Teens allegedly beat man before midnight in front of 531 East 20 Street

Stuy Town or Peter Cooper address, July 12th, reported online by Town & Village:

The TA, our TA, is silent so far. So is Management.

*          *          *

Updated: 7/19. As we wait to hear more about the hockey stick beating, it's it apparent that some residents do not travel about the city to see how other people may live. For instance there is this place, on the West side, which has some strange rules:

This may be the same community. Or one which is close by. Take a look inside. Does it remind you of our own?

 They even have a church!

The greenmarket is on the sidewalk. A novel concept, that.

More of the greenmarket:

I agree to some extent, as far as the way "we" can feel and act, but most people follow what The Man says.

We are lucky that T & V reported this. I guess they thought it was important. Little did they know that there would be silence. Let's see what this week's T & V will say.

I can understand Management: They want to sell apartments. I can understand even Dan; he has bigger things to deal with, like the city and money. But I can't understand the TA. Our TA. They should be front and center on this thing, but they are...silent.

Given that quality of life and citizen safety were top priority on the City Council agenda June 2014 through March 2016 when Dalian Wanda was staying at the Blackstone leased space in Kushner's building awaiting groundbreaking and when the Tenant Association, Dan Garodnick were pursuing a tenant for an illegal hotel operation he has no excuse for not being on top of this hockey stick attack no matter what is on the city agenda.

THE SCUMBAGS WHO ARE MAKING OUR LIVES MISERABLE ARE NOTHING AND TO BE VIEWED AS NOTHING MORE THAN REPRESENTATIVES OF AN ENTITY WE HAVE A BUSINESS CONTRACT WITH, AS IN WE PAY RENT AND THEY PROVIDE SPACE. AS FOR THE "TA," IT IS DEAD. DEAD AS A DOORKNOB.

Sound familiar? Wheels of rolling luggage thumping up against the steps of StuyTown.

This is what Wall Street and REBNY are doing to NYC too in their latest fraud to make big profits from the tourism industry that the corrupt pols are enabling. Gone is what made Venice special and soon to be completely erased is what made NYC special. Venice, NYC, cities across the globe are being Disneyfied thanks to Mayor Bloomberg and Mayor de Blasio.

Venice, Invaded by Tourists, Risks Becoming ‘Disneyland on the Sea’ 18 / 20
The New York Times The New York Times
By JASON HOROWITZ

"The soundtrack of the city is now the wheels of rolling luggage thumping up against the steps of footbridges as phalanxes of tourists march over the city’s canals. Snippets of Venetian dialect can still be heard between the gondoliers rowing selfie-snapping couples. But the lingua franca is a foreign mash-up of English, Chinese and whatever other tongue the mega cruise ships and low-cost flights have delivered that morning. Hotels have replaced homes.

Italian government officials, lamenting what they call “low-quality tourism,” are considering limiting the numbers of tourists who can enter the city or its landmark piazzas."

Maybe the TA sent out notice of the attack to its paying members, therefore meaning 10-20 people tops got the notice!

Today is raining here and there, but yesterday I was at the new gym in Playground 7 and there wasn't many people. A photo posted on the TA Facebook proves it, though the poster
kinda says the opposite! LOL. I expect more attendance during Saturday and Sunday, if the weather is kind. But, unless you are into fitness and want to show off (yes, there are those people), your bet is to take in one of the nearby gyms which have basically the same facilities and are covered, with AC.

According to VERY reliable information I have, the ENTIRE dues paying membership of the Tenants Association is between 60 and 70 members...in its entirety! A true house of cards!
The whole TA is a corrupt sham,
a vehicle for lining the pockets of its officers and political wannabees!
It is a TOTALLY dishonest, impotent organization.
Kindly prove me wrong and publish a statement listing your official membership tally ( no names of course ) and OPEN YOUR BOOKS!
NEVER GONNA HAPPEN!
The Attorney General's Office and/or District Attorney Cyrus Vance should begin an investigation re where the money went and/or political slush fund.

I wouldn't mind paying the dues if the TA actually DID something for us! Apart from putting up a weak objection to the MCIs, which result in a few pennies per room reduction at best, they do nothing for us. In fact, they seem to work more for Management than for tenants.

