Tenants Meet on 2-4, Saturday, September 29th - NEW LOCATION!

This is to notify tenants of Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village that there will be a meeting this Saturday, the 29th of September, from 2pm to 4pm, at a new location: the MSBI Bernstein Pavilion, Podell Auditorium, 10 Nathan D. Perlman Pl. between 15 and 16th Streets. The location is one block west of 1st Avenue. Though it will be hosted by the TA and have as many politicians as possible (bring good cheer and a working BS meter), I will try to be there. Since it is a new location, chances are that a number of tenants will not go there (Perlman Place?), but this may be the only chance to "meet" some of the representatives of you, the residents of this community.

To get you into the mood, I am posting two photos I took just yesterday. Uncovered mattresses. Two different locations. As you see, Management doesn't care.

I for one will not bother to go to that charade of a TA meeting. No desire to see the politicians up there ignoring the QOL here. I can read about the L train problems in the newspaper. This TA should be disbanded. We need a town meeting which confronts Hayduk and company with the nasty things going on here, not another political pep rally.

Anonymous said...

Just got that stupid e-mail from Hayduk on dogs and residents coexisting. What a joke. And the nerve of him to say that they care about the QOL here. They can put out all this crap but do not enforce anything.

Anonymous said...

Will anyone have the balls to ask Susan "Just Ask Rick" Steinberg to open up the books for the clearly corrupt and dishonest phony Tenants Association?

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>another political pep rally.<<

I fully expect that. After all, Maloney will be there and that is all she talks about.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>Will anyone have the balls to ask Susan "Just Ask Rick" Steinberg to open up the books for the clearly corrupt and dishonest phony Tenants Association?<<

One never knows.

The Property should be fined for every unwrapped mattress that is dumped outside. It is a violation of Public Health laws.

Rick should stick with resort and entertainment management; he is not qualified to manage a residential property, no matter how nice a guy he is. We need somebody who will run the property as it should be run.

I won't be going to the meeting because it is just more smoke and mirrors and I certainly do not want to endure a speech from Carolyn Maloney!

Anonymous said...

As long as Blackstone owns this property, we will not have a decent manager. This is what they want. A transient community with no attention to who they rent to or the QOL of the property. Hayduk is indeed a phony but any manager that they put in would be the same.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Rick could, if he wanted to, clean up the loops, but he doesn't want to--or rather, it is not cost efficient for him to do so. The fines the city imposes can easily be paid by Blackstone, but the city also has to "catch" these uncovered mattresses. Things will not change unless a good number of tenants will not only complain, but be visible about their complaint. Few care.

Anonymous said...

When they announced that you could dump anywhere on the loop, this caused the increase in dirty mattresses and garbage. It was the worst thing they could have done. As a result the dumping is out of control. They could care less as could some residents as was stated earlier.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

The transients and students here couldn't care. Why should they? This is not their home, only a temporary place to lay one's head.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

The new letter from Rick is a joke. More regulations, none of which are enforced or enforced very spottily. "But, STR, we really, really mean it this time!"

Sure.

Anonymous said...

I noticed that feeding the squirrels and birds is going to be outlawed come next Spring. Well, considering how well they enforce the rules here, I would say the critters and birds have nothing to worry about whatsoever!

Anonymous said...

Midnight furniture dumpings are just a symptom of the problem.

Blackstone actively markets former PCVST residential apartments converted into chopped up dormitory quarters lodging the exploding number of transients temporarily cramming themselves into cubbyholes hacked into what used to be PCVST living rooms.

The furniture dump locations are provided by Blackstone as a convenience to accommodate the gypsy lifestyle. Otherwise, PCVST residents would be constantly tripping over furniture dumped randomly everywhere - hallways, stairwells, lobbies, elevators, etc.

Don't blame Just Call Rick doing his job.

BLACKSTONE SUCKS

How much longer do we have to endure loud music from 5 turd cafe? Till the first snowflake falls? Getting louder every Friday! Enough already!

I'd like to see them enforce that. Enforcement is currently and conveniently left out.

