Ugly and Pathetic

UPDATE ALERT:  More trees are being cut down in the Oval Lawn today....

----------------

The garden crescent on the east side of the Oval is being filled with new plantings in a horrid design and look that defines the words "ugly" and "pathetic."  And for this we permanently lost trees and the lush natural arbor that was there before and the sense of living in an oasis in the middle of Manhattan???  Everyone I talk to about unnecessary transformation of the Oval greenery is upset and mortified.  This is a major, irretrievable mistake by CWCapital and its CompassRock subsidiary.  Triple shame on them.

Meanwhile, the Powers That Be put on another hugely successful Lady Maya event: televised baseball on Saturday afternoon.  Hundreds, no make that thousands, filled the Oval Lawn.

Okay, I think it's time to start calling Stuyvesant Town "Stuy Slum."  What do you think?....

Why do you think I always refer to the place as "The Sty"?

Pillage, plunder, despoilment, degradation, defilement, depredation...these words do not begin to describe the horrors perpetrated by the ghoulish, avaricious, greedy thugs i.e., CW Capital, Compass Cock, et. al. To destroy the beautiful Stuyvesant Oval, once a place of peace, tranquility and contemplation, is an act of such immorality. The final straw was the cutting down of the beautiful, HEALTHY trees. How sad! How sickening! But, hey, we have the next ear-splitting concert to look forward to next weekend, so in the words of that great American philosopher, Alfred E. Neumann, "What me worry?" Should I laugh or should I cry?

Agree completely, STR.

Just more of MIS-management - CW Capital & Andrew MacArthur (who lists himself as "Managing Director - Stuyvesant Town" on his LinkedIn page) and Compass Rock showing us how STUPID, INCOMPETENT and/or EVIL they are and how much CONTEMPT they have for tenants.

Their HATRED for those of us living here increases every day as they continue their non-stop push to harass and aggravate ALL of us so we will leave and they can either renovate our apartments and get a big rent increase that way or slap a 20% increase onto vacated, already-renovated apartments. They will keep pushing the apartment rents here into the stratosphere by packing apartments full of roommates, stressing and over-stressing the capacity of buildings and services here.

THEY ARE INDECENT, GREEDY, DESPICABLE. EVERYTHING ABOUT THEM IS DISTASTEFUL.

My biggest fear is that they are going to try to buy this place themselves.

CW/CR have destroyed the Oval and subjected tenants to all kinds of indignities with their unannounced "inspections," mid-lease rent hikes, theft and destruction of personal property (bike rooms, storage rooms, etc.); they insult us with filthy, malfunctioning laundry equipment in dungeon-like conditions and then have the fucking balls to constantly tout the stinking concerts, green market and various and sundry overpriced "amenities." Just when you think they can't stoop any lower, they do!

The hatred they have for us is only surpassed by the hatred we (well, a lot of us) have for them. I have never before wished bad things to happen to people, but for them I cross that line. I think I have to block them out of my mind in order to save my soul because I could certainly lose it by dwelling on how much I totally hate these goons.

Keep it classy Andrew MacArthur, keep it classy.

Let them keep pushing the rents up 20% but at some point even 20 year-olds aren't going to want to walk through lobby vomit, see shitty undies on the lawn, or get stabbed by the goons dealing drugs at the back of the complex. Andrew MacArthur and CWCapital are turning this place into a slum, BIG time! RENTERS BEWARE!!!

Dear Managing Director:
Shame on you!

Welcome to the wonderful world of landlord abuse and harassment.

These scum will do anything and everything "legal" to get the old tenants out and to continue to churn and turn new sucker renters.

Sad world isn't it.

Compared to X amount of apartments being permanently removed from Rent Stabilization with each vacancy, I find it hard to get as worked up as some of these commenters about trees and shrubbery.

It's not like it's been untouched since the days of the Lenape. It was planted in 1948 and could all be re-done tomorrow. That's easy.

But the loss of decent (ie: non-luxury), affordable, rental housing in a market where the intersection of real estate interests and City Hall conspire to keep the vacancy level at or less than 1% bothers me a helluva lot more than the loss of some foliage on the Oval.

As a long time resident I think it's vital that sites ike this exist, since so many newcomers have no personal connection to the place whatsoever, and look to google to see what's up here. This is how you can kick the Rob Speyers of the world in the teeth, let 'em know the real score, not what the pimps in the rental office tell 'em.

Point is - don't give the enemy any ammo by old-crank-over-the-top whining about crap that, in 10 years time, will be totally insignificant, given the big picture in play...

Attention new & old dog owners:

Please let your 4-legged friends keep on doing their business on the NEWLY planted garden trees and shrubbery. (It's good business for our classy Andrew MacArthur.)
Remember to continue to take them inside the green market area. (Kids love this place to play in.)

Life is GOOD in Cry Town!

The dog owners should take their dogs over by the leasing office back door and let them shit there so that prospective victims can step in it and get a good idea of what they have to look forward to in Shit Town.

I wonder if cutting down beautiful, healthy, mature trees in the Oval gives Andrew MacArthur and his minions feelings of "power" and "manliness?" Some people have to destroy what is beautiful and what others love in order to feel that they have some sort of worth to their lives. We all know that Andy Mac and his crew are total losers and will always be just that.

But NYU tenants, now 85% of stuy/pcv, rarely see the vomit hallways. They're mainly shown the nice, clean, always maintained model unit.

