Yelp Review Not Meant to Be Properly Seen

The 17th of this month, September:

>>As my grandmother had said--she still lives in ST--the new management will show it's true colors.
And, they have.
They are still renting to students--how do they plan on making this a family community with students living here?  People with kids do not want to hear all night parties.  The students/and younger renters start their parties at 10 PM.  Under NYC law that is a violation of the new noise codes.
They are still renovating empty apartments and converting the living rooms to a "den".  How is that even legal?  Management is packing more people into apartments they what they were designed for.
Which apts. will be used for lottery applicants?  Management never said how they will decide that.
They are now going after MCIs which are from 2 years ago.
There are more than 2,000 dogs now and many of the dogs are over the 50 lbs limit.
Dog owners do not pick up after their dogs after dark.  That is obvious come daylight.
Many of the dog owners are not using legal leashes--6 feet only.

Grandma was correct.  They are now showing their true colors.<<

There are more like these in the "not recommended" category.

I would say the review is not completely accurate. Dog owners of STPCV tend to pick up after their dogs, day or night, though there are some, a minority and some could be from outside, that do not or that leave residue behind. Noise... well, it depends. Right now I am free of disruptive noise. Can't speak for you.

There is, however, little enforcement of the "rules" that I see. The general manager is more concerned with how nice the Oval grass area looks than anything else, it seems. Right now the Oval Fountain is getting an "upgrade." Why? Well, every new owner decides something must to done to make the property his and more "beautiful." It is BS of the worst kind.

I believe Blackstone thinks anything between 14th and 23rd streets and 1st Ave and Ave C is theirs. The bicycle situation and the dogs over 50 pounds are a continual problem that management doesn't seem to be serious about. Not serious enough to get tough.

Oh, and I saw this morning a "resident" hover around the entrance way without a key card. First at the left side, then at the right where the phone is. She waited until someone who had a key card used the door to open it. After that, she was inside. I looked and waited on purpose. I got the confirmation I needed, of course.

I just left my building this morning on the main entrance and witnessed 1 bag of garbage and a plate of open French fries. This is who we are renting to? You hear this Rick? Embarrassed and disgusted to live hear. I have had it!

Hey, more bike lanes being added on E15th street. Everyone happy? MORE CONGESTION.
That's we need. Who cares about the Homeless, right? See where this city's priorites are? Just like the on that blocks the sidewalk on the SE corner of 14th street. What a disgrace!

Management is concerned about the bottom line: money. Yeah, they would like residents to obey the "rules," but will management become hardcore and throw them out if certain tenants don't follow the rules? I'm still waiting.

Someone will be getting killed by these bikes. They fly through the complex and its not just delivery people. Its students on citi bikes.
I've never seen one stopped by security.

It's all about the "benjamins".

I thought that the review was spot on, cites exactly what is going on here. Every day this place is becoming more and more like a dorm/hotel dump. Rick and Blackstone continue their phony PR as the place deteriorates. All I see are oversize dogs, suitcase tourists, students, filth, and churning of apartments. They will rent to anyone to make a buck.

Around the Oval, I believe I've seen a couple. Otherwise, PS are not around or look the other way. That I have seen many times.

This has got to be one of the most witnessed violations of the "rules." Amazing that the signs are all up for this not to happen, yet it still keeps happening. If you can get away with it, why not? That's the feeling. The fact that management knows this, and still does nothing except send a PS officer on a moped once in a while is very telling.

Speaking of all this crap, where is the information on the TA website about buildings with bedbugs? One of my neighbors told me that they got a call from management about a bedbug infestation. I guess I'm not surprised since this property has become a revolving door for students and tourists, but when I am paying $4,000/mo, I expect management to do a lot more. This place has become a joke, from management down to the TA.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

LOL. I just saw this happening! A PS officer on a moped going away from two guys riding around the Oval on bicycles! Pathetic.

Anonymous said...

It's not the Oval anymore, it's the Autobahn!

Stuy Town Reporter said...

How about stopping with the mopeds and the smelly zambonis and golf carts and actually walking the place, just like it was done in the "good old days"? And how about returning to the walkways being meant for pedestrians only, just like in the "good old days"? Too difficult for you? Too much hassle?

how about the porters actually cleaning instead of playing on their phones and hiding behind basement office ' ahem' walls.