I can't understand why they ignore the report of someone being assaulted with hockey sticks (which could have ended up with the victim being killed or maimed, but they have some "active shooter" nonsense presentation with the FBI. It makes me wonder if there have been any threats against the property and its dwellers that made the FBI request to do that presentation. There has been a lot of shootings on campuses around the country and this is definitely a dorm campus now.

This place gets more and more disquieting and I think there is something somewhat sinister and secretive about both Management and the TA. By "sinister" I mean they know a lot more than they want us to know and it's something that we are entitled to know. Creepy!

Agree with everything you say. They have been a sham for longer than most people know, going back decades. Problem is the AG's best friend of 50 years is the TA lawyer at Paul Weiss Law Firm so the AG will never honestly investigate them. Worse, the AG already knows all their crimes and misdeeds working alongside the TA and Paul
Weiss on those bad acts. The crimes and cover up go far and high in the sleazy cess pool halls of City and State government, Assembly, Senate and Governors Office.

The photo in T&V of aging men in an outdoor gym playground is laughably, pitifully sad. It is bound to be empty more often than not. Except for when they again try to have their sports game events like their failed volleyball tournament. The entire complex is being turned into a relay race of Playground events where all the playgrounds will host events at the same time.
They are hell bent on events, publicity and noise to kill of any semblance of a peaceful quiet residential home which is in violation of tenant rights. Thanks can be sent to Kavanagh, Hoylman, Garodnick, Glen, de Blasio, Shorris, Been gang.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

I applaud anyone who wants to get in shape, young or old, excellent health or not. But this "gym" is not really it. Oh, it's good for a few things at various times, but if you want to get in shape go to a real gym.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

It's also meant, in part, for those few buildings around the "gym." I can't see anyone from, say, Peter Cooper heading this way to so some (few) exercises. It's mainly a selling point for those that still haven't signed to be a resident. Of course, it is in back of the leasing office, right where prospective tenants are taken "outside."

There exists a photo rendering of the masterplan for the Playground renovations and subsequent marketing events. A Tenant Association duty is to inform residents of the masterplan, share the photo rendering, and take a position that reflects the tenants opinion on the plan.

It is important to know just who your Stuyvesant Town Tenant Association Board Members really are.

A City Council candidate who is a newly (2016) elected Stuyvesant Town Tenant Association Board Member has a serious-cause-for-alarm resume. This newly elected TA position is resume filler for his candidacy for Dan Garodnick's seat as he revolves through the lobby fir door.

The Tenant Association has a disturbing level of ties to serious crimes that are under serious investigation.

Tenant Association Board Member Keith Powers, who is/was a high ranking Officer at Vice President level at Lobby Firm for Trump Soho Hotel, Constantinople & Vallone. Trump Soho Hotel is under investigation for Human Trafficking, Money Laundering, etc.

"He has also represented the owners and operators of Trump SoHo, the Bayrock Sapir Organization. (Donald Trump remains on the liquor license of the hotel.)"

They were his personal clients, not just clients of the firm where he worked. His relationships, business partners, professional social circle whom he worked for.

https://www.villagevoice.com/2017/05/04/its-a-good-time-to-be-a-lobbyist-in-nyc/

He is joining the Get-Very-Very-Rich Club who use revolving doors from lobby firm to government office and vice versa that counts members, some listed in the article and some not listed as:

Stuyvesant Town Tenant Association Board President Emeritus Steven Sanders from State Assembly to Albany Lobby Firm who took money from the Stuyvesant Town Peter Cooper Village Tenant Association that still lists him as President Emeritus

Al D'Amato from Senate to Lobby Firm Park Strategies

and more.

It’s A Good Time To Be A Lobbyist In NYC
by Ross Barkan
May 4, 2017

"Typically, elected officials leave office to become lobbyists, not the other way around. Vallone traded in on his relationships in city government to launch a firm. Al D’Amato grew rich after he left the Senate to found the lobbying powerhouse Park Strategies. Mel Miller, a former Speaker of the State Assembly, is a counsel at the firm."

