Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village constantly use leaf blowing, despite their promotion at being a sustainable community, reducing greenhouse emissions and LEED certification. (That certification costs money, and the building complex is not inspected again.) Leaf blowing is a heath hazard. We are told that even after the leaves have been blow way, the blowers "put into the air little fragments of leaves, and other dust which could be irritating, and could aggravate asthma with exposure. Additionally, there are the exhaust fumes from gas-powered blowers." Here, in this complex which encourages dogs, there is the certainly that particles of dog refuse can be traveling in the air with these blowers. Yummy!
I have seen, and personally was "blown" by such leaf blowers, who use their blowers in the morning, when people are going to work (and later, too). Typically people off to work try to avoid the blowers, but this avoidance is every brief. Residents frequently pass through the kicked-up air on their way to work, shop, or, if they are younger, school. Stuyvesant is too small for the amount of people in the complex to allow this. And we are not even mentioning Covid or other viruses that may be put into the air briefly.
The reason Stuyvesant Town uses leaf blowing is that it gets the job done quickly. That's it. Before, rakes were used, but that takes time and taking time costs Blackstone money. But the rules may be changing, legally. There is a state bill up that may prohibit leaf blowers. Of course, our City Council (which got a pay raise of over 33%) should adopt this resolution, too, and sooner rather than later (or never). Perhaps, our councilman, Keith Powers, can introduce this legislation and work toward its implementation?
Stuyvesant Town is doing residents a harm with these leaf blowers. Management and Blackstone should know it. But, even if they don't, they are warned now. Next is a lawsuit if nothing changes.

«Oldest ‹Older 801 – 997 of 997Two observations:
1. This "Lunar New Year" Chinese/Japanese/Mexican "event" they originally scheduled for Saturday astounded me. The only mitigating factors were: (a) Blackstone is both stupid and excellent at committing a species of atrocities against its residents; and (b) we are, generally, living through a time period during which whatever stupidity, selfishness, shallowness and assholery any individual possessed was coaxed to the surface. Way too many people who might have been considered decent types have sunk into the gutter in terms of thinking and behavior during COVID-19. I don't see this getting better. I see human behavior continuing to deteriorate.
It was scheduled for the end of January (2 days from now, Saturday), in below freezing temperatures on the Oval. Many reasons prohibit me from naming names and characterizing and excoriating them as they so richly deserve. Suffice it to say that the architect of this idiocy and insult is someone I believe I know well, and for whom I may feel sorry, but do not excuse the hell he deliberately, consciously, and knowingly inflicts on us every spring, summer and fall.
Now, your favorite so-called General Manager here as written to us about the storm about to visit on Saturday and their courageous, stalwart, indomitable plan to go forward with LUNAR NEW YEAR, complete with FOOD TRUCK, on SUNDAY, instead. Snow on the ground, in the street, packing in cars, and a predicted HIGH TEMPERATURE OF 28 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT ON Sunday is no reason, of course, to entirely cancel this abomination. Come on out, ya' hear???
2. There is also a recent, standing Sunday morning invitation to a particular demographic here which has me wondering if Blackstone might be expanding yet further into some kind of black market in children. (Just kidding, but read why I exaggerate this way): Sunday mornings, "moms" (I despise that word; "mother" is the proper word, but that's another story entirely) and "dads" are invited to gather for some period of time in "Oval Kids," one of Blackstone's Stuyvesant Town destroyed Main levels (the "amenities" they created by destroying parts of the buildings surrounding the Oval).
I am sorry that so many people, including myself, are heartily sick and tired of the COVID-19 pandemic and its requisite restrictions, but it is not yet over. We do not know enough about Omicron and its new sub-variant, BA.2, which has reached the States in at least Texas. We don't know enough about long term effects of any of the variants, and it seems that some of the medical problems COVID-19 can cause are pretty damn daunting. In addition, it is likely a sure bet that more COVID-19 is coming our way, along with other viruses of great concern. And lastly, immunity wanes rather rapidly, as in months, and not years.
So . . . of course, institute some Sunday morning "gathering" for parents of small children in a small, enclosed INDOOR space in the middle of the winter while we are still living with a killing virus. Is Blackstone just stupid in this case? Or do they have some reason for singling out the parents of very young children to "gather" in large numbers to possibly become ill with COVID-19?
You cannot make this stuff up.
Partying bros are at it already. And it is only Thursday night. Lucky me and lucky the other tenants on my floor.
I just took my recycling down and saw the absolute chaotic, disgusting mess that awaits our porter when he comes on duty tomorrow morning. I took my recycling back upstairs and put it down the chute. Both recycling bins were overflowing with all kinds of dreck that was not appropriate for either bin - or for recycling at all. From now on I will only recycle glass because than can harm the porters if it is thrown down the chute. EVERYTHING ELSE GOES DOWN THE CHUTE.
If I knew where Shitdickie lives I would drive over and dump it in his front yard. What a total FAILURE of a "Management" we now have. Boy! Has this place gone down the lavatory or has this place gone down the lavatory?
Nadeem lives in Toms River. Look him up. Maybe Been Verified. A wife and two kids. Drive your recycling over there.
I don't know, does dog shit in the laundry room beat dog shit in the elevator as the Sty Town low? Let's take a poll.
Sty Town Low: I vote Dog Shit in the Elevator.
NEWS:
Nadeem is no longer General Manager. Also, he lives in Peter Cooper, with his family.
He just sent out an announcement that he is no longer General Manager.
This is a small portion of his announcement:
" . . . and because of serious health issues my family are dealing with, I am saddened to announce that I will be leaving my role as General Manager to spend more time with my nearest and dearest."
Despite whatever anger and other negative emotions I have felt, it hurts that this common, human pain is happening to him.
I expect nothing good from Beam/Blackstone, as short of a miracle, they do not seem to have the ability to do much but hurt people. So, whomever follows Nadeem in "leadership" is sure to do nothing positive for us if they want to remain in their jobs.
One chapter closes, in sadness. It remains to be seen what will follow.
Got this email. Looks like he couldn't take the heat or more likely booted for incompetence!
"Dear Residents,
One of the things I have frequently referred to in my notes to you is our commitment to being Good Neighbors – kind, helpful, thoughtful, and respectful. This has been the guiding principle for how I have tried to do my small part to make this community Better Today Than Yesterday (BTTY, as our team calls it). It’s what we expect of everyone, from the longest tenured through to the freshest faces, team member and resident alike.
Like many of you here, the last couple of years have been immensely challenging for my family. The pandemic has given us all a new opportunity to pause and think about what matters most to us, as we see how fragile and turbulent life can be. The reality is, life is short, and we absolutely must take every opportunity we can to spend it with those we love.
In reflecting on this, and because of serious health issues my family are dealing with, I am saddened to announce that I will be leaving my role as General Manager to spend more time with my nearest and dearest. Right now, more than ever, they need me to be a Good Neighbor to them.
This is not an easy change for me, as I truly love this community and it has been a profound honor to serve as General Manager here. I will be eternally grateful for the way that you all have made myself, my wife Sana, and my children Aliya and Zain, feel so at home here. Thank you all for being such Good Neighbors.
You will hear more about StuyTown & Peter Cooper Village’s leadership soon. In the meantime, please continue to reach out to Resident Services with any issues or concerns. Our team remains as committed as ever to supporting you and your needs.
While this is farewell for now, it will not be farewell forever, and I hope to see you around the Oval again sometime in the future.
With my best regards to you, your family, to this special place, and its future.
Nadeem Siddiqui"
I feel bad for Nadeem if he has illness in his family. I hope things turn out well for him and his loved ones.
Whomever gets the job of GM of this dump will only be doing what Black$stone tells them to do. Money is their god and they would sacrifice their firstborns on the altar of their god. The bean-counters on Park Avenue are the real enemy of everything good and decent. The employees, e.g., Nadeem and team, just do as they're told. As far as I'm concerned, they just get my rent until I find a decent place to live and I don't want to have to deal with any of their hideous "events" and "amenities." Who the hell needs them??????
Oh, heat is probably considered a perk here, but it should be considered a human right. If they can't give us adequate heat in our homes, why do they think we want or need their "amenities."
These events are their crude and stupid attempt at showing how diverse they are. They had a loud concert for LBGTQ last summer. They are pathetic.
Don’t expect a better manager. They are all crap company stooges , Hayduk included.
