OK or not OK?

PCVST LIVING introduced a new game this week for residents. You may have seen it all over the complex. THE OK OR NOT OK GAME. The rules were never clear to me, but I think game players had to guess or discover how many OK mattresses and sofas were on display throughout Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village and how many were not OK. Winner is expected to be announced when NYU officially begins classes. First prize: a cup of lukewarm coffee from Oval Cafe. No second or third prizes. (Sorry, CWCapital is frugal when it comes to tenants, as you know.) Below is a sample of exhibits--which speaks well of the luxury housing we have. Those paying market rate rents for living in an environment like this, please repeat: "I am not living in the projects, I am not living in the projects...."

What a dump.

hahahhaha. Please post on Yelp and NYU reviews.

Moms and Dads of student dorms hereshould know what they're getting for their precious babies.

We should also photo some of the peeking Toms seen around the property, those who like to hide in stairwells and elevators. No need for a doorman here in Luxury Living!

Wow! And all I got were photos of two empty wine bottles left near the handicapped lift in my building and forest of packages left by the USPS in the lobby. Have to get out more.

Transient tenants and their transient cheap furniture. Pollution courtesy of CW.

Just now, within 11 minutes, three screaming Bro herds come by my window. One herd was not co-ed, had ELEVEN BROS in one pack. One of the co-ed herds knocked down a locked bike. They all laughed. Yes, NYU is back.

I read today that the City is cracking down on recycling violations and issuing fines to landlords. They could balance the budget if the check up on our recycling or lack thereof!

12:07 NYU is back indeed. With the bro herds flows over ten million subsidized housing dollars from NYU through MacCracken through the bro student through ST PCV to ????? Time to inundate 311 with each and every single complaint on file. Starting with the even yours, 12:07.

12 07 we have this all the time. They think this is the campus you know and why wouldn't they? It is a campus, nothing more now. A playground for them to drink, hang out outside, traffic free, in our hallways, act stupid & party all night. Just wait until Fall kicks in.

Why wouldn't they, no one here tells them it's not the NYU campus or otherwise.

I'm sure we'll get an MCI for picking the items up. Especially if we complain and have to have it done quickly.

damned if we do, damned if we don't here. we aint going to win Str.

equals an MCi for garbage pickup

Students behaviors are a disgrace. Shame on you NYU

"OK" refers to no BEDBUGS found in the mattress. Luxury living at its best here in STPCV. What a depressing state of affairs.

Nothing like living in the PROJECTS!!!! WHAT A JOKE!!!!
I really feel sorry for Security. Let the "games" begin.

Anonymous said...

Worse than the Projects Most of the Projects are cleaner and better policed. Does the 13th Precinct ever send anybody over to this place at night when these student assholes are disturbing the peace and our "Public Safety" guys are dozing for dollars?

Anonymous said...

Bedbugs and spiders. Buildings on the office building construction site have a spider infestation from the site or the shipments of construction materials they brought in.

loop-roads stop signs blocked by moving trucks, farmers market trucks. PCVSTU own garbage trucks block the sign, most driver just run the stoplights, security looks the other way.
black 4x4 parked the entire day at loop at B and 14 street, has NYPD sign in front window.

Stopped going to the Oval Cafe, coffee cold and overpriced, danishes old and stale, sandwiches poor, water overprices, I recommend to go to Bruno's on First avenue and eat at the chesstables.

These mattresses and couches are placed at strategic locations within the community by CW Capital. They are for the use of the residents. Stuytown and PCV span quite a large area of 80 acres. Some residents like to walk through the community but get tired. These
mattresses/couches allow said residents to take a quick nap and then be merrily on their way! I applaud CW Capital for 'thinking outside da Box'

Just when I was giving up hope on our landlord. This is good governance at its best! Thank you CW Capital!

Whoever scrawled OK on those mattresses (not the owners, one hopes) should have known that legally they're required to encase them in plastic when they dispose of them.

Garbage in. Garbage out. Welcome to the student dystopia.

Seems so, doesn't it? Another violation???

I never thought of that. You may be right!

Speaking of bedbugs --- we think we have a case of in our building PCV. UGH

should i post or report somewhere? ugh

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Report it to management and Public Safety ASAP.

There's a bedbug registry for NYC. You should post it there. Knowing CR, they won't notify neighbors.

NY Times Got It Right

Real Estate Spinola owned Cuomo
and
Bank lobbyist Kathy Hochul are
NOT ENDORSED by THE NYTIMES!

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/08/28/new-york-times-tim-wu_n_5730520.html?utm_hp_ref=new-york&ir=New+York

"The editorial cited Hochul's "deeply troubling record on health reform, gun control and environmental deregulation" as reasons to seek an alternative. "

If we end up with a REBNY owned Governor and a Wall Street owned Lt Governor Cuomo Hochul the whole state is doomed, fracked, gunned, done..