There is a long list of get-rich-quick operators by tossing out this community but the fact that one of the operators is brazenly on the Stuyvesant Town Tenant Association Board and his resume includes Constantinople & Vallone Trump Soho Hotel client who is under investigation for Human Trafficking and Money Laundering is cause for investigation of the Stuyvesant Town Peter Cooper Village Tenant Association.

That he is running for City Council to replace Dan Garodnick, and is endorsed by Liz Kreuger who wrote the landlord favorable law allowing Airbnb hotels provided guests are "permanent" by her definition of "permanent" being 30 days: and that he is endorsed by Senator Hoylman whose results in the East and West Village are disastrous should be a wake up call to every Stuyvesant Town Peter Cooper Village resident.

Common Cause New York's recommendation while good, is flawed due to action after the fact of getting into office. This needs to be stopped before the City Council replaces one bad apple with another.

"Common Cause New York, a good government group, recommended that Powers, if elected, should fully release his client list, agree to refrain from direct contact with former clients for at least one year, and seek an advisory opinion from the Conflict of Interest Board and disclose it to the public. “Anyone who has worked as a lobbyist before running for office should be careful to assure the public that they are putting the public interest before the interests of their former clients and will take appropriate steps to avoid the appearance of conflict,” said Susan Lerner, the executive director of Common Cause New York

This City Council candidate is coming into a possibility of holding elected office with more baggage then most who are already in the cesspool. As expected, Keith Powers PR Firm is Berlin Rosen.

This pattern of Lobbyists getting richer, developers getting richer, constituents losing house and home is long overdue for indictments, prosecutions, incarceration.

If Keith Powers gets elected, it is due to the fact that us constituents don't do our homework or we don't show up at the polls.

Although I do not support our president in most things he says and does, there is a reason he won, and that is because America is sick of politicians like Powers.

These politically motivated politicians had a politically motivated 2012 hearing with a political target at the behest of developers and other corrupt politicians:

Brad S. Lander, Melissa Mark-Viverito, Gale A. Brewer, Margaret S. Chin, Elizabeth S. Crowley, Letitia James, Jessica S. Lappin, Stephen T. Levin, Domenic M. Recchia, Jr., Deborah L. Rose, Annabel Palma, Julissa Ferreras-Copeland, Ydanis A. Rodriguez, Charles Barron, James F. Gennaro, Robert Jackson, Darlene Mealy, James Sanders, Jr., Eric A. Ulrich

Any of these politicians who are still holding office, any office better do the right thing and target the real Human Traffickers in business with Trump Soho Hotel by denouncing and forbidding Keith Powers candidacy.

Politicians who are politically motivated, self serving, working for Wall Street / REBNY instead of the Public Good have no place in Public Service. Shame on them for not denouncing him already. If the City Council allows him to continue his pursuit of the East Side seat then the City Council is sending a clear message that their hearing was a sham and their intentions are to maintain the old establishment club that already has its share of Human Trafficking, Money Laundering members.

Anonymous said...

The StuyTown Tenant Association turned this property into a college campus where mass shootings are common and elected a new board member in 2016, Keith Powers, who has clients under federal investigation for Human Trafficking and Money Laundering with mobsters. No wonder the StuyTown TA president Steinberg is having How-To-Survive mass gun active shooter situations seminars with Special FBI Agent Jin Kim. ST-PCV Tenants Association President Susan Steinberg has made this once peaceful community a most dangerous place to live that now needs FBI seminars on survival.

It is obvious that management and the TA are not going to address the incident concerning the attack with hockey sticks. Makes me wonder what else they are covering up. The fact that the FBI approached the TA (or maybe the other way round) to give a talk about active shooting situations makes me wonder if they know something that we don't and the hockey sticks attack is the least of the violence problems here. Did the FBI or TA get wind of a threat of a shooting on the property? Was a shooting averted and we didn't hear about it? Something prompted that event and I suspect that there is a lot that they are hiding from us.

Stay off the grounds and advise your friends and family to do the same is what I say. There is something very sinister being withheld from us and it goes way beyond the hockey stick attack and the attempted rape and murder that happened recently. I don't want my kids playing in the playgrounds here now. I'll take them to a City park where there are real cops around and plenty of undercover cops.