I think he'll be back. Sounds like he's taking some leave to take care of a sick family member. I hope whomever is sick in his family makes a full recovery. I get the impression he is a very good family man. He may have been too distracted by a loved one's poor health to take much notice of this place. I always got the impression that his bulletins were written for him. He seemed sort of detached from the place. Hayduk was immersed in the place and, love him or hate him, he did take a real interest.
"Hayduk put in place the miserable noise producing concerts"
Speyer started Oval concerts. Blackstone amplification is louder.
I've read the GM missive. I wish him the best for him and his family, but overall this note is BS. This "good neighbors" crap doesn't impress me and I would think/hope very few of the residents. "Better Today Than Yesterday." Is he kidding or just parroting Blackstone? I've never seen place look so bad and work so bad in the 30-plus years I've lived here. Tired of this BS from top to bottom.
This is the message in case you haven't read it:
GOOD NEIGHBORS
Dear Residents,
One of the things I have frequently referred to in my notes to you is our commitment to being Good Neighbors – kind, helpful, thoughtful, and respectful. This has been the guiding principle for how I have tried to do my small part to make this community Better Today Than Yesterday (BTTY, as our team calls it). Nadeem Siddiqui
Has Nadeem already gone, or is he going? I felt a bit sorry for him at times because he doesn't make the rules and I don't think he was encouraged by his masters to enforce the QOL rules. Hayduk sure as hell didn't enforce any such rules. He was the Prince of Schmooze. A total Bullshit Artist. He'd look you in the eyes and lie to you with that supercilious smirk on his kisser. I feel very confident that we will be getting more of the same. Either another smirking hypocrite or another silent onlooker. These guys are programmed and neutered by Blackstone before they even move in here.
I just want some HEAT.
HEAT! HEAT! GLORIOUS HEAT!
Please. I have had it with space heaters.
Plus they are a real fire hazard, a tragedy waiting to happen.
I hope we get a Manager who manages to deliver more heat to us. There are two elderly ladies next door to me and they are in very poor health. Their health aide is absolutely disgusted at how freezing cold their apartment is. They don't have space heaters, which is a good thing because they could not get out fast if there was a fire, and their aide is sick of calling 311 and getting the run-around. Probably there is a hand in every pocket when it comes to the City agencies and Blackstone. We've gone through three empty suits since Blackstone took over. Maybe Paul Burke was not such an empty suit, though. He may have been the only one with a conscience and didn't want to be party to the abuses inflicted on us by this vile bunch of scumbags.
>>There are two elderly ladies next door to me and they are in very poor health. Their health aide is absolutely disgusted at how freezing cold their apartment is.<<
This should be a priority for any GM and Blackstone, but how many years have we been bitching about the wonderful sensors? They don't work!
"Two elderly ladies" - There is a fairly new (working in this position for 7 months) social worker with Mount Sinai whose name, I think, is Emily. I spoke with her a week or so ago. She is the person who deals with securing all kinds of help for residents here. Emily told me to call her with any concerns here. She seemed genuinely caring and ready to do what she can for us.
Services for our older folks are emphasized. This is from Mount Sinai's website:
"Geriatrics – Social Work Services 212-420-2000
212-857-9980
"Older patients and their families may face special challenges. We offer social work services to help maintain and enhance the quality of life of older adults and their families. We aim to enhance dignity, self-determination, personal fulfillment, optimal functioning, and to ensure the least restrictive living environment possible.
"Services at Stuyvesant Town
"Mount Sinai Beth Israel’s Social Work Department provides social work assistance and support for Peter Cooper Village/Stuyvesant Town (PCVST) residents, including older adults. PCVST was completed in 1947 for World War II veterans and many from that era have aged in place.
"We provide residents and family members with emotional or psychological support and with long-term planning, including home care and placement. Residents also have access to community events, groups, and fairs hosted by PCVST and facilitated by Mount Sinai Beth Israel Social Work."
When I spoke with her, she was calling from one of the Resident Services phones here. I'm sure she can be reached (or her most direct contact number provided) by calling either one of the Mount Sinai numbers I listed above, or Resident Services.
PLEASE GIVE THIS POSSIBLY LIFE-SAVING INFORMATION TO WHOMEVER CAN HELP THOSE TWO ELDERLY LADIES AND EVERYONE ELSE WHO COULD BE HELPED.
Nadeem, I believe, ended his brief tenure as General Manager one day this past week, although he continues to live here with his family.
Hatful increased the movie and concert events substantially.
>>PLEASE GIVE THIS POSSIBLY LIFE-SAVING INFORMATION TO WHOMEVER CAN HELP THOSE TWO ELDERLY LADIES AND EVERYONE ELSE WHO COULD BE HELPED.<<
Thank you!
Unless I missed it, the other two Stuy Town Facebook blogs have nothing about Nadeem. Maybe that is the problem. No one cares.
Have to laugh. Today Powers puts out an announcement on Facebook that we can reach out to his office for any heat problems. We have had heat problems all winter and he has done nothing.
16 degrees and windy outside. 64 inside. pipes ice cold. This is nothing more than an overpriced slum. I'm glad they are getting rid of the useless POS who has been "managing" the dump, but they need to do something about the heat system NOW!
Am sick of calling 311. It's time the conditions in this hellhole hit the press. It is the worse place I've ever lived in. No one should be encouraged to move in here.
Now they do renovations on weekends and at night. What nerve. I called resident services last night at 7 because they were working upstairs. She claimed it was just maintenance, but they shouldn’t be working past 5:30. All this morning, scraping and banging upstairs. I called security and he said ST is allowed to work on Saturdays. Despicable that we have to put up with this so they can put in more dorms. This sounds like renovation, not maintenance. How dare they disturb us on weekends.
Who cares
"Unless I missed it, the other two Stuy Town Facebook blogs have nothing about Nadeem. Maybe that is the problem. No one cares."
This is not correct. Both of these public FB SM group pages have Nadeem threads with the full email text plus various posts on the issue, many of them crtical of his tenure here.
I meant now, him leaving the GM post.
"I meant now, him leaving the GM post."
Yes. The 1/28 Nadeem email statement. Here's 3 posts from the TA page:
"Personally I don’t see his leaving as any great loss to any of us."
"Good riddance he did nothing for this community!"
"We seem to be blowing through GMs."
Term "tenure" doesn't apply to Nadeem. He wasn't in the position long enough (and did nothing when he was in it--except collect a paycheck and a rent-free apartment). Watch out: Maybe the Lifestyle Director will now get a promotion....
"I meant now, him leaving the GM post."
No, STR. They have posted his swan song and the comments about it.
Almost 5 grand for a two-bedroom and NO FU*KIN' HEAT.
UNREAL!
I agree, wholeheartedly, at this point, that it matters not the name of the "General Manager" because Blackstone is intent on doing what it does best where people's homes are concerned: causing intense and intensifying misery while extracting money from their tenants.
It is nothing new for me, but sometimes it hits me more forcefully than others: WE ARE NOT A COMMERCIAL AREA. In other words, absent government collusion and corruption, THERE IS NOT ONE REASON THERE ARE ANY COMMERCIAL ENTERPRISES OR "EVENTS" HERE. Stores on the bottoms of buildings on the perimeters of Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village (as in 1st Avenue, 14th Street, etc.) are fit and proper locations for commercial tenants. But nowhere else.
WE ARE NOT ANYTHING EXCEPT RESIDENTIAL. PERIOD. RESIDENTS. NOT STUDENTS OF ANY AGE OR GRADE. NOT TRANSIENTS OR MOTEL/HOTEL "GUESTS." NOT WHAT MY PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS TERMED "BOARDERS."
Again, were government "representatives," stewards-on-paper-only, of the people who elected them, and who are responsible for allowing them to live in homes and have food and clothing (we PAY THEM, IN OTHER WORDS) not on the take, corrupt, morally depraved beings, NONE OF THIS WOULD EXIST.
It is Saturday night, 16 degrees outside and who knows what inside, and I've been trying to learn, study, read, write, concentrate at 10:35, and I'm hearing shrieking, screaming, laughing morons. Waves of groups of them.
Last night, Friday night, it appeared that at least 6 of these miserable examples of young humans had exited a building across from me (meaning they were visiting others of their type - so I'd estimate that there were at least 10 or more "students" - students of what, exactly? Selfishness? Self-aggrandizement? - "gathered" in a building across the way from me.
During the storm's beginning and during COVID-19.