I’ve seen it all now. A group of local Stuytown kids were playing around the oval this evening. One of the overly aggressive delivery drivers almost hits not one but two children. A parent of one of the kids playing loses his mind. ( I really think modern parents are annoying and a bit overprotective but in this case, they were right.) The driver became aggressive with the parents and was led to security. When I asked one of the parents what had happened, he said the guy admitted to riding his bike and almost hitting the kids. Apparently there was no ticket or warning given!!! The guard actually threw it back at the families/residents. The dad was protecting the kids and the guard did ZERO. How can a guard that is paid thru our rent not protect our residents especially our small ones?!, i am very disturbed by this and not sure what the point is anymore to having a security team when they can’t/won’t/don’t enforce anything. Yes, I will write an email to the management but I see by reading this blog, It won’t matter. Thanks for letting me speak my mind. In all the years I’ve lived here, I’ve never felt this unhappy about where I live.

Sad to say, but a lot of PS "officers" are not trained expertly nor given instructions on the "rules" and what to do with those rules, unless it is to downplay.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>STR are there any rules that you see currently enforced? I see nothing enforced on any level. Does anyone see anything being addressed? Slum<<

Occasionally, I see something enforced, but almost all the time it has to do with a pedaling bike around that Oval that is very near a PS officer. Once in a blue moon, I see a PS officer (a new one, of course) talking to a dog owner without an official lanyard. Otherwise, nothing.

I think we should all join together in a lawsuit against Management for not letting "Public Safety" do their job. We may just as well have no "Public Safety" and have the charges taken off our rent. Management is so terrified of lawsuits being initiated by people who are taken to task by "Public Safety" on the rare occasion when they actually do their job. Maybe we should turn the tables and force Management to provide the protection we are paying for. Of course, if we had a tenants association (isn't that a novel idea?) we would have a unified voice to speak on our behalf. We would pay dues with confidence that the tenant association would do what a tenants association is supposed to do. Sadly, we don't have a tenants association. Shame.

8 25 wow you are right. how can this be? what guard? what location? who was riding bike? id like to make a huge deal out of this too as it comes close to hurting someone too often here. We are quite sick of this dangerous place that we pay 2 much to live in.

The Security Officers: I've written it before and here goes:

BLACKSTONE'S REPRESENTATIVES HERE ("MANAGEMENT," LAWYERS, et al.) HAVE SPECIFICALLY INSTRUCTED SECURITY TO DO NOTHING.

Whether or not you were a fan of our former Security Chief, Bill McClellan, it is a fact that he was harassed, marginalized and abused by Blackstone and was ordered and rendered UNABLE TO DO THE JOB OF A SECURITY FORCE CHIEF. THAT is the reason he isn't here.

It has become so much worse since then.

WITHIN THIS LAST WEEK, I WAS ONCE MORE EXPLICITLY TOLD BY A PERSON VERY HIGH IN THE CHAIN OF COMMAND:

WE CANNOT DO ANYTHING.

Do the people reading this UNDERSTAND SIMPLE ENGLISH???

BLACKSTONE'S BASTARDS HERE HAVE ORDERED SECURITY TO IGNORE EVERY INFRACTION, DANGER, ETC.

I came back from the TA meeting at that new location. The inside was much smaller and not all the seats were taken. The meeting consisted mostly (2-3:40) of politicians doing there thing. 3 couldn't help but "mention" the hearings in Washington. A bit of the info that was given was valuable. From Management, Rick and Fred were there, and maybe someone else (the head of PS?). They were sitting together and off to the side.

The Q and A? Some good, some bitching (mostly about the L line).

A general waste of time, but I knew it beforehand.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Oh, and the buses to Albany were mentioned. Many times.

Did any questioners bring up the noisy events or garbage dumping? I reckon not. Knew it would not be productive

If we had a TA, they would challenge the MCI we pay for the "upgraded" Security. We have no Security. We are paying for something we are not getting. Blackstone is definitely worse than TS.

">>The guard actually threw it back at the families/residents. The dad was protecting the kids and the guard did ZERO.<<"

The dad should have called the NYPD. We have the right to be protected by the REAL police. I think the dad should also file a formal complaint about the Security Officer because Blackstone pays those guys to protect us. If somebody gets hurt because of the lack of action by a Security Officer, Blackstone should be sued. We pay for that protection. It is incorporated in our rent and we are paying for some so-called "state of the art" security. Bullshit!

I hate to tell you this, but there was a police rep from the 13th at the TA meeting, and he remarked twice about the positive relationship he has with PS. If you are looking for a REAL police force here, forget about it. (Though he did mention that the 13th will be covering all neighborhoods more in the old-fashioned way, but it was unclear just how they would do it with PS.)

