Taking Their Sweet Time

I've uploaded two photos I took today to show visually what is happening. The first photo tells you how barren the street has been. The second photo will show one of the cross areas meant for people, walkers, canes, wheelchairs. What this photo does not show is how many constant bumps there are after the bulldozers have done their work. And dust. The area is so difficult to pass that I have seen people avoid it if they can. Some seniors just stay in their building or right in front of it. Considering that the work being done is not happening much, this is a scandal. This job should have been finished or close to it, just a few days more, but it is dragging on while money is being freely spent. What a disaster!

As someone whose building is on the 20th Street Loop, we were told by the powers that the loop is going to be cleared starting the 16th. Okay. All the cars were cleared and the space was empty. But work did not start until Monday, the 19th. Then for two days there was noise and bulldozers and other implements to make the area presentable to what follows. But on Wednesday, there was no noise and not much work at all. This has been going on for three days. No work, unless on the other side where I don't face. Either way, the work hours are haphazard and indicative of having multiple "managers" with no one in charge to make things easy and quick as possible. Basically, we have no one to "take the bull by the horns." I guess Beam has enough money to waste on parts of this (much of the loop is okay), but the residents suffer, in particular wheelchair and cane users or those with baby strollers.

I'd have to agree with you about the slow process of finishing this job. Should take a week at the most. If MetLife was still in charge I'm sure it would have been completed by now. Yes, this management is indifferent and incompetent in many things they do.

Since when has Beam ever cared about residents (even the non-disabled) suffering?

What a nightmare on the Loop. Working continues on Monday. Massive clouds of dust are being made and kicked up. Residents are on their own. Looks sometimes as if a bomb went off with all this dust, which takes a while to settle. Good work and planning, Beam.

We have had construction on our building for over a year. Terrible noise and dust coming in. The 14th St loop looks like a junkyard. Although the work on the building is coming to an end, there are rocks stuck in my window sill and still banging outside every morning. It has been a nightmare.

If there were awards given for incompetence, indifference and sheer ignorance, the idiots at Beam Living would win first prize in every category. Do we have a Resident Manager yet?
Is Kennedy the best they can come up with?
She’s fine for resort-style events, but what does she know about REAL ESTATE property and the requirements for such management? Not her fault that the powers at Bullshitstone are too incompetent and/or tight-fisted to get someone for the position.

Once the work is complete only matter of days or hours before the giant dumpsters dropped into loop with force enough to shatter windows above and begin wearing away and breaking down the paving that took most of August to accomplish…what are the dumpsters for again ? Leaves ? Not sure but they block visual fields of crosswalks in 20th street loop routinely so pedestrians must stay on alert !

I think there should be a new Stuy Town blog. It could be called "The V Blog." Won't be run by me, of course, but it will give one person a lot of comments.

What do you mean, STR? What is a "V Blog?"

What is the V Blog you are referring to? What does the V stand for?

V is for the guy who is an administrator for Beam.