Now, 6 of them had crossed the road and stood near to my building talking loudly, laughing, oblivious of the cold, the snow, and most of all, the RESIDENTS in apartments trying to sleep or relax. After more loud talk and noise, 2 of them peeled off to enter my building while 4 of them went tromping off to another Stuyvesant building or buildings.
THEY DO NOT BELONG HERE. PERIOD.
It troubles me that I can feel such strong hatred for my fellow human beings. It troubles me more that on a bitterly cold night, during the continuing pandemic, and when this poor battered city is trying to rest from and deal with a major winter storm, I cannot even THINK because groups of as many as 10 screaming parasitic (I doubt they work - their parents, such as they are, pay for their darling offspring to live here, no?) keep assaulting me with their noise.
I was their age. I went to college. I socialized in large groups when I was young. We never dared even think about behaving this way. Yes, we could be selfish and inconsiderate. But nothing like this. And not one of the many people I knew from my childhood lived in residential apartment buildings as students, no matter where they went to college. Not one of them.
To the residents of 4 Stuyvesant Oval: I have no idea either HOW or WHY you put up with the literal hordes of "students" who both "live" in your building and "visit" your building. On weekend nights, and sometimes others, they add to the many, many, many groups of idiots marching around the 14th Street Loop to Avenue B's bars. I've counted as many as 30 or more exiting the Terrace level and standing yelling, screaming, laughing anywhere from 8 p.m. to after 11 p.m. Illegal and a fire hazard in your building itself.
Once standing outside 4 Oval: I don't know HOW or WHY I can endure this for years.
"Baby, it's cold INSIDE"
Almost 6:00 AM, Sunday, January 30th, 15 degrees outside, 62 degrees INSIDE??? Wtf?
>>Yes. The 1/28 Nadeem email statement. Here's 3 posts from the TA page:<<
Was it taken down? I go to both almost every day, and I don't see any post on this from the two blogs.
"Maybe the Lifestyle Director will now get a promotion.."
The horror! I was hoping that he would resigin.
Texted to RS yesterday because heat would come up then go down. Shortly after, the heat stayed on.
This morning, nothing at all! 61 degrees in my apartment. Texted again and not a drop of heat. Have had windows adjusted and now feel more drafts.
Wonder if the new years celebration and the food trucks will be out today since this seems to be landlord's priority!
Gale wind blowing through "windows" in my apartment.
58 degrees by window sill. 63 degrees in middle of room.
Called Resident Services and left message. Also called Public Safety.
Respondent boringly took down my info. Ho hum. "We'll notify engineer."
Nice, eh? Luxury Living? Hahaha!
It's cold.
Outside.
And inside my apartment.
Stuyvesant Town: "America's biggest Dog Park, Dormitory, and Boarding House."
No heat again in this fetid, frozen Hellhole. 21 degrees outside and only 63 inside. Sick of calling 311. They must be getting paid off by the vermin who run this Hellhole.
letter to the editor of the NY Post today, Sunday, from a Blackstone 'head of real estate' in Manhattan...
"Was it taken down? I go to both almost every day, and I don't see any post on this from the two blogs."
It's there on both facebook pages. Maybe it's gone down the thread a bit by now. I wonder if they have blocked you?
He is another loser with his stupid events and phony attitude
>>It's there on both facebook pages. Maybe it's gone down the thread a bit by now. I wonder if they have blocked you?<<
I know I am blocked by one person on the Facebook resident page, and he's an admin. I don't see his posts. The other--? If you provide a direct link, I can tell.
Did Mr Know-all block you?
I think he was the one who started the thread. (that is if the person's initials are EJD)
It was Dunn (sp?). As far as our GM, I think both blogs deleted what was there. Don't know yet, though.
I do see it as the top post on the TA page. I get so sick of all these know-alls who constantly opine, but nobody else can have an opinion. The TA fb is far more democratic in that regard.
Just saw on Spectrum News Mayor Adams visiting a NYCHA complex where they had insufficient heat and were using space heaters and wearing winter woolies indoors. He should come here. I know a lot (and I'm one of them of people in ST who have space heaters and wear wool hats and sweaters and warm neck scarves INDOORS. Apart from the fact that we should not have to dress like that indoors, it makes the cold outside feel worse when we go out.
There are two total know-alls on both fb pages and I don't think they are both the same person, though they might be. The one who calls himself Adam Rose usually has informative information; the other one ("EJD") is bombastic and annoying. Maybe they are the same person, but I often wish the EJD character would take a vacation.
>>I do see it as the top post on the TA page.<<
Probably because you posted on that topic. I don't see anything on both Facebooks. Curious that a topic that should be "hot" is not... As for an admin banning me, it was not Rose, whose messages I see and read, but Dunn. Some people are real control freaks. Oh, well...
The TA Facebook is far from Democratic. I was banned a few years ago for criticizing management and mentioning the TA’s inaction. They were rude and when I refused to communicate them banned me. Not only do they do nothing and are an arm of management, they will not accept criticism or post anything controversial. They are also nasty and rude.
Dunn needs to get a life. A sawdust Caesar
I think the thread has been removed from the Facebooks. Not surprised because we are not living in any kind of democracy here. It is a dictatorship.
Has anybody noticed that it is very, very hard to get through to RS? I think they must have laid off most of the staff there. God forbid there should be an emergency situation such a broken pipe or overflowing toilet. This dump is a total disaster at this point. We have no heat and everybody is using space heaters. A disaster waiting to happen. Maybe if they set the heat point a bit higher than 70 or, better yet, sent heat up according to the OUTSIDE temperature, we would all be comfortable and safe.
I was told that when people have space heaters the sensors think it is warm enough. It seems that it doesn't matter if the space heater is in your apartment for it to affect your heat. If a neighbor is using a space heater it makes the sensors think that each unit is comfortable. What a f*cked-up system we are being subjected to. As I know that all of my neighbors have space heaters and I don't have them and get no heat, it means that I have to order a couple of good space heaters for myself.
Was that MetLife's parting "gift" when they sold the dump to those idiot Speyer people?
No heat. Can't get through to RS. OMG I hate this place.
For the rents they charge they could provide heat. I know they should provide heat, but they won't.
STR, the thread about the GM departure is still on the TA Facebook page. Right at the top as "New Activity" Unless you are blocked by Peter Stuyvesant, you should be able to see it.
>>STR, the thread about the GM departure is still on the TA Facebook page. Right at the top as "New Activity" Unless you are blocked by Peter Stuyvesant, you should be able to see it.<<
That is possible. I haven't seen "Peter Stuyvesant" in a while, so I may be blocked from "his" posts. As far as I know, that name is used by a couple of adims there. Not sure, but I believe Dunn is a member of the TA, too. This blockage is interesting, but it doesn't bother me, just confirms that I am doing the right thing.
They have a couple of people on both facebooks (apart from AR and EJD) who just never shut up. They appear multiple times on every thread of every topic. One guy in particular is really annoying and probably a Management plant because he just loves everything that most normal people find annoying.
Despite the sensors, they can raise the heat up if they choose to. The sensors are not entirely to blame.
He is a yes man for the TA. He puts on the show of working for tenants against management, but as a TA flunkie does not work in tenant interests.
STR, do you use your real name or call yourself "STR" when you go to those Facebook sites? As for EJD, he comments on EVERY thread. EVERY one! Usually several times! It seems to be a full-time occupation for him. Keeps him busy, I suppose. Sometimes he's useful, but often he's just a PITA.
NO HEAT. It is a balmy 26 degrees outside so how could I possibly expect heat? I must be delusional.
Impossible to get through to Resident Services.
This place is going downhill fast.
>>STR, do you use your real name or call yourself "STR" when you go to those Facebook sites?<<
STR.
Who are the idiots who leave bags of garbage by the carriage room door? Totally classless.
From Siobhan Kennedy
Dear Residents,
For those of you who don’t know me, I’m Siobhan Kennedy, StuyTown and Peter Cooper Village’s Head of Resident Experience. What that means is I have the huge honor of leading the team that is responsible for making sure you have an incredible time living in this community.
You are probably used to having Nadeem’s name appear in your inbox or seeing him around the community. Having worked with Nadeem for the past few years, I have been closely involved in so much of what he was doing here supporting the needs of our community. With his departure, I am taking over his responsibilities as your main point of contact for any feedback or issues you may have.
Here are my team’s three priorities for this community:
Wellbeing – We will work to ensure you are safe and well. This is absolutely our priority. If there is something affecting your health or wellbeing related to your life here, please let us know.
