Life in Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village

A photo here and a photo there. To be updated with more photos.

Yes, there is a rule of NO riding of bicycles around the Oval. Trust me: there is that rule. The barriers at all points of entry to the Oval tell riders of the rule and everybody else who can read.

But unless you run over a Public Safety officer, chances are no one cares....

And, yes, they are riding right by the "guard" booth.

Difficult to see because I couldn't focus in time, but this is something one witnesses ALWAYS: dogs being walked without those PCVST lanyards. All this despite the second warming by our Manager, Rick Hayduk, which has followed the first warning given a year ago. No one cares, including, it seems, Rick and Blackstone itself. A rule that is not enforced, no matter what is said. And, yes, I know about "the monitors."

Don't ask, don't tell...

Every Friday, Public Safety closes the 1st Avenue Loop to ticket cars parked illegally during that time.... And I do hope that dog is very nice, but he is kinda eyeing me in a persistent way....

We hear a lot about this place being noise free. That is one of the selling points of this complex. But residents can hear many things aside from the sounds of birds in the morning. Yes, it is a "construction zone." Of course, the noise depends on the job being done and its duration, but apartments will be "upgraded" forever, bit by bit.... This photo also clearly shows the bicycle barriers and the ever-present sign that warns bicyclists not to ride around the Oval.

*     *     *

Update, around 11am.

It's not all tears. There is laughter, too. As when at a certain season (which just happens to coincide with the closing and then opening of colleges), moving trucks start appearing in Stuyvesant Town. Oh, for a fee Oval Something-or-Other will provide all the material you need to get you the hell out and another sucker tenant coming in at an even higher price for a PCV or ST apartment.

All good things must end. So enough laughter. Serious stuff coming up in the next update.

*     *     *

Update, around 1:30pm.

Do you play chess? Well if you do, you may want to bring your own chess board. Photos of our chess tables between Five Stuy Cafe and Oval Studio....The term "elbow grease" has probably not been heard because when the tables are cleaned, in response to the complaints of residents who are not all pigs, we get a spray of water from one of those diesel-spewing and smelly vehicles.... And whose bright idea was it to put a garbage can near the tables? Doggie do-do and urine go so well with breakfast or lunch.... And let's not mention just how new these tables are or their benches! Oh, okay, we can mention that, too.

*     *     *

Update, around 8pm.

Things like this greet me in the morning. Left behind by pigs. There's no other word for them.

Below. Unattended. "Sorry, we haven't seen your package anywhere."

"It is a sandbox for my little one, isn't it? Anyway, I pay too much rent to be bothered by soil or plants! Maintenance will clean it up. And, by the way, what's it to you?"

Maybe more updates tomorrow.

Instead of chirping from birds here in the 20th street loop we have a white box truck that is loaded with giant pieces of furniture trashed at the curb by workers yelling the whole time. No need to own an alarm. Box truck will have you awake and angry by 5:40 am every day. Soccer coaches screaming Goal are weekend alarm clocks guaranteed to have you awake before 9am. Hockey pucks slammed against janky rink walls give you earlier alarm on weekends in winter. Funny they don't advertise all the free alarms the complex provides to prospective tenants.

'Ricky boy' DOES NOT CARE. This dump is shot. Moving trucks ALL OVER THE PLACE. Nice stable place to live in Rick. Keep up the good job! Your pretty good at this!

Anonymous said...

If they are making all that noise at 5:40 am they are breaking the law. You should call 311 and report it to Useless Rick (for all the good that will do).

Useless Rick really could try harder, but he doesn't care. He is not proving to be a very good property manager. Totally unimpressed with "charm." Just do the fucking job you are paid (no doubt handsomely) for.

Those photographs are so gross! I can't understand how people can eat in the Five Turd E-Coli Cafe considering how dirty this whole place is. In fact, just walking toward that cafe, with the intention of trying it out, I lost my appetite when I saw the Trump Tower of dog shit in the middle of the walkway! It really is a nauseating experience to walk through the property. The streets are cleaner than the walkways in Sty Town.

The technique our property manager Rick Hydick uses is quite simple:
Just "yes em" to death.
He seems so concerned and interested in your particular issue.
"I'll look into it right away. It will be taken care of."
Then NOTHING.
This is a methodology taught to the drones at all call centers:
Never argue with customer or client.
Seem sympathetic and interested in their problem.
Never confront.
Never argue.
THEN IGNORE AND FOLLOW COMPANY POLICY.
As far as Blackstone is concerned, PigStuy Town is a cash cow and should be milked until the udders prolapse.
Not funny. Sad.

I understand we are getting L Train entrances/exits on 14th @ A/14th Street Loop. It is going to be undiluted HELL for those of us living in 435/445.
I think I'll sublet my apartment for a few months and go out of town. The QOL is going from the toilet to the darkest recesses of the sewer. I am old time RS and a sublet would be happy wth my tent. I don't want to make a profit, I just want to get out of this shit hole for a spell!

The real problem here, and I've said it before, is that there needs to be more than 1 "Rick." There are 3 different property management companies running things up in Parkchester, yet somehow Blackstone thinks that Rick can handle this monster property on his own. It's obvious that he can't.

What this place needs is 3 Senior Property Managers (Rick equivalents) and 2-3 Property Managers under EACH Senior Property Manager. Until Blackstone realizes this, nothing will change, and Rick & Co. will continue to yes us to death.

Blackstone- you have more than enough money to pay for a number of competent managers to run this place. Show us you care and get Rick the help he needs at the highest levels of management.

Anonymous said...

Rick Hayduk is just the sort of property manager that Blackstone wants. He is doing a perfect job for them. He yesses older tenants to death and acts like he is interested. Then he simply follows Blackstone policies to a tee, which are designed not to ruffle the dorm residents and transients in the 4 and 5 grand apartments. He is their idea of a good property manager, ignores rule infractions and helps them cram and churn.

