make all of us happy. Nobody could! But I think he does the best he can to run this place well with as much leeway as the Satanic Ones allow him.
Blackstone and its principals are evil and greedy to a level of Biblical proportions, but there have always been people like that in the world. They will get their commupance eventually, but that isn't for or to know or care about.
SU&F:
One word: Unsubscribe.
Preferably with a nasty note in the comments field.
Your life will be improved.
"As for the inane baseball statement: see if you can tell the difference between two people briefly passing by on the street and 40,000 of them packed in a stadium for a few hours of shouting and cheering. It’s a subtle difference, but with some effort you may be able to perceive it."
"Think about it. If one could be infected just by casually passing another person on the street for a few seconds, there would literally be millions with the virus in NYC alone. Better yet, don’t think about it, too much strain."
I'll type slower so you can keep up. Yes two people passing on the street can in fact transmit the disease. Where have you been? Is your head firmly lodged between your butt cheeks. That is precisely the reason masks are required. If the disease cant be passed that way as you say then lets extrapolate your figures from the 2 casual contacts to a larger scale since it is not harmful, right. So lets say a baseball stadium holds 73000 people (I know most don't but I'm trying to simplify the problem so even you can understand) given the 1 in 7300 number stated that would mean only 10 people would get sick. Of those (since the death rate is less than 10%) only one person of the 73,000 would potentially die. Why stop a multi billion dollar industry over that when far more die from other causes and yet life still goes on?
I don't want you to hurt yourself overthinking but millions do have the virus, most are asymptomatic. Additionally, there are several videos online that illustrate how a single person sneezing in a store can infect the entire store or check out the one on joggers without masks and how they can infect people all along their route even well after they have passed by. Clearly, Google is not your friend.
"It is crystal clear to me that Rick has been ordered to do all of this sh*t and yet he himself don't like, don't approve, don't want it, but does it because the great and beneficent overlord said, "Do this or you are out of a job, benefits, ability to be employed elsewhere" and who the hell knows what."

"Social distancing required at all times."
There is ZERO PS enforcement of this right now.
I'll wager Rick loves cashing his check every week and doesn't give a rat's ass about anyone as long as he keeps getting one. Evil is as evil does.

Rick plainly stated that there wouldn't be any enforcement in his two surrender letters. The good news is that doesn't relieve him/them of liability for that surrender.
>>I don't know where to begin today I am so pissed off. That NY Times puff piece on Kelly Vohs.<<
Nice reading, and yes a fluff piece, but the Times is very friendly with what goes on here. Having gone to the other ST sites, I will note the attention that has been on Vohs' statement that he has three dogs. If true, and he doesn't have more than one apartment, it is against Stuy Town policy to have more than two dogs in an apartment. Ah, well...
One wonders if Vohs will be taking over for Hayduk. Certain signs, including this NY Times article.
"Nice reading, and yes a fluff piece, but the Times is very friendly with what goes on here. "
1.23 PM here. The NY Times, the NY Daily News and, of course, the worst of all, the NY Post have all been bought and paid for by REBNY.
"and he doesn't have more than one apartment"
I seriously doubt he has more than one apartment in PCVST. There was no mention of that in the article. Anyway, wouldn't that be illegal under the primary resident statutes of the NYS/RS/HSTPA law?
"One wonders if Vohs will be taking over for Hayduk. Certain signs, including this NY Times article."
Doubt it. He does not have the major PR/BS skills of Hayduk.
The second half of Rick's "Covid 19 Update" makes it clear that he is personally deeply troubled by both the ravages of the disease
I’m glad I don’t get those any more because they just used to piss me off. He rents to no one but entitled millennials, then is deeply troubled because they act like....entitled millennials?
The irony!
I am going to cancel my subscription to the NYT. What a total load of crap that fluff piece was. The NYT must be up Blackstone's asshole.
Anybody who works for Blackstone in any kind of executive position is working for Satan. Blackstone owns hospitals and nursing homes and puts profits before anything else. I hope this Vohs creature isn't taking over because I think he is probably more dangerous than Rick.