Leaving those mattresses for bulk pickup by the Dept of Sanitation is a violation that comes with a $100/mattress fine. In NYC, bedding can't be donated.

However, I cannot find anything regarding recycling mattresses on the NYC Resources page. There is at least one company that picks up mattresses in NYC for recycling. Not sure what the disposal regs are for that.

I doubt they're for pickup by the Dept of Sanitation because the workers would probably report this stuff. A call to mgmt would probably clear this up. Or to Dan G or the TA to investigate if you don't want mgmt to know who you are.

What building in PCV????

Please also report bed bug infestations on the TA's website on its Bed Bug Registry:

Where do the not "0k" mattresses go?

Anonymous said...

Riding the elevator with a young man on his cellphone, my husband and I hear him say "Yes, I'm calling from the projects, the corner building….." (We live in PCV.)

Anonymous said...

Probably not a good idea to post here which building your bugs are in. Kwim folks? I do know that the one near the playground has or had them.

Anonymous said...

Those NYU business cards are getting bigger and bigger!

Anonymous said...

That is a really good question - where are the not "OK" mattresses?

The OK mattresses disposal curb side has to be all sorts of wrong too.

How and where did they discard the dump trucks of contaminated soil from the Oval amenities and from the office Building site?

Now that the kids are back our recycling room is disgusting, over-flowing garbage bins, and leaking trash bags.

The trash and disposable dorm furniture is as big of a problem as the plumbing, electrical, elevator, and wear and tear on the property.

Not OK!!!!

Anonymous said...

CW/Compass Crock have dragged us down to their nasty redneck level. And where is our TA? Councilman Dan the Sham?

Anonymous said...

Are these mattresses and couches put out for us to sink into when we become overwhelmed by the fumes from the leaf blowers? Or maybe they are for the drunken students who can't find their way home to crash onto and sleep it off?

Whatever, they are a blight on the landscape and should be removed ASAP.

Who would ever have guessed that PCVST could sink so low to the depths that it has descended to now? This used to be a clean and respectable housing complex, occupied by fully-vetted and credentialed tenants. Now it is a shithole full of nasty-assed, self-absorbed little twerps who don't know how to wipe their backsides unless there i an iPhone app for it.

It is simply amazing that we have absolutely NO ONE here to represent us and help us change things to what they once were. It is soo out of control here, and I for one, feel absolutely helpless. We have to get rid of these students, put back up the chains, and no more dogs. All these rules worked soo well in the past. Now, it's a free for all. Soo sad..................

Besides other than the ability to spell "OK" in spray paint, who are these certified inspectors of anyone with a spray paint can qualified?

Anonymous said...

IF RULES WERE MEANT TO BE BROKEN, THEY SURELY APPLY HERE.

Anonymous said...

I've seen the "inspectors", they're just regular maintenance guys with a couple of flashlights and a can of spray paint.

Hey, it's a living, and besides, they don't live here, so OK away!

Anonymous said...

I had them remove some upholstered furniture from my apartment. Just as another poster said, a maintenance guy with a flashlight does a very, very cursory "inspection" and gives it the OK. A mattress or piece of upholstered furniture would have to be literally crawling with bedbugs, crabs and lice that were large enough for the naked eye to see with a little flashlight before such an "inspector" would be able to say "NOT OK."

The total shams that this sham of a "landlord" gets up to boggle the mind. And to think they are getting paid $millions to do such a lousy job is outrageous. I wish to God that 60 Minutes would descend on this place. I wonder if anybody at CBS reads this blog?

Please stop dreaming- this complex will never be the same as it was years ago, before the invasion of NYU and the market rate tenants.

Can you imagine what it will be like here in 5 or 10 years. Save your sanity. Move out of this crap hellhole before it swallows you up.

Another divide and conquer defeatist wrongfully lumping RS tenants paying MR rents together with the NYU/post-grad transients, and then recommending everyone should surrender and run for the hills.

RS tenants paying MR rents are the most abused, most ripped off ST-PCV residents. They chose to live and raise families here for all the right reasons. Their class action lawsuit drove the final stake through Speyer's heart and nailed his coffin shut.

Current abusive, excessive rent amounts combined with inevitable abusive rent increases will force RS tenants paying MR rents to buy into just about any pending conversion. Unfortunately, the relief Garodnick and the TA offered to RS paying MR is an unnecessarily expensive Brookfield condo. It's outrageous how RS tenants paying MR rents will be ripped off and abused by their "partner" Brookfield.

If only that were true, literally and figuratively. Unfortunately, Rob Speyer is still going strong (and uglier than ever) and owns our Governor.

What a big dump of garbage heap! Thanks for the photos STR. MetLife would have never allowed such garbage. They treated the grounds as a precious baby. This was their baby. The past 5 years have made it a construction garbage dump. What building wold allow spray painted OK grafitti on mattresses strewn on the front lawn? Low class.