As of today, we will have the shutdown of the L line. We will have the possibility of Associated going out of business and being replaced by nothing. We will have two neighbors (condos) on the other side of 14 Street, and those tenants will come to Stuyvesant Town to use the Oval and the cafe, which supposedly is "for residents and their guests".... Yeah, things are looking up!

When I asked for names, I was told we don't have lesser property managers, which I thought we did not too long ago. There's just Rick and his subordinate helpers.

"cram and churn"
Churn. Churn. Churn.
Those moving vans say it all. Illegally cram 'em in and churn the units. Cram and Churn is an old insurance industry trick. Metlife, New York Life, all of them use it to up their commissions and use it here to up the rents to market and behyond. Metlife planned and began the churn churn churn of apartments long before Tishman Speyer came along. This is how sleazy the financial institutions, insurance, banks, hedge funds, asset management operate when their industry lobbyist write laws and pass them through government without any public process. Insurance company profits are huge and coverage for customers is negligent at best. Churn is a sleazy insurance industry standard operating procedure:

Question: Does anyone know which corner of Avenue A and East 14th Street the new L train entrance will be built?
Seems problematic putting an entrance on either the NW corner ( where the bus stop is located ) or on the NE corner ( the Stuy Town sides )?
It would seem easier to place the entrance on the SE or SW side ( where the dry cleaner and the new construction is located ) but wouldn't that be good only for the Brooklyn bound trains?
Just curious. Anyone have any thoughts or knowledge? Thank you.

STR, thank you for the pictures of the filth on the chess tables.
I don't mind the empty pizza boxes, the dirty diapers, or the empty soda cans.
Hey, that's par for the course here at PigStuy Town.
BUT A MOUND OF DOG SHIT ON THE MIDDLE CHESS TABLE???
What's up with that????
Sick, very sick.
THE SLOBS RULE.
On the bright side, maybe the odor will waft over to the nearby to the Five Turd e-coli Café and the clueless patrons will get a clue.
Hey, Rick, can you smell it?

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>BUT A MOUND OF DOG SHIT ON THE MIDDLE CHESS TABLE???<<

It may look like it, but the doggie do-do and urine are near the tables and not on it. But can anyone be certain? I've seen dogs "resting" atop the chess tables, so who knows? I've also seen human feet/shoes atop the chess tables. I wonder if these slobs do that at home? Place their feet on the kitchen or dining table?

No, some photos are dried food. Maybe. Again, who knows?

BTW, that close up photo of some white stuff on one of the chess tables is still there this morning. This white stuff is dry, very dry.

Speaking of Associated, I noticed a clearing of some of their shelves. It is minimal at this point, but don't be surprised to find it all gone a few months from now.

June 13, 2017 at 12:02 AM The "Churn" practice of getting customers to open new insurance policies is no different than the Churning practices here of getting customers (tenants) to up their apartments to renovated ones after transients occupy them to convert from stabilized to de Blasio-Blackstone "capped" market rate increased rents (using unregulated renovations) and is no different than the Wells Fargo churn of new accounts by straight up opening accounts in customers names that the customers don't know about. Wells Fargo pushed the frauds further than the insurance industry and property managers here and got caught but it is still all fraud no matter that the regulators, law makers and law enforcement look the other way with a wink wink and even worse, the law makers deregulate all together. Fraud is fraud. Corporate fraud is making some political families very rich.

Tommyboy said...

I agree, the so-called policies here are both un-enforceable & confusing. What's a bike on the sidewalk when your avoiding a golf cart, box truck or a earth mover. Finding a open table at the oval was a welcomed surprised until I discovered a larger super sized soda spill. Is it all just a case of self entitlement?

It amazes me that people think Rick is doing a good job. He is set up to fail and it doesn't take a property management guru to figure that out. IF Blackstone had the best interest of the tenants and property as a whole in mind, they would get a Manhattan knowledgeable staff in place to run things.

Boca does not equal Manhattan and one property manager is nowhere near enough.

Anonymous said...

In regards to Associated, I have noticed empty shelves in the past. The bread shelf is nearly bare before they get a delivery and it is the same for some other shelves. One reason why I dislike that store. Stock has always been poor.

Anonymous said...

As I have previously stated, it is not that Hayduk is a poor property manager. He is the perfect one for Blackstone. He takes his orders from them and they want this property run to the ground. They do not want to ruffle the feathers of the students and transients living in the market rate apartments, thus the policy of look the other way. Hayduk is ideal for them as he schmoozes the older rent stabilized tenants but does nothing. Blackstone does not want this property to be well run.

I don't want any AirbnB types in my home. I'll sublet it to a couple of people I know (relatives, in fact) who would love to visit the City for an extended stay on the cheap. They wouldn't want to stay permanently because they have nice homes of their own overseas.

My 1 bedroom with a living room!!! rents for under $1200/mo.
and still - aside from the great landscaping and beautiful grounds (ignoring the dog sh..t all over the place - the QOL here is so bad (and getting worse) there is no solution but to sublet or leave altogether.
and once 14th st. with the dorms across the street, Target and Traders open up, what do you think the Oval, more dogs, the benches etc. will look like?

Anonymous said...

Many property management companies work to improve properties. Blackstone is a horse of a different color. Once again, I repeat it is not Rick running the property to the ground. He gets his orders from higher-up management. He is instructed to be false, apathetic, and inefficient. The core issues of renting to NYU and transients are not his issues, they are Blackstone's issues and those are the issues that are ruining this community. Rick Hayduk is just the hatchet man for Blackstone and he does the job that they instruct him to do. Do you really think that he would go against management and evict the lowlifes that live here or enforce rules that displease the dorm set?

Anonymous said...

All these complaints about the property management and the performance of their Boca man are music to Blackstone's ears. They give better service standards to the market rate, the students, the bulk leases, the Oval concierge-served hotel apartments, and bad service to the affordable housing stock. The guys at headquarters are probably pleased with the suffering caused to unconverted units, and even the affordable housing converted units. They may be happiest when we are unhappy, but they are just as unhappy when the truth about their piss poor property service is exposed. Thank goodness we have STR and the last few posts.

