These fucking assholes will stoop to anything to save a dime. They care NOTHING about the health and wellbeing of tenants or anybody else for that matter. If Goradnick and the TA don't start looking into their practices, then I can only assume that they are taking kickbacks from these despicable crooks.
So we can expect they'll be lacing our rent checks with this stuff right?
That same company was here doing the slowest work ever in Peter Cooper after Sandy hit us. They must have some helluva connection and long standing contract with some connected people to keep getting away with crimes and keep getting big money-making contracts for work.
New commissioner of DHCR is a Mitt Romney-esque ex-global private equity fund take-over specialist. Cuomo just sent a strong message to tenants everywhere the state priority is luxury developer/RE/Wall Street takeovers and not keeping all tenants in their NY homes. This is not good for tenant issues that need DHCR assistance against dirty landlords.
5:04 Garodnick and TA don't need to "start" looking into their practices because Garodnick and the TA have been in-the-know on their practices all along for years now.
But the DOH is on it, right?
LOL
and the HD
From what I understand they are renovating a janitors closet? Where will it end? More bunkers, bunkers, bunkers. I know of air rights being sold, have CW secured the new subterranean rights below? Never too low to go.
Brown water in the bathroom AGAIN.
The pols could have implemented protections for the property and residents with moratoriums and new rules, regulations to protect multi-family housing that goes under pressure from servicers. It is their fault this beautiful property and community is no longer / never again.
Can't wait for Preet to go after Cuomo. I wish he'd look at what's going on here too. We are crime victims and I mean that literally. WE ARE CRIME VICTIMS!
our upstairs neighbor is also hellish nightmare. Why don't people call 311 and a lawyer - I'm telling you, money talks.

Darryl Towns is commissioner of the DHCR. Towns is a former assemblyman, not a financial services guy. And Bill Thompson is chairman until 2018. So I have no idea what you are referring to.
Don't know if you get the same news in NYC that we get up here. 5:51 might be talking about this.

Jamie Rubin has been appointed as the Commissioner of Homes and Community Renewal. Currently, Rubin is the Executive Director of the Governor’s Office of Storm Recovery, which was created by Governor Cuomo in August 2013 to oversee New York State’s recovery from storms Sandy, Irene and Lee.
Can our friends in Long Island tell us how this guy did on the recovery from these storms? I hear they are still struggling and going under.
These companies PAL and Hillman probably have more hidden under the cover than made the press. Be careful!
Well, PAL should be okay now, and there's nothing on Hillman. But I know what you mean. Recently we've been finding out a lot about the corruption that goes on, politically and otherwise, and that touches local, state and even national levels. It really is disgusting, but probably one of the major reasons that the average Joe and Jane is ignored in this country.
And then we have the contracted workers who do jobs around here. How many of them are "illegal" and not in any union? I'm not concerned about which country they are from or their immigration status, but I am concerned whether they are doing professional work.
STR - I agree. In my opinion, the "average Joe and Jane" are more ethical and wise than the majority of the "average highly-schooled politicians". Neither more money or more schooling equals more wisdom and more ethics. A politician is no greater or lesser than "average Jane / Joe" by virtue of the job they hold. What makes them greater or lesser is what they do with the job they hold. Currently, the majority of politicians are lesser than the average Joe/Jane. More and more we are hearing from The People, and hearing more wisdom, more common sense, more ethics from the People than from the politicians.
I would say we are seeing a new time, in a time when the people are superior and most of the politicians are average. In record numbers, we did not vote, we did not take action to keep them in their job because they do not deserve their job and if government were a private sector they would have long ago been fired. Their performance falls between below average and failing the People.
The People may be by one definition, size, where the average belie, but all across the country we are seeing the truth is the People have more heart, soul, common sense, wisdom than the government. We have an average government doing the leg and foot work of the corporations.
The People are demanding an above average, superior government to do the work of the People.
Yes, I would go so far as to say it is the government, the politicians, who are performing average and failing. I am not condemning all politicians. Some, a very few, are taking the hard road, doing the work for the People.
The facts:
Mr. President, it's an extraordinary fact, between 1985 and 2013, the bottom 90% of our people lost $10.7 trillion in wealth that it otherwise would have had if the distribution of wealth had remained the same level as it was in 1985.
We had the same distribution of wealth, the bottom 90% would have had close to $11 trillion more wealth. Meanwhile, the top .1% experienced an $8 trillion increase in wealth as the distribution of wealth became increasingly unequal. What a phenomenon. Huge transfer of wealth from working people to the millionaires and billionaires.

I believe I may have posted a link to that exact article a couple of weeks ago. Dan has already struck.
It is far beyond irresponsible to waste the energy and create the pollution that will occur in tearing down perfectly good buildings on Vanderbilt, replacing them with these ego-driven tallest-in-the-worldish towers placed around known terrorist target - our beloved Grand Central. City planning is out of its mind on this one.
Not sure I agree PAL should be ok now, I mean it is not like one can free-will join and un-join the mob.
That Daily News report did not indicate that PAL itself had anything to do with the mob, however. It was the headline that provided an overall canopy.
Mob or no Mob, this is how PAL operates
http://7online.com/news/ceiling-collapse-traps-construction-workers-in-mineola/354537/
The concerning factor being safety -- of the workers who were given no (zero) information) after being exposed to toxins and the cause of the ceiling collapse.
Residents should demand to be fully informed of any and all possible, if even just remote possibility, of toxin exposure to us, our kids, our infants, the air, land, water each and every time toxins are dealt with in PCV ST.

When it comes to terrorist targets, I sometimes wonder exactly whose side these politicians and their developer friends are on. I don't think they are on our side. Maybe there's something to the theory that 9/11 was an inside job. Considering that very few of the oligarchs and miscellaneous billionaire bastards who are buying space in these dick-shaped monstrosities will actually reside or even spend any time in them, I wouldn't be surprised at anything that could happen. The people who would be destroyed by another terrorist attack would be just ordinary folks like those who perished on 9/11. Kinda makes me wonder.
CW/CR doesn't care about the tenants and workers being exposed to toxic substances. They dug up toxic soil to build the bunker, didn't they? This is an outfit without conscience or principle. They don't care one iota about the damage they do to people's lives today or in future generations. Money is their god and they will sacrifice anybody at the altar of their god.
Confirmed the devices they used to measure air toxins at bunker site were placed high up on rooftops in wind tunnel of 17th street where toxins released into the air by the construction would have been lowest in concentration -- instead of having the devices on the ground and under the windows of residents where the dust and debris was entering their apartments through cracks and crevices to give an accurate reading of exposure to tenants. They owe all residents an answer on this.