Communication – We will work to keep you informed about what is going on around our community. This includes events and activities, and important updates or changes. If you think of ways we can improve communication, please let us know.
Solutions – We work to solve problems. If you feel like your concerns are not being heard and you want to escalate an issue, please reach out to me directly. I cannot promise I can fix everything, but I am absolutely committed to trying.
Going forward, you will see my name in your inbox a lot more, as the weekly community newsletter and other important updates will arrive in my name. You’ll also see my face at the Oval Office when that returns over the spring and summer, and generally around the property at community events or checking in on things. Very soon, I’ll share more about me and my family so you get to know me better.
If I have met you already, I look forward to working for you in this new role. If our paths haven’t crossed yet, I am so excited to have this opportunity to serve your needs. There is no community in the world quite like StuyTown and Peter Cooper Village, and my team is here to constantly find ways to make it even better.
Please always feel free to reach out to me directly by emailing siobhan@beamliving.com. Alternatively, contact Resident Services at 212.420.5000.
Regards,
Siobhan Kennedy
Head of Resident Experience
Note that she signs "Head of Resident Experience." So, no General Manager? Maybe in the spring when Beam will get someone. I'm losing count of how many we have had!
Has restaurant and brewery background--I kid you not. Just what we need.
Don't eat any yellow or brown snow, whatever you do!
Good that it is being shown. Not our district, but close by. Stuy Town is seen toward the end.

A cold 68 all morning. Heat finally coming up now. If it is over 30 they skimp on the heat. Inspectors and city only monitor on frigid days. These evil wretches know the game and play it well.
I'm glad we have a woman in charge. Too many pig-headed men have run this place into the ground.
Just watched the video. Rivera is an abysmal failure as a Council member. She should be fired. She is obviously corrupt, useless and ruthless. Can't understand why anybody voted for her. She's even worse than Powers.
Head of Resident Experience???
Enough with the nonsense titles.
How about bringing some actual experience running a large scale residential community like ST/PCV.
All these people sound like extras from bankrupt cruise lines!
">>STR, do you use your real name or call yourself "STR" when you go to those Facebook sites?<<
STR."
If you open a fb account using a different name, they won't know it's you and won't block you.
Head of Resident Experience? What a fucking joke! I am a resident who was born here just a tad over 40 years ago. My Resident Experience is that since the property was sold by MetLife, we have had nothing but angst and pain. Speyer was a ruthless, but low intelligence, fascist. He and his team tried very hard to throw out the elderly, frail and handicapped. A harken to Dr. Mengele. Thank GOD that vile POS moved on, but he and his people left behind a legacy of abuse and sadness and shattered lives.
Then we Adam Rose (not too bad) and CWC and then we were sold down the river to the vilest landlord on the face of the earth.
I have absolutely NO respect for the lowlifes who run this place in any capacity. I also have no respect for the so-called TA because they accepted this bunch of filth with open arms (would be open legs in an earlier era) and our so-called political representatives are nothing more than lying, corrupt filth,
NO HEAT this morning. So what else is new?
Don’t expect anything better. The company appoints people who will continue to follow evil and despicable policies. Sorry but your optimism is unfounded.
She and Powers are both abysmal failures. Just take a look at our neighborhood.
So the new person in charge starts her tenure with a letter full of lies? Great way to start off. This place is so screwed.
Why are we always referred to as "Residents?" This isn't a nursing home. We are TENANTS. We rent to live in the apartments that they rent out. We don't need crappy insult-to-the intelligence "events" and "amenities" which are third-rate at best. Just give us heat, cleanliness and safety in return for our rent. We will take care of our own entertainment. Thank you.
The EJD guy on the TA and Tenants facebooks has a lot of good information. He is a bit bossy, but he knows what he's talking about. I remember Rick saying that he didn't know who Adam Rose is. There is a tenant with that name, but denies that he is the guy who posts. It's a "nom de plume" and they let him get away with it. He posts useful information and isn't as abrasive as EJD.
>>The EJD guy on the TA and Tenants facebooks has a lot of good information.<<
Problem is this "good" information is banned for me. Not only on his resident Facebook, but maybe the TA (?), and one other resident Facebook. I think he's a control freak, even though we are basically on the same side.
"Problem is this "good" information is banned for me. Not only on his resident Facebook, but maybe the TA (?), and one other resident Facebook. I think he's a control freak, even though we are basically on the same side."
Open a FB account under a different name. Then you can read what's on any account that is open to public viewing. Actually, Adam Rose comes up with pretty much the same info. I think EJD has too much time on his hands and, as you say, he is a control freak. Can't be a very pleasant person to be around.
Yeah, but this has a very low interest for me. Just a curiosity. Thanks anyway.
Why is that Kennedy woman sending e-mails on current events and being goof neighbors. Such BS. She needs to worry about conditions here in ST especially lack of heat and the filth. Where did they dig her up from!
EJD is a phony. He does not have good info and is a TA stoolie.
She has nerve posting about irrelevant things. Unreal.
STR, I don't think that SJD delivers any more pertinent news than Adam Rose and (believe it or not!) The TA delivers.
The Stuy Town Management: cold pipes, cold heart. It's all about the Benjamins!
Halls are dirty. Filth strewn all over carriage rooms. Packages galore by mailboxes. Quality of life has really gone downhill.
Delivers what? Lies and no action. What have they done lately?
I wonder what salvage sale sold Management the new washing machines? They work, but you can't tell where to put the detergent, softener, bleach, etc. The compartments are marked in tiny raised lettering which is white. As in white on white. Even with a magnifying glass I couldn't read the lettering. At first I thought that it might be in Braille and the machines were made for blind people, but I think it was actual lettering. Just not readable. They also cost more than the old ones, but at least the dryers dry. Have to be grateful for small mercies, I suppose. We're certainly not dealing with intelligence or logic when it comes to Management's choices. Will be going back to 14th Street Wash and Clean.
"Why is that Kennedy woman sending e-mails on current events and being goof neighbors. Such BS. She needs to worry about conditions here in ST especially lack of heat and the filth. Where did they dig her up from!"
Give the lady a chance!!! She only just started the job. I know she has been working for Beam Living for a while, but she is new to the job she currently has - and it is an overwhelming responsibility that she has now took on. Let's give her a chance and treat her with respect. Please!
I wonder why they've dropped the "bounty" on bringing in a new resident from $500 each to $250 each?
You say the TA delivers. Do they do anything about our heat problems, unwanted concerts or noise? This TA is a bogus arm of management and nasty people to boot.
"The TA delivers."
Blackstone could never own your home without essential approval and support from the STPCV TA pretending to represent you.
Are you cold inside your residence because Blackstone refuses to provide adequate heat?
Is Blackstone building two fossil fuel power plants inside your former residential neighborhood? Directly outside your window?
All this was predictable and it gets worse. Blackstone is just being Blackstone, doing what Blackstone always does - Milking the asset dry before breaking it up and dumping it by selling off the wasted, broken pieces.
Without ever notifiying you or consulting with you, the STPCV TA delivered your home into the greedy claws of Blackstone, world renowned for being the most notorious predatory landlord on earth.
Wanna buy a power plant?
TA, and President Susan Steinberg, are totally corrupt and in bed with management.
They address zero issues such as lack of heat, dormification, AirbNb, antiquated plumbing, carpetless "neighbors", dog turd everywhere, and those "hokey" events.
Damage done by Blackstone is irreversible. Kennedy will not improve the situation, even if she wants to (which I doubt).
https://www.aol.com/news/gas-powered-leaf-blowers-face-205028210.html
From this article:
“Today, operating the best-selling commercial lawn mower for one hour emits as much smog-forming pollution as driving the best-selling 2017 passenger car, a Toyota Camry, about 300 miles — approximately the distance from Los Angeles to Las Vegas,” the California Air Resources Board said in a recent fact sheet. “For the best-selling commercial leaf blower, one hour of operation emits smog-forming pollution comparable to driving a 2017 Toyota Camry about 1,100 miles, or approximately the distance from Los Angeles to Denver."
35 degrees outside. Not so cold that they have to give heat. An ideal day for our Scrooge-like Management. Vile, unscrupulous, without heart. At least we have "events". And a ROYAL F U to our useless, worthless, most probably corrupt do-nothing Tenants Association...hahaha. Shameless Susan at the helm...ugh!
35 degrees? We most definitely need heat when it’s that cold outside. Call 311. Keep calling 311.