I think that when they are renovating apartments, the tenants in adjacent units should live rent free for the duration. Your apartment is uninhabitable while they are drilling and jackhammering and I don't think it is fair that you have to pay full rent for a home that is uninhabitable for long periods of time.

How do the people who work nights manage? They are supposed to be sleeping when all of this ear and nerve-shattering noise is going on? I hate this place. If I could afford to move I would, but where to go in this REBNY-owned Hell Town now that rents are so high and I don't know anywhere or anybody outside of New York. DeB and Garodnick want to build higher and denser. Did they see the news from London this morning? 24-floor residential tower burned down and most of the tenants killed. Seems there were some renovations being done and they were not up to code. Wonder if BlackHeart was the landlord and one of Dan's pals was the developer? They're all over the Globe, like a metastesising cancer.

Here is the real kick in the gutt.

In a familiar sound, Tenant concerns for fire hazard are dismissed by management and city council..because they were poor? .. familiar sound because we are middle class rent stabilized?

http://www.independent.co.uk/voices/grenfell-tower-fire-kensington-london-residents-kctmo-council-contract-ignored-poor-a7789276.html

"The Grenfell Tower residents saw this tragedy coming, but were repeatedly ignored. Was it because they were poor?

In a frighteningly prescient post titled 'Playing With Fire', the Grenfell residents' association wrote in 2016 that 'a serious fire in the tower block' with a catastrophic loss of life would be the only way they could bring the company managing the building 'to justice"

"The Grenfell Action Group said its concerns were dismissed by Kensington and Chelsea council, which owns the block, and and the local tenant management organisation [KCTMO], which runs the borough’s homes.

The Grenfell Action Group residents’ association had consistently warned about the possibility of such a tragedy; this morning, they updated their website with a post which reads: “Regular readers of this blog will know that we have posted numerous warnings in recent years about the very poor fire safety standards at Grenfell Tower and elsewhere in RBKC [the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea]. ALL OUR WARNINGS FELL ON DEAF EARS and we predicted that a catastrophe like this was inevitable and just a matter of time.”

https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/jun/14/what-happened-at-grenfell-tower-london-fire-visual-guide

The time to get politics out of FDNY senior levels, to get Commissioners to prioritize firefighters and citizens rather than developers and lobbyists is past due. The time for new Commissioners is long past due.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

I have heard about the London fire. Obviously I thought of ST and PCV but... our buildings are "old" post-WW 2 construction, which means that they are durable. So we should not be visited by the same tragedy. Now if we were new construction, I couldn't vouch for anything. I hope those remaining tenants in London will survive somehow and that the owner of the buildings pays through his teeth.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Of course, the questions being asked about this complex are many. Why do I see more and more motorized bikes with the rider not having any visible ID? Two violations right there. And why is not PS stopping these guys and having them turn around to come back where they came from? This is just one complaint that is very easy to take care of. That is, if Blackstone and their reps here want to take care of it. But do you see them doing that?

Anonymous said...

I don't see a fire like the London fire happening in PCVST. Although they are cramming people in by the boatload and doing shoddy renovations, the initial construction of the property was pretty damn good, and the chances of a fire spreading like that are pretty slim.

On the other hand, I have no doubt that 100% of buildings put up in this city since 2000 could easily suffer the same fate.

Anonymous said...

Still working on that wall. That's funny. It's true. What a JOKE that IS!

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Sometimes, looking all over the city and not just at that "wall," I have the feeling that someone (and not just one) is getting paid very well.

I did see in a recent renovation that SPS did on the main floor of 442 e 20th in which SPS removed the concrete walls and replaced them with metal studs and sheet rock walls. I am not aware of the fireproof readiness of the sheet rock walls but I am aware that one of the reasons PCVST never needed fire escapes was the concrete walls. I now question if SPS is putting lives at risk like was done in London during renovations. I wonder if the DOB is aware that SPS is doing this. If only we had a TA! Now I find myself wondering what ever happened to the "NEW TA" that was supposed to get up and running June 1st, just more BS??? I wonder a lot, especially when it comes to the new owners and (mis)management team.

Despite any PR spin, there is no doubting tenant protections are severely, deliberately weakened by pro-conversion investors, lobbyists and developers who control Albany and City. The photos tell it all, maintenance service is at an all time low on the grounds and in the buildings. The fire as it happened in London may or may not occur here, but the direction of tenant rights, protections and safety is the same here as it is there. This is where we, StuyTown and the entire country now that the housing assets are hoarded, are heading fast, and it is a slippery slope. By design we are lacking basic protections that the landlords enjoy. This is written well:

China Detains Chairman of Anbang, Which Sought Ties With Jared Kushner

https://www.nytimes.com/2017/06/13/business/dealbook/insurance-china-anbang.html?_r=0

"The chairman of a Chinese financial conglomerate who tried to forge a business relationship with President Trump’s son-in-law has been detained by police. Wu Xiaohui, the chairman of Anbang Insurance Group, was taken away on Friday in Beijing ... Mr. Wu, who piloted Anbang’s rapid rise to global prominence with splashy purchases like the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Manhattan, is the latest Chinese tycoon to be ensnared in an anti-corruption drive that has swept the country in recent years.

Anbang, which claims to have almost $300 billion in assets, had recently been on a worldwide buying spree, and Mr. Wu counted Wall Street executives like Stephen A. Schwarzman as among his business partners in the United States."

Does this corrupt, arrested, jailed, Chinese billionaire oligarch own PCVST, including our homes?

Without ever informing or ever consulting with their 25,000 PCVST resident constituents/neighbors, in a rigged, corrupted real estate transaction, our NYC Mayor de Blasio, our NYC Councilman Garodnick and our hijacked PCVST TA Board could not act fast enough falling over themselves claiming credit for disgracefully betraying their 25,000 living, breathing PCVST resident constituents/neighbors by needlessly handing over EVERYTHING PCVST to perhaps the world's most notorious bailed-out predatory Wall Street billionaire oligarch Schwarzman in exchange for NOTHING - ABSOLUTELY NO BENEFIT WHATSOEVER - NOTHING WE DIDN'T ALREADY HAVE - NOTHING for their 25,000 PCVST resident constituents/neighbors electing them to defend us against REBNY/Wall Street predators like Speyer, Moelis, Brookfield, Fortress, Schwarzman-Blackstone, etc.

