At this point, Management has two priorities: 1) Making sure money is made, hence upgrading and filling up apartments is their goal. "Amenities" are important in selling the place, though few residents use them. 2) If someone needs medical attention, Public Safety will be there, if alerted.

Quality of life issues are not that important, however. They tend to be ignored, despite "the rules." So you will see a lot that isn't taken care of properly, and complaints will be met with a creative excuse and a smile.

"Peace and quiet" must be a cruel joke, though this property is sold that way. There can be no peace and quiet as ALL apartments must be upgraded, which includes the installation of an AC unit below the window. Aside from the continual construction about the neighborhood, there is a new and noisy subway extension being built along East 14 st and the shut down of the L line. "Choosing" to live in NYC, now the newest mantra, is a fabrication when the talk is of ST and PCV, which was traditionally quiet, with no construction noise.

Though money was always important, it is now more important than ever. Money rules many things, as you will find.

Why the Chief of Security Should Be Fired

It's evident that things have not been working well, via Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village's crack security force, for quite a while. Though a portion of the blame can be laid at the feet of Tishman Speyer and their awful reign of this place (may their name forever symbolize avaricious greed and massive incompetence), it's time to get a tough attitude toward our security force--and the guy in charge of it, a hefty gentleman who ensconces himself in the Management Office for what seems all of his work day.

ST/PCV's security force doesn't have much to do, which makes their lack of will to fulfill their functions that much more annoying. They certainly are fruitless at catching anyone who actually commits a crime, as the near 100% reliance on the MCI-gift monitor center off the FDR Drive is self-defeating. As has been pointed out numerous times, you need "boots on the ground," a visible presence, to dampen the very idea of committing a crime here in this complex and, possibly, catch perpetrators in the act. But, excepting occasional vehicle tours, the occasional security presence at the Oval Booth, and the manning of PCV's 1st Avenue guard booth, you will not see a security presence much around this area.

Aside from the crime issue, there are certain rules and regs of living here, and security has proven itself to look the other way at offenses or simply not care about them. I refer to the rules and regs concerning bicycle riding and dog management. Bicycle riding is PROHIBITED in this complex, yet security does just about NOTHING to stop bicycle riders. Once in a blue moon, particularly when a Stuy Town blog notes the problem, there is a very temporary push to stop a delivery cyclist or a 6-year-old on a bike, but otherwise these two-wheelers whiz by, even in front of security, and nothing happens. WHY?

As for the dog rules, security does NOTHING nowadays, allowing dogs to piss and crap everywhere, go on the grass and gardens, go off leash or run out those stretchable leashes that extend a mile long. Furthermore, security does not say a word to thug outsiders who walk their prohibited dogs (like pit-bulls and German shepherds) through the complex.

WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?

So the security here is run abysmally. That's evident. And now it's time someone paid with their job for this incompetence and lack of carrying out basic job duties. And that someone has to be our Security Chief.

I nominate Obama as new Security Chief. He can't do more damage than he is doing in DC!

WHY? Because they're a bunch of big hairy-assed wusses who are too fat, too stupid and too lazy to do their job!

Some folks just have to keep spewing their bile about Obama everywhere they go. You would think he'd lied about WMDs and launched an illegal war or something minor like that.

Adam Rose boasted about what a great head of security he'd hired. Where's the proof?

There are more racists in business suits than in pick-up trucks in this country. Those are the ones who just can't get over Obama and want him to fail.
As for Security, I think that when we get new owners and a new management team their first priority should be to shake up and shape up Security. We have just about reached the level of a housing project (courtesy of Tishman Slumlord Speyer) and unless we want it to go further downhill the Security issues have to be addressed as the top priority on the agenda.

I don't want this thread to get sidetracked by Obama talk, but I reject outright the idea that anyone who is against Obama is a racist. I'm sure that there are racists who want him to fail because of his race, but there are legions who are against him because of his policies and his political leanings and activities.

Rose said he hired a great HEAD of security. Now we only need the rest of the body so he/she can actually patrol STPCV. Unless of course the new HEAD of security is a member of the Addams Family , then the HEAD is all we need

Many Obama supporters have no intellectual reasons to support him after his performance these past 14 months so they resort to saying that it is all Bush's fault (actually partially true) and that those who criticize him are racists (a charge that I find abhorrent and obscene and which is designed to shut up his critics ). many of those who brand Obama critics as racists also branded Bush as Hitler. Liberals love the First Amendment except when used by those who disagree with liberal theology and since most liberals can't debate the issues intellectually they resort to ad hominum attacks designed to stifle dissent.Ain't gonna happen!
STR -sorry for the digression but this opponent of Obama is not, and has never been, a racist and is incensed that liberals resort to such rhetoric to try to stifle dissent

Just a note that in order not to derail this thread more, I'm not approving further political posts on national politics.

Not true, by any means. I worked for a large property management company and on numerous occassions we were brought in as new management company to take over buildings that had pet friendly policies. However, our mandate was to inform tenants that those policies had changed and they had until their lease expired to get rid of their pets or move.
In fact, now that Stuy Town is all rent stabilized again, the next owner would be a fool not to change the policy. This way they could get many apartments to turn over and raise rents by 15%. In the buildings we did this for many long term, rent stabilized people who adopted pets were forced to leave because they refused to give up their pets.
If only TS was this smart they might have held onto the property. LOL!