So glad I am not paying full market rate rent to live in this vile, cold shithole. Got an email for the new whatever they call the stooge at the top. She recited the City's heat rules. I guess she must think this is NYCHA where poor people go to die.
Glad I'll be moving out at the end of February. Friends are taking over my apartment. So long as I'm around to sign any new lease, it's ok. "Management" has no idea who actually lives here. In fact, Management has no idea about anything! Why else would they employ only the dregs of the RE Industry?
In reality, the corrupt City Council decides when we "need heat." And then Blackstone makes further uh...adjustments.
"Management has no idea about anything! Why else would they employ only the dregs of the RE Industry?"
You got that right about Management having no idea about anything. However, Management and their employees are are not the dregs of the RE Industry. They are the dregs of the "Hospitality/Resort Industry."
Google Blackstone's resorts and you will see that they are not very well rated. They are the dregs of the industry.
"So glad I am not paying full market rate rent to live in this vile, cold shithole. Got an email for the new whatever they call the stooge at the top. She recited the City's heat rules. I guess she must think this is NYCHA where poor people go to die."
I also emailed her and expressed my disgust at the heat and general state of the property. She came back with the standard script about the sensors and that we are above the City minimum
level of heat, etc. I really don't blame her. She has to do what her overlords tell her and she doesn't make the policies. Hopefully, she will be a bit more sympathetic than the last two Managers, but they don't have autonomy no matter how sympathetic they may be. Not that she actually sounded very sympathetic, but at least she responded. I don't Nadeem whatsisname ever responded to anybody about anything!
We just have to live with our space heaters and hope for the best. I always do wonder how they factor in the fact that some people (especially the older people) cook. As in actually use the oven. Are the sensors affected by that? Does my whole line have no heat when I am making roast beef?
We have had heat all day today! Not needed to put the space heaters on at all. It is DIVINE!!!!! I hope it is not a fluke!
Not for me. I had to put on my heater as my nose was freezing.
I had more heat than usual today. Once in a blue moon if it is a super cold day I get adequate heat. Maybe it is when the inspectors are watching. It is not consistent.
That script is sent out whenever a complaint is made. If anyone thinks she will be more sensitive to heat issues here, they are misguided. In addition , despite the sensors they can manually turn up the heat when they want to.
There will be a fire due to these space heaters, and then STR’s page will magically disappear so that there is no evidence of years of heating problems being brought to managements attention and them feeding us the same bullshit spiel over and over.
Anyone who works for this company is purely evil, and there’s no way around that. This new woman is evil just like the ones before, and for that I don’t plan to give her a chance.
If ever this place burns down and people are killed as a result of these cheap, vile, money-worshipping bastards denying us adequate heat, there will be lawsuits against the company and individuals and some individuals may face jail time.
The tragedy in the Bronx was caused by a cheap bastard POS denying tenants adequate heat. He was a pal of Mayor Adams and I hope that doesn't mean he will get away with MURDER.
"Not for me. I had to put on my heater as my nose was freezing."
Hope you called 311, STR. I suspect that the inspectors are on Black$oul's payroll. I detest and despise these management people. They should all drop dead.
Even when the heat is on it is still chilly in these drafty, shitty apartments. When the heat is off it is f*ckn' freezing! Maybe the assholes who run this place don't live on the premises and only experience the temperature of the Sty in their office. Probably, their offices are heated!
Glad our lease is up in a few weeks and we'll be outta here. Sure as hell gonna spread the word about what a total hellhole this dump is.
The heat is coming on right now. In fact, it's been on for most of the day. Maybe this new lady boss has a heart! God Bless her if she does!
>>The heat is coming on right now. In fact, it's been on for most of the day. Maybe this new lady boss has a heart! God Bless her if she does!<<
I wake up at various times of the night and check the pipes. I woke up around 3am. I didn't have to check but I did. The pipes were COLD.... As for 311, I called them before, and nothing was done. We also have a building manager and a General Manager (?), so this issue should have been taken care of years ago, but it hasn't. Fact is: It is cold in my apartment and, I guess, a lot of apartments here. By the way, it is 20% right now.
As for our Resident Manager or General Manager, I am more than willing to give her a try, but nothing has been done except retreading certain "rules," but not enforcing them. Another fact is that all these people speak with Beam tongue.
Sunday morning, 8:20 AM, Feb.5,2022
19 degrees outside.
63 degrees inside.
NO HEAT!
Time to put on the space heaters.
Surely a fire hazard but Management doesn't care.
Calls to 311 and Resident Services are USELESS!
Don’t count on it. No heat this morning when I got up at 8.
Retreading those inane sensor and heating policies is a negative sign. I don’t expect any difference from her.
I didn't we had a building manager and a general manager. Who is the Building Manager?
I am surprised that anybody (except students) choose to move in here. By now it is common knowledge that we have substandard heat conditions and that management refuses to even acknowledge the fact. Its "fame" is spreading because people even comment about the fact that we have serious heat problems. People in the local stores and people I meet in church. They don't live here and say they are glad they don't.
I don't know why mismanagement think they are being generous by pegging the heat at 70 (which it usually doesn't even reach) because 70 isn't exactly a "toasty" temperature. If you go outside on a 70 degree day, you probably need at least a light sweater. In these drafty old apartments 70 degrees is nothing.
No wonder they have so many empty units and can only attract students (who are usually too crowded in that they have body heat to keep them warm!) We used to have lots of young couples with babies and toddlers. Never see them now. They all fled at the start of the pandemic. I know one couple who bailed out with their baby and some of their relatives moved in. Don't know whether or not they arranged that through Management. Don't care either. Management doesn't actually "manage" because they put the cheesy, substandard events and money-making garbage ahead of actually keeping he living conditions up to par and keeping track of who lives here and who doesn't. Lots of private arrangements going on. I wouldn't care if we had sound Security, but we don't. We have people prowling the buildings, stealing deliveries and trying doors. This place has gone 180 degrees from what it was a few years ago before the predators came in. No more waiting list to get in. People clamoring to get out!
Agree with all you say. Heat should be at 72 and is rarely at that. The young people with children I see are transient tourists. I think they have corporate and Airbnb arrangements for a month or two at a time. Who would move into this dorm dump at market rate?
Please look up "Blackstone Group is a predator" as a search phrase if you do not have a clear picture of those who are depraved, soul-dead, perverted beings and "own" or "work" in or for Blackstone and all of their subsidiaries, shell companies and the like.
Just do a search.
It was no coincidence that before the pandemic, they were revealed to be either the worst, or among the worst offenders on the planet where housing was concerned. That was in March. The United Nations issued a report on tragic violations of the right to housing, and this MONEY firm was the most voracious on the planet. Then, a scant two months later, in June, news outlets were filled with accounts of Blackstone's major role in destroying the Amazon Rain Forest.
Would you like to rent a home infested with spiders (I think it was tarantulas), even in your child's toy chest? How about mold? Would you like to rent a home for which you were paying each month and on time and have eviction proceedings, seemingly unstoppable, enacted against you?
These (Blackstone and their ilk) are probably hopelessly mentally and emotionally ill individuals hurting millions upon millions of people.
William Shakespeare's Henry VI proposed that all of the lawyers be killed. It seems to me that human animals involved in residential "real estate" such as those directing, and profiting from, Blackstone's actions need to be eliminated.
I place certain words in quotes because the ideas they express are repugnant to me.
Had heat all day today. I hope it wasn't an aberration. So nice to be able to keep the space heaters off.
This place would be a total death trap if we had a fire. We have no fire escape. We used to love living here and felt very safe. Never needed to use space heaters until they stopped sending up heat according to the outside temperature and put in the useless sensor system which condemns us all to low temperatures throughout the cold months. Now we are planning to move and will spread the word far and wide that this dump is a MUST TO AVOID.
The TA should speak up more for the tenants instead of always spouting the script used by Management. They should organize a demonstration outside the Leasing Office warning people about the lack of heat, noise, filth, dog shit, etc. If they really were a "tenants association" they wouldn't be sitting on the asses doing nothing. I doubt they will get anywhere with their so-called lawsuit against the CHP plants because those are a done deal and are blessed by our scum politicians.
...."There will be a fire due to these space heaters, and then STR’s page will magically disappear so that there is no evidence of years of heating problems being brought to managements attention and them feeding us the same bullshit spiel over and over." ....