I notice there is no comment section attached to the NYT puff piece on Vohs. I wonder if that was part of the deal? It is such a load of fucking bullshit. Most of those 3000 cameras (paid for by tenants) are not watched or don't work. Everything in that article was just bought-and-paid-for advertising by Blackstone. I have no more respect for the NYT. They should write about the harm that Blackstone does to people throughout the world. The destruction of people's lives with their greed in the housing market and the destruction and ruination of people's health with their greed in the healthcare market. I've never been in favor of Socialism, but these kind of people make it look very attractive. Blackstone is a more evil a predator than any disease rampant on the planet because they are a human disease and there seems to be no cure or antidote.
Always good for a laugh or two. So I went to the two Facebooks about Stuy Town, and I saw the several comments from residents about the "negativity" concerning the Vohs' piece and particularly his ownership of three dogs (against published ST rules) and his photo on a roof (residents are not allowed on roofs). So there you have it: Some residents will be against this, some think it's just "negativity."
The order: Do as I say, not what I do.
He also rents to students . NYU NYU NYU. Over 60 percent. City subsidized too. Even tourists. Nobody will pay over 3500 to live in this dump without sharing rent.
Good luck with the opening of businesses. At Citibank today I saw social distancing violated big time at the self service ATMs. Instead of curtailing use to every other , people were standing a foot or two away from each other when all were used. To top it all an employee was talking to a customer with his mask down right next to me. I am tired of being an overseer so I didn’t say anything to him. We will never get this virus contained especially as more and more businesses open and are lax in social distancing.
I don't go into businesses where the employees or customers are not wearing masks. There's nothing I need badly enough that I will patronize such an establishment.
:Always good for a laugh or two. Somebody commented that it was just negativity and the most adversarial person on the planet commented that some people are always adversarial to Management! LOL!
9:43 at night, Saturday . . .
For health reasons, I need to get some good sleep and instead I learn of the shutting down of part of the FDR here, a group of people on the move at East 14th and Avenue B toward the so-called protests against police brutality. All over the City, for how many nights in a row now? The helicopters have been here for hours now.
Earlier in the day, it occurred to me that if it gets crazy enough, and violent enough, our lovely, privileged enclave here (I AM BEING SARCASTIC) could come under literal attack, along with the West Village, the Upper East Side, parts of Brooklyn, etc.
This is PERFECT. Covid-19, set to sicken and kill thousands of more people due to the "reopening" planned for the City and the commercial enterprises here beginning TOMORROW MORNING.
PERFECT: people sick, dying, dead of coronavirus. Millions out of work and out of money and threatened with homelessness. Hot weather setting in. "Bored" people who are going out of their minds, some abusing spouses and children. Children driving their parents nuts for months. Then, some violent, insane, hate-filled people kill someone and it becomes what I term news pornography - played repeatedly for days and stimulating people's passions. (Did you know that the centers which control sex, and violence, are next to each other in the human brain?)
PERFECT EXCUSE FOR RIOTING, DESTROYING NEIGHBORHOODS, DESTROYING AND ROBBING THE VERY STORES YOU NEED. WE'VE SEEN THIS BEFORE IN THIS COUNTRY. ONLY NOW PEOPLE WERE OUT OF CONTROL BECAUSE OF THE VIRUS BUT HAD NO WAY TO EXPRESS THEIR MISERY, FEAR, ANGER. SO THIS IS A PERFECT EXCUSE TO CHANNEL ALL OF THOSE FEELINGS INTO UTTER DESTRUCTION.
I am not saying that we aren't broken and sick where race is concerned. We most certainly are. Nothing has changed here the way it needs to. But much of the hatred and huge gatherings are a way to vent feelings people have been unable to cope with for nearly 3 months now.
I am not a big "end of the world" fan. But given the killer virus, the people without money or jobs, the racial hatred, the stoking up the government and wealthy people do of the unhealthy passions of the rest of us . . . streets and buildings and businesses and cars burning . . . hey, maybe we're almost there.
