Oh-Oh....

https://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20161005/midtown/east-midtown-rezoning-development-rights-skyscrapers

Not a surprise. Our man Dan is quoted, of course.

Build, build, build. Higher, higher, higher. The city is for sale thanks to the highest bidders and the REBNY and the City Council and the mayor!

How about we put a stop to this madness until the transportation will treat people like human beings and not like cattle?

There are height restrictions in place regarding Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village. Imagine if they were not? Close your eyes and picture high rises all around you. Lovely to live in? You probably would lose sunlight, for sure. But you would have "loads" of amenities and be able to express to the 50th floor for a wonderful view of the sky.

Let's hope the slimeballs don't find a way around the height restrictions in PCVST. Money talks and buys everyone who is buyable. I would include the so-called "TA" in that group. Most definitely our loathsome Councilman and Mayor.

That looks like every other city in the world. Nothing unique about the skylines anymore.

I really didn't think a de Blasio administration would turn out looking as it has. I guess when Hillary is elected, Democrats will feel the status quo is in place and real estate developers will like this.

Bernie-type change at the national level strikes me as much more difficult than at the local level. So in the next election I'll be looking for candidates at all levels who sound and act like Sanders. Will definitely not include de Blasio and Garodnick.

Tenant Association and Baruch relationship courtesy of Brookfield

Of course Brookfield was courtesy of Bloomberg. Yup, former mayor bloomberg arranged the sp-called Brookfield "partnership" with the tenant association in 2011. It was a lie or as the politicians call it "PR Spin" when former Mayor said he was not getting involved in Stuyvesant Town and the lies kept on coming with the new mayor and the deal these two mayors closed on this property.

This is a quote from the Chris Christie Bridgegate Scandal trial

“What’s the difference between being a spinner [and] a liar?” Critchley, Kelly’s attorney, asked Wildstein.

“I don’t know how to answer that,” Wildstein replied. “That’s how people in politics deal with reporters.”

The StuyTown deal is a spun tall tale by two mayors.

We know that politicians will lie to us and that is why I do not intend to vote ever again. It would be nice if our Tenants Association told the truth, though.

Yeah it is everywhere. Chicago looks like they sold out the entire city for international money. Look at page two. Chicago looks just like the photo in this post. Rahm Emanuel did a number on that town.

Once that hideous building was put up on 23rd at Madison, developers and the city could say...hey, this isn't a variance; it's the new standard. And so another one of these super tall building is going up close by.

So I don't think STR wants this to become a political blog, but in the end I don't see how this is avoidable,

Because there are laws on the books that would have a quality of life impact here with respect to buildings, dogs, bikes, etc...if the laws were enforced. And whether they're enforced really starts with out politicians.

I have to say that Sanders was right about the corruption in government. Whether through Democrats or Republicans, it's there from top to bottom. Garodnick and the TA are so much a part of this. Somehow it all has to stop.

STR, are you removing comments or is somebody else doing it? i thought you were the blog administrator around these parts.

THE BIG SQUEEZE
Another chopped apartment going in. Are these things legal on Peter Cooper Village Stuyvesant Town Certificates of Occupancy or are the DOB and HPD putting our lives in danger. Maybe tenants should start thinking beyond a lawsuit against the landlords to including a lawsuit against the city, against the de Blasio administration! More 3,4,and 5 bedroom apartments squeezing 6,7,8,9,10 and more tenants inside.

Same game in Brooklyn and all over the de Blasio Administration's way of running and ruining New York City:

The Big Squeeze

"It’s because what’s trending in Brooklyn is “The Big Squeeze.” That means landlords either are moving tenants in and out as quickly as possible to raise the rent each time– or, even more convenient, chopping the apartment up into as many tiny rooms as possible to rent it at an inflated rate. After all, who really needs a place to eat, have company, watch t.v. or just relax, when you can do that all from the bed in your bedroom?

For example, at 415 Washington Avenue in Clinton Hill, two- and three-bedroom apartments with dining rooms and French doors are being turned into three- and four-bedroom apartments. So now, one 1,100 sq. foot unit that was renting for $2,925 a month is now a four-bedroom apartment going for $3,900 a month."

Anonymous said...

I asked this before and never got a response so I'll try again. To all the lawyers out there...Is it possible for tenants to sue the TA to get them to cease and desist??

How does poor little Dan Garodnick balance his REBNY skyscraper corruption and his global warming concerns? After all it is a proven fact that skyscrapers maintain heat. That is why NYC is always hotter than the surrounding area. That must be a tough call. Obviously he and the city council must have taken the money over their concerns about the environment.

Anonymous said...