Why will STR's page magically disappear? It's his blog. If ever here is (God forbid) a tragedy here due to the space heaters STR's blog will be there as evidence for the Prosecution. Nobody can shut down STR's blog except STR. There's a good chance he (or somebody else) and cut and paste copies of it.
11:15 and heat just pinged off and temperature is dropping like a stone. We are not allowed to be warm overnight. Thank God for space heaters to keep us comfortable. Pray God that space heaters don't kill us.
>>Why will STR's page magically disappear?<<
I think the intent is that Blackstone/Beam will remove this page.
">>Why will STR's page magically disappear?<<
I think the intent is that Blackstone/Beam will remove this page."
Blackstone does not own the internet. I don't believe they can remove a blog from the internet.
It is possible to make a copy of this entire blog and store it offline. It can always be used in evidence against Blackstone if they do try to remove it. No material on the internet can be removed and destroyed if there is a back-up and it is placed on a hard drive.
If they ever try to remove this page, you can make that publicly known and draw even more attention to it. Remember, on a hard drive it is permanent. Can't be seen by everybody, but still exists.
I can't imagine why anybody would want to move in here at this point. The dump has a TERRIBLE reputation and this blog and various FB accounts are available to read throughout the world. Blackstone can do nothing about that. It would be like trying to destroy every copy of a book that was in hard copy and cyber copy.
You can't burn books on the internet!
Put STR report on a hard drive. So it can't be viewed and entered as current material, but can be updated offline. The old copy and paste method.
I cannot, for the life of me, understand why anyone would even think of moving into this dump. It is a crappy, poorly-maintained dump. It amuses me that they like to describe the location as East Village. I got news for you suckers, the EV ceased to be a trendy "happening place" a couple of decades ago. Today it is a tawdry, slummy shithole. You can thank Carlina Rivera for that. The best housing stock in the EV is NYCHA housing.
The Sty is also sometimes touted as "Gramercy Park." This is NOT Gramercy Park and I'm surprised that the denizens of Gramercy Park haven't sued for damages. Gramercy Park is still a classy neighborhood. It is not that close to PCVST and is light years away from being anything like PCVST.
PCVST is a washed-up dirty old slum. It didn't need to become such, but it has been driven into the ground by avaricious, incompetent, amoral morons. I doubt it will ever improve or regain any of its original dignity. Definitely not under the current management and owners, and not a chance with our current corrupt and despicable politicians.
I rest my case.
A couple of weeks ago I was in my dermatologist's office in one of those cold, clinical NYU buildings. I noticed that it was a tad chilly and was glad I didn't have to be undressed for very long. Then I noticed that there was a digital thermometer on the wall and it registered 71 degrees. It kept going from 71 to 72 and back to 71, so obviously the temperature was somewhere in between.
The people who set the City's minimum temperature go for 68 degrees; the people who run this place go for 70 degrees. Neither 68 nor 70 is comfortable for many people. Even 72 degrees just about hits the comfort mark. When I call and beg for heat I feel like Oliver Twist begging for more food. It's time that 21st Century New York City got rid of the Dickensian era way of thinking and started considering tenants comfort and health requirements when it comes to indoor living temperature. I doubt very much that it costs much more as far as energy goes, especially when so many people are using electricity on energy-guzzling, dangerous space heaters. Perfidy and intelligence seldom go hand-in-hand.
4:18 PM: "Perfidy" - I like that: treacherous, deceitful, untrustworthy. You're right, of course, about intelligence and perfidy.
For a long while, it has seemed to me that much of the deliberate misery inflicted on people by others who SEEM to be doing so for reasons of material, monetary greed is simply not the case. Or, greediness MAY play into it. Mainly, though, it is a result of unhappy people who basically dislike or hate themselves, or feel ashamed or what have you. For those reasons, the sole way they can feel better about themselves is to:
Control, limit, dictate to, neglect, lord over, abuse, manipulate other people.
Some people who do those things are outright sociopaths or psychopaths. But it seems to me that for the most part, people who are somewhat content and feel accepting of themselves do not choose to manipulate others. And those who do manipulate others appear to get a really huge kick out of knowing they are so very "powerful."
It is sad. And for those who are being hurt, and even ultimately killed, by the controllers, it is worse than and beyond sad.
Blackstone P.R. supported by an army of lobbyists, corrupt politicians, captured media and our Vichy TA is no longer effective.
Long time friends and acquaintences ask if it's true about how bad things are overall in STPCV? They know this place used to be one of the best places, if not the best place, to live in NYC and are shocked when I confirm the current degraded physical condition, lack of maintenance, unresponsive management, highly visible but ineffective security, power plants, rampant package theft, dogshit everywhere, the ongoing severe QOL declines, etc. The depressing list is long and growing.
Newcomers with at least half a brain looking for a place to live in NYC will conduct at least a minimal background check on prospective living conditions. Their first question is about what they've read/heard concerning our lack of heat and need for space heaters. Additionally, they inquire about safety, noise, maintenance, etc. They ask if it's true neighbors aren't generally friendly, watchful and respectful of others. I am forced to confirm their research and if they are still seriously considering living here offer them an accurate before-and-after tour of what used to be STPCV, telling them they would hate me if I didn't.
The recent NY Times article about NYU grad students forced out of STPCV because it's a loud, raucus, unsupervised NYU dormitory was a telling turning point.
STPCV is wasted, broken, on its last legs and the death spiral is accelerating. That was always the plan. All roads lead to Blackstone.
The only person I would recommend STPCV to now is someone that cannot live without a large, aggressive breed, nonstop barking dog and does not want to clean up after their dogshit. But only if they can keep the dog safe away from space heaters, which are required for survival here.
It's likely Blackstone is already executing an exit strategy. Hey Dan Garodnick, did they sell the air rights you pledged to Brookfield?
Plumbing issues are a time bomb waiting to go off. Infrastructure is 75 years old. Bathtub drain outflow is hooked up to adjoining apartment. Therefore you can have tub snaked out and problem is sure to occur constantly. Brown water appears frequently. Plumber told me whole system based on wings and a prayer. Management stalling to delay massive replacement cost and tenant uproar over huge MCI's. You heard it here!
The area around the mailboxes looks like a Turkish bazaar. Packages strewn all over. Disgraceful.
Simply put names BACK on apartment list by mailboxes and apartment doors. Then stuff could be delivered properly.
But then Management would have to admit this place has become a dorm and a transient delight.
This "Welcome Home" nonsense is pure bullshit.
Tenants Association, where are you???
I was waiting and it happened again. A poster claimed the heat is on for 24 hours and kudos to the new "lady Boss," the first "decent one." It may be a genuine perception for a genuine resident, but since the post is now a broken record, I feel there is a purpose behind it, and so will not let this post through... BTW, my "perception" is actually based on fact. I woke up around 4am and the pipes were cold. Same as every night when I check. Yeah, kudos the lady Boss.
Link to a NY Post article, with pictures, about a guy taking out 10 steaks from our Trader Joe's on 14th Street. That's why there are security guards, but Trader Joe's doesn't have one.
https://nypost.com/2022/02/08/video-shows-man-nabbing-10-steaks-from-nyc-trader-joes/?utm_source=facebook_sitebuttons&utm_medium=site%20buttons&utm_campaign=site%20buttons&fbclid=IwAR1mshg8omUvtih6OmeSBaDiBGeXi49uWJH61geC_WarL3WHIP_ixxdRseI
The new property manager is cut from the same old cloth as her predecessors.
New smell but same old sh*t.
She'll "yes" you to death but nothing changes.
Sorry but the truth hurts.
Minimal heat this morning.
Of course it is a balmy 40 degrees outside so why should the landlord bother?
Disgraceful.
And illegal.
Plumber Pete - Parkchester in the Bronx, PCVST’s slightly older sibling with identical construction, had the plumbing replaced quite a while back.
It was MASSIVE, MAJOR job, requiring tenants to vacate their apartments for weeks. Forget MCI’s, with a high-paying, short-term tenancy, this could never happen here. Can you imagine?
They’ll just keep patching the existing, overburdened system until it collapses. Actually, that’s the owner’s long-term goal for the entire property - just keep sucking as much cash as possible until it deteriorates so badly that it’ll be demolished and replaced with another Hudson Yards type project.
You could see the seeds of this being planted when management kept repeating the mantra that PCVST was built as “housing for returning WW2 veterans”. This is misinformation.