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>Did any questioners bring up the noisy events or garbage dumping?<<

General noise was brought up, but not the events. There was mention of the garbage dumping, but it appears that nothing was positively stated by the politicians or the TA on this issue. The TA, in particular, seemed to want to avoid the issue and just be friends with Management. Our dear TA leader, Susan, even glowingly mentioned how she had been a witness to two outsiders with dogs escorted out of our community. Escorted. Which is far different than being told by PS that the dogs can't be here. If she doens't run away from me when I see her, I will ask her about "escorting."

We couldn't be less protected than we are with these do-nothing sleazy Dems. Keith Powers is a prime example. A former member of the TA Board and up the asses of REBNY as far as he can get. Garodnick was a total liar, fraud and con man and the Powers weisel is cut from the same cloth.

STAND UP AND FIGHT! said...

I did not go to the dog and pony show this afternoon because there would have been some very real, tangible trouble had I listened to even five minutes of bullshit.

When I was working for one of NYC's largest Departments, the Board of Education, while Michael Bloomberg and his hundreds of sycophants (including dozens and perhaps hundreds of lawyers he put on payroll) were systematically destroying it, and people commented often that he was HURTING people (e.g., teachers, students, neighborhoods, other school employees, EDUCATION itself), I began asking my colleagues and others: WHAT IS THE OBJECTIVE?

Hint: The objective was NOT to educate, inform, guide, help children. It was to DESTROY EDUCATION, ELIMINATE KNOWLEDGE, TURN OUT PEOPLE UNABLE TO READ, WRITE, THINK, ORGANIZE, PROTEST, RESIST THE EFFORTS OF THEIR "LEADERS" TO IMPOVERISH THEM AND ENSLAVE THEM.

It was to hand over lives to "entrepreneurs" in order to economically enrich the rich, cede all control of life to a tiny group of incredibly sick, morally bankrupt predators.

SAME THING WITH "REAL ESTATE:" BLACKSTONE IS A COLLECTION OF PROBABLY TERMINALLY DISEASED HUMANS, WHO, IN COMMON WITH MANY OTHERS OF THE SAME ILK, IS INTENT ON MAKING LOTS OF MONEY, EXERTING MALIGNANT CONTROL OVER THOUSANDS OF OTHER PEOPLE AND OTHER CREATURES.

Therefore, among many, many other logical conclusions: BLACKSTONE DID NOT HIRE PEOPLE TO PERFORM THE TASKS OF SECURITY AGENT. BLACKSTONE RELUCTANTLY HIRED THEM TO DUPE PEOPLE, CAJOLE PEOPLE, CAUSE MORE HELL HERE BY IGNORING THE LEGITIMATE NEEDS OF RESIDENTS. BLACKSTONE HIRED THESE HAPLESS FOLKS TO LORD OVER THEIR EMPLOYEES AND TERRORIZE THEM, TOO.

I am truly sorry if anyone reading this finds it a bit extreme. It is the truth. This writer has been through it with too many institutions such as Blackstone to misunderstand precisely what is happening. I have personally experienced and witnessed the extreme damage humans such as Blackstone's company people have deliberately and sometimes gleefully inflicted upon their fellow humans.

I've been exhorting residents and others, and pleading with them, for some time now, "Open your eyes, your ears, your mind and accept reality." And then,

STAND UP AND FIGHT and if you wish to do so, please e-mail me at: quietenjoymentnow@gmail.com

Of course, there was no mention of the failure of the TA in holding a protest at the leasing office and urging tenants to put up that yellow "Community" sign on the tenants' window. Stuy Town Reporter said...

I believe so, but I can't be certain, as I was off on the other side.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Just to make this clear. Rick and Company were sitting off the side. They were sitting together. Only once did Rick come to the microphone and speak. This was in response to the electrical fire that started and the question of how secure we are in our buildings. Yeah, there was note taking, but aside from this brief and only episode there was no other response that I could see from Rick and Company. As far as note taking, there is a lot of that on display. Even at those Oval Office meetings. But so what? It is action I am interested in, and not BS talk, which at this point only angers and insults me.

I also must correct an impression that is left on the TA blog. While I never heard a word from CW that I know of, I did hear from Adam Rose (not the TA blog Rose). Not only did he respond to emails but he actually had a Q and A here, on this blog. The real difference I see, aside from beach chairs and a new fence around the Oval, is more loops occupied by thrown-out furniture, more dog crap, and a PS force that is just meant for show--and our manager living in Peter Cooper.

Anonymous said...