I think people are just so fed up that they are almost giving up until they either leave or die. Dan Garodnick and the TA have done nothing to help us, and that's the bottom line.

Once Dan moves on to his next position, he will leave the TA high and dry.

I am and still am. One I removed by mistake, a few others I do not let pass if they are too political or insult someone by name. My call on that. Otherwise, all is fair.

Podesta emails are interesting. They really show what kind of terrible Mayor we have to put up with.

I'm going to have a post, I think, that will ask the question should we be helping management in tracking residents who are not really residents, etc. Why are we doing this? Blackstone has enough capital to get these people and all the other violations in the complex (like dog shit and speeding bicycles), but aside from superficial stuff doesn't seem to care.

"I'm going to have a post, I think, that will ask the question should we be helping management in tracking residents who are not really residents, etc. Why are we doing this?"

That will be a valuable and interesting post.

Fact is Tishman Speyer Management,or whatever the property name du jour is, advertises their crimes on the internet and ALL the authorities who are supposed to stop fraud crimes are ignoring ALL the evidence and facts. .. because .... they are in on it.

Fact is the Mayor De Blasio DOB commissioner and Tishman Speyer Properties or whatever name they go by today built increased occupancy units on purpose with the intent of using them to pack in as many unrelated occupants they can squeeze.

This one on the First Avenue Loop was listed as a "condo for rent" on October 14, 2011 TWO years after the TA, RE and City, State politicians tried to convince us with PR spin lies that Tishman Speyer handed over the keys in January 2010.

Brazenly they thought they could get away with this because Albany lawmakers and housing authorities are in on it all to evict all the permanent residents so they ALL (city and state politicians and real estate developers and Tenant Association investors) did not think twice about running condo rental ads all over the internet.

They, the developers and politicians, believe we are stupid and thus easily duped and that they can do whatever they please to anyone because it is not likely they will hold themselves accountable. Seriously, the politicians and developers have zero respect, regard for permanent tenants. Albany runs the state as a caste system society where only those in glass towers get respect, access to laws and politicians.

Here is one that Tishman Speyer PCVST Management ran saying they already converted the one bedroom into a two bedroom yet Tishman Speyer PCVST Management did not file proper documents with City on Certificates of Occupancy and with Housing authorities like the DHCR now that Tishman Speyer PCVST Management admitted and advertised to ALTERING THE ROOM COUNT, INCREASING THE ROOM COUNT WHICH SHOULD BE FACTORED INTO THE MCI CHARGES SINCE THE FIRST OF THE CHOPPED APARTMENTS WAS CONSTRUCTED!!!!!!!!!!

This MCI FRAUD scam where the landlord pockets higher rents on units by corruption in De Blasio's DOB permitting "already converted" one bedrooms to be advertised on the internet as two bedrooms, putting lives and safety at high risk with the higher strain on the un-maintained infrastructure, is a deadly dangerous and massive FINANCIAL FRAUD against every tenant.

But because Albany is in on it the management company du jour brazenly run ads on the internet about increasing room count while the Tenant Association, the Tenant Association lawyers, the councilman, the DHCR ignore all the evidence and the internet ads and keep overcharging permanent residents the MCI costs with heavier burden of MCI charges placed on the rent stabilized units to favor the market rate units all courtesy of the Tenant Association and their lawyers. Not one of them ever challenged the room count even with these brazen ads all over the internet.

Challenging this is the Tenant Associations obligations, job, reason for existence. They did not.

The 2014 MCI phony negotiations for college dorm security is probably the biggest of the financial frauds as it brazenly is for the increased occupant units to meet with State Laws for Dorm Authority.

Wait till DeBozio starts putting homeless people in Sty. The taxpayers will pay (no choice); BS will profit and tenants will suffer, including the homeless being warehoused here. If it's not already happening, it soon will. We won't be notified because transparency is anathema to DeBozio, but we will find out eventually. Btw, I have nothing against the homeless unless they are drug-addled or criminals. Many of them are insane and pose a serious threat to themselves and others. Then the Sty Moms will have much more to worry about than the squirrels!

Just to clarify: this is just my opinion and conjecture and I maybe (hopefully am) totally wrong. Don't want to do any scare-mongering, but we have to keep a close watch on this one-term mayor because he is arrogant and slimy.

I think we are heading toward national politics.

Civil disobedience on a massive scale in this city. And nation. Period.

If they aren't already in apartments, they certainly do love the easternmost flagpole benches in PCV! Almost every night there are a few sleeping there.

Anonymous said...

Perhaps WE (not the TA) can organize for a well thought out class action suit.

Again: there is civil disobedience.

And, finally: we've each and collectively a biological imperative to protect ourselves from harm.
