Dear Resident, we, as well as you, have noticed an increase in the rat population of Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village. While we are currently dealing with the human kind, I must tell the residents of this outstanding community that the rat increase is a product of a purposeful attempt by our crack Public Safety Department (which never sleeps and has a thousand eyes continually upon you via our award-winning cameras) to make sure that rats multiply in this community and are considered part of its infrastructure. Rats, after all, are our friends and should be considered as such. Surprisingly, we already have negative missives about the other rodents--squirrels--which are simply funny little things with cute bushy tails. The rats that we are harboring admittedly do not have such bushy tails, but they are part of the squirrel family and should be considered as such.
Please, not only keep the pizza boxes in display at our Oval and other places of eatery (frankly the entire complex), but increase their display and other discarded food items. Let the rats benefit and grow.
I ask this not only as the representative of Blackstoned, but as someone who lives in this community and considers you his friend.
Yours respectfully,
Dick
General Manager
Blackstoned Properties All Over Manhattan Ltd.

Good Thursday Morning -
Just to get this upfront and emphasized:
Regarding the behavior of publicly masturbating residents:
BECOME INVOLVED IMMEDIATELY! CALL 911. GET IN THEIR FACES (STAY AWAY FROM THE DANGLING PARTS!!!). SCREAM, YELL, MAKE A HUGE, TREMENDOUS, EXTREMELY LOUD AND DISTURBING SCENE. BE EXCEEDINGLY NASTY.
When I was a young woman on NYC subway trains, this was the way some other women and myself handled these too frequent occurrences. Women still embarrass, berate, verbally harass men who engage in this behavior. An instance of this appeared on Facebook recently.
Stop handing over your life to others. Men with their privates out - urinating or masturbating - need to be loudly and aggressively confronted. Please do so, especially other men and mothers.
Thank you.
Well, if women can walk around with their breasts on display, why can't men walk around with their penises (or should that be peni?) on display? Fair's fair.
STR, I have commented on your posts and comments left by others routinely to add a voice from the management company and add some color to the posts.
This post of yours from today is totally out of line! Feel as you may about Stuytown, mainly negative as we know, but taking things too far is not cool.
Hmm, me thinks you take things too seriously. The post was meant to lighten the load instead of increasing it.
PS: If you want me to get serious, very serious, I can oblige, too.
Hmm, me thinks STR has touched a raw nerve at management level. Sometimes the truth (even when cloaked in humor) hurts.

Because it's a law on the books. I don't like it either.
Nothing funny about this one! I have a decent sense of humor, as do my colleagues, but as I wrote, this one goes to far.
woa. str, not sure you should entertain the troll and post those. yes, no?
The rats on 4 legs--I dont really care. joke about that all you want. The recent letter to the T&V defending the "little squirrels" was hilarious but I think that guy was actually serious.
the human rats--not funny. I suppose its funny for men to imagine themselves jerking off in public. its not funny for more than half the population. sexual harassment is not a joke.
Although it is true that rats are all over the city, oval birthday parties and picnics as well as greenmarkets and on premise eating all exacerbate the problem.
"Nothing funny about this one! I have a decent sense of humor, as do my colleagues, but as I wrote, this one goes to far."
Face the facts:
Good management leaves little room for jokes. Bad management and you become the joke. Try being better at your job and you won't be the brunt of jokes. Period!
I'd say that the rats and the dudes with their junk out are a match made in heaven. Mazel tov!
>>Nothing funny about this one! I have a decent sense of humor, as do my colleagues, but as I wrote, this one goes to far.<<
If you read it without bias, it may just stick up for management in a perverse way. I could, for instance, just report the facts and decide not to entertain management's point of view, which I'm sure is that rats are a problem city-wide and they (management) is trying its best to deal with a city-wide situation. I could make my point even stronger. I could. Instead I decide to over-blow the situation to ridiculousness. Incidentally, part of the heading is taken from the Dracula film of 1931.
As to living here, I have my complaints for sure, but I'm not looking for another place in New York City. Unless you have a nice flat near the water at Battery Park City, rent free. That's near the water, not in it.
This is a spot on and very funny post that clearly hit a nerve of truth with management.
Not so funny is another rat...the new Target Store...Target Corp in a shady back-door donated spyware for use by moneyed interests on citizens for Association for a Better New York foundation in New York and the LA police foundation. Association for a Better New York hates rent stabilized tenants...hates our existence. They hate Peter Cooper Village Stuyvesant Town and are ridding of us as if we are rats with spyware on tenants. No way are we ever shopping in Target. By the by, BlackRock (Tishman Speyer StuyTown partner) is major owner of Airbnb via Sequoia.