I wonder what Blackstone is contemplating to help protect us if this madness, mayhem and violence continues and spreads After all, they could easily literally close Stuyvesant and Cooper off, gate them so to speak. Would they?
Well, at least one of the ST Facebooks (the non-official one) has been taken over by the "peaceful protestors" whom I have never seen before. Ha, ha, ha. I know the game very well. Try that shit here. LOL. Now let's see about the other one....
Right now the coast is clear on the other one, though residents are starting to comment about these "peaceful protests." The TA probably accepts new members slowly if they are awake and when they awake....
Somebody commented that it was just negativity and the most adversarial person on the planet commented that some people are always adversarial to Management! LOL!
Stuy Town Karen!
"Stuy Town Karen!"
I don't get that. The lady's name isn't Karen.

None of the How I Spend my Sunday articles have comments.
The TA to its people on that TA Facebook page: "Folks, remember that while Rome is burning, you can still fiddle like Nero. We still want that seat at the table with our lord and master, so let's keep everything happy and prove that all residents are Good Neighbors."
"I don't get that. The lady's name isn't Karen."
You're kidding? Right?
Google "Karen".
Sigh.
With all the mayhem going on around us, looting and burning, I hope we have enough protection here. A few mall cops, 3000 non-working or Unwatched cameras as well as our glass doors pinned open, I don’t think we are safe.
The Oval and the Sunday Green Market:
A Covid 19 Delight!
Way to Go, Rick!
No, we are decidedly not safe.
Not safe from looters, murderers, fires, molotov cocktails, assault, rape, being stabbed, shot, robbed.
AGAIN: BLACKSTONE COULD EASILY NOW GATE US, PREVENT CRIMINALS FROM ENTERING STUYVESANT TOWN AND PETER COOPER VILLAGE.
Not safe: The coronavirus will now have parties with millions of their little selves and infect many, many, many more of us. Including children (do you hear that, understand that, so-called mothers of children here???)
Party hearty, folks. Good times. End times for sooo much we've known. Bruno's and all of those hard-working, overworked, underpaid people are gone. Our T-Mobile guys are gone, and suffering now with no income. And they were exceptionally good, helpful, knowledgeable and caring people.
But, hey, who cares? I gotta have f*cking pizza parties on ALL of the lawns here with my best friends?
"AGAIN: BLACKSTONE COULD EASILY NOW GATE US, "
No, that would be against NYC law. One of the founding establishment clauses for PCVST when it was built was that it would have "open access". It's still private property and for playgrounds, the Oval, the Cafe, etc, one can restrict and should restrict access to (but we know they don't) but anyone, as long as they are not breaking the law or the private property rules ( I know, not enforced), can enter the grounds here. EOS.
This picnicking on the lawns all over the Sty is unacceptable. Many of them are drinking alcohol, not wearing masks and do not live here. It is an ugly look. Since parks are not open, they flock here. All over the lawns.
As we have so little security/public safety (whatever they call themselves) and absolutely no protection from NYPD, I think we should have all those MCIs we are paying for for the "enhanced" security presence" cancelled and refunded to us.
We have no security protection here whatsoever. The original "Security" was quite a beefy and proactive and fully present force. When we became what is basically a dorm, those guys were fired and these undertrained, ineffective (scaredy cat!) young mall cops were hired. They are nothing more than window dressing and do absolutely nothing. "They don't like to get involved." As they are likely to be minimum wage, low benefits, poorly trained kids with no job security, why should they put themselves out there! If we had had a Tenants Association (which we clearly DO NOT) Management would be sued for false advertising when it comes to Security and for misleading and endangering the lives of the thousands of tenants (some very vulnerable, either by very young age or advanced age.
They have one woman there who was a genuine police officer and now maybe she is the den mother to the kids on the force.
The whole concept of this being a safe, secure residential property with its own crack security force protecting it is a s ludicrous as the idea that we have a fair and honest intelligent president who cares about nothing more running the country by the rule of law and justice and fairness for all.