I'm still trying to put my head around these bike complaints. How do you stopbdoneone legally, especially if they don't want to stop? You can't grab them, knock them off or actually do anything.

I've recently saw a PS guy actually follow a biker and locked it up when he went to make the delivery. Guy came down and had to present ID to get the bike back... but when he got the ID back it came with a summons.

That's the only way I can see them enforcing this rule without getting sued.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

PS doesn't have to summon them. Just don't let them in. Or at least try.

Take several officers and position them at one of the loops. To motorized bike person: "Sorry, you can't go in." Both Ess-A-Bagel and Hane use motorized bikes also. I have seen them. The restaurants are part of this complex. Busting them is even easier. You have the monitors, too. Report it. To us. Let the word go out.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

And once in a blue moon you will see PS on bicycles. These guys don't look like the regulars. They are in better shape and know how to ride their bicycles. Pay them. Use them. Follow the lawbreakers, then bust them. If there is a will, there is a way.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Another thing: To the police. Go outside, especially during dinner time, and go to several neighborhood restaurants. You will see the motorized bikes parked outside. Now I believe you have to see them actually "riding" to bust them, despite the law against motorized bikes and requiring visible restaurant ID, so station your men here and there and just watch. Then bust. Fees to the city.

Wrong (in your case). They want you to stay because they're already extracting the most money they can from you. If you leave it won't be that easy to fill your apt as evidenced by all the unoccupied apartments in this project. This is also why you're seeing so much desperation in the form of incentives to rent in this dump. If you were a real R/S tenant then, yeah, you would be correct.

Hey STR, what's the deal with management asking me to send a w-2 with my SOCIAL SECURITY

The more we learn about who he puts on his committees and appoints as commissioners the more we are thoroughly disgusted. Another politician married to a developer who says they did everything legally wink wink no matter that it is not ethical, moral or for that fact lawful if the developer honors Tenant Rights. What a piece of work.

Anyone following the news knows the Mayor sold out the Office in more ways than can be counted on all of our fingers and toes combined. But it is worse for us because the Mayor is desperate for Albany to give him an extension on control of NYC schools. Completely totally will-do-anything level of desperation. Blackstone wants to develop this property for hotel condos. Blackstone controls the Mayor long before but moreso after giving $10 million to create a new non-profit organization called NYC Kids Rise. Peculiarly, Blackstone gave the $10 million to the Commissioner of Media and Entertainment who with the Mayor and Blackstone and sort of Richard Buery and school commissioner Farina too maybe, but it is the Media and Entertainment commissioner Menin who is partners with Blackstone running this Blackstone funded $10 million non-profit. If the Mayor wants Albany to give an extension on control of NYC schools then the Mayor has to give Blackstone whatever they want.

Peculiarly too is the timing of the Media & Entertainment Commissioner Blackstone Partnership. Very peculiar timing.

June 14, 2017 at 9:11 PM That is big news and good news for the good guys.
It is not so good news for the insurance industry and real estate fraudsters. Blackstone has or had an office in the Kushner building that was in negotiations with Anbang - 666 Fifth.
Here is what the BBC said:
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-40269462

"In 2016, Anbang paid private equity firm Blackstone $6.5bn for the ownership of Strategic Hotels & Resorts, a portfolio of upmarket hotels and resorts.

That purchase added 16 luxury properties across the US to Anbang's holdings, including the Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay, and the Four Seasons hotels in Silicon Valley and Washington.

Mr Wu masterminded the explosive rise of his company in just over a decade by selling relatively risky investment products - not traditional insurance policies.

..Another respected magazine, Caixin, published unusually frank exposes on Anbang in April.

Like the New York Times before it, Caixin probed Anbang's murky ownership structure and whether it had enough money in the bank to carry out large overseas acquisitions.

The articles addressed some of the greatest mysteries swirling around China: who really owns Anbang and who made way for its almost impossible rise from a tiny car insurance company to a global behemoth?

The company, one of the country's richest and most powerful, said Wu Xiaohui was stepping aside as chairman.

It gave few details but said he was no longer able to fulfil his duties for "personal reasons".

Chinese business magazine Caijing had reported that Mr Wu was detained by authorities last week, but later deleted its article.

An official source told the BBC that Mr Wu had been taken away from the Anbang Office Building on 8 June by police who arrived in two cars.

It is not clear where Mr Wu is now.

If Mr Wu's detention is confirmed by the authorities, he would be the highest-profile target of the government's attempt to re-establish state control of the financial industry, and target corruption.

Anbang is known for a number of high profile international acquisitions, like the purchase of New York's Waldorf Astoria hotel in 2015.

Part 2

The Hilton Blackstone deal is mired in controversy, scandal, secrecy and prelude to or part of 16 iconic, landmark American properties handed over to Anbang Insurance until U.S. national-security officials said no no no, you cannot have San Diego’s Hotel del Coronado -

"after concerns were raised by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States, according to the people, who asked not to be identified because the sale process is private. The interagency body, led by the Treasury Department, reviews acquisitions of American businesses by non-U.S. entities for national-security risks."

The operative wording here is "acquisitions of American businesses by non-U.S. entities for national-security risks".."national security risks"

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2016-10-21/blackstone-said-to-end-anbang-deal-for-hotel-near-u-s-navy-base

The whole Hilton shebang.

http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article/20141006/BLOGS02/141009905/waldorf-astoria-sale-caps-epic-success-for-blackstone

It is a mystery indeed.."who made way for its almost impossible rise from a tiny car insurance company to a global behemoth?"

Part Three

It is eye popping good news because the Insurance industry is operating out of legal and fair business boundaries ever since the first Cuomo loosened regulations with and for LICONY. Consumers are on the losing end every time when these lobbyists control politicians.