"Private donors, including Target and IBM, supply spy gear to cops"
There was a quicker, quieter way to get the software: as a gift from the Los Angeles Police Foundation, a private charity. In November 2007, at the behest of then Police Chief William Bratton, the foundation approached Target Corp., which contributed $200,000 to buy the software, said the foundation's executive director, Cecilia Glassman, in an interview. Then the foundation donated it to the police department.
But critics say police foundations operate with little transparency or oversight and can be a way for wealthy donors and corporations to influence law enforcement agencies' priorities.
"No one really knows what's going on," said Dick Dadey of Citizens Union, a good government group in New York. "The public needs to know that these contributions are being made voluntarily and have no bearing on contracting decisions."
Donna Lieberman, executive director of the New York Civil Liberties Union, said she saw danger in the growing web of ties between police departments, foundations and private donors.
"We run the risk of policy that is in the service of moneyed interests," she said.
The nation's first police foundation was established in New York City in 1971 by the Association for a Better New York, a private group headed by real estate magnate Lewis Rudin."

totally Agreed! Bad management = butt of bad jokes. Sorry/not sorry. Fix the problems we have and we'll stop posting on Yelp, badmouthing. Fix the rent. Friends have to move away as the bogus lease and rent went from 3200 to 3900. assholes.
Interesting how everyone is criticizing STR'S "bad joke". I walk the sty late at night because I work nights. When I read this post I thought that it was finally not just me noticing the increase in the rodent population here in the sty. In all honesty, management has always been good in this regard. I haven't seen a rat in a long, long time until about one month ago. I've had about four sightings in the last month. Yes, I called it in.
me? I'll take the rodents over the students and jackasses making all the racket here any day any day.
"me? I'll take the rodents over the students and jackasses making all the racket here any day any day."
Me, too!!!
Even bed bugs are better than the students and jackasses now living here.
This is a fairly light piece of satire. If management is getting their knickers in a twist over this, they need to get out of the bunker, take deep breath, and smell the roses... And the dog shit and pot smoke.
"me? I'll take the rodents over the students and jackasses making all the racket here any day any day."
"Me, too!!!"
You all must have pretty low self esteem. Normal people would refuse to put up with any of it, it wouldn't be an either/or.
What should we do 10 06, walk out of the lease, break it, move? you sound like a troll from Blackstone.Rick's office.
"What should we do 10 06, walk out of the lease, break it, move? you sound like a troll from Blackstone.Rick's office."
I didn't realize being a proponent of not accepting the bullshit occurring here would arouse suspicion of me being a Blackstone troll. Well, I'm not. I'm just an idiot who's spent way too much time here because of my "good deal" and now I'm trapped. To your point though, yeah I agree, we're pretty much fucked. We have no advocates, that's for sure.
I took a walk near and inside the new cafe and sure enough it doesn't have any signs but the rating from the health board. There were also dog crap stains nearby and refuse nearby, too. At 10am it's pretty early to be seeing such nonsense. Again, people seem not to care, and the ones that do remain steaming and silent.
10:06, your self-esteem is as low as ours is because you are putting up with it too, and consider yourself trapped. I've been here forever and am actively searching for somewhere else to live, though it will mean leaving NYC. NYC has gone to hell. It's just a death trap with overcrowding, clogged streets and terrorists licking their chops at the thought of attacking us. We have a bozo of a mayor who only cares about kissing the asses of the developers.
Carumba, this mayor is embarrassing to ny. you are all lame.