Yes, preference was given to vets at first, and since there were 7 applicants for every apartment and there were many, many veterans in NYC, that pretty much guaranteed that all the early tenants were vets. But of course, Met’s stated intention for PCVST was to build decent quality, affordable apartments for “people of modest means”, as attested to on the Ecker plaque, which was quickly removed once Tishman Speyer bought the property.
Framing PCVST as outdated, no longer needed, WW2 veterans housing makes for a convenient whitewash. After all, those vets passed on decades ago, so what’s the problem? They’re trying to portray the destruction of affordable, middle class housing as some kind of rebirth, or renewal, rather than the loss that it is.
Heat inconsistent. You get a day of no heat, then a day of heat. Increased heat may be in response to numerous complaints to 311 that particular day. They appear to know when the inspectors come around. I fear that during this 40 and 50 day”warm spell” they will turn down heat.
TA bogus arm of management. Has been since Beam took over. They
"Gramercy Park is still a classy neighborhood. It is not that close to PCVST and is light years away from being anything like PCVST."
Not true. Gramercy Park residents walk their dogs in PCVST.
"I fear that during this 40 and 50 day”warm spell” they will turn down heat."
No, they didn't turn down the heat. They turned it OFF!
We had plentiful and consistent heat for about two days. Now - NOTHING!!!
Meet the new boss, same as the old boss. Nothing ever gets better here, just worse.
"Not true. Gramercy Park residents walk their dogs in PCVST."
Of course they do! You don't seriously think they are going to shit-up their own neighborhood, do you? They have a very tough organization that looks out for them. Don't know whether it is a Tenants' Association or Home Owners' Association, but I have heard that you don't dare mess with them.
We had a coupla puffs of heat today. I was surprised because they don't usually care give us heat unless it is BELOW 40 degrees. Then we get the cursory couple of puffs which are a way of their saying "Here. And up your ass."
"Gramercy Park residents walk their dogs in PCVST."
Blackstne welcomes them!
"Gramercy Park residents walk their dogs in PCVST."
Blackstne welcomes them!
The Blackstone/Beam Living idiots are deluded into thinking they will rent here. As if. They are just shitting on the place you idiots!
No heat this morning.
"No heat this morning."
We never get heat if it is in the 40s. We're lucky if we get heat when it's in the 20s! Then it is only a puff now and again.
Came home at 4PM to a cold 68 degree apartment. Yesterday on a 60 degree day it was 73. What a slum dump this is.
They love the dogs. At the beginning when they first allowed them, they were able to rent more apartments. Now all the students and transients have dogs. They cater more to the dogs than the residents. This place is full of dogs.
23?degrees and no heat. Impossible to sleep because of cold. God! How I hate this vile Galug -style dump!
A woman came into my building with three, yes three oversized dogs. Unbelievable flaunting of dog rules.
25 degrees outside. A "toasty" 66 in my LR. Gotta order a space heater NOW. I heard the radiator-looking type are the safest. Damn this f**king slum. I wish I qualified for NYCHA. I think it's a hell of a lot better. At least they get tv coverage when they get no heat. The only tv coverage we ever get is when the corrupt, useless, complicit TA and the equally corrupt, useless, complicit political goons gather for a photo op to pat each other on the back and kiss each other on the ass.
Will NOT be renewing my lease.
We have heat today. Unfortunately, these old apartments tend to be chilly even when the heat is on. The windows are drafty and don't fit tightly. If you open a window when it does get very warm, or if you want to open the kitchen and bathroom windows a crack to let steam and cooking smells escape, chances are you will never get it closed again! My bathroom window is open about two inches and it is stuck! I'm not going to break my neck standing on a step-stool in the bathtub fighting with it! I've squirted WD40 onto the hinges, but it is locked in place like the Pyramids. The windows in this place are absolute garbage! Also, cold air whistles under the door from the freezing cold hall. I don't expect them to heat the hall, but I don't know where such frigid air comes from as there are no windows in the halls. Putting a draft rug works when people are home, but you can't put one on the outside when you leave because that is against the rules.
Bottom line, it's a struggle to keep these 75 years old units warm and it behooves Management to keep the heat on more consistently because in between the sporadic puffs of heat, the indoor temperature drops like a stone. I'm in an unrenovated apartment, but I would never ever pay the kind of rent the people in the renovated units are paying (even if I could afford to) because they have the same defective windows and are subjected to the same substandard and ineffective heating system. I am wired for a/c and could use a space heater, but don't like them.
The poor old ladies next door to me are not wired for a/c and they plug their space heater into a regular outlet. Their apartment is even colder than mine because of the exposure. Because of that I live in dread of a fire breaking out in their apartment, especially as one of them has gone quite senile and the other one isn't too much better. The City really needs to step in and properly inspect these apartments because the cursory quick look for mold, etc., is just a formality. They should look at the conditions some of the elderly tenants in unrenovated apartments are putting up with and their wonky space heaters; they should look and see what the students are up to with their overcrowding and all the pot smoking and whatever else they do. A negligently discarded joint is as dangerous as a negligently discarded cigarette. God only knows what they "cook" in their units. Anyone remember the sulphuric acid horror of a few years ago? I think a couple of people died in that event. These kids should be in real dorms. Bottom line, this place has gone to Hell.
What an over-priced dorm...er...I mean dump.
No heat.
Unbelievable.
18 degrees outside. 55 degrees in my bedroom. Have a hoodie and wool socks on as well as my pajamas. Damn the bloodsucking vermin who are running this place, whoever they are. Kennedy, Schwartsdick who ever. Am contacting a friend at Daily News tomorrow. The vermin who run this hell hole ask us to recommend friends! Wouldn't wish this dump on my worst enemy. Bastards!
Good point. The city should inspect this dump. So many violations.
28 degrees at 9 PM and the heat is off. These MOFOs had better put it back on again because the temperature is dropping like a stone. I am going to demand that a City Inspector visits this dump even if I have to dance on somebody's desk. I have a couple of friends in the Mayor's office and I'm going to take advantage. Our Councilman is useless.
Be aware that the city inspectors do not come immediately and notify management when they are coming. My visit in response to my call came 5 days later and of course at the time he came, I had heat. Powers is useless. Ignores our issues.
STR - Please publish this one. Yes, it verbally attacks one of our politicians. It is, however, 100% accurate, and not some ad hominem rant. Thank you.
Keith Powers is not simply useless.
He is stupid; he is power-hungry; he is utterly unaware of who he is.
I met with him personally and had a very, very friendly, cordial conversation with him and started off by asking him to just tell me the truth and not lie. Disclaimer: it was not simply myself visiting him; I had an appointment 4 or 5 years ago back about the "events" forced upon us. Two other tenants accompanied me.
Despite the fact that it is plain to me he is pretty damned intellectually challenged, he is among the most believable liars I have ever come across. That's saying a great deal, since I've found most people to lie much of the time. It's a peculiarly human trait, although some other animals can engage in similar activities to outright lying and half-truth-speaking and such.
I had dealings with several of the young staffers in his office - unusually friendly and amiable dealings - for some time. Until it became clear they were going along with the standard political agenda of LIE LIE LIE LIE DEFLECT DENY DELAY LIE LIE LIE.
"Useless" and "waste of time" or "waste of space" are characterizations to which I object strenuously. When we pay people to help us and they instead hurt us in order to suck up to other people hurting us, and when they simultaneously steal from us by diverting money meant to help the public, and when they take huge or even small bribes in order to make themselves feel like "big" people, then they are DESTRUCTIVE, INJURIOUS s.o.b.'s. Bad character. Thieves. Plug in a word - noun, adjective. Miserable rotten specimens of this species!
I never met Rivera, but she is clearly another evil here. I spoke with Epstein. He's smart, well-spoken, and one nasty person when called on his lies. Kavanaugh refused to meet with me and his staff fobbed me off (another, personal matter).
Hoylman? I cannot say enough praiseworthy things because it was only through his staff that I found a first COVID-19 vaccine for my husband when they were scarce and rationed.
When I was in my late teens and 20's, I was an exceptionally political animal, in both my personal and professional life. I worked with, campaigned for, and became personally involved with a score of people in politics. A couple were truly intelligent, THINKING, CARING human animals. Most were egotistical, arrogant jerks.
Powers is one of the non-thinking, not-too-bright types, and he is downright dangerous and inimical to us.
No heat this morning. What a surprise! And only for four thousand a month. A true "amenity".
