More MCIs On the Way

From "Peter Stuyvesant" of the TA STPCV Facebook group: "Management has informed the TA that they have applied for more MCIs, some of which are from CWCapital and some of which are for work Blackstone has done. We don't have all the details yet, but the MCIs are for intercoms (PCV only), water heaters, ADA ramps (2 buildings), and waterproofing of the exterior. As always, the TA will investigate the MCIs and ask for an extension to respond to DHCR."

What did you think? No MCIs because Blackstone is nice?

Let the fun begin! Again and again and again....

One wonders what the breaking point is for your average New Yorker? I'm not just talking about MCIs, but a while battery of things you MUST get or buy. Maybe the average New Yorker, the real middle class, is a thing of the past. Maybe it has been beaten for so long that the breaking point is gone and servility is the name of the only game if you are middle class.

I am starting to get really worried about my rent constantly going up. I am RS,
but I have gotten only 1 raise (2.5%) in the last 10 years. How are we going to afford to live here anymore if they constantly MCI us to death along with DHCR annual rent increases? I think over half my income goes to rent. It's getting to the point where I am starting to get frightened by all of this. The Landlord has
to take responsibility for some of this. I hope the TA will help all of us somehow.

Middle class? I am starting to fall into the category of upper lower class!

Stuy Town Reporter said...

What I say goes for the upper lower classes, too. Though if you make a certain amount of less money, you should look into SCRIE if you are a senior or close to being one.

I had a feeling that MCIs would be upcoming for the new intercoms, which we really did not need. No surprise, despite Rick's folksy PR, residents should realize that Blackstone is no benevolent landlord, is in it for profit only. Maybe this will alert more residents to the true character of this management.

Dan Garodnick and the TA will address all of these concerns in the next TA meeting. I assure you that the combination of Garodnick's dedication to the welfare of the Stuytown Tenant and the voracity and influence of the STPCVTA will neutralize any nefarious forces seeking to undermine the tenant population of STPCV. They simply will not tolerate any spurious MCI'S which the loving Blackstone (and their "patient capital") may try to implement. Rest easy, we're in good hands.

SCRIE? I'm 20 years from that, and I am starting to suffer NOW!

I had a very good laugh. Thanks!

Dan hears you! Another 200,000 has been allocated to the service roads! This should set your minds at ease.

make no mistake people, this new management and Rick are no friend to us. Watch and weep.

As Bloomberg said, if you can't afford the city, move!

As Blackstone says! move!

You are not very confident in them, are you STR?

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Yes, but there are new tenants who can afford the new rents and more. The other day I saw a young woman buy a bunch of groceries at Gracefully, and then take out a credit card which paid for everything. This is no an isolated incident. I see many people shopping at Gracefully for more expensive items--and paying with the credit card. They don't seem to care and have a worry-free look on their faces.

The chumps are the ones who must be careful what they pay for and how much. That's why this 5 cent per plastic bag is important to some and not to others.

I'm kinda a chump, btw. So if you are, too, welcome to the club.

I think most people don't make that kind of money. Instead, they have bills up the
$%!@$ and don't think of the consequences now, because they "have to live life".
This is the "I don't care" attitude we face today. That's one of the reasons why
this world is in the state it is in today. NOBODY CARES ANYMORE. It's like a free-for-all at times. Look at all the gun violence in Chicago today. Murders are at an all time high and the ones pulling the trigger could care less.

I'm a chump too. I am real RS and a senior and my rent is well over half of my monthly income. However, because my adjusted income is just a few dollars over the maximum for scree, I am stuck. I think they want to drive seniors to suicide.

The thing is, and it's important, we have to fight and be vigilant for our own status. That's why city "rules" are so important. I have to say that I'm tired of fighting, but occasionally I don't give in and do partake of the fight. Perhaps it's just my mood, but the city is going to crap, not in the old-fashioned way, which meant a diminishing of services and more crime, but in a new "cleaner" way where money rules above all else. (Of course, money always ruled, but now it's out in the open and brazen.) As best we can we have to take advantage of the "clean" way, while still keeping up the fight to make the middle class, the real middle class, viable and happy.

I had to laugh at the posting which states that Dan Garodnick and the TA will take care of the MCIs. The TA is utterly useless. They are the ones that pushed the Blackstone deal on us and expressed their love affair with the new management. They have done nothing to address any of the quality of life issues here, including illegal tenants, dorm apartments, and lax enforcement of rules.

Anonymous said...

3:28 PM that post you are referring was sarcasm. Surprised you didn't realize that.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Oh, yeah, heavy sarcasm! LOL!

If the TA is serious about "helping" us out, they need to have the MCI's spread out evenly in terms of the new room count. Why should I pay the same amount in an MCI when there are apartments with the same layout that are now a converted 2 bedroom? The room count here has become a real issue, especially with MCI's.

Anonymous said...

You here that Dan? MCI's spread out evenly in terms of the new room count!!!!

Anonymous said...

9 43 i said even out or similar words to a MR neighbor who said why, our rent is not 'even' out. man, this place is angry and divided.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, this place blows!

Anonymous said...

What about the dorm apartments? The ones with all the undergrads stuffed in them should be made to pay an MCI per room. Per every illegal, more than three unrelated bodies squeezed in room.

Anonymous said...

I hate those damn intercoms. the principle is absurd--if I don't want it and had no say in its installation, why the heck am I legally required to pay for something. Because NYC politicians are corrupt. That is why.

"9 43 i said even out or similar words to a MR neighbor who said why, our rent is not 'even' out. man, this place is angry and divided. "
I have to laugh at these idiots who pay MR and then get "angry" at rent increases. If you think you're paying too much (and you ARE, you are, my stupid friends) why the heck did you rent the apartment. The demand for MR apartments is the only thing allowing the landlord to charge you those very same exorbitant rents. Fools.

Anonymous said...

you all can't prove we're illegal.

Anonymous said...

the MR tenant not complaining about the rent increase. She complain that you not paying enough dude. some of us pay our share, but you should too.

Anonymous said...

"you all can't prove we're illegal."

Whattya say, Rick? Is that you?

Anonymous said...

Most of the tenants that pay MR and express dismay over the rent increases are out of here in a year or two. Management has it made. They then rent those MR apartments to a bunch of students or to short term renters. Most of the families that I see around here are tourists. Even if there was no demand for MR apartments, Blackstone could fill them as dorms and hotels. That is exactly what they are doing when the MR families are priced out.
