Another (major) NYC Landmark to Change and a Loss to NYC's Average Joe and Jane

http://nypost.com/2016/01/20/this-is-the-ziegfeld-theaters-next-act/

"It’s fade to black for Midtown’s iconic movie palace the Ziegfeld movie theater — but the iconic venue at 141 W. 54th St. will be reborn as a spectacular high-end event space, The Post has learned. The new Ziegfeld Ballroom will be a mecca for society galas and corporate events, to open in fall 2017 after a two-year renovation of the space."

Hmm, perfect for REBNY galas and events. Maybe even a future Dan Garodnick event.

Event Spaces are a dime a dozen. The flatiron is overrun with event spaces. Not for locals, or any type of classy venue, but for renting party spaces for corporations, high end cocktail model / waitress brand ambassadors liquor girls and boys, PARTYYYY!

At least they're not going to knock it down and build luxury condos!

Goodbye Ziegfeld. I saw 2001 A Space Odyssey there in the late 60s with my Dad at a midnight show.

Beautiful movie theater. Will be missed.

This city is becoming as soulless and superficial as the REBNY-owned politicians who run it.

New York is no longer the place for musicians, artists, painters, actors, innovators. NY is nothing more than a corporate sponsored tv commercial with plastic game show Hosts giving subsidies to the wealthy.

Where are the 700 guys who leaf blow and work at the Skate rink? Are they not also paid to clean our streets today?

Sadly after Netflix came into the picture, ticket prices became high and bedbugs came into movie theaters, going to the theater isn't what is used to be
