Happy Holidays and Happy and Healthy New Year to you and yours, STR.

Hey, here's something to cheer about during the holidays:

NYU Schedule-Saturday, December 20, 2014 -Sunday, January 4, 2015 Student Winter Recess--No classes scheduled

They will be back prior to New Years. So enjoy it while you can.

Merry Merry to you to STR! Thank you for all you do for your neighbors and community and readers across the country and in San Francisco who are going through the same plight.

Peaceful, yes, 8:22, without the party that happens on my floor every week. I dread their return after winter break. I think management told them to have weekly parties to get us out.

Make no mistake, Cuomo gave our homes to BFF Langone for NYU dorms. PCVST is a full fledged NYU campus. All the lies about preserving affordable housing while they get the population down to 10% middle class people is one of the biggest scams in NYC history.

Thank you STR for the forum to read all about these past years. May you prosper in the new year, STR.

Here are the dorm advertisements for when they return and the furniture they no doubt use our gouged renovations charges to pay for now that we learned the the head of renovations PCVST now works at NYU.

Curious. In this section, why aren't they allowed to include the residence hall name? Does that cross a legal line that proves they are breaking the law here with illegal dorms?

A reminder of their plan that is coming to life. Last paragraph very interesting and very telling.

Woken up at 4AM last night from two DRUNKEN young couples kissing and fondling each other in front of the flagpole last night where one of the couples could barely stand up. Mommy and Daddy would be soooo proud of them! These are our neighbors now, HUH? LOVELY!! THIS PLACE IS RUINED FORVER! RENTING TO NYU STUDENTS MUST STOP!
MERRY MCI EVERYBODY!!

Happy holidays to you too. See you in the new year!

Enjoy the holidays STR. Your service is an underappreciated treasure keeping ST-PCV residents informed about the sorry state of affairs plaguing our community.

Simultaneously, your blog is a constant thorn-in-the-side publicly exposing the corrupted, greed-fueled predators circling our homes in their quest for our blood.

Funny how the holiday greetings turn so quickly back to the situations here.

I know of buildings uptown where students have rented. Turnover in these buildings is slow and there aren't many students in a building. They're fairly isolated.

What's different here is there are so many vacancies and so many opportunities to cram the place with students, that is turns STPCV somewhat into a campus where the students actually become a large presence that feels entitled to move the place toward its own wants and needs. Which of course changes the whole nature of what was once a solidly middle class, family-oriented community.

Anyway we're dealing with a management that is money hungry and crass. 2015 unfortunately will be no different than the past 5 -6 years.

Ditto 10:01

We, the people living here, need an independent auditor to assess the property, the illegality of the MCI charges, the illegality of the Roberts so-called Settlement, the illegality of the construction, the safety of the buildings and soil, the illegality of the renovation charges, the illegality of the dorms, the illegality of the rent overcharges of all tenants in all apartments. It cannot be an auditor hired by the allies or anyone with an interest in the purchase / sale so the auditor can prioritize protecting the people living here.

Anonymous said...

8:10 AM: I 1000% agree with you. How do we go about getting an independent auditor? This is something that a REAL TENANTS ASSOCIATION would do, but we know we don't have such an organization here.

Anonymous said...

8 10 I also would like this.

Anonymous said...

Not sure it is so vacant. See their site.

Anonymous said...

Lots of hot air and "we should" talk on this site and no action. I'll stick with the TA thank you.

Anonymous said...

Looks like the TA updated their website. It looks quite good now. Thankfully, they changed the logo from that ugly "hammer and sickle" type logo to a much better one.

Why can't we all just get along.....R.King

And to you too STR. Thank you for all you do for us.

Demand an independent audit. Our entire PCV floor needs one. Where do we sign and hire.

