Stuyvesant Town - The New Fun House

Dear Residents, or can I say, dear friends, because I feel we are friends after a few years of getting to know each other. As you know, Blackheart, the company, wishes to cheer you and yours with a Happy Holiday Season. But that is only one of my goals here. The other is to inform you that we will be officially changing our name to Fun House. You may have seen the large smiley face atop one of our playgrounds, you certainly can't help seeing the various signs that wish you a "great day" as you leave this complex. (Hopefully, not feet first--ha, ha. That is a joke.) You have seen our vigilant Public Safety force charming you with a pleasant hello and a friendly smile. And, for this holiday season, we have installed, at great expense, several hanging egg chairs for the enjoyment of residents. And more fun to come!

So we figured why not rename Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village to Fun House? Because that's what we are all about--fun!

Truthfully, we have gotten an undeserved bad reputation. People even say we have become a dorm and are just interested in money, money, money. Not so! Everything is done for you, our dear residents.

So one more "rule"--ha, ha. Fun House will be the official name come January 1st. So no more Stuy Town or Peter Cooper.  (Historically, Peter Stuyvesant was a virulent racist, besides). Remember: Fun House.

Yours truly,

Rick Heyduck
CEO & General Manager of Fun House

c/o Stuyvesant Town - Peter Cooper Village Tenants Association

P.S. Don't forget your Rent Checks!

What happened to the cushions on those new Egg Chairs during the storm yesterday? Are said chairs out on the nearest loop for bulk trash disposal already?
In any event, sooner or later, they will be used as handy outdoor toilets by vagrants, dogs (with or without lanyards), and/or maybe other 'wildlife'. Plus, whoever came up with this brilliant 'amenity' will be getting a big Christmas Bonus as their reward!

They come up with the stupidest ideas imaginable!

Folks, seriously, Folks, you don't think we are dealing with intelligence do you? Look at the people who "run" this place and the guy in charge and you will see the answer to that question.

I gotta feeling you could use Officer Joe's nightstick.

Anonymous said...

This is really brilliant and extremely funny!! I love that someone put this on the classless TA Faceplant page.

PS or Piece of Shite is worthless. At times, I feel more exposed and at risk with a fake security force.

The egg drop chairs will last about 5 minutes with the garbage pail kids that Blackheart crams in the dorms. Garbage

I’ve got an ideA. Let put signs in the lobby that admonish people for smoking. That way we don’t have to do anything to actually enforce “our” rules.

Disgusting

ATTENTION ALL:
Heretofore Rick's little insults to the Community have been referred to as "Oval Amenities".
That is far too kind.
Hereafter and forever forward they shall now be known as "Oval Atrocities".
THAT IS ALL.

Response: The New Fun House helps keep its employees busy, productive and happy. Of course, happy, because being happy is such fun!

Example: Once the unexpectedly ferocious storm of wind, snow, rain and sleet began early yesterday afternoon, one of its HAPPY employees (from the Concierge) was out on the Oval Study, cavorting in the wind and rain and sleet and snow as she gathered up each exquisite ugly-green cushion out of its dear egg to store in some appointed place.

Remember: idle hands are the devil's workshop. Also, "work makes men (sic) free."

And as an added bonus: another jackass "father" had his kids running around today in snow and mud on the LOCKED/CLOSED Oval. Of course, the probably expensive and utterly asinine corral, paddock (new "fencing") invites lazy and scofflaw cretins of all ages, IQ's, addresses, and physical health to simply invade the Oval at all hours of every day of the year.

Such FUN!

What the F is going on?

Some of the posters here keep knocking Rick as incompetent, but he sure has a lot of residents snowed under with these foolish so called amenities as exemplified by that hideous TA cheering post. They claim to love this crap. A good PR man he is and that is what Blackstone wants.

Can you delete this comment . The quote this insensitive commentator uses was used on the entrance gate to Aushwitz. INCREDIBLY STUPID

Stuy Town Reporter said...

What quote?

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Okay, I think you mean that "work" quote. I seriously doubt, very seriously, that it was used not ironically.

Anonymous said...

Totally insensitive. What if it was a quote that had racist or sexual origins? Somehow I think your position would be different. And how can you discern the intent of the writer?

Anonymous said...

Contact your TA . LOL

10:33 AM:

I apologize if I offended you. I am Jewish, older, and lost family in Nazi Germany. Other family members were treated to regular programs in Eastern Europe.

So . . . I am aware of some of the freight it carries.

AND, please read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arbeit_macht_frei for some back ground.