Sign says oval playground closes at dusk. It is dark out and people still lounging on blankets. Surely security can see it is past dusk and do something. Bad enough the rink construction noise going to start soon and go all day and as usual illegally past dark...and then the rink ruins life for all that live around it all over again.

Anonymous said...

There has been a big difference in garbage on the loop. Never saw it on such a large scale. Yesterday the Oval was empty of people and revelers. Not sure why, but it looked wonderful without the picnickers and sunbathers. So clean and pristine.

Anonymous said...

"and our manager living in Peter Cooper."

We have a manager? Who knew! He/she sure doesn't manage much, apart from managing to let this place go to hell.

Anonymous said...

Received an email from StyLiving recently. They are going to ban feeding squirrels and birds. When they stop dumping shitty mattresses and other dreck all over the place, I'll stop feeding the squirrels and birds. They never focus on the real issues! It's all distraction and wrong priorities. They never enforce rules, but keep on coming up with more and more rules, none of which is ever enforced. I've had it with taking any notice of the edicts of this poor apology of a management. They should just collect the rent and shut up. They don't manage anything, they just use bread and circus tactics to try and distract us from what a shitshow the property is.

wE had a few problems when Adam rose was here. He called us back and handled it himself. Reasonable and hard working. This dude rick passes every complaint and issue on to someone else. Total hack. Move back to Florida Rick. Please.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

They don't even need those monitors that we will pay for till our death. The infractions, and not just outside on the Oval grass, can be right outside their door. They don't see. Yeah.

The backlash on the TA meeting has been good. There are also people talking on the Tenants (not TA) page about “Peter Stuyvesant” blocking posts from going through. People on the TA page are talking about the politicization of the meeting, and how it has no place at a meeting regarding the well-being of tenants on this property.

This is no longer a tenants association. Unfortunately it’s become a left-wing political group using the guise of being advocates for tenants(and I’m a Democrat). If you look at the things they post and talk about, EVERYTHING has a political undertone to it.

Why can’t they post on noise? Cleanliness? Bedbugs? Crime?

I’m sick and tired of this group being nothing more than political tools used by Democrats (my party) to praise themselves to try and get votes. That is not what you are here for.

And to those of you own the board who read this blog and do nothing - shame on you. You are the problem, and you should be ashamed to show your face on this property. Maybe we should start heckling you when we see you around the property or at establishments around the property? Oh wait, it’s only Republicans that can have that done to them...

Anonymous said...

@8:59 AM - I totally agree. The TA meetings are nothing short of political rallies. I'm a Dem, but I have no fondness for the current bunch of opportunists who are supposed to be representing us. Wouldn't give them the time of day, never mind a vote. Nonetheless, the TA has become a glee club for those pols and the issues facing tenants who live in this dump seem to totally elude the TA. We need a new TA or none at all because the current one is just NOT a TA any longer.

Nada. Nothing. No fight, no resistance.

There is some essential quality in humans these days which has rendered us passive, even while we are being grievously and sometimes lethally injured by other people.

WHY DO MOST OF US SIT QUIETLY IN MEETINGS SUCH AS THE LAST MEETING WITH THE THIEVES AND PREDATORS? IF MORE OF US HAD GONE AND LITERALLY STOOD UP AND DEMANDED THAT THE SH*T STOP, and

IF WE TOOK ACTION, TOGETHER, UNITED, ON A REGULAR BASIS . . .

This is all reported in the press. This is why our quality of life is crap. The only way to get them to pay for destroying us to to get them to pay for their cheating and stealing from us in the rent practices that are illegal.

Money is the only thing they care about. That is why they lie, cheat, steal and hoard. Let's get our money back.

What is happening in Stuyvesant Town Peter Cooper Village is happening at all yacht destinations for the new Louis Vuitton Bernard Arnault, Mike Bloomberg, Larry Ellison yacht race route.

To understand what is happening in the East and West Village of NYC you need only see this:

St Tropez and Bernard Arnault
'LVMH city': St Tropez residents fear town is being turned into giant boutique

France's "king of luxury", the world's 10th wealthiest individual, with a net worth of $29 billion (£18.6 billion), according to Forbes, has spent two decades swallowing grand, family-owned brands.
"Bernard Arnault started by buying a small building where he set up a Dior boutique. And ever since, he buys everything that moves," David Belity, a local shopkeeper, told Le Parisien. "It's going to turn into a little Monaco, a showcase for his luxury development."

