Stuy Town's Luxury Movie Viewing Experience

I find this equally comical and pathetic. Watching a movie you have already seen, in poor quality, while you sit in a kid's playground with the screen on wheels on the other side of the fence.  I guess some people are not self-aware enough to know when they are being humiliated.  A small crowd, of course, but lots of noise to disturb the residents who live in the vicinity. Seriously, CWCapital/CompassRock, why do you bother?

They continue to lower the bar for what is considered "luxury."

These Wednesday night"movies" are truly an outrage. It is surely an affront to the residents who live near the Oval. From 5:00PM until after 9:00PM, they were subjected to a cacophony of noise which could wake the dead. A throng of 50 to 75 poor souls huddled on the damp "grass" of Playground 10 enthralled by a 30-year old James Bond flic. Sure was a luxury movie viewing experience...hahaha!
Truly pathetic!

They don't have movie theaters, cable or dish tv where Campus Crock is familiar with managing property. So, they usually have a picture show once a month to give the folks a treat and it's usually in the town square.

What CW is doing almost makes perfect sense. Look at the young families that have moved in. They don't have the look of the families from 20 years ago. They're more upscale. The kids look as if they could all be in private schools. More upscale=higher rents, higher property values. The part that doesn't make sense are all those areas that haven't been re-landscaped yet. If CW wanted to, everything remaining could be redone in a few months. But instead it's all getting super-dragged out. What's up with that?

Idiotic and inconsiderate.

Shame on management.

It's changing and CW is driving the change. And what can you really do? You'll soon turn around and see a lot new neighbors who frankly just have quite a bit more money than most of the older neighbors and then say what? Get out? You're helping CW ruin things you never even saw? Unless something quite unexpected happens, it's over. The old sense of community is fading fast. Whatever survives into 2014 will become the future. My guess is that CW will be one of the bidders and will make a case to the bondholders why it should be chosen and as such CW will have the inside track. No wonder they don't want to talk to sponsors. Why should they? And since CW seems to have found a formula for making rentals work, why move toward tenant ownership? Just keeping renting to students, improving the grounds, attracting higher incomes and wait as the market makes ownership more expensive than renting. The longer CW can hold off, the better for them. After all, do you think they've been using their own money to improve the grounds? It's probably operations money that could be use to benefit the bondholders. Put it this way. CW has taken the bondholders for a nice long ride. If those in the media ever get off their lazy butts and do a little investigative reporting about cronyism between Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae & the Federal Housing Finance Agency with CW, someday we might here the truth about what's been going on.

I keep getting these dumb added emails about photo contests and exhorting me to recommend friends. What's wrong with these idiots? Don't they realize that no one would recommend this dump even to their worst enemy because of their ludicrous style of "management," they couldn't manage an ice cream stand! They make the place more and more undesirable with every new gimmick, every building violation and every batch of weed-reeking OMG gang they bring in! What a bunch of insane losers!

What's the address of the TV? I'm too busy to focus on the photo.

Let's face it, this place was never "luxury" but it was a solid community.

What they have done is lowered the bar as to what constitutes a community.

There is a new type of community emerging. It's a community of the upwardly mobile which won't seem like a community at all to many of us.

There's nothing upwardly mobile about Stuyvesant Town! It slides deeper and deeper into the sewer every day! The new tenants (mostly students) may be upwardly mobile because they have no other direction to go at their age, but they are not a community. They are transients, passing through. Some use it like a latrine as they pass through and that is a shame.