Keith Powers is the last person I would ever vote for. I won't vote for any of the current incumbents when they come up for re-election. Mark-Viverito is an absolute disgrace and utterly repulsive. DeBlasio cares more about chasing national and worldwide fame for his so-called progressive agenda than he does for his responsibilities as Mayor of NYC. He cares more about criminals, even illegal immigrants who are criminals, than he does for regular, hardworking New Yorkers and he is completely owned by REBNY. He is probably the most corrupt mayor we have ever been cursed with and the current CC is probably the most corrupt in the country. I will vote Republican, if necessary, something I have never done before.

Fact:StuyTown is listed, advertised, constructed, populated and state registered as a college-university dorm campus.

Fact: The FBI deemed it worthy of time spent to educate StuyTown on surviving shootings thus StuyTown is at risk.

Fact: http://www.securitymagazine.com/articles/87497-study-examines-shootings-at-us-colleges

REPORT: CITIZENS CRIME COMMISSION OF NEW YORK CITY

Securitymagazine.com

Study Examines Shootings at U.S. Colleges

Shootings on college campuses over the last five years have more than doubled since a similar period a decade earlier.

According to a report by the Citizens Crime Commission, the incidents have also grown more deadly, with three times as many people injured or killed during the most recent five-year period.

To analyze shooting trends at U.S. colleges, the Crime Commission reviewed 190 incidents at 142 colleges from the 2001-2002 school year through the 2015-2016 school year in which at least one person was intentionally shot (excluding the shooter) on the campus of a two- or four-year college, as well as incidents that occurred within two miles of a college campus, and at least one student was shot. Unsurprisingly, the increase was most profound on colleges in states with increased access to guns, the report said.

Not only have the number of shooting incidents increased, but the number of casualties during those incidents has increased significantly as well since the fall of 2001. During the first five school years, the report examined (2001-02 to 2005-06), there were a total of 40 recorded shooting incidents on or
near college campuses. The number of shootings increased 23% to 49 incidents during the 2006-07 to 2010-11 school years. Shootings doubled during the next five school years (2011-12 to 2015-16), increasing to 101 incidents—a 153% increase compared to the 2001-02 to 2005-06 school years.

Between 2001-02 and 2005-06, there were 61 total casualties during college shooting incidents. During the 2006-07 to 2010-11 school years, casualties nearly tripled, increasing to 168 killed or wounded; 42% of these victims were shot during the mass shootings at Virginia Tech (49) and Northern Illinois University (21). Casualties continued to climb to 208 (24%) during the last five school years—a 241% increase compared to the 2001-02 to 2005-06 school years.

Twelve states experienced more than five shooting incidents on or near college campus—accounting for 64% of the 190 shooting incidents. The highest number of incidents occurred on or near campuses in Tennessee (14), California (14), Virginia (13), Georgia (13), North Carolina (11), and Florida (11).

In the 190 shooting incidents between the 2001-02 and 2015-16 school years, 437 people were shot, including 167 killed and 270 wounded. The victims included 290 students, 77 individuals not associated with the college, 40 employees, and five former students (we were unable to determine the relationship of 25 victims). An estimated 2.5 million students were enrolled at the 142 colleges where shootings occurred, and, thus, were directly or indirectly exposed to gun violence.

Among the 145 incidents in which the shooter’s relationship to the college was publicly identified, 59% of the shooters were not associated with the college, 28% were students, 9% were former students, and 4% were employees.

Of the 149 incidents in which the circumstances leading up to the shooting were identified, 38% involved a dispute, 21% involved robbery, 12% involved drugs, 11% involved targeted students and/or employees, 7% involved domestic violence, 5% involved rampages with mass casualties, 4% involved shooters who were denied entry to or kicked out of a party, and 2% involved other circumstances.

The full report is at http://www.nycrimecommission.org/

It does not bode well for the Democratic Party when their handpicked candidate is a lobbyist with clients under federal investigation for Human Trafficking, Money Laundering, Pedophile. Lobbying for Trump Soho includes attending events where it is likely to be proven that underage girls were served up and the client under investigation is close friends with a convicted pedophile who flies the Lolita Express and keeps a little black book and videotapes. The Democrats need to clean up their act, clean up their house, clean out the scum, stop putting up candidates tied to pedophiles.