Whether it’s NYU, Parsons, The New School, etc., being gone on their holiday break, it is amazing how (fleeting it may be) the QOL of life here has improved. The number one factor destroying our QOL here is the dormification of PCVST with students and the just post college tenants (students are usually in that mix as well). Undergraduate or graduate, it really doesn’t matter; the vast majority don’t have any empathy. I understand that bad neighbors can come from all age groups and demographics (my friend has a family from hell living above him, 3 kids who stomp, stomp, stomp, all the time, lawyering up and meetings with management to no avail so far) but since nearly every renovated apartment (I estimate 90%) becomes “dorm" style” here, never to return, the impact of 3, 4, 5, 6, usually very entitled, parental funded, unrelated adults living in one apartment in a once family-friendly oriented environment is an ecological/sociological/infrastructure disaster. I have actually (I face the Oval) not had to turn on my white noise machine this past weekend for Friday and Saturday nights. I know, how sad. Rumor has it that on any given weekend, PS cannot respond to noise complaints since they are overwhelmed by so many. Regardless, remember, ALWAYS call PS (note names, dates and times) and do the on line 311 noise complaint, they do go to the 13th precinct and NYPD will respond as well if they are available. The audit trail is critical. There is much talk here about how the TA sucks and what we can all do on an individual basis. For a start, we need to swamp PS (who are the good guys, respect is a two way street, its Upper Management, Legal and Tenant Relations who are the bad guys here) and NYPD (again, the good guys) with legitimate noise complaints. I know, it’s no fun having a PS officer come into to your apartment to verify a noise complaint but this is how life is here now. Also, go the PCVST Yelp review link located on this blog's banner page, sort by date and everyone needs to click on “Useful" for all those recent one star reviews. Management promotes PCVST Yelp reviews via their webpage and social media. Let’s light up those one star reviews NOW! Oh, BTW, the college students below me (of course, no 80% carpet compliance) have returned, they are blasting their crappy Z-100 type Auto Tune stuff already. Three founded noise complaints, (other major issues as well, duly noted with PS and Management) two noise complaints recorded via 311. More to come, I’m sure. This is exhausting and no way to live but why should WE move?

Happy New Year to you STR

Happy New Year, STR and a Big Thank You!!!

ps I hope you don't expect us to extent those Warm, Peaceful Thoughts and Feelings to Rob Speyer, Andrew MacArthur, et al. I hope they have miserable holidays and an even more miserable 2015. I'd love to see Speyer and his partners in crime pay for their crimes.

Verizon is soliciting us at property entrances, included on my lease, sponsoring Oval rock concerts, and Senator Hoylman offers customer service assistance....just what are the details of the Verizon PCVST deal, how much money passed hands and to whom? My 2015 new year resolution, stop doing business with any company involved in the destruction here. Goodbye Verizon. Buh Bye!

Every resident is getting overcharged and screwed by MCI's

Aspiring buyers are getting twice as screwed, by MCI's and the speculated new price for a condo.

Flippers will barely break even when real value of place is adjusted.

Even college students are getting ripped off, a Yelp review:

Denise M.

1.0 star rating

"My son lives here with two friends. They are young professionals and med students.
They have not lived here six months and the rent went up 600.00. Really crappy thing to do. They will be leaving."

Link to Yelp to read the horrors sorted by Date

http://www.yelp.com/biz/peter-cooper-village-stuyvesant-town-new-york?start=40&sort_by=date_desc

...Stuyvesant Town is an advertiser on Yelp. Yelp chosen reviews are heavily biased. Reading reviews sorted by date gives truer perspective on reviews. Apparently Yelp is not a trusted source if you only read their featured chosen reviews.

Anonymous said...

600$ is nuts. An outrage? Why do people lie down and put up with this?

Tommyboyardee said...

As I probably ranted earlier, who would buy cable/internet/phone off the back of a truck? Whatever possible sneaky/unethical deal that may transpire between the two, CW does realize that Verizon was a tenant and opted to leave on their own. Perhaps if perspective verizon customers shared the same opinion as I do, before entering a contract with your traveling salesman (Verizon) you would hold off until they have more of a permanent presence.

ABOVE IS THE OVERCHARGING FORM FOR DHCR. ALL OF US ALL OF US SHOULD BE FILING.

DO IT. NOW. Only pussies put up with the crime here.

Happy New Year STR!!

Anonymous said...

Agree everyone has a lot of money they are owed from the many ways they are over charging us from misapplied mci charges to fraudulent renovation charges. We are each owed thousands. Even the mom whose kids got that $600 increase was already getting overcharged. Everyone needs to file the above DHCR form! We are owed thousands of dollars each and this time won't be tricked into a crappy settlement.

We all want the same thing - to live in peace and safety.

To come home from stress at work to a peaceful safe home.

Mayor de Blasio please change your mind and rid this community of the assault on us since 2006.

9 years of being threatened and terrorized, betrayed by our representatives, our homes stolen, our quality of life non-existent, our faith in the future lost.

Start the new year with a new message, save the middle class community here and show the country how to do it right.

Anonymous said...

There is nothing warm or peaceful about this dump. Not warm because they barely give us any heat, no matter how low the temperature dips. Not peaceful because there are apartments stuffed with student assholes who don't give a damn about anybody except themselves and who never sleep!

Anonymous said...

I doubt DeBlasio will last through his first term and, if he does, it will be his one and only term. Hopefully, we will soon see the last of Garodnick and Silver. Silver belongs in the slammer and Garodnick should just slither away back to his shitty law firm. Schumer's brother will probably put in a good word for him because they are of the same ilk, i.e., sleazeballs.

Form again:

DiBlasio will be here for the duration so why post this nonsense. New Yorkers don't give a rats ass that he sucks. They're just elated that he's a democrat. Would not matter if he were a convicted criminal.