That phrase has been used in other contexts, since then, to indict employers who were persecuting, tormenting, and ultimately causing not only destruction of families, but illnesses and deaths of their employees. Please request details if you doubt this.

AND: Blackstone is directly and deliberately responsible for the suffering and death of many hundreds, and more like thousands, of living beings, as I've written here before.

This writer and Stuyvesant Town long-time resident will admit to many failings, but "insensitive" is not one of them. Again: apologies.

Seriously speaking, I think a lot of our parents or grandparents had close, if not tragic, contact with the Nazis. And, yes, with death camps. Though I don't want to get into personal history, that includes me. I didn't think the quote was AT ALL agreeing with what happened, and the writer may have his or her own tragic history. You made a statement that it was insensitive and stupid to bring this up. I wouldn't have done it myself, but the commentator wanted to make a point and underline it. (Have you made a similar statement over at the TA about the name of "Peter Stuyvesant" or the name of the complex? Not saying that death camps and Peter Stuyvesant's history toward Jews are the same, but there can be outrage.) Though I have thought about the usage, I believe that it is up to the writer to modify or delete his or her statement.

De Blasio just pulled a Trump move at nearly the same time by firing the chief person who is the watchdog for misconduct by De Blasio and Trump, Mark Peters and Jeff Sessions respectively. Makes you wonder what other things these two have in common that they are both scrambling to keep covered up. De Blasio's Tammany Hall II tops Tammany Hall I by tenfold.

There can be outrage about pretty much anything, particularly these days . But the Holocaust and the Nazis are in a different category than any thing else at least in recent history. And yes Peter Stuyvesant was an anti Semite but it is impossible to even remotely equate him to the Nazis. Perhaps the writer didn’t know the meaning of what he or she wrote ( which I find difficult to believe) but he or she should delete or edit the comment

Anonymous said...

I had to google what slogan was over the gates of Auschwitz and had no idea that it was "Work Sets You Free."

Whether intentionally referring to the place or not, it probably is a very inappropriate remark and could seriously offend some folk who know where it originated. In fact, now that I know where it originated, I am offended. I am not Jewish. You don't have to be Jewish to be offended by any humorous reference to the Death Camps.

I believe the writer addressed his/her this issue directly above me, as I was writing mine.

I will challenge you, however, on the "Peter Stuyvesant" statement. As I expressly stated, I do not say that Stuyvesant equals the Holocaust. But I did say that using that name for this complex or as a ID on Facebook can be problematic because, as we know now, Peter Stuyvesant was a racist who did not want Jews in New York, among other things. My question still stands (and I repeat, it does NOT have anything to do with the Holocaust). Have you challenged the use of Peter Stuyvesant for this complex and as an ID for our TA Facebook?

Anonymous said...

No I haven’t but our complex was named after him . If you are really that offended by the use of his name , why do you live here? And the writer while apologizing seems to equate Blackstone to the Nazis !!! Huh! They are a bunch or rich and Uber rich people but to assert that they are responsible for the death of thousands thereby attempting to create some moral equivalency between Blackstone and the Nazis is OBSCENE!

Anonymous said...

To me, this is like people who refer to Trump as Hitler . I don’t like Trump and didn’t vote for him but my blood boils when I hear or read that comparison. Take a look at the pictures Eisenhower ordered our troops to take at the death camps after the end of WW 2. He did so because as he said that when people in the future deny or diminish the Holocaust these pictures would tell the truth . And they do

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>No I haven’t<<

I thought so. Not as sensitive as one would think.

As for Blackstone, I think I made my position clear. Like other companies, Blackstone is interested in profits and more profits. The people who work for Blackstone are made up of all sorts of people. Some are good company men and women, and do their job efficiently; some are middle of the road and okay. Some are dead weights. Just like any company.

There is no evidence that the writer of that post was making fun of the Holocaust. He or she even said so. As to this person's feeling about Blackstone, I disagree, but I'm not going to delete the post because of my disagreement.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>To me, this is like people who refer to Trump as Hitler . I don’t like Trump and didn’t vote for him but my blood boils when I hear or read that comparison.<<

Same here. It's a stupid opinion that ignores history and reality.

Anonymous said...