Good News Key Phrases

If America is going to draw the line somewhere when greedy financial corporations run amok a good place to draw it is where there are "national-security risks" like a landmark hotel near a Naval base. The Attorney General didn't draw the line upon signing a new lease for his ew offices in a Chinese owned building but the Navy ethically did and that, the Navy, is why we can sleep soundly at night.

"reviews acquisitions of American businesses by non-U.S. entities for national-security risks"

"It is not clear where Mr Wu is now."

"almost impossible rise from a tiny car insurance company to a global behemoth?"

"highest-profile" "target corruption"

"Mr Wu had been taken away from the Anbang Office Building on 8 June by police who arrived in two cars"

And this is last but not least eye popping

"Chinese business magazine Caijing had reported that Mr Wu was detained by authorities last week, but later deleted its article"

..as a certain NYC Mayor who owns a news corporation pulled a Chinese article his journalists were working that was going to expose corruption and suspended the journalists. The NY Post covered this too.

"The news organisation suspended Michael Forsythe, a prizewinning reporter, on Tuesday, according to a person familiar with the case. Another person said that when Bloomberg employees try to access Mr Forsythe on their system, a message says he is on “HR leave”.

The suspension came after three media groups, including the Financial Times, reported that Bloomberg had been accused of axing a story that alleged financial ties between one of China’s richest men and the family members of senior Communist party members.

Bloomberg declined to comment on the suspension, which was first reported in the New York Post."

Let's face it, we are ruled by a corrupt oligarchy which is big on real estate and money laundering. Bloomberg, Schwartzberg, Kushner, Speyer - the whole shitty bunch - are as criminal as Putin and are working with him and against us.

I would love to see that smirk slapped off Kushner's face when he gets sentenced to jail. I think DeB belongs in jail, too. He is as crooked as they come. Wouldn't it be nice if we had someone like Preet Bahrara for Mayor? Won't happen though. It'll be someone like Dirty Little Dan or another round of Wilhelm.

LANDLORD WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU ON THIS.

Anonymous said...

The landlord wants to harass every tenant in the project into moving out. That way it can have new tenants move in at a higher rent. There has to be a breaking point, but I don't know when. Maybe it will just be an off-campus dorm with every unit packed with students.

The landlord clearly despises the older tenants and wants to drive them to an early a death as possible. The constant noise, which is very hard on the nervous system and ability to sleep, is one way. Bicycles and small vehicles zooming around the grounds at high speed that could seriously injure or kill a senior are on the increase and are being ignored by management. The creme on the cake is the banishing of Associated and no replacement affordable full-service grocery store. Life is going to be absolute hell for seniors when Associated closes, especially when the curtailment of door-to-door taxi or delivery services goes into affect. Of course, management will find a way to keep those fucking moving trucks coming in and out. Seniors are going to have to order online (which some may not be able to do); rely on the Arab stores and drug stores for what measure of foods and household products they stock or simply starve to death. That would be Blackstone's ideal solution to the senior problem. The Final Solution.

Anonymous said...

4:11 A.M.:

Writing at that hour tells me that you are unable to sleep. I sympathize. And more.

The movies and concerts (some are concerts; other are opportunities for arrogant, musically-challenged idiots to become especially pernicious exhibitionists) are beyond "inconveniences."

They invite/impose: crowds of strangers, potentially dangerous; filth in many forms, including rotting food which will in turn invite smaller animals we don't want here necessarily (rats, bugs); congestion.

It is MUCH MORE SERIOUS FOR SOME OF US, THOUGH. Anyone living near to the Oval on those nights and days who: (a) is old; (b) is infirm; (c) recently experienced surgery or is on chemo; (d) is an infant or the parents of an infant; (3) is blessed with a sensitive nervous system which reacts in agony to noise, high decibel levels, crowding, continuous assault on any or all of the five senses . . . is in serious trouble.

Sleep deprivation, invasion of the body, literally, through the ears, is an assault and causes elevated blood pressure, serious digestive problems, confusion and resulting accidents. The noise itself has been demonstrated to be toxic to the human life form.

I have observed many, many parents seating their infants and toddlers on the poor trampled grass close to amplifiers so that their tiny children's hearing can be permanently damaged, and their senses, and sense of security, scrambled.

Whichever city agencies which decided to permit this, and go along with it, are 100% corrupt, dishonest, stupid, anti-life in any form. This is NOT an entertainment venue until such time as it is entirely demolished and a theater is built upon the poisoned land we already live upon.

Blackstone and the brain-dead despots before them had no right whatever to break into and enter people's home with disruption of life, mental activity, and bodily functions. The jackasses, young and old, single or married, "residents" or otherwise who "enjoy" and advocate this literal, continuing assault, are in the majority of brain-impaired and mind-numbed creatures this society has produced.

A security guard years ago told me that he, like me, came to hate and dread warm weather because it caused so much larger, louder, crowded misery.

NY DAILY NEWS HEADLINE 2015 Real estate company co-owned by husband of consumer affairs commissioner tries to force tenants out of NYC apartments

http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/real-estate-company-improperly-force-ny-tenants-article-1.2397580

"A real estate company co-owned by the husband of the city's consumer affairs commissioner tried to improperly force dozens of tenants out of Upper East Side apartments they were converting to condos, the state attorney general charged Wednesday.

Commissioner Julie Menin's husband, Bruce, and his co-investors agreed to settle the allegations by paying a $1.7 million fine, AG Eric Schneiderman announced Wednesday.

Julie Menin runs the city agency that protects New Yorkers from scam artists. Her husband and his partners bought the fully occupied building at 165 E. 66th St. building in 2013 for $230 million and soon after filed plans to convert it to condos."

http://www.nytimes.com/1999/02/14/style/weddings-bruce-menin-and-julie-jacobs.html
WEDDINGS; Bruce Menin and Julie Jacobs
"The bride is the development manager and the bridegroom is the president and a principal of Crescent Heights Investments, a national real estate development company. The couple work in the New York and Los Angeles offices."

