Payback is a bitch....

http://nypost.com/2014/01/21/upper-east-side-residents-feel-spurned-after-plow-delay/?utm_campaign=SocialFlow&utm_source=NYPTwitter&utm_medium=SocialFlow

I'm joking, of course.

From the looks of the paths outside, we must be living on the Upper East Side...

I have been thinking all day that the streets & FDR have not been plowed. Never saw these conditions before. Could our Mayor be playing games??? The roads & streets are a mess. Actually, I was thinking he might have cut the sanitation budget but I guess he is just going to the outer boroughs first. Interesting.

23rd Street wasn't plowed much either.

There are 508.38 miles of street in Manhattan. If you include all 5 boroughs, there are 5936.18 miles of paved streets (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Bronx, Staten Island) wiki

That is the same as round trip New York to California (3000 miles each way).

There are only 2500 snow plows to plow a distance equal to round trip NY to CA. We can't all be the first street and shouldn't always be the last street plowed.

Seems de Blasio is for the first time looking at NYC as 5 boroughs instead of plowing beginning in one neighborhood and trickling to others if the snow doesn't first melt.

lets all chill

Didn't Bloomberg make severe cuts into the Sanitation Department's manpower? I seem to remember reading that he laid off a lot of the guys who fix the snow plows and other essential equipment. He didn't care if there wasn't enough equipment and personnel to go round all 5 boroughs just so long as his beloved UES got taken care off. Damn right, payback is a bitch, and deservedly so.

They've been beeping and roaring their way up the 20th street loop for 12-plus hours in bobcats and front-loaders clearing the road and pathways. Loud as hell, but I'm completely fine with the noise knowing I'm not going to go airborne taking a walk to 14th street. They've actually done a really good job with this particular storm here in ST/PCV in my opinion, and I am by no means a fan of CampusCrock.

The excuses from the DeBlasio team must have scripted by Yogi Berra. Too crowded, computer gps problems, etc., don't tout a service and then use it as an excuse when it fails. I've had enough, abolish term limits retroactively.

This was an extremely difficult snow to deal with because of the timing (it snowed like a bastard from 2 PM through rush hour and beyond) and the temperature (which instantly turned streets to ice). All this hand wringing about DeBlasio is totally uncalled for. AND, to compare him to John Lindsay's debacle (as Al Roker did on Today) where Queens was buried under almost 2 feet of snow for a week is simply laughable. If memory serves, didn't Bloomberg have a storm about 3 years ago with similar catastrophic results in the outer boroughs ? I remember driving around Brooklyn with streets that were nearly impassable, 4 days after the storm.

New York's Mayor Is Snow Plowing the City Along Class Lines Again

Since our neighborhood is in the "Yellow zone" I guess we should be grateful that we are now part of the upper class! Just don't slip and fall on your ass whilst on the way to the bank to cash that check...

As I write this, they are cutting down all the trees in the area on the first avenue loop where they are building the new management office.

All the Trees - about 40 - 50 all healthy.
The 9 story healthy Oak tree , the two healthy 7 story trees, the 2 blooming dogwoods - all trees from the playground - all the healthy brand new 30 ft trees from the walkway.
All the trees from a 1 city block radius completely demolished by CW this morning.
They tore out about 50 trees.
Disgusting.

Does our Dashing Dan G give a flying fuck about the atrocities going on here?

Wish I could agree with you. Near me in PCV, they didn't completely clear the path inside. They did some clearing inside but didn't clear the path out to 23rd St. Even Peter Cooper Road wasn't in good shape yesterday afternoon, long after the snow had stopped. As far as I could tell, they did the same crap job they always do.

Troll/Shill Alert...beep, beep, beep. Don't you know you can't post here if you aren't saying all bad things about the management company???

Can't plow the snow but can chop down the trees.

No heat again today. All day. These stinking bastards should be arrested.

I bet this is first time anyone on the Upper East Side was this upset about seeing something that's white, including Al Roker!

Ditto "crap job" on Peter Cooper Road. Days later the pedestrian path is still a mess.

They cleared sidewalks (more or less) but the crosstown bus stop on 20th St. and First Ave is still snow and ice on Friday.