Of course I am much more sensitive about the Nazis than PS. I am also more sensitive about them that Ferdinand and Isabella , among the multitudes of anti Semites and killers of Jews over the last 2000 years. It is easy to understand that. Again, why do you live here if the name PS is anathema to you?
Finally I never wrote that the author of that post was " making fun of the Holocaust" . Rather he was making a cheap and highly inappropriate comparison just as are calling Trump (and before him GW Bush ) Hitler
Just for shame on the writer to write what he wrote and his half assed explanation and for shame that you are attempting to defend this by , among other things, my never having condemned Peter Stuyvesant

NOTHING TO DO WITH HITLER. OR TRUMP. OR NANCY KERRIGAN. OR THE WIZARD OF OZ.

Please stop conflating issues.

There are many ways to kill people. Slowly, over long periods of time by creating ongoing situations of stress and emotional pain, of terror regarding homelessness, inability to have health care, inability to be certain you (and your family) are going to be able to eat . . . depriving people of sleep for prolonged periods of time . . . and more . . .

I have personally, and repeatedly, observed people develop the killer diseases of cancer, heart disease and more. I have personally watched people develop diabetes, become crippled, lose their families, and their sanity . . . because people "in power" abused, harassed, tormented and terrorized them for prolonged periods of time.

My perspective is much broader and more inclusive where the behaviors of humans is involved, particularly involving people knowingly badly hurting each other and other forms of life.

It is a spectrum, and while I understand some of the vitriol here, I also ask that the angry folks here think long and hard about how human beings slowly erode and destroy the well-being of others.

I think Trump has the potential to be a Hitler. If he wasn't reigned in I think he would be a total despot because he is totally lacking in empathy and is mentally ill.

Schumer's conflicts of interest and cozy relationships get worse everyday. Schumer and Facebook have a long, very close, nearly familial relationship. The public is onto this career politician. It is only a matter of time before we see more politicians go the way of Sheldon Silver and Dean Skelos. Surely Schumer has reason to be shaking in his boots.

Hoping to shame someone is both predicable by now, and used far, far too often to get people to adjust to our view and make them think or feel as we do.

Maybe you don't know, but I don't play that game--at least when I'm fully awake.

Somehow we have veered off of my main point , ie, that the author of the post either deliberately or inadvertently quoted an obscene quote that appeared on the entrance gate to Auschwitz, that he then “ apologized “ but equated Blackstone to the Nazi murder of millions, including 6 million Jews, and that rather than you deleting the offensive message or telling the writer to do so , you deflect by reference to other things that don’t belong being uttered in a discussion of the true evil of the Nazis like Peter Stuyvesant’s anti Semitism over 300 years ago

Official. Peter Cooper tenants and another move out move in. Now our entire floor, except for us, is entirely made up of students.

The egg chairs are just another example of Management's stupidity. Who is the guy who Rick brought up from Resort World? The guy who put the Adirondak chairs on the Oval? Rick and that idiot are the WRONG people to be managing a residential property. We don't want stupid gimmicks and "entertainment;" we want heat, cleanliness and the ability to live in our homes in peace and safety without being harassed by noisy neighbors who party all night and/or don't put down carpets and have no concept of the fact that they are in an apartment that adjoins other apartments and are separated by thin walls and floors. People don't actually LIVE at resorts. They do live in apartments. They don't check in for a few days and then check out and go home. THIS IS HOME, Rick. It's clear that you just don't get it. We are not on a cruise. We are AT HOME. We wish you could get that.

Anonymous said...

Hello, I enjoy reading through your post. I wanted to write a little comment to support you.

Anonymous said...

Wheyier there so many people living in one bedrooms here / there is no maximum?????

Anonymous said...

No surprise there.Students taking over.

Anonymous said...

This place has no comparison to a cruise. A cruise is luxurious with real amenities. This place is a speedy dump without amenities.

Anonymous said...

There are so many living in one apartment because the rents are too high for a couple or family. This non related roomies and students share apartments. No minimum as long as they get the market rate rent.

Anonymous said...

I meant no maximum, not minimum

Anonymous said...

No wonder people kill themselves in this place. The conditions are very conducive to utter despair, especially for older people who can't afford to move out.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

I forgot to mention this yesterday, but hockey at The Ice is back, and again, those pucks slamming are loud. Of course, Management doesn't care. Another "amenity."

Also, there is now a large crate (?) on the 20th Street loop, across from The Ice. Seen last week an uncovered mattress in there. The other day, there were TWO uncovered mattresses inside.

Good going, Rick.

Anonymous said...

Peter, aka Peter Stuyvesant or the TA is now asking posters for issues that they want tackled. Another crock. Like they are really going to do something. They want to make it appear that they are somewhat interested after three years of being in bed with management. What next?

Anonymous said...