The article says the Menin's renovated apartments get up to $25,000 per month. Money is more important to some people, even those who are exceptionally wealthy already, then basic human rights for all.

The former consumer affairs commissioner whose job it was to protect New Yorkers from scam artists while using lease-scams inserting clauses as PCVST saw here in 2013, is now the commissioner of Media & Entertainment who took the $10 million from Blackstone and is partnered with Blackstone is a real estate developer / landlord whose husband, in 2015, got a small slap on the wrist cushy settlement on his (and hers) attempts to harass rent stabilized tenants out of their apartments so the Menins could convert their buildings to luxury condos. It is pure greed - taking away a basic human right from fellow human beings by harassment is as low as you can get. Every human has not only the right to a home, but rights of a safe, peaceful enjoyment of that home. It is this practice of harassing lesser wealthy out of their homes that is causing Inequality and Homelessness Crisis. There is no place in a civilized society or a progressive administration for this prejudice.

The Daily News coverage on De Blasio's Commissioner has a sickening photo of proud De Blasio condoning his real estate developer / landlord commissioners work. So it comes as no surprise she is in a dubious partnership with infamous Blackstone while she is one of De Blasio's Commissioners. Instead of being terminated for bad acts, or conflict of interest, etc she gets a favorable tiny fine and a job at city Hall to further wreak havoc on rent stabilized tenants.

On June 16, StuyTown Property Services and Associated Supermarket agreed to a lease extension for the grocer’s 14th Street location.
“We are reassured by this agreement that the residents of PCVST will have uninterrupted access to a grocer as the retail food landscape is expected to change on 14th street” said Rick Hayduk, CEO and General Manager of StuyTown Property Services. “The owners of Associated have been long-term partners of the community and we’re grateful for their cooperation through this process” Hayduk added.

Unbelievable, but believable. So Blackstone and Rick (hi!) were ready to get Associated out (and really ready), but what happened? The grocer taking over, Morton Williams, decided upon learning that other stores would be opening up right across from 14th NOT to sign a lease and Blackstone and Rick were left with an empty space that no grocer wanted. So what does Blackstone and Rick do? Rick writes the above letter!

WE SEE THROUGH THAT and don't take your spin seriously. Sorry, it's SO OBVIOUS, it's actually infuriating. You could say the truth: "We were left with an empty space so we decided to give the space back to Associated."

Apparently we do not have anymore laws against monopolies. Amazon just bought Whole Foods for $13,000,000,000. One devious company just swallowed another devious company. The result is sharp drops in all other grocery stores, even evil Walmart shares dropped (haha). Soon there will be no supermarkets to visit because the only access to food will be online and controlled by a few. Yes, in America, we are on our way to having access to food controlled because law makers are allowing monopolistic unfair business practices and corrupt politicians are allowing entire neighborhoods like Seaport to become a grocery-store desert. A look at today's millionaires and billionaires is a veritable who's who list of former and past American politicians.

Berkshire Hathaway, Blackstone are hoarding the American housing stock.
Warren Buffet bought overprocessed-food giant Kraft Heinz (Heinz is Massachusetts Senator / Secretary of State John Kerry's family company).

"Music to Buffett’s ears, because a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission late Wednesday showed that he controls 616.17 million Kraft shares, or 50.6% of the shares outstanding."

http://www.marketwatch.com/story/warren-buffett-is-4-billion-richer-after-kraft-heinzs-merger-bid-for-unilever-2017-02-17

The establishment American politicians are allowing their friends to hoard, dominate and control food and shelter. If establishment career American Politicians are still clueless and in denial that they caused the country the current Oval Office messy crisis then there is no hope for the establishment to correct itself by first dumping their friends who have serious mental health problems as control issues and hoarding. A look at newbies campaigning to see if they are backed by old establishment will determine whether or not the newbie gets our votes.

The manager (Rick) didn't do a damned thing. They kicked Associated out, but karma came back to haunt them when Morton bailed. Do not think for one second that they aren't actively looking for a replacement tenant. Once a new tenant is lined up, Associated will be kicked to the curb again.

Anonymous said...

Rick is just a slimy schmuck, exactly the type of person Blackstone wants to run this place into the ground. He doesn't give a rat's ass about the convenience and welfare of the tenants, but couldn't let that space go empty. He was not doing anything "nice" for the tenants and Associated. He was trying to tamp down the derision that came when it was learned that neither Blackstone nor Morton Williams had done adequate due diligence concerning the arrival of Trader Joe's. We heard it was coming into the space where the PO used to be years ago. Same as the asshole developer who is building on that space was so anxious to break ground and get the stinky condos built, he didn't do due diligence and find out that there were underground streams that caused problems.

We are stuck in this City with these slimy, corrupt assholes. We have a mayor who narrowly avoided indictment for corruption on technicalities. DeBlasio and several others (including Dirty Dan) should be in jail. The City is strangled by ugly, overly-tall monstrosities (rather like DeB himself) that are nothing more than money-laundering vehicles. From the WH down to City Hall and the City Council there is a culture of corruption and criminality.

As for Rick, he just does as he is told. If BS told him to turn off all the the water and electricity and leave it off, he would. They tell him to continue with those execrable "concerts" which are an absolute assault and insult to the senses because he is told to. It's his job and what they pay him for. When it comes to running the property as a pleasant, livable, rules-enforced entity, he cannot do that. He has his orders. Just as PS has its orders to ignore all infractions from dog shit to speeding bikes to any other life-negating activity on the property. The Projects is too good a label for this dump.

Per Yoav Gonen at NY Post, City "quietly" starts up construction work at Rivington.

This is not a coincidence that at the same time Blackstone quietly moves ST security deposits from Citibank to Chase.

It is not a coincidence that Citibank is holding money for the developer slated to build hotel condos on PCV site while security deposits for PCV remain at Citibank.

The timing of quiet DOB construction at Rivington and quiet money moving between Citibank and Chase (who both are invested in developing PCVST also with Bank of New York) is not a coincidence.