The tycoon has gradually fanned out, installing Vuitton and Bulgari stores in the Garonne square. He recently acquired a local restaurant, turning it into a Sephora cosmetics store.

In the Place des Lices, a favourite spot of local boules players, he spent 22 million euros (£19 million) on a hotel, transforming it into the four-star Hotel White 1921 with suites at 990 euros per night. The establishment is right next to his Fendi and Celine fashion and leather stores.

With the billionaire reportedly having even grander designs on a string of luxury properties, graffiti artists last year replaced St Tropez with "LVMH City" on one town sign last year.

Police quickly took the sign down, but the sign reflected a malaise among some who argue he is killing St Tropez's bohemian side and turning it into a giant designer store with the blessing of the mayor, Jean-Pierre Tuvéri.

"Bernard Arnault's group is taking advantage of the current mayor's policy of giving property developers and private investors free reign," complained Dominique Bonnet, president of the St-Tropez Our Village association.

deBlasio wants higher offices so he is selling out NYC. Bloomberg wants a yacht race route for his yachty pals Larry Ellison and Louis Vuitton Bernard Arnault.

This is the real reason for the dock here and for the historically high level of corruption at the 12 years of Bloomberg administration followed by even more corruption at the going on 5 years of the deBlasio administration. The corruption and destruction of small businesses and locals by Mayors in New York is the same as all the destinations on the Larry Ellison Mike Bloomberg Bernard Arnault Louis Vuitton New Yacht Race.

deBlasio gives property developers and private investors free reign just like mayors at the other yachty ports even St Tropez. deBlasio's corruption is at historic levels with his lobbyist pals at Hilltop and Capalino making millions. The City council is fed up with a mayor who has over 150 secretive meetings with lobbyists. deBlasio took Bloomberg's destruction even farther, and come thing deBlasio took it too far. There is no more corrupt mayor in the world or in history then the Bloomberg - deBlasio terms.

In New York and especially the East and West Village, Mike Bloomberg and Bill deBlasio are pushing out the small businesses and locals for the billionaires and for deBlasio's millionaire lobbyist clients who are creating a second "world class" yacht race route. They are buying up all of the waterfront from St Tropez to New York and pushing out all of the locals and small businesses.

Anonymous said...

Yachty Bernard Arnault is turning St Tropez into a Louis Vuitton Strip Mall just like Mike Bloomberg is ridding of all the small businesses and locals in New York and turning it into a playground for billionaires and their chain stores. Bernard Arnault tried to do to New York's West Village what he is doing to St Tropez but Marc Jacobs failed brilliantly and shut all but one of the storefronts. Marc Jacobs was destroying Greenwich Village for billionaires Bernard Arnault Louis Vuitton, Mike Bloomberg, Barry Diller and their little yachty clique.

Peter Cooper Village Stuyvesant Town has a dock for the billionaire's yacht races courtesy of the city council and mayor. I

In 2013 during Mike Bloomberg's illegal third term he bought for himself so he can complete his pal's plans for their yacht races which includes a New York City race. Louis Vuitton, owner Bernard Arnault and Larry Ellison rule the America's Cup and are creating a second "World Class" version of the race.

They will lie, cheat, steal to make their yacht race route happen. Larry Ellison even got caught cheating at racing.

Louis Vuitton's Bernard Arnault is ruining St Tropez, clearing out small businesses and locals replacing them with his chain stores. Just like Mike Bloomberg rid New York of small businesses and those who owned, shopped there, the locals. Mike Bloomberg pushes us out of just like his yachty pal Bernard Arnault pushes out small businesses and locals in St Tropez.

They lie. They cheat. They steal.

We have had a washer that has been broken in our laundry room for over 2 years. Same one. I've spoken to management, the company that maintains the washers and even went to the stuy town booth set up in the oval to give feedback. What more can I do?
Its beyond frustrating as the maintenance guy for the washing company will be in the laundry room and plug it in then leave. It looks like its working but it won't, it needs to be replaced. I'm tired of trying to explain this to him.
Does anyone have any advice to get help with this? There are 2 other machines not working now. I know Stuy Town doesn't care but am I out of patience and options.

I agree with the posters who are frustrated with life here, but without a viable TA which of course we do not have, there is little that we can really do to change things. There is plenty we can do.

Civil disobedience. Publicity.

Rent strikes, pickets, letters, e-mails, bombarding all media outlets.

It is even worse than we know or think.

