Hurricane Aftermath

Photos taken this morning. A number of trees down, including a massive one across the 20st Loop. Flooding in the tennis and bocci courts! Damn!

I was hoping the Oval Atrocities and the Leasing Office (especially the Leasing Office!) would be flooded!

Two new Oval Essential Events:

24 Hour Gardening:

Put on your hip boots and dig out your shovel and join your neighbors to rebuild the property. You know Rose isn't going to do it! Fee waived with two new tenant referrals!

Bucket Brigade:

Basement flooded? Tired of mold in your storage unit? Join us RIGHT NOW and we will provide the bucket! Bonus--participants will be allowed to keep any semi-soggy property found in the trunk room. Act now because space is filling up fast (like the water in your basement).

You KNOW they're pissed that they already printed up the September brochure...

Flooded? I was hoping they'd be destroyed!!!

Me too!

Instead of wishing anyone or anything ill will. Lets be thankful there were no reports of anyone in STYPCV getting hurt.
As soon as the rain and wind stopped Rose had crews stating to clean up. Lets give Rose a little credit here.

Bravo! Rose swept.

There is no reason pat Rose Associates on the back. If it wasn't for Stuy Town Living and their facebook page I wouldn't have known my hot water was about to be turned off. I'm still without hot water.

Rose engineered the whole damn storm just to uproot the rent stabilized trees so they can replace them with stinky market rate cabbage patches...

Rose is doing what they have to do. If only they'd been as concerned about getting information to tenants but they didn't have to do that so they didn't.

I walked the entire property earl Sunday afternoon. Rose had two crews out there in ST, one at the Avenue C loop and one at the Oval. Theer wer no crews to be seen in PCV until late afternoon, early evening when they sawed up some trees that fell behind 5 PC Road, blocking the Road and their three garbage trucks that were parked there.

To date, Rose deserves very little credit for what they have done.

I think we should give a shout out to the managers and employees of Associated Supermarket. They were absolutely deluged (no pun intended) by shoppers on Friday and Saturday and they managed to keep everything moving and although there was occasional tense moments between customers who thought someone was trying to cut the line (when they were just trying to get to the shelves) the staff stayed calm and the cashiers were good natured no matter how harried they were. I've sometimes seen snide remarks about the cashiers at Associated, but my personal experience of shopping there almost every day ever since it opened is that they are a group of very nice, pleasant, polite ladies and gentlemen. I can't say the same thing about a lot of the customers I see shopping there. I tip my hat to the cashiers of Associated and, with one or two exceptions, the managers are pretty decent.

Rose has the money and manpower to print and deliver to each apartment glossy brochures for Oval Nonsense. Too bad they don't have something left over for building cleaning. Most of these brochures go straight down the garbage chute along with the menus and other flyers that get shoved under our doors.

Speaking of sweeping, I was awoken bright and early this morning by two Rose employees sweeping up leaves. They were speaking SO loud it was as if they were in my 9th floor apartment.

Rose Associates also delivered those deluxe brochures to each apartment a couple of days before the arrival of Hurricane Irene, but were not able to deliver to each apartment info about the hurricane. BTW, what the hell happened to using the intercom screen for messages? Wasn't that one of the important functions of the intercom?

Anonymous said...

Rose proves over and over again that it is a totally incompetent management company. We are paying for these damned intercoms that don't work most of the time and, as for important messages from management being put on these intercoms, forget it. That is just window dressing.

I'm thinking if you're going to correct someone's spelling/grammar, you should probably check yours also.

Today Rose proceeded with the well-disseminated metal-polishing exercise in my building. The signage noted that, despite the noxious odor, there is no danger to tenants or other vicarious organ donors.

The cleaning workers were wearing masks that first-responders at ground zero would have killed to wear, had they not been killed themselves.

Meanwhile, the plaster is falling off the ceiling on my floor by the chunk next to the elevators. Not to worry, the cleaning crew picks them up every other week when they come by to vacuum.

The facade is polished while the infrastructure rots...

"You must write there emails."

Shouldn't that be "their emails"?

Anonymous said...

Cheese,

The cleaning crew comes by to vacuum every two weeks? Are you paying someone off?

Stuy Town Reporter said...

In my building the vacuuming of carpets is like once a month!

Anonymous said...

In my building, at least on my floor, the vacuuming is when I do it which is maybe once every 10 days. We should be getting a rent reduction because the buildings are NOT cleaned and the dreck that people (i.e. students) leave in front of the garbage chutes is NEVER moved. There is a ton of it rotting on my floor right now and all of us RS tenants have promised each other that we will not move it even if it starts moving on its own. Rose should be fired and fined. What a useless, incompetent "management" they are no better than TS, though the Speyers were undiluted EVIL as well as stupid and incompetent.

The vacuum in my building broke, they left it in the hall.

Once a month!! Who are YOU paying off?!? I've moved a small piece of thread around the carpet on my floor just to see if it'll go away. Even when I vacuum outside my door and over to the elevator near me I keep an eye on that thread. It's been there since the week after July 4th!

Also, the lipstick-on-a-pig, whore's paint job that Met quickly threw up to woo T/S was always poorly applied and only one coat. It's been "suffering" since about two weeks after it went up. Don't polish our metal...DO SOMETHING REAL! Paint us. Clean us. Maintain us. Remove the carpet...from EVERYWHERE. Perhaps if THEY were a bit more "houseproud" then maybe the newer tenants MIGHT get a clue. Or not. Certainly it'll make the tenancy & their guests (potential renters?) much, much happier.

I can top your thread issue. Several months ago I posted on this site about one of Rose ASS. newest tenants who got all drunk and fell asleep on the stoop of the main entrance to my building. He fell asleep after much screaming into his cell phone, telling his I'm sure by now ex-girlfriend about how much she sucked etc (he used much more colorful language). Several calls to security later they finally show up after this tenant violently threw up all over the stoop and went back into his main floor apartment. Anyway the point of the story is that, that puke is still right there at the entrance to the building where this drunken Rose Ass. quality tenant left it. It dries up and is then reborn every time it rains. It is without a doubt the worst performance I have ever seen in a mangement company..... ever. Not even Tishman Speyer was this BAD! I have called about the puke not only the first several days after the event but weekly since and still the puke remains. It basically sums up Rose ASS. and CW Capital's feelings about the property. They dont care if we all get puked on, they're not cleaning it up, but be sure to pay your rent on time while they disturb your peaceful enjoyment of your home with their ridiculous events geared at bringing more of this type of tenant to puke on you some more! Happy Puking Yunnies!!

Produce photos of said puke stain. PLEASE!!!

If that's true, it makes ya wonder what that kid was eating and drinking that night! Obviously wasn't anything biodegradable!

In 8PCR on the 8th floor there is a notice still there from January advising of apartment renovations in the building. The fact is, to the extent they spend any effort on maintenance, Rose spend it on exterior curb appeal around the oval. They certainly don't do it in the buildings which are staring to look like slum tenements.

Anonymous said...

The lack of maintenance in the complex is really noticeable. My Mom's building has broken light fixtures, peeling paint, filthy hallways. I guess CW is taking all of the money and paying off some of the debt. They certainly aren't putting it into maintenance staff.

Did you also happen to notice the sign in the elevator stating that they would be performing floor refinishing in apartments under renovation beginning at 9AM...

ON SUNDAY MORNING!!!!

WTF?