It is not a coincidence the same lobbyist works for Rivington, Lowline, ST, Airbnb.

It is not a coincidence November 2015 the corrupt City government lifted the Rivington deal so the investors (listed in below link Rubin, Landau)can reap windfalls and at the same time Citibank records show an ACTIVE account from the PCV developer beginning November 2015. All of the illicit activities in November 2015 are not a coincidental.

The Associated lease is for a short period of time so that the space continues to bring in $ for Blackstone until another place steps in. Do not be surprised if and when Whole Foods opens its smaller concept store that is designed for millennial twenty-somethings. Whole Foods is already in business with Blackstone leasing spaces and Whole Foods survives just fine next to Trader Joes. The Whole Foods smaller store concept will fit in the Associated space and is called Whole Foods 365. Whole Foods and Blackstone just need the Mayor to clear the way for them.

When did we have three supermarkets in this complex alone? We had DAgastinos and it was shut down to be replaced by a shitty health club, that few people use (from what I've heard). We used to have supermarkets close to the complex on 14th Street. We had Red Apple on 14th Street (south side) and in the space where the Post Office is now, it was Gristedes (before that Pioneer) and then became Duane Reade, which got shifted around the corner to make room for the new PO. We have never had three supermarkets actually in the complex. I don't count Gracefully because it is anything but a supermarket. It's just an overpriced little specialty place. As for people not going to starve for lack of Associated, some people may actually go hungry (not the same as starving) because Associated has very good sales and basic prices are pretty moderate. Seniors love Associated because of the friendly staff and the way its management will go out of its way to accommodate them. A lot of people who are not seniors and do not live in Stuyvesant Town shop there because of its low prices and great sales. If you don't like Associated, don't shop there. Choice is something we all need and without Associated the choices are going to be very few for people who need a full service grocery store without the exorbitant pricing of Gristedes and Gracefully (which should be renamed "Graceless."

Kushner is in deep deep debt to Russian oligarchs for his debt-laden 666 Fifth Avenue, which used to be called the Tishman Building, strangely enough. Makes me wonder if there's some significance to the "666" number! ;-) Both Trump and Kushner are scared shitless by something that the Russians have on them and it will be interesting to see what it is all about at the end of the day. I've noticed that Kushner always has a slightly nervous sneer/smirk on his ugly little face. They're gonna get him! I believe there were 3 supermarkets in the Stuytown perimeter at any one time, however very briefly, but you've left out the original Gristede's that was in ST at 17/18th St (roughly where the Walgreens is now). That Gristedes predates the ownership by John Catsimatidis Red Apple Group, and they were there concurrently with D'Ags. And very early on, there was a supermarket in ST on E14th near Avenue C, in a space that eventually was used as a Management office, and eventually a daycare center. That supermarket only operated through the early '50's (if I'm remembering correctly).

Of course the current Gristedes on 1St ave (20/21st) was originally a Sloans Supermarket (formerly an automobile dealership), and Sloans was in the space on 14th St, currently the Post Office.

New (YEAH RIGHT) apartment looked all cool and it is the hottest fucking flat we've ever lived in. The air conditioning units are new, and sound like jet engines and do nothing to cool off any of the rooms. YES WE WANT A REFUND AND WOULD VACATE this month if we could. Shoulda read the Yelp.

$$$$$ deposited into our corrupt NYC Mayor's slush funds work magic clearing paths for bribe-paying REBNY predators taking EVERYTHING they want. They give our corrupt NYC Mayor $$$$$, publicly claim support for his Pre-K agenda, quietly tell him precisely what they want from him and Presto! All obstacles and barriers, including people, standing between the bribe-giving REBNY predators and EVERYTHING they want will disappear.

My question is has anyone contacted the Stuyvesant Town Tenants association regarding the lack of enforcement of the dog lanyard rule? I can promise you that, although extremely engrossed in tenant endeavors, they will not take too kindly to this. Furthermore, the last thing that Rick Hayduk wants to do is answer to the STPCVTA, and by extension little Dan (who while small in stature, is a titan in his advocacy for the stytown tenant). However, if nobody informs the TA, then nothing will get done. I agree that we don't want to needlessly bog down the always busy TA, but lanyard issue is one which impacts all tenants: dog owners and non-dog owners alike.

As always, remember to pay your TA dues (a donation to little Dan's office wouldn't hurt either).

Monday Afternoon Blue Tag-Lanyard Dog Check Update:

47 dogs observed before I saw even one Blue Tag-Lanyard on a canine.
I did see however four mounds of freshly laid dog sh*t in the vicinity of the Oval.
Dogs range in size from tiny Pekinese to GIANT Doberman ( horse? ).
Nice enforcement of the rules, Rick!
Is the dog sh*t another Oval "Amenity", Rick?
Way to go!
What a disgrace.

They know. They don't care.

Speaking of dog crap, I saw (unpicked, of course) dog crap between the small guard house and one of those plastic signs that heralds the cafe and the views one sees. The crap is now dark brown and one can't tell it from dirt on the nearby path.

BTW, more and more I am seeking a place of quiet. Though it is claimed to be quiet for New Yorkers, the truth is that the outside of this place is loud and getting louder. Some Central Park! The quietest place: my apartment!

The latest from the TA is that they want to hear nice, positive stories about this community. So stop it with the complaints. Talk about trees and flowers and how much we all love one another because.... Well, you know. Just don't talk about dog crap and urine streams, speeding motorized delivery people, speeding club cars that go which ever way, AirBnb, etc.... You get the message.

noise noise noise. that's my post for yelp and google review. and also our ac is deafening.

We all have to meet in the Oval (what's left of it) and sing Kumbaya. That will be followed by a hearty rendition of "Hail to the Chief" as we pledge allegiance to Rick and the shitty TA.

Anonymous said...

That is confusing. Since when it is the job of a tenant association to promote a property for a landlord? does the property have a tenant association that represents the tenants or just the one that promotes the landlord?

Anonymous said...

