November 14 @ 8:27 AM: So, what is the unaddressed root cause? I looked at the BBC sites you posted and I can't figure out what the root cause is? Is it religion? Fanaticism? US policy? Israel? What? All I can say is whatever the hell is the root cause, there is never any excuse or justification for the violence and destruction that these freaks inflict on innocent people.

I think that radical Islam is the enemy of Civilization. These mindless, brainwashed barbarians need to be exterminated. Yes, exterminated.

I can appreciate now why Hungary wouldn't allow any Syrian refugees over its borders. One of the suicide bombers in Paris had come in as a refugee. We certainly don't need any more of them in this country. Even if there is one terrorist among a thousand innocents, that is one too many.

France is having 3 days of grief

Perhaps we can join them

First by banning the politicizing, self serving, headline grabbing, politician's tweets
3 days of no tweets from Politicians is what we need in times like these.

Just 3 days of peace and quiet.

I don't think it's true that's you the suicide bombers was a Syrian refugee. They were all home grown scum.

Freaking predictive text. I meant I don't think it's true that one of the suicide bombers was a Syrian refugee.

Yes, just like after 9/11, let's go simple and stupid, use fear, and invade Syria, go back to Iraq, invade Iran, etc., kill them all. Well, as someone one who has skin in this game (family members, Afghan combat veterans still active in the Army), very easy here to be a chicken hawk. And please, don’t give the BS that the “surge” was successful and if Obama hadn’t cut and run from Iraq (no Bush did and Obama followed because Iraq would not guarantee that our troops would not be subject to their judicial system). And guess how ISIS was created? That's right; just like Al-Qaida , we created them. Because “we would be treated as liberators”. And guess who’s our ally in the fight against ISIS? That’s right, Iran. BTW, the billions we gave to Egypt, to Jorden, to Saud Arabia for military equipment and almost 5 million men under arms, where the F are they in this crisis? And that “Syrian” passport could be a plant. Terrorist are experts in the use of misinformation. Pussy neocons, go F yourselves.

Me again, I forgot to add Turkey (and a NATO member as well) as one of our "allies" who has received massive military aid.

I would guess the root cause is the universal root cause. Cut off those financing the guns and terrorists, cut off the money supplying these terrorists. The banks and arms dealers.

The US has a long history of funding despotic regimes and installing despots because they are "friendly" toward us.

Isil is a cult using religion as means of gaining power, riches, sex, and drugs etc. It was spawned in the power vacuum of the mad max wasteland that we had a big part in creating in the region. To equate this piracy, whose adherents are exclusively rootless twenty something males, with established Islam as a whole, or to demonize the refugees from this nightmare, is idiotic.

What about that Boko Haram bunch of assholes in Africa. Are they part of Isis? All of these terror groups need to be exterminated like diseases. I think of them as human forms of AIDS and EBOLA and cancer. They need to be completely eliminated off the face of the earth.

These terrorists are being financed and armed by the tenants buying the condos on Billionaire row NYC and Time Warner Center Tower NYC. Friends of Cuomo and Bloomberg. Oligarchs and the worlds most corrupt leaders. That is why the NYTimes towers piece is so damn important. That is what the city politicians, if they had a shred of intregrity, would be opposing. That is the root cause. The people Bloomberg, Cuomo want to push us out for. The people paying for multi-million dollar condos in all cash deals under llc names. For that they are killing our communities, our Parks.

The NY politicians are part of the root cause problem.

So true. Follow the money, as they say.

Cut off the money supply to the terrorists. If you don't do that, and you only kill the terrorists but leave the money suppliers still operating, they will find or train or breed new terrorists.

America and especially New York has neither the political courage to arrest, indict and punish those financing the terror and much worse, is giving political support to them. Sadly I think we've not only lacking in political courage, but we've also some politicians who love the money no matter from where it came, bloody or not. We have the weakest laws and worse, we are building and creating real estate that is so expensive it is only suitable to money laundering, and certainly not suitable to New Yorkers.

Other countries have limits on purchases of real estate by foreign entities, or better laws around ownership records. New York and America opened the door wide open to dirty corrupt foreign money, allowing writing laws to wash millions of dollars in all cash purchases and secretive ownership laws. Our politicians are aiding and abetting the terrorist financiers while they are bombing the terrorist soldiers. Taking out the soldiers while coddling the Generals (financiers) perpetuates terrorism instead of stopping it.

Stop building the billionaire, empty, money laundering towers, write better laws to protect citizens from losing American communities to foreign land hoarders and money washers. NY real estate industry is at the very least adding to the problem, but more likely is complicit.

I don't understand how terrorism is financed, but I do know that if someone makes an "investment" of a certain amount of money (and buying a super-duper luxury apartment qualifies as such an "investment"), they can get a green card. I don't want to hear about Mexican laborers coming over the borders to find work when we have these plutocrats waltzing in her simply by plunking down money to buy an apartment in a tower. A tower that deprives the minions of sunlight.

The laws need to be changed so that people cannot buy green cards and the REBNY needs to be thoroughly investigated and indicted. It reminds me of that old organization "Murder, Inc." An organization totally comprised of criminals for the purpose of criminal activities!

PARIS — Pope Francis has denounced arms traffickers who are fueling what he calls the piecemeal “world war” raging around the globe, saying they are “damned” delinquents interested only in making money.

Francis delivered one of the most pained homilies of his pontificate Thursday during morning Mass in the Vatican hotel chapel. He didn’t mention the Paris attacks by name, but referred to little wars being fought around the globe.

He said: “War is a choice for getting rich” and humankind has chosen “the path of war, of hatred, of enmity.”

He continued: “Those who make war are damned, they’re delinquents. War can be ‘justified’ for many reasons. But when the whole world is at war, as it is today … there is no justification. And God weeps.”

These arms dealers, with the help of RE and pols, are laundering their money in real estate - in luxury condo amenity towers. Our lawmakers are just as responsible, for giving lax laws to the wealthy, to foreign "investors" and to RE. Stop the arms dealers and the ones financing the terrorists; the rest are just soldiers, easily replaced if we take them out; but take out the financiers and arms dealers from society and that will make the biggest positive difference.
