Our landlord, BLACKSTONE, can't handle Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village. There is a lack of enforcement of certain "rules," and no amount of notice to this alleviates the problems. We are continually being told half-truths and fabrications. And we have no viable Tenants organization, despite our TA asking for dues all the time. So far, the politicians have proven to be basically useless. A typical New York story.

You don't have to be very smart to realize management wants tenants like this, those under age 25, paid rent from mom.dad. The management has dozens of families, responsible tenants fleeing out of here due to the increased rent, yet they do not offer concessions, lower rent, zero increase. And even more obvious is that they actually LOSE money in the empty apartment, renovation of it, paint, cleaning, and in actuality (know this to be fact) rent that apartment at an even lower rate! They are hell bent on just moving out tenant, moving in--- at whatever cost. This increases the legal rent and weakens the RS of each apartment - the loophole (o, so many) is the rate that the housing agency of NYC allows the increase and the numbers are staggering.
10:19, OK, technically as a limited peace officer, they could bring you to the precinct, but practically speaking, do you really think that would happen? I've been stopped myself, by real NYPD, for minor infractions, and insisted that I did not have ID when asked to produce it, and was always let off with a warning. Unless you're really being an asshole and just begging for it, they're not going to go through the trouble of hauling you back to the precinct house over a minor QOL offense.
And no, I'm not endorsing raucous carousing on the property. Just pointing out that you can often find people having a quiet drink on the Oval lawn, which is actually forbidden by the rules. The people I witnessed getting written up were definitely not being loud or rowdy, and it's extremely unlikely that they would have been detained if they didn't hand over ID.

Well, since this post is about people bragging on the internet of illegal alcoholic beverage consumption in Stuyvesant Town earning badges for the more you drink, it is fair to say there is something going on leading the NYPD to ignore the situation just like the situation was ignored on the Airbnb market rate apartment listings. I love how City Council tries to act like they were in the dark on what their real estate developer pals are doing. Communities are losing affordable housing, medical beds, and parks because our City Council is in bed with real estate developers and a corrupt city "economic development corporation" that is robbing us all blind. The same council member names keep coming up in all of the dirtiest of real estate deals. This one is hiding behind her communications director who was verbally promised by a real estate developer and is back peddling with excuses of really trying hard to find legal recourse....sounds like another councilperson who likes to say his hands are tied because what the developers are doing is legal....
1. If it is legal then the lawmakers are to blame
2. If councilperson Chin's office is so easily duped then councilperson Chin is not qualified to keep the office and someone not so easily duped (or using "being duped" as an excuse) should take over the councilpersons office. Immediately.

This year's final RGB hearings guidelines:

2-year lease: 2%
As always, this is the catch that must be fixed at the NYS RS law, NYS Senate, level:
"However, if a tenant is paying a "preferential rent," which an owner agrees to charge and is lower than the legal regulated rent that the owner could lawfully collect, the owner may be allowed to increase the rent up to the "legal regulated rent," even if the increase is greater than the rent increase guidelines that are in effect."
Please tell me that Bloomturd in the past or Joe Lhota (if he had won) would even considered this (0 %) as part of his agenda for his appointees to the RGB. If a more progressive candidate primaries dB, I’ll definitely consider that person. But the standard poster response at this blog is to vote Republican, the party that does not believe in ANY residential rent amount regulations, always leaves me rather bewildered.

Quinn is a disaster waiting to happen if she gets her hands on the City as evident by her taking the position with Cuomo --- and Cuomo who is trying to knock out De Blasio to put Quinn back in to complete the REBNY rule of NYC. Cuomo and anyone he endorses as Quinn and Garodnick have the same things in common - they are hugely supported, ruled, run by REBNY.
I don't think De Blasio will be able to run from prison.

July 2, 2016 at 8:33 PM where have you been? All over the news is just the beginning of the corruption busting of those you mention and it will all go down on the current Mayor also.
I've just about had it with unsubstantiated rumors that are advanced as facts. I'm thinking of once again closing this blog, or at least leaving it open for myself and a few other people who, if they post, report only the fact. I'm not going to explain further.
