The "Poor Fence"

Unbelievable. I heard of this, a New York addition to "poor doors," but to actually see a photo! And it's happening in De Blasio's NYC, which tells you where the real power is.

I am very disappointed in our Mayor. He supports the very rich, such as those who live in the tall, skinny skyscrapers that he has "no hang-ups" about and, to a limited extent, the very poor who can only go up, not down, in their lifestyles. He has no thought for the middle class. We don't exist for him, except when it comes to the elections. I hope he doesn't expect us to vote for him for his second term, should he decide to run again. Just like Garodnick, he is talks the talk, but doesn't walk the walk. I'll be glad when both of them have disappeared into obscurity, though I don't hold out any hope for whatever comes after them.

That is disgusting. Discrimination and bias isn't just about skin color or ethnicity. DeBlasio's New York is shaping up to be an even worse Tale of Two Cities than even Emperor Bloomberg could have envisioned.
Those tenants should invest in a good pair of wire cutters and get rid of that fence. That is absolutely sickening. New York City is becoming a sort of Feudal State!

What next? Armbands for the RS tenants?

This is so totally fucked up. What the hell is this city coming to?

Wow.
Poor Doors.
Poor Fences.
Poor Senior citizens displaced from their homes into death row smaller cells.
..in PCV ST poor RS paying more than fair share on MCI charges than the MR who are considered to already be paying too much on their rent so let's have the RS help subsidize the MR. Oh, and the MR are pushing a conversion plan that depends on evicting the RS by the use of MCI's.

Discrimination is rampant in NYC.

I have lived in PCV ST for over 30 years and most of the old residents I knew had more class and care about their neighbors than these heartless "new stabilizers".

Oh, and let's not forget to mention that this Mayor is having NYC taxpayers give developers millions of dollars to build these poor door / poor fences buildings.

The Mayor has been eating too much birthday cake with the Robbie Speyers and needs to get back in touch with the People.

Poor Fence?! Poor Doors?!
NYC is on the WRONG track!

Other than being so much taller than Mayor Bloomberg, Billy De Blasio ran on the "I'm.not Bloomberg ticket". Well what do you think now? He & his cohorts are an embarrassment to this great city. If you need more examples of his hypocrite way, she out his new Gracie a Mansion privacy fence, the nerve of this guy.

This is absolutely horrible and probably illegal. Maybe those tenants should contact the ACLU and see if their civil rights are being violated.
I'm not trying to be incendiary, but if those tenants were people of color, they would have the Reverend Al protesting on their behalf.
As an earlier poster pointed out: discrimination is discrimination and it isn't limited to race. New York was always an egalitarian, multicultural and diverse city and that is what made it so much better than other places and attracted so many people to want to come and live here. We cannot stand for this divisiveness on the part of developers, politicians and plutocrats, all three of which piss in the same pot and are sleep in the same bed!
How did this "Upstairs/Downstairs" mentality become the rule of law? Only since Mr. Bloomberg put his indelible paw print on the city. A lot of us were hoping that DeB would erase that paw print and bring back some of what made New York City so great.

They should hang laundry on the fence and then see how fast it comes down!

Maybe there should be fences around certain neighbors and people not let out except according permissions on their freedom licenses which could be issued by the city.
There could be police stationed at exit-entry points to check licenses and enforce the rules. Traveling outside the city for some might be allowed only on the basis of special applications. Hey, sounds like this fences thing could have legs.

One term Bill built a fence at Gracie so he doesn't have to see anyone. All he (and all phony progressives, like someone we all know) want to see is "the money". Show me the money.

What if instead of paying dues to the useless CWCTA we sent the money directly to the politicians. Since there are millions of renters, if we each kick in x dollars in bribes perhaps we could out bribe the RE overlords. Seems tha'ts our only hope anyways....sad as it sounds.

This is fiction. No such place in NYC.

Off topic...check out the ungrassy area across from the fountain in PCV. It's a dog run now. What the hell are they turning this place into?

I almost peed my pants reading the histrionics in this thread. What in the world are you people complaining about ? Their lease specifies if the outdoor space is part of their apartment or not. Obviously, it's NOT. Read the contract.. that's what you're entitled to, nothing more.

Honestly.....

I know I digress, but what is it with these lazy asshole postal workers that they have to leave parcels in the lobby, even though the name, address and apartment number is clearly written on the label? We never used to have such HORRIBLE service from the Post Office.

Ignorance is bliss, however I recall the management indicated the fencing was required so they can maintain a staging area for their scaffolding/window washers.
The tenants in question got their apartment thru affordable housing lottery. Their new landlord has redefined the "poor door" policy. It's these manipulations of the housing agreements that make me believe there's a special place in hell for landlords.

Just put a bunch of rugs and blankets over those fences and REFUSE to move them if there is nothing in your lease that says you can't do that. Just see how fast that fucking thing comes down. God! Am I ever sick to death of what is going on in New York City now! Rent stabilized people and middle class people will soon have to wear yellow armbands and obey curfews so that these filthy fucks can keep up under their thumb.

Please stop using Holocaust references in your posts. The middle class in NY is not experiencing the Holocaust, and your comparison is insulting to the memories of all those lost. Get a grip.

9:36 am, you get a grip and stop dictating what people should or should write.
Armbands and curfews have been applied in many places to oppress people. The Palestinians in the Israeli settlements have to abide by a curfew and would probably have to wear armbands if they didn't already wear an identifying manner of dress.

Okay, please enough on both sides. I'm not letting squabbling about the Holocaust and Palestinians through after this. Thanks.

wow. I read the threads, room for window washing equipment seems like a necessity. How are the window washers suppose to work and how are the other tenants suppose to get their windows washed if they don't have space to do so?

What about fire safety? They probably don't care about that
