CWCapital Says Goodbye to ZogSports Events

The uproar was considerable, after all.

From Town & Village's Facebook:

http://town-village.com/2012/07/12/stuy-town-to-end-zogsports-events/

On Wednesday, Stuyvesant Town’s management told Town & Village that the company ZogSports, which had been holding events in playgrounds that at least in one instance shut out residents, would no longer be doing so....

In response to the complaints, Joe DePlasco, a spokesperson for CWCapital, said the company hadn’t been renting out the space but was permitted to hold events in a few different playgrounds for a few nights a week in exchange for sports equipment that would be donated to the property. Residents could participate in the programs by signing up through Zog, he added.

However, by late Wednesday, that arrangement, which predates CW’s control of ST/PCV, was no more.

“They reviewed park usage based on complaints and given concerns they will discontinue Zog usage of their facilities,” said DePlasco.

The CW spin, per usual, is bullshit. Where is there an on line firewall for non-residents to be banned from enrolling in ZogSport activities in STPCV? The answer, there was/is none. And then ban residents from the use of THEIR playgrounds? This was a violation of the RS law, pure and simple, a reduction of services. They got caught, this time. WTF knows what else is going on under the radar here or what is planned in the future. The initial pulling back of the rock to see the ZogSport bugs scurry out was done on the TA FB page by a brave tenant and amplified on this blog as well. We need Dan to issue a statement not to accept this spin but to reiterate the RS law reduction of services provision and no more friggin “residents and their guests" compromises with CW Capital.

I think we hit the tip of the iceberg with this one. Now is the time to scrutinize the ongoings in the oval, parks, and "amenities" even more.

What an embarrassment!

Another obvious one would be the Super Soccer Stars classes held on the large turf field. This is an outside, for-profit organization that uses a significant portion of the field several times a week. It costs quite a bit to take their classes, and I am sure they are kicking some of those fees back to someone. Not the residents.

The people have spoken, getting caught with their hands in the cookie jar must hurt! No money changed hands? Yeah right! Where can we view this donated equipment?
You can,t make this stuff up, blatantly under their noses and defending it as the other regimes infraction.
How does this Car 54 Operation keep their jobs, is there a dumb suggestion box somewhere on the grounds, because if there is..........how about that Beer Garden.

I walked though the oval this evening and it was a beautiful night. Still is. Mostly because people were enjoying the lawns, the benches and everyone looked as though they were having a good time. It was very serene. Something we could use more of these days. And there wasn't an inflatable TV or marching band in sight.

I've had many experiences like that, even of late. When will the powers that be realize that they do not need gimmicks or "something always going on" to lure people to Stuy Town and make them content?

So we're paying rent to cover the cost of these spaces, and CWCapital and Rose Associates are collecting from the likes of ZogSports in exchange for some athletic equipment. Is that equipment new or used, I wonder. However you look at it, our overlords are collecting twice for the same thing. Very charitable, Mr. Herzog. Maybe you need to revisit your 9/11-informed conscience (you'll understand the reference if you've visited the ZogSports site).

Where are the volleyball courts on 20th and 1st that are described in the Zog flier? I live at 20th and 1st and would love to play volleyball here. (I must be blind, since I've lived here three years and never seen a volleyball court at 20th and 1st.)

So CW says that no rent was paid for the space. But what is accepting equipment in return fr use of the space. Looks like rent, smells like rent, etc. It also shows you that Rose and CW, or perhaps their vendor American lesiure, has no budget for sports equipment. Lots of money for oval bread and circuses and other useless markeying gimmicks but no monet for sports equipment.

Get rid of these guys.

Just checked the ZogSports site, and ST playgrounds are still listed. Wonder if the Zogsters have been informed of the latest developments.

It's amazing how Rose and CW has no idea what's taking place on the property.

I don't think we need to send Zog any emails now.

Snarky responses should be limited to a few lines! 3 years to yet find the volleyball courts ain't that bad. I still have trouble with all the building addresses.
Danny G has been busy spearheading the anti motorized bikes on sidewalk, unfortunately we have private paths, that are repeatedly violated by full size vehicles, earth movers, golf carts, scooters, one-wheeled thing-a-migjigs, etc.
So thanks for nada.......NOTHING!
Even his statement regarding Zogster's was lame

"Btw wtf is a Zog?"

Zog refers to Rob Herzog, founder of ZogSports. The name is in line with current usage, such as 'rents instead of parents. HerSports wouldn't have sounded the same.

It's all about getting ready for the big sale.