There are MILLIONS of miserable, exhausted, terrified/terrorized people courtesy of the type of common MONSTERS Blackstone assholes personify.

Strike that! There are BILLIONS of us on this poor plundered planet.

BILLIONS MORE OF US THAN THE SICK INDIVIDUALS WHO HURT US AND EVERYTHING THAT LIVES.

WE CAN DAMN DO WELL PLENTY.

Please state your building and floor for a response and report this to PS and they'll come over and if verified issue a lease violation. I did this to my very inconsiderate neighbor who got 3 lease violations and decided to move!!

The TA's last gasp was to try a protest, 1) outside the leasing office 2) having residents put that yellow placard at their window.

Both failed. Very, very low numbers.

And that is the story. Few care. That is the harsh and ugly but very true analysis. And Management knows this.

My attempt is just to show, though photos, what is happening here. A few others have photos, videos, etc. It is something and ultimately goes against the "sell" that Management is only focused on. Our TA should be against these infractions, but they are doing little, except those buses to Albany.

I just saw this in the NYPost (online). Very, very tragic. It's very possible that he was a resident here. What is it with these NYU kids that they are so desperate that they end their lives? I realize that mental illness is on the rise among young people, but I can't help wondering why? At 18 your life is ahead of you. I hope that there will be more outreach to these kids who suffer from suicidal depression. I hope and pray that this doesn't happen again.

Oh! This explains why Fortress Compass Rock padded the market rate apartment renovations!

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/10/02/us/politics/donald-trump-tax-schemes-fred-trump.html

Anonymous said...

Here it is. Chances are the statute of limitations has not run out on us yet

As an owner of rent-stabilized buildings in New York, Fred Trump needed state approval to raise rents beyond the annual increases set by a government board. One way to justify a rent increase was to make a major capital improvement. It did not take much to get approval; an invoice or canceled check would do if the expense seemed reasonable.

The Trumps used the padded All County invoices to justify higher rent increases in Fred Trump’s rent-regulated buildings. Fred Trump, according to Mr. Walter, saw All County as a way to have his cake and eat it, too. If he used his “expert negotiating ability” to buy a $350 refrigerator for $200, he could raise the rent based only on that $200, not on the $350 sticker price “a normal person” would pay, Mr. Walter explained. All County was the way around this problem. “You have to understand the thinking that went behind this,” he said.

As Robert Trump acknowledged in his deposition, “The higher the markup would be, the higher the rent that might be charged.”

State records show that after All County’s creation, the Trumps got approval to raise rents on thousands of apartments by claiming more than $30 million in major capital improvements. Tenants repeatedly protested the increases, almost always to no avail, the records show.

One of the improvements most often cited by the Trumps: new boilers.

“All of this smells like a crime,” said Adam S. Kaufmann, a former chief of investigations for the Manhattan district attorney’s office who is now a partner at the law firm Lewis Baach Kaufmann Middlemiss. While the statute of limitations has long since lapsed, Mr. Kaufmann said the Trumps’ use of All County would have warranted investigation for defrauding tenants, tax fraud and filing false documents.

I think that Blackstone is deliberately letting the property deteriorate. I have no idea why. I think that Hayduk is inept and uninterested in his job here. He really gives me the impression of a guy who couldn't care less. What the motive behind all this, who knows? I just know that the attitude of "Management" is contagious. At this point, I couldn't care less about anything that happens here. Maybe it all reflects the general state of the "leadership" of the country: a president who is an over-the-top Archie Bunker on Steroids; an attitude from the top down of disdain and disrespect of women and anybody not in the oligarch class; a disrespect for all persons who have disabilities; disadvantages and who are not cookie-cutter examples of what these "superior breed" deems acceptable. I think that, notwithstanding the enormous strides and achievements in science and technology, our country is on a downward spiral to hell. It's ok if a Supreme Court Judge is a lisensious drunk (or, in the case of "Justice" Thomas, likes pornographic material that involves animals) or the Leader of the Senate is as sinister and evil as anyone could be and that basically Putin is our so-called president's idea of a wet dream.

I rest my case. Just live for today because tomorrow may be worse. No wonder 18-year olds are killing themselves.

First I heard that it was illegal. The problem was if you got too close to the leasing door.

Ah, please refrain from posts that are at heart about what is happening outside of this community or the city in reference to what is happening here. Trust me, I know when people would want to talk about the White House, but there are other places were you can vent or debate. Not here.