Donors, Fund-Raisers, Friends: Gaining Access to De Blasio’s City Hall

"Mr. Rechnitz, who owned real estate and aspired to be a developer, contributed the maximum amount to Mr. de Blasio’s mayoral campaign in 2013. He and his friend, Mr. Reichberg, were placed on the mayor’s inaugural committee, largely symbolic posts.

"After Mr. de Blasio took office in January 2014, Mr. Rechnitz made a large donation to the Campaign for One New York, a nonprofit group created by the mayor to support his political agenda. In May 2014, Mr. Reichberg hosted a fund-raiser for the group at his home in Brooklyn, attended by Mr. de Blasio, where he raised $35,000 ... Later that year, Mr. Rechnitz gave $102,300 to back an effort by Mr. de Blasio to raise money for Democratic state senators in an unsuccessful effort to win control of that body.

"The emails start shortly after the inauguration ... On April 1, Mr. Rechnitz wrote to the mayor and said he wanted to recommend a candidate for buildings commissioner.

“I’m all ears, Jona,” Mr. de Blasio wrote back. He included his then chief of staff, Laura Santucci, in the email, and told Mr. Rechnitz to send details to both of them. Later emails included a letter and a résumé from the candidate suggested by Mr. Rechnitz, but the person’s name and other information were blacked out in the documents provided by City Hall ..."

Remember June 2014, when Garodnick/TA Board called for a rally at City Hall against Fortress' plan to pay $4.7 Billion so it could successfully complete Speyer's failed business plan raking in multiple billion dollar windfalls pushing the middle class out of PCVST?

Remember all the STR commenters saying they would attend to protest against Fortress, but jeer and walk away in protest if Garodnick or TA Board spoke about their phony "tenant led purchase" delivering PCVST ownership to Brookfield or their phony, middle class unaffordable Brookfield condo scam that disenfranchised PCVST residents and had no PCVST resident support? Remember how, after years of telling us nothing but lies about how Brookfield was "our partner" that "shared our values," not one of our dishonest elected representatives, including Schumer delivering his promised exclusive access to Fannie/Freddie purchase funding to PCVST residents (not to Garodnick, not to TA Board and not to Brookfield), mentioned Brookfield?

Remember how, immediately after the rally a rumor mongering P.R. Lobbying campaign was launched about how Mayor de Blasio's failure to appear outside City Hall alongside Garodnick/TA Board raised doubts about his support for middle class PCVST residents?

Now we know. Just like Garodnick/TA Board, our NYC Mayor de Blasio had no problem betraying 25,000 PCVST residents for REBNY/Wall Street predators raking in multiple billion dollar windfalls pushing the middle class out of PCVST. He simply refused to fall into line for the phony Garodnick/TA Board/Brookfield condo scam. He wanted something else that led to the same result. His newly-elected NYC Mayor's Office was for sale and Brookfield had to compete for it. Black$tone was extremely generous giving our NYC Mayor lots and lots of $$$,$$$. Less generous Brookfield quietly walked away.

"I don't think there are any students in my building. Are we exempt from the paranoia??"

The above writer forgot to include "non" in front of "students" then it would be 100% accurate!

The apartment right next to me is leased by NYU. I know this for a fact.

Brookfield did not walk away anymore than Speyer Tishman did. They still have their money in it, their staff employed here. Their name is not on the door but their wallets are getting fatter as their staff continue the Speyer Family plan.

9:11 if there are students and they are respecting then who cares. It s the residents that trash the joint that need to be beat with teens with hockey sticks.

Incestuous Speyer run NY - from Jerry handed down to Rob is under
Lew / Bill Rudin Jerry / Rob Speyer control for decades with most egregious operations 1990's to present (demise and land give-aways designed then executed by the same few in-bred government players).

Speyer runs all City Hall departments

Speyer runs poorly named, mega-failure "Thrive" NY Mental Health which fails New Yorkers and NYPD officers so de Blasio runs away to Germany. They should call it "You'll Never Survive A Rudin Speyer Run NY But Rudin Speyers Will Thrive Thrive Thrive".