Now chew on that last idea and draw your own conclusions. Some of us still have active brain cells.

Yes, but during the outside open-pool time at Asser Levy one of the gates is almost closed and PS stands there to make sure the kids (you know who) don't use that section to use it to go the Lower East Side, where they live. Even in this day and age.

Now THAT should not be allowed. I am sure Rick knows this, but he has just washed his hands of it all. Just abdicated responsibility. He knows he's not capable of running this place properly and now he doesn't even try.
At the risk of being a broken record, does anybody else still miss Associated? I lived almost next door to them and was in there everyday. The staff was nice; they always had what I needed and the prices were good.
Even without the crowds to get in, I really dislike TJ and Target. I go down to Associated on Avenue C. It's a schlep and they don't have everything I want (like the 14th Street store did), but it has most thing and the people are just as lovely and friendly as the people who worked on 14th. That was such a sorely needed "amenity." Rick can keep his whatever they are "amnenities" I just miss Associated. Sob!
Hayduk keeps sending these phony e-mails. Today he sent one on hate. Why doesn’t he pay attention to managing this place, not on his abstract pronouncements.

Yes, I am aware of that, the issue came up at the TA FB page but since it's only one gate, I bet that they can get away with that action. Also, just post 9/11, they had officers checking the IDs of cars that came into the loop roads but pedestrians were not checked.
Never thought I'd ever feel this way, but I wish Giuliani was the Mayor right now. He'd had these mother-fucking looters shot on sight.
At least Rick banned those dangerous books from entering the oval. You can't have everything.
ALL DOORS MUST BE SECURED NOW.
NO ONE WITHOUT A KEY CARD CAN ENTER A BUILDING, OTHER THAN DELIVERY PEOPLE, OR THOSE WHO CARE FOR OTHERS.
NYC IS BEING DESTROYED BY SAVAGE, VIOLENT CRIMINALS.
>>Never thought I'd ever feel this way, but I wish Giuliani was the Mayor right now. He'd had these mother-fucking looters shot on sight.<<
Very much doubt it. But he would have more force out there and use it.
Are the outer doors and laundry and carriage rooms still wide open?
8:00 pm curfew tonight.
Another rule to “enforce”!
"Some will rob you with a six-gun, and some with a fountain pen"--Pretty Boy Floyd song lyrics by Woody Guthrie (1939); later covered by Bob Dylan.
My inner security door is hooked open all the time. What gives?
I think that Citibikes new slogan should be ..."Citibikes, the looters choice".
And some will save you with a six-gun and some will save you with a fountain pen.
Nobody will save us! LOL! I just hope that there will be no more looting and destruction tonight. DeBlasio needs to get off his high-handed ass and start protecting the people of NYC. This isn't Cuba and he is not the Mayor of Havana (or wherever) and we want some AMERICAN JUSTICE. Doesn't have to be deadly, but don't let the poor babies "underclass" get away with mayhem. That doesn't do them or us any good. Don't insult hardworking black voters by taking their vote for granted if you don't crack down hard on the perpetrators of the violence and vandalism - and you certainly don't do any homage to the poor guy, George Floyd, who was the victim of vile, racist cops. You are just feeding into their sick agenda.
Yes, fountain pens.
They are a marvelous hobby. Handwriting, beautiful inks, fancy handwriting (calligraphy), the ritual of cleaning them, filling them. Writing slowly so that you can THINK - a lost art.
Lots and lots of reasons a fountain pen can save you.
- from a fountain pen lover
June 2 at nearly 10:30
Night after night of helicopters and thousands of basically partying jackasses in the streets.
New slogans: My Life Matters
I Can’t Sllep
Correction: "I can't sleep."
Hopefully, the helicopters every night, and fear of other noise, rioting, looting and violence is over. Hopefully, individual people are finding honesty, compassion, caring in their hearts for all of us, including every other creature on the Earth and Mama Earth herself!