I totally detest and despise Rivera. She and I are of the same ethnicity and are often judged (misjudged) as being purveyors of crime, violence and filth. She feeds into that misjudgment because she and very many of her constituents are Latino. She has no shame and no pride.
Agreed that Powers is dumb as a doorknob!
This place really has gone down the toilet. We have little to no Public Safety and what we do have are a bunch of uncaring dopes. Anybody can (and does) get into these buildings. We are by no means safe in our homes. New York City is deluged with guns, insane homeless people, insane all sorts of people and all kinds of thugs and killers.
Our neighborhood used to be extremely dangerous, but PCVST was safer than its surroundings and Security was a group of well-trained beefy MEN. Now we have a disparate bunch of young men, barely out of puberty, a dumb and probably corrupt retired woman copy in charge of them (sort of) and while the neighborhood is worse now than it ever was, PCVST is just as dangerous.
Something happened today that resulted in the death of a resident. Don't know if it was murder or suicide. There was a discussion of it on the Tenants (not TA) FB which suddenly disappeared! I suspect Commander Dunn was the Decider in Chief. Nothing on the TA FB. The new Manager of Resident Experience (gimme a break!) shot out a note.
Btw, her title sounds like it should be that of an employee in a nursing home, not a rental apartment complex. This place gets more and more artificial every day.
DANGEROUS, YES:
Who has information, or can obtain it, about the fatal shooting at around 3:45 this afternoon (Wednesday, February 16, 2022) in either 449 East 14th Street, or at First Avenue and East 14th Street.
Supposedly, a woman was fatally shot and no information is forthcoming other than rumors of suicide or not. I doubt it was suicide since my partner was outside when the interior and exterior of Stuyvesant Town was crawling with cops and a helicopter overheard was plainly searching for a suspect.
Miss Bar and Restaurant Person In Charge sent a "Good Neighbor" piece of stonewalling, refusing to let us know what happened.
We need to know. I feel for the dead woman and her family, and so on. BUT WE HAVE BOTH A RIGHT AND A NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED IN OUR "COMMUNITY" THIS AFTERNOON.
Dear Residents,
As you may be aware, an incident occurred in our community this afternoon that sadly resulted in the death of a resident. Our thoughts are with their loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
We appreciate that the local emergency services response may have you worried for your safety and well-being. We are confident that this was an isolated event, and we want to assure you that there is no ongoing cause for concern.
Out of respect for those close to the victim, and due to the ongoing investigation, we are limited in what additional detail we can provide. Resident Services and Public Safety will not be able to answer any questions about this incident. Please continue to contact them about any other matters.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. As always, take care of yourself and your neighbors.
Regards
Siobhan Kennedy
Head of Resident Experience
The L trains have stopped, too. Different incident. Someone (died?) was on the tracks.
"Partner"? What the frig is "partner"? What happened to "boyfriend", "girlfriend", "husband", "wife"? This douchebaggery has got to stop before we're all speaking Mandarin.
I doubt we will ever know. They hide information about crimes that occur here. If they are mentioned at all, the occurred in
"Gramercy."
I've noticed that the Honeymoon is definitely over with Ms Bars and Buffets because the sudden onset of steady heat has come to a complete halt. Back to frozen assets.
That Edmund Dunn person is a total control freak! He really needs to be on meds. He also needs to get a life and a hobby other than monitoring and controlling the stupid facebook page he is a moderator of. Talk about OCD!!
"That Edmund Dunn person is a total control freak! He really needs to be on meds. He also needs to get a life and a hobby other than monitoring and controlling the stupid facebook page he is a moderator of. Talk about OCD!!"
YES! He really is a control freak and if you argue with him in any way he will banish you from even being able to read his stupid FB page. Quite clearly, he is THE BOSS! Capo de tuti capi. Maybe he is hen-pecked at home and this is the only way he can assert himself.
It is quite dangerous both inside and out. Inside, they don’t know who lives here anymore. So many transient apartments. Outside that vendor block on 14th is a crime den. Mentally ill, homeless, many harass people going about their business. Our esteemed congress members ignore it. The ST security force is inferior. I saw one today who could barely walk. It is a filthy and crime ridden area inside and out.
@9:50 PM: you have that EXACTLY right. We don't know who lives here. Apart from long-time tenants everybody is "Welcome Home." Mr or Mrs. or Ms Home lives in 3 out of 4 apartments here. It is nothing more nor less than a transient hotel/motel/AirbnB/and whatever else dump.
That Hayduk character was a complete con artist. A charlatan who was hired to reduce this once-livable and highly sought-after apartment complex into a shabby, tawdry SHITHOLE. Sorry about the language, STR, but why not call a spade a spade?
They cannot rent these apartments out to people who are really looking for a nice place to live, at least for a couple of years, because the rents are laughable for what you get in return and the place is cold, drafty and run by total morons. The only people who are decent and do a decent day's work are the porters. I am willing to bet that if they were not unionized they would not be here and Management would not be able to hire people of such high caliber.
The people who work in Resident Services were, at one time, intelligent, knowledgable decent people. Unfortunately, most of them have gone (don't know the reason) and now they have a handful of people who are semi-bright working and there and they expect tenants to rely on Artificial Intelligence. The Artificial Intelligence they use is even less intelligent than Nadeem and his successors. That is very, very bad news for we tenants.
It will never get better as long as we have a vicious, criminally avaricious landlord and the type of crap who will lower themselves to work for such landlord. And until we get some decent, honest politicians who are not ass-kissers who will do anything to get ahead, no matter the collateral damage, nothing will change. Hoylman is about the only decent pol we have. The rest of them are garbage.
He is also very active in the TA. That is a telling sign.
Well said. Our porter is great and the resident service reps are always nice and try to do what they can. Otherwise, the place is a hellhole. I am embarrassed to have friends visit me here. I totally agree that Hayduk was a hypocritical con artist .
Nothing in any of the newspapers about the horrible suicide yesterday. If T&V was still in business they'd be on it!
The area around the mailboxes look like a homeless shelter.
Packages strewn all about, garbage left by the carriage rom door, dog sh*t as soon as you step outside. Nice!
With the balmy weather, 46 degrees at last check, who are we to wish for a little heat? Such nerve on the part of the tenants!
From our Resident Experience:
As you may have seen, we sent a message yesterday about a sad incident that occurred here. We want to reiterate that this was an isolated incident and we have been informed that no other people were involved. There is no cause for you to be concerned.
We understand that it can be frustrating when we aren’t always able to reveal all the details of incidents that occur here. Sometimes, the media may even say things that we cannot or will not. There are a lot of reasons for this, including advice from law enforcement, legal considerations, and out of sensitivity to those involved.
Despite this, we will always default to trying to be as transparent as we can be. Sometimes we will have to be vague. This is especially true if it is to reassure you that there is no ongoing cause for concern like we did yesterday, as the size of law enforcement response is not always a good indicator of the risk profile of a situation. We believe this is an important part of our commitment to being Good Neighbors.
Thank you for your understanding, and thank you for caring so much about our community.

Basically: Move along, nothing to see here. And have a nice day and be a Good Neighbor.
Also, she cannot write in English. Illiterate and lying. Great combination
"Basically: Move along, nothing to see here. And have a nice day and be a Good Neighbor."
I can think of a two-word response to Ms. Kennedy - and they ain't "Happy Birthday."
I believe there have been a lot of suicides in PCVST (especially ST) that have never made it to the newspapers. I can recall some of them. It makes me wonder if there is something about this place that seeds feelings of hopelessness and despair. It has gotten worse over the last several years. I think the abundance of greenery and large, stately shade trees provided some sort of solace for troubled souls and could help a person get through a bad day. Now, the only green that matters to this (and recent) landlords is the green of $$$$$$.
Human life is only quantified in terms of greenbacks.
"Also, she cannot write in English. Illiterate and lying. Great combination"
Typical of resorts/hospitality ilk. Opacity and obfuscation of the truth are required skills.
I live on the 14th Street Loop across from Avenue A. So many young people coming home since 2:30 AM, screaming, laughing, braying. Must be the bloody students. They should NOT be using this as a dorm because these morons have no consideration whatsoever.
Just took a virtual tour through an apartment that is identical to mine except that mine is a real one bedroom and the apartment in the virtual tour is a "junior two-bedroom." It's a chopped-up one-bedroom and is hideously configured. It's all Ikea and being touted as something that it is not. Stuyvesant Town has been totally bastardized by these greedy dirtbags and the "reconfigured" apartments are horrible.