A Program run by Speyer, de Blasio wife Chirlane McCray and costume jewelry distributor whose company shares addresses with known global real estate money laundering route China, Canada, NY. Costume jewelry distributor who in 2015 officially, falsely, recklessly declares 1 in 4 people have Mental Health problems to expand her programs intake of anyone they (Speyer, Fialkoff, McCray-deBlasio) want to commit while Thrive repeatedly neglects real Mental Health patients including the man who killed Officer Familia.

Speyer runs so-called "Mayors Fund to Advance NY that was incorporated 1995 by MTA head Joe Lhota's wife Tamra Roberts Lhota. Mrs Lhota was a MAJOR fundraiser for notorious Rudy Giuliani. Mr Lhota keeps trying for Mayor while currently runs a failing MTA that prioritized billions in Speyer desired stations (Schumer's Brookfield Speyer Hudson Yards, Brookfield Place World Trade Center, and Cuomo's Second Ave Subway Rob Speyer needs for StuyTown Peter Cooper Village deal with Chinese developers).

Anything Rudin / Speyer's desire is granted by incestuous incumbents.

part 2 STATE

Speyer Won.

Speyer family runs Governors Office (Committee To Save NY, supposedly defunct but likely operating behind the scenes)

Speyer runs AG office (Speyer put people in key AG leadership positions).

In 2010 the Speyer family, Rob Speyer chose and placed Attorney General's Chief Operating Officer to run all Operations.

Since 2010 Speyer objectives are carried out by his personally placed AG Chief Operating Officer who was a Bloomberg "senior policy advisor in the mayor’s office of operations" then with no library experience got a coveted job at the Nation's 5th largest library as "the library’s chief strategy officer and vice president for strategic planning, brings to the job no experience in libraries per se." then went onto being personally placed by Rob Speyer in the AG COO job in the countries largest AG office.

Here the newly elected A G thanks Rob Speyer for staffing his office with Chief Operating Officer as he tells notoriously rent-stabilizing hating Bill Rudin's ABNY I am one of you then with eternal gratitude thanks Rob Speyer for hand selecting the A G Office Chief Operating Officer to oversee all AG operations(approx. 7:45 mark) It shocks the senses.

"I don't know if Rob Speyer is here but I actually stole her from him and I am eternally grateful for his public service in this area"

NYC is a mess because it is run by inexperienced people getting coveted Public Service positions to be order takers by Speyers to carry out private corporation's plans by misusing and abusing power of Public Offices. The proof is in the results: corporations get richer - the public gets poorer, pushed out, killed off.

Rob Speyer won because he runs every elected office and will continue until someone in a position of authority has a shred of integrity to tell Speyer the elected offices belong to the Public and not to the Speyer family.

Real Estate rules and runs all current NY elected offices to suit their objectives and profits. When the highest legal office in state declares themselves eternally grateful to Rob Speyer then StuyTown tenants especially rent stabilized tenants have no protections from their landlord abuses.

The AG was supposed to be neutral, unbiased, and represent the citizens by protecting the right of the citizens.

Let's let that sink in for a moment.
The AG is "eternally grateful" to Rob Speyer.

Looks like Sabina got called out in the T&V blog about the T&V's ignoring of its story on the hockey stick attack. It's obvious that management, Dan, the TA, and T&V are all involved in the cover up.

I will continue to bring it up until someone says something. This community needs someone like Preet to come in and expose everyone for the shady and seemingly illegal things going on here.

2010 was a big year for Tishman Speyer. A COO in the AG office; a phony walk-away from the Stuyvesant Town Peter Cooper Village property to get out of mortgage obligations; a "special servicer" continues Rob Speyer's aggressive plans for clearing out tenants, trees and single family units for dorms; and the Airbnb listings begin advertising in 2010; followed by Dan Garodnick partnering Brookfield with the Tenant association and hiring the AG's best friend at Dan Garodnick's alum firm Paul Weiss to continue ALL the projects begun in 2010 by Rob Speyer.