Sounds like the TA is making a preemptive PR strike before some truths hit the press about what really goes on here. Remember when not long ago, on this blog a former employee posted a comment saying some really bad and dark things are going down here.

Anonymous said...

I agree it is weird to see the TA in the past week posting announcements on behalf of landlord. The age of Trump. Everything topsy turvy.

Anonymous said...

The TA needs to help out its pals at management with all the truthful negatives being posted on here, FB, Yelp, etc. I would actually like the idea of a positive FB thread, if it wasn't so obvious that the TA was in bed with management, and they actually did what a TA is supposed to do.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>The age of Trump.<<

In this case, Trump had nothing to do with it. The TA has been the TA for a long time now. Go back years, and see the same accurate complaints.

The TA has been in cahoots with management since Blackstone took over. They along with Garodnick and DeBlasio pushed the deal. At that time there was probably an agreement made to make the TA a parasitic arm of management. I never heard of a TA answering a resident complaint with "e-mail the property manager(in this case Hayduk). They have not been all that effective for years, but they were never an arm of management before Blackstone took over. Really shady dealing and sad for Pig Stuy tenants.

Today my laundry room reeked of pot. Unbelievable how these lowlifes here get away with murder.

"but they were never an arm of management before Blackstone took over"

I agree that they are the functional equivalent of an arm of management, but, like STR indicated, they have been useless for quite a few years now. I would even go as far as to label them (at times) a malevolent force in the lives of tenants in this housing project. On a positive note, at least they're not wasting our time with those inane meetings anymore (circa condo conversion days).

The TA became an official arm of property services management when they partnered with Tishman Speyer partner Brookfield in 2011. Brookfield and Tishman Speyers are real estate partners in business deals all around the world.

The TA's demeanor and public statements and actions have been different since Blackstone came. No comparison. Until now I never saw them communicate verbatim text to residents from management. Or ask for Yelp style reviews to be posted by residents.

Anonymous said...

I agree with 3:37. I have never seen the TA to be so cozy with management as they are now. They never responded to an e-mail or call with "e-mail Rick Hayduk or other manager." It is as if they do not exist anymore as an entity. They have morphed with management. I did not pay dues this year, for what?

Anyone see the latest missive from the TA?

Let the fun begin.

"Today my laundry room reeked of pot. Unbelievable how these lowlifes here get away with murder."

I hope you called PS and asked them to look at the lobby cameras to see who was going in and out of the laundry room. It is illegal to smoke ANYTHING in the laundry rooms, let alone pot!

I didn't know the TA asked for reviews from residents. Where did you see that?

Bumped into our bro bro boys today on way to work. Seems they're moving out, they are so stoked (his words) to leave for a doorman, a gym in the building and a closer train. LOLLS Even the bros want better.

Hahahaha.... the dormification of this property is complete. These new layouts are the exact layouts many developers across the country are using when creating dorms.

I expect that they will not update the room counts for MCI purposes, and I can only wonder how long it is before something tragic (think London apartment building) happens here.

Anyone see the latest missive from the TA?

No. Do tell.

Last night my bathroom reeking from pot, drifting into my apartment hall and the bedroom. Tried to source it out but even though I went to the apartment I thought it was coming from there was no pot smell in the hall outside their apartment.

Will discover the source eventually but I wonder how long it will take before someone with respiratory issues or infant children will wind up in Beth Israel after being continually subjected to this noxious stink from the potheads.
One can only call security and document the time, date, if they showed, etc.
Great lawsuit if continual intrusion leads to hospitalization.

3:47 P.M.: Re the goddamned marijuana: More can be done. Post multiple signs on every floor from which you believe the poison may be emanating. Print up letters to either slip under apartment doors, or post them (tape them) right up in plain sight on the doors.

Include in your signs and letters: warnings, outrage, etc. to the defective idiots engaging in this behavior AND a plea for help and unity from innocent residents. Craft it so that other residents can know they are "we," "us" fighting back against sick cretins.

Continue your detective work and when you believe you have located the source, KNOCK/BANG VERY LOUDLY upon the door until the dope/s respond. If they are truly innocent, apologize profusely AND ASK FOR THEIR HELP IN LOCATING AND STOPPING THE POTHEADS.

Please, please, please: do not be deterred by the suggestions and warnings from Blackstone's minions. They are to be ignored if they will not stop the jackasses from hurting you, your family and your neighbors.

Re: Pothead:

Discovered that the neighbor with an apartment caddycorner to mine, on my floor, was smoking pot out of his open bathroom window! The smell drifting into my kitchen, LR etc. made it seem like he was actually sitting inside my apartment At one point I actually saw the smoke coming out of the bathroom window.
Am thinking of leaving a notice under his door but he already knows it's me that's complaining
(loudly).
Re: the suggestions above, two of the four apartments at the other end of the floor also have pot smokers and I couldn't even dream of getting their support.

We had a pot apartment a couple of years ago. Three guys. Tried everything so the smell wouldn't drift into the hall and into adjoining apartments. they were friendly and thought
we were ok with it as long as it didn't come into our apartment.
Push came to shove about a year later when we started calling security and I threatened to call the 13th Pct (who BTW offered to send someone over to monitor drug sales in this apartment)
One guy actually looked like a zombie. His brain was so wracked from this (illegal) drug - no medical issues here.

another downstairs apartment a couple of years ago populated by an NYU student from outside the country and his stupid smart-ass med student roommate. They had parties 3-4x/week, where his friends would sit around smoking pot. When I went down there and told them I was calling the 13th Pct. the med student spat at me - "pot is legal." I had to remind him it's not legal unless you're using it for medical reasons.

This place is unlivable now for many, many reasons, as we all know. As I write this they're starting to ready the apartment underneath me for a new renter. Every year, above an below
noise in, noise out. Never ending. You really do have to be hard of hearing to make it in ST.

BTW: Yesterday a woman sunbathing on her stomach topless. I wondered how she was going to manage it when she had to turn over. I fear, pretty soon they will allow topless sunbathing in the oval. Make it an event.
