I Think We're Fucked

That's what this says. Basically.

I could be reading it wrong. First I have to trudge to the compost place and return my plastic bags.

Link changed as they were asking, ultimately, for money. Boo-hiss.

NOW, when someone leaves Associated with items in their hands and NO bag, did they steal it? Nobody is going to check receipts at the door unless they install one of those detectors at the exit door. Boy, will that thing be constantly going off. It's going to cause more problems than what's it worth. AND, all these plastic bags are soo thin that they have to be doubled. Are we going to get charged 10 cents then? This is such a scam. Bye the way, welcome back STR!

I'm buying the t-shirt bags in bulk and will take them with me and then re-use them as garbage bags just like I do now. I hope I can prevail upon the cashiers to pack them for me, otherwise I will have to hold up the line doing it myself.

Maybe Associated should just use paper bags like so many other supermarkets are instead of forcing us to use plastic. Not using plastic bags is a GOOD idea, but it behooves Associated to use paper.

3:16 pm: they are going to charge for paper bags, just the same as plastic bags.

Yeah, if I can wrap up my non-edibles in paper bags, but they charge 5c for paper bags too. So I'm left with some decisions.

Better yet, I could eat at that fancy Italian place near 5th Ave. I could eat lunch and dinner there and not have to worry about carrying disposable items. Wait...that costs some money....

Why should they charge for paper? TJ's and Whole Foods doesn't.

NYC sucks people. Face it.

Probably so, STR, that we are all fucked.
"America’s on an irreversible decline and no one in Washington seems to care . . . God help us.”

Take them down the sinkhole with us then....call them out on it.

“The Confessions of Congressman X.”

"An anonymous congressman has dropped a bombshell election-year book that confirms why Americans hate their national government and have rallied to anti-establishment presidential candidates like Donald Trump.
‘We’re running a f—ing casino:’ Politician tells all in manifesto

The veteran politician lays bare a rotten and corrupt Congress enslaved by lobbyists and interested only in re-election in an anonymous, 65-page manifesto called “The Confessions of Congressman X.”

“Like most of my colleagues, I promise my constituents a lot of stuff I can never deliver,” he admits. “But what the hell? It makes them happy hearing it . . . My main job is to keep my job.”

The House member — a Democrat who is either still in Congress or served sometime over the past two decades — says more time is spent fund-raising than reading bills and calls Washington a “sinkhole of leeches.”

Trader's Joe's tries to still say they are an American private company, organic and California based. However since 1979 it is owned by German billionaires who have been exposed in the Panama Papers for many offshore accounts.

Are the owners of Associated billionaires? Do they have offshore accounts? Are they in the Panama Papers?

Wikipedia
Trader Joe's is an American privately held chain of specialty grocery stores based in Monrovia, California, in Greater Los Angeles. As of April 22, 2016, Trader Joe's had 453 stores, approximately half of which are in California, with the heaviest concentration in Southern California. The company also has locations in 40 other states and in Washington, D.C.[1] It is a market leader in organic and fresh food groceries in the United States.[4]

Trader Joe's was founded by Joe Coulombe and has been owned since 1979 by a German family trust established by Aldi Nord's owner Theo Albrecht.[5] The chain has offices in Monrovia, California, and Boston, Massachusetts.[6]

The individual groups were originally owned and managed by the brothers. Karl Albrecht (d. 2014) retained ownership of Aldi Süd, and with a personal wealth of €17.2 billion, making him the richest man in Germany, while the co-owners of Aldi Nord, Berthold and Theo Albrecht Jr., close behind at €16 billion. Dieter Schwarz, owner of Lidl and Kaufland came in third, with a fortune of €11.5 billion.[9]

Aldi's German operations consist of Aldi Nord's 35 individual regional companies with about 2,500 stores in western, northern, and Eastern Germany, and Aldi Süd's 32 regional companies with 1,600 stores in western and southern Germany.[citation needed]

Internationally, Aldi Nord operates in Denmark, France, the Benelux countries, the Iberian Peninsula, and Poland, while Aldi Süd operates in Ireland, United Kingdom, Hungary, Switzerland, Australia, Austria and Slovenia (Aldi Süd operates as Hofer within the latter two countries mentioned). Both Aldi Nord and Aldi Süd also operate in the United States; Aldi Nord is owner of the Trader Joe's chain, while Aldi Süd operates as "Aldi".

In December 2002, a survey conducted by the German market research institute Forsa found 95% of blue-collar workers, 88% of white-collar workers, 84% of public servants, and 80% of self-employed Germans shop at Aldi.[10] One of Aldi's direct competitors internationally is Lidl.[citation needed]

I'd love to know who Congressman X is. What's the betting he is from New York? As far as I'm concerned, all politicians are shit and deserved to be flushed down the sewer.