I disagree with the statement that Rick Hayduk is inept. He is just what Blackstone wants, a good PR man who schmoozes tenants. The company wants him to neglect the property. It is not his imitative or his negligence. It is a manager carrying through what his superiors want. It is not purposeful neglect but incidental neglect through renting to a low life demo and then letting it slide and deteriorate.

Anonymous said...

The issue here is simple cause and effect. You can’t rent the ever increasing market rate apartments, so you fill them with crap such as students, transients, city subsidized and Airbnb. You lose control over the property and just proceed. The property continues to deteriorate as you lose track of leases and renters.

Anonymous said...

This morning seen out my window. A dog off the leash. Saw one yesterday leaving my building. Sick of the barking.

Alas the apathy of the tenents is so saddening.

Perhaps this is true. However, if the guy was smarter he would realize he is sealing his fate should he ever need another job down the road. Everyone in the property management business knows how bad he is and wouldn't ever hire him. Same goes for the bulk of the people at Beam Living. My company has received resumes from some of his staff and we immediately throw them out.

Concerning that tenement building that burned down last night, injuring many tenants and firefighters and leaving hundreds of people homeless: Does anybody know who owned it and what developer might have his greedy eyes on the site? There have been several tenement buildings burned down or blown up (accidently, of course!) over the past few years. All here in Manhattan, and in places where developers are just itching like a crotch full of crabs to get their fangs into in order to evict tenants and build luxury condos. Makes me wonder. I'd like to know who those landlords and developers are and which politicians are owned by them.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

I have photos taken yesterday. As far as I know, one couldn't travel up 1st Avenue near the site by car (or bus?). As to the question above, I am waiting to see what we will get over there.... If it's a massive condo, we know the deal....

Anonymous said...

I would like to know what started the fire. Developers, tenement owners (who are sometimes the developers themselves) have been known to burn their buildings down to get low-rent tenants out, free up the site and, of course, collect insurance. People have burned to death, been horribly injured, lost every last thing they own (including pets) and it has been as the result of arson committed by the vile thugs known as developers and landlords. Never forget that the politicians who are owned by this satanic scum are just as guilty.

I find it appalling that my sons apartment went from 3800 to 4100 at renewal. Stuytown and Rick fully know that similar if not better units renting for 3700 or less. Shame on these assholes.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Blackstone waits. When the first lease is over (catching the unsuspected new renter), Blackstone can charge up to the legal rent, which in a lot of these apartments is not "affordable." The "law" allows them to charge up to the base rent, not the preferential rent. Only old-timers have true rent stabilization.

Anonymous said...

That is the problem here. For the rents they charge, people can live in nicer buildings with real amenities. They have to and want to fill the apartments with students, transients, and city subsidies. That way they can get any rents they want. As a result, we live in a transient, filthy community.

EAST VILLAGE, Manhattan (WABC) -- Police are searching for the suspect who followed a woman into an elevator and attacked in Manhattan.

The sexual assault happened in an elevator Monday at 8 a.m. in a building in Stuyvesant Town near East 20th and Avenue C. 315 AVE C.

Police released surveillance video showing the man they are trying to find.

It shows him walking into an apartment building.

You need a card to gain access to the lobby, but they say he "piggy backed" on a resident and walked in after someone else unlocked the door.

Now there is sign warning neighbors about what happened.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, followed a woman into the elevator where he groped and kissed her.

She tried to get away.

She says he tried to pull her into the stairwell, where he got on top of her and choked her.
When she screamed, she says he ran off.

The victim suffered scratches to her neck and was treated at Bellevue Hospital.

This complex has a lot of security, but that hasn't stopped a couple of similar incidents from happening in recent years.

Residents are being warned to be on alert and remember the cardinal rule: never hold the door open for anyone you don't know.

"You got to watch out who you let in, you know?" neighbor Mark Lekocaj told Eyewitness News. "You never know who's behind you. So I always try to explain that to people, and I always watch my surroundings as well."

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).

"The complex has a lot of security ...." Who knew? Lot of cameras, but not much manpower. There are more cameras than there are security officers, so it's not possible to man all of those cameras (even if several are watched by one person) and have enough boots on the ground. When word gets around about how UNSAFE this dump is maybe idiots will stop paying top dollar to live in a bottom-level dump.

Anonymous said...

The above incident further shows why doormen are a true amenity, not these crappy movies and concerts they pass on as amenities.