LMAO

When does this dump go on the auction block? Is there still any chance of a condo conversion? I would never want to buy into this dump so long as it is infested by NYU (and other college) students. They have degraded the QOL to the level of the dorms they really SHOULD be living in. Dump the shitty students and transients and I will be more than willing to pony up whatever it takes, but with them on board: NO WAY!

reading from TA FB, Roberts tenants have still been fucked up the ass, regardless of Garodnick and AG efforts.

"Send in your affidavits...."

"Oh, sorry, no good. Now pay up."

STR - when you have time you MUST take photos of the numerous soiled diapers (they appear to be adult size but it's hard to tell as they are hanging from the tree )dangling from the tree limbs and all over the ground by Ave B Stuy Town security booth ( just north of the booth) I've noticed them before but today it was truly impressive.

Of course dozen of maintenance works and security guards walk past it and don't clean it up or report it.

This place, at times, is nastier, than the South Bronx - but of course costs a bit more. I wonder at my own sanity for living here...

TATS asking people whose Affadavits were denied to call Councilman Dan Garodnicks office immediately. 212-818-0580.

CW Capital , Andrew MacArthur & Maya=
Money problems, waste... our due to consistent poor ideas & management

In some cases many others of these tenants have also just received notices that Compass Rock, upon review of their affidavits, has determined that their mid-lease rent increases will be reversed (until the end of the lease's term). I wonder what the differences are.

Why some tenants were denied the roll-back seems evil & misrepresentative of what those affected were told. That said, before "you" (the usual suspects) begin waving your pitchforks and calling for the heads of the TA and/or Dan Garodnick, remember, they didn't do this. The best course of action at this point would be to contact Dan G.'s office and let them advise you. I can guarantee that you will not be their only call on this subject, so they'll have a protocol for you to follow. Please, post the advise given (here & on FB) if possible. Either way, do let us know if there is a remedy. This shocking response, from CWC & (according to them) the AG's office, well and truly sucks!

Right on re: nyu.

BUT WHY DON'T YOU PEOPLE CALL NYU AND COMPLAIN ABOUT THEIR STUDENTS?????

Anonymous said...

Andrew MacArthur and Maya Autret are ruining Stuy Town

hat said, before "you" (the usual suspects) begin waving your pitchforks and calling for the heads of the TA and/or Dan Garodnick, remember, they didn't do this.

No, they didn't do it , they just paved the way. You either have short term memory loss or you are the TA or Garodnick's office. Total misinformation.

Why is this interim "landlord" destroying the beauty of the grounds? Doesn't make any sense. Maybe they are going to turn the Oval into a car park. Without all those beautiful trees, the Oval is just a lawn and not even a very pretty one.

Anonymous said...

OT, but anyone else having trouble with Verizon DSL tonight?

Anonymous said...

5 pm. No one calls to complain to nyu. ?????????

The new plants look absolutely retarded. They are a hundred times too small in scale and they are planted so far apart from one another It looks like an accident. No doubt they'll be filling in the space with the putrid feces smelling mulch. Mouthing like having my apartment smell like a barn. There's no point in looking at them I suppspose as they'll be ripped out tomorrow any way.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

That nasty smelling mulch is down already. Pretty bad odor when you walk around the Oval.

"That nasty smelling mulch is down already. Pretty bad odor when you walk around the Oval."

That is the smell of greed and corruption.

YAY. Tomorrow can't wait. loud blasting Oval concert!!!!

For residents and thir guests. TEE HEE!

Anonymous said...

Great!!! then they will at least have solved the parking problem here. It's ruined anyway. And I'm sure the tenants who used to have a pretty view which was QUIET would not care.

(making the oval a parking lot)

These people are nothing less than destructive vandals. I have nothing but contempt and loathing for them. The sooner they go away, the better. Durst planned to put up a building in the Oval and they could be clearing the way to sell it to Durst.

Time to crank up the air conditioners to full throttle to drown out that ugly noise coming from the Oval. I never thought I'd pray for rain on Saturdays in the summer.

Anonymous said...

Andrew MacArthur, you dropped your panties!

Anonymous said...

Are they torturing somebody in the Oval today? I heard these wails of torment emanating from there. I'm afraid to go out and look. Hope there's not too much blood soaking into the dirt err grass. I think they are trying to drown out the wails of torment by playing some loud instrument off-key. Kinda makes it worse, IMO.

Anonymous said...

That noise from the Oval is horrible. I wish they wouldn't invite those "musicians" from the L train platform at Union Square station to come over here and subject us to their noise. It's bad enough having to listen to them when waiting for the train.

Anonymous said...

Ha. you know when they book these music performances they really WANT US OUT.

omgggggg

Coming home today I saw this guy letting his dog take a shit right on a plant at the entrance of the 1st ave loop. I just happened to be walking by and stopped right in the area. He began to leave, without picking the turd off the plant of course, and turned around and saw me. He almost jumped out of his skin and proceeded to go back and pick up the turd. As he left, to save face, he mumbled some curses. I write this not to be critical of the dog policy (most people who wish to live in a clean environment already know it was a mistake to allow dogs), but to mention the age of the individual. It was a man of around 65 years of age. We are usually quick to blame the bros and hoes of stytown for things of this nature and assume the more mature people abide by the rules. It wouldn't surprise me if a great deal of the fecal violators here are more often than not advanced in years.

I see many older people, middle-aged and seniors, screwing things up here, too.