Can't wait for additional MCI. Yeah!!! Keep em coming.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

As I was returning home, I heard an awful sound. It was around 5:30 PM, and, as I saw, it was a sole person (boy?) slamming a puck against the walls of The Ice.

Good going, Rick!

Anonymous said...

There have been so few complaints about issues on the TA post requesting two complaints. That is what we are dealing with folks. About 50 complaints as opposed to 200 praises. Shows the apathy of residents here. Things will never change here with that attitude. Some of the posters even praised living here. Blackstone has it made.

Anonymous said...

Unreal how all of these posters on the TA are asking for dog parks and areas. Disgusting. I am sure management will be glad to oblige. As if there is nothing else wrong with this dump. Dogs rule here as do students. That post is getting nauseating.

Anonymous said...

Should slam a puck up against Rick's bedroom wall.

Should play music under Ricks apartment , or over. Over him with kids running & jumping and no rugs.

The reality is that this place is hopeless. Yes, we will have the cheerleaders, and those residents who will play along, but the "fight" is hopeless and Blackstone knows this.

Anonymous said...

I agree STR that the fight is hopeless. I also resent the TA putting up that useless listing of issues. They have known the issues here and have done nothing in three years. I can’t believe people were actually thanking them.

Anonymous said...

Blackstone is a notorious slumlord.

Anonymous said...

I doubt very much that Rick spends much time living in his apartment here. He no doubt has a home elsewhere and that is where he spends much of his time. It doesn't matter to him what tenants have to endure here. Why should he care?

Anonymous said...

People pay what they pay here for these “amenities” and to be lazy.

Ice skating in Rockefeller Center, Wollman Rink, Chelsea Piers? No thanks, we have the Oval Rink.

Concerts in Central Park, MSG, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall? Nah, oval concerts are just fine.

Go to workout at Equinox, Soul Cycle, Barry’s Bootcamp? Nah, we have oval fitness and playground 7.

It’s amazing what a society we’ve become. We want everything right in front of us at all times, instead of getting out and enjoying the greatest city in the world. Rick knows this, and that’s why these “amenities” continue to expand.

I fully expect new structures to go up on this property very very soon. Maybe not apartment buildings, but structures that can house these expanded amenities and they can charge money for its use.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>I doubt very much that Rick spends much time living in his apartment here. He no doubt has a home elsewhere and that is where he spends much of his time. It doesn't matter to him what tenants have to endure here. Why should he care?<<

As far as I know, he and his family do live here, in PCV.

Now that the Democrats have taken over Albany, those buses are worthless (supposedly), just as our TA is worthless. They will hand over the results from some tenants (many of whom are cheerleaders) and be satisfied. Management will continue to play them like a fiddle.

Anonymous said...

The TA site is not only useless but condescending to tenants.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

There is a military term, "aiding and abetting the enemy." While I don't consider Blackstone or Management the enemy, I do believe in a fight against obvious wrongs and muddled thinking and plans. The cheerleaders seem to be oblivious to all of this.

Anonymous said...

There is likely no one living "over" Rick's apartment--it's probably top floor, with extra sound-proofing added, too. Nothing but the best for the Tenants' Friend, Slick Rick!

Anonymous said...

I don't think Rick spends much time living here.

Anonymous said...

Yes, there can be a successful fight which can be won.

I wish that others would think hard, think outside their comfort zones and come to understand the methods to use to win the fight.

No, I cannot be explicit. If you come to the same realization of HOW this can be turned around, you will know why we cannot announce it.

Anonymous said...

Positively insulting that the TA put up those posts listing what we love and do not like about living here. Their lame attempt to appear interested and effective. Yeh, and what are they going to do? NOTHING! Full of crap

Anonymous said...

"No, I cannot be explicit. If you come to the same realization of HOW this can be turned around, you will know why we cannot announce it."

Give us a clue. I don't know how we can turn this place around, especially as we do not have a TA to back us up and the politicians are certainly not interested.

Anonymous said...

I think it is one person in the TA who is initiating those threads and I think she is doing it with a good heart. I don't think anything will come of it because the Old Guard of the TA really don't care. All that matters to them is what they perceive to be "prestige" and the photo ops. It's not as if the one who is usually in the photo ops is particularly photogenic.

Anonymous said...

Exactly right. Plus most residents are transient or apathetic. Give us a clue.

Anonymous said...

Good hearted no. They cut off conversations they didn’t like and the like post played right into management’s hands

Not sure why people are thanking the TA for putting up those lists of what you live and do not like. That useless TA sucks dues out of tenants and does absolutely nothing. Why thank them.