Anonymous said...

What a sleazy, disingenuous, dishonest, bribe-able, greedy, vulgar Wall Street-REBNY owned group of politicians New York has. They and the REBNY ilk are not representative of New Yorkers. What a gross culture in City Hall and Albany. The news on Silver is shameful and embarrassing for New York.

New York is the most corrupt state in the country.

NY has some of the world's most desirable real estate and instead of having politicians that guard and protect that valuable asset, they sell it and themselves to the highest bidder and destroy it to appeal to the highest bidder's gaudy taste. On top of enabling crimes, allowing our communities and homes to be used by money launderers from all around the world and even a few right here.

New York is the go to place for corruption and money laundering by Wall Street and Real Estate. All these politicians need to be put behind bars.

Silver and his ilk are the highest form of embarrassment for all New Yorkers. The politicians are not representative of New York or of the real New York culture.

Thoroughly disgusted by all the politicians, especially the shit-eating grinning ones we will soon see at the upcoming REBNY fundraiser. What a disgraceful bunch.

You might want to include RCN in that. When our apartments were rewired, RCN came in and installed boxes in all our apartments, even those of us who weren't customers. Management claimed that there was no kickback for allowing that and that the work was done by RCN workers, but I've always believed that management at the time pocketed money for that while we got an MCI. The TA fought this, but DHCR wouldn't seriously look into the situation (big surprise). Just a little history for anyone who wasn't here at the time.

Anonymous said...

For anyone planning to file for a rent reduction, keep in mind that you can't file for something more than four years old. That is stated clearly on the form.

Anonymous said...

WE'RE ASKING FOR AN AUDIT. The 4our month rule , does that include the 6 months Dhcr sat on it, without doing an audit or worse?

Anonymous said...

2:00 PM there are ways to get around that. DHCR workers who are honest will assist in filling out forms to get all your money back because there are instances where you can go back to your move-in date. It depends on specifics on your overcharges.

Why are you trying to discourage us by saying there are limits to how much of our stolen money we can get back? Are you on team Brookfield / CompassRock?

Residents have more power then they realize and can push for more than the rules on a form, depending on the type of overcharges they are suffering.

And again for the Residents!

Ahhhh, the 4 month rule. How convenient or why not just tell residents it's total BULLSHIT, WE WOULDN'T DO AN INSPECTION OR ROLL BACK YOUR RENT EVEN THOUGH COMPASS ROCK AND CWC HAS BEEN GOUGING AND STEALING AND CHEATING you.

Anonymous said...

1:57 the TA doesn't really fight. They do just enough to make it look like they are opposing something, usually a little too little and too late, and they always have an excuse for why they didn't get results and always blame others. Another example of them being either inept, incapable, or corrupt or all three. It is a pattern with them in all their "fights".

Same old TA Board song and dance

Anonymous said...

2:00pm that simply is untrue. There are special circumstances where you can go beyond the 4 year limit.

Also there is clear fraud involved in some of the ways they are overcharging and that is not limited to 4 years as you say.

I can only guess you are on the TA Board who is always discouraging tenants from filing and going on record with issues here because it would effect your purchase plans. You need to find a way to do your purchase plan that does not require we get screwed and overcharged and take it up the a** in silence.

Anonymous said...

Management did indeed get a kickback for the RCN installation of its cables in every unit. I don't remember the details, but a misdirected fax brought it to light! Also, it turned out that we were not getting the special deal that RCN had promised tenants.

Anonymous said...

Yo! 7;54am: you mean like the Staten Island gavonierri voted Grimm in again?

Anonymous said...

2:00 so what? If they overcharged me as little as $10 a month that is at least $480 over 4 years. That is worth it to file the form!
Besides, that rule you try to use to convince tenants not to bother to get their money back, that rule like every rule, has loopholes.

Anonymous said...

7:24 I totally agree with you But it's not a TA troll posting the argument, it's a CR employee. The TA is not pushing the pipe dream of owning any longer. Even they know (all three of them) it is dead.

Anonymous said...

I'M FILLING OUT OVERCHARGES TODAY FOR THIS CRAPY SCUM PLACE WHICH IS NOW CHARGING ME MORE MONTHLY TOO. MCI MY ASS, INFLATED RENT MY ASS TOO.

FILE IT PEOPLE FILE IT. IN FACT, I MAY GO DOWN THERE TO THE DH CR AND RAISE HELL INPERSON. GL WITH ME IN YOUR WAITING ROOM.

Anonymous said...

Anyone who knows what the loopholes are for getting around the four-year rule should say what they are. We'd all appreciate knowing that.

Anonymous said...

There is NO 4 YEAR RULE.