I don't know what I would do in your shoes. I am paying half that much and need to be frugal. I feel for you and others like you, unless the money is so abundant that you don't know what to do with it.

I wish the money was abundant. I moved here because I believed it would be the best place to raise a child with the open space and playgrounds, etc. Boy was I wrong. I pay $4000, but that does not include the gym (+ $100/mo), oval amenities (+ $200/mo), ice skating (+ I don't even know). If I lived in a typical doorman building, it would include the gym and amenities. My lease is up in a few months, and I'm sure that the students are ready to move in.

No less than 3 moving trucks in my loop at one time this morning and one of my elevators appears to be permanently padded for moving. Churn! Churn! Churn!

Anonymous said...

I would NEVAH pay $4000 to live in this shithole! I'm sure there are better values out there, notwithstanding the exorbitantly high rents in NYC.

Management doesn't enforce any rules. They make rules, but never, ever enforce them. It's a free-for-all here and I'm sure word gets around and so it attracts the kind of people who want to live in a chaotic, unruly environment.

Anonymous said...

I'm also paying around 2400. But I'm 47. In ten years we are royally screwed. That 2400 could be 3000 or higher and where do I go.

Anonymous said...

it is a lot of money with no definite decent renewal rate and far from any subway. Fuckng hiking it over to the Lex line and fed up. Doormanapartmens are now cheaper with same square footage and closer to a train.

Rick and management have been extremely quiet regarding everything that's going on around here. They are well aware it and could care less. All those promises in the beginning , as usual, were all lies. This place has turned for the worse. Whole Food bags are now being thrown away in public trash cans along with large empty boxes. Looks really nice as you walk by. IN THE PUBLIC TRASH CANS? This is type of behavior that all of us are frustrated with, and I'm pretty sure it is because of these students. This place has changed soo much. I couldn't believe my EARS this morning when a woman pushing her baby carriage, entered into my elevator this morning, and the sound of Middle Eastern music was playing out loud , from a small portable device. I rolled my eyes and shook my head as I left. This place is horrible. REALLY horrible!

I will continue to post this in different ways: get out the spray bottles and/or water guns and fill them with clean water.

Take one of them with you when you leave your building.

Squirt any and every biker, scooter, skater who gets close to you. It is your biological imperative to protect and defend yourself from anyone who could harm you, anyone behaving with depraved indifference to life and limb.

You just might happily be saving some other human being from being mowed down and severely or even fatally injured, too!

You, nor anyone else, can do that if it's legal to ride a bicycle, scooter, etc.

Dear Stuy Town Reporter:

1. Bike riding, etc. on pedestrian paths is illegal. As Barry Shapiro wrote above: Riding bikes on sidewalks is a violation of city codes; riding bikes recklessly on any sidewalks is a misdemeanor.

2. If legality is the issue, then here is the legal definition of the attitude fueling the actions of Blackstone and their minions:

DEPRAVED INDIFFERENCE

“To constitute depraved indifference, the defendant's conduct must be 'so wanton, so deficient in a moral sense of concern, so lacking in regard for the life or lives of others, and so blameworthy as to warrant the same criminal liability as that which the law imposes upon a person who intentionally causes a crime.

"Depraved indifference focuses on the risk created by the defendant’s conduct, not the injuries actually resulting.”

http://definitions.uslegal.com/d/depraved-indifference/

In other words, Blackstone and its agents, acting out of depraved indifference for the life or lives of others, is daily, consistently and deliberately behaving in a manner defined as CRIMINAL by the law.

This is serious. This is legally actionable.

I may, if you permit me, sir, continue to post this particular comment on some or all of the threads here on your blog, and perhaps repeatedly.

Deliberately exposing us to physical danger, and actively encouraging behavior which can cause injury, permanent disability, and death, is not a matter for simple debate or complaint. The bikers, skate-boarders and scooters threaten life and limb every moment we walk out of a building's doorway.

That, of course, includes the growing number of vehicles which they send onto pedestrian walkways day and night.

Blackstone has, and continues to, engage in escalation of conduct which poses a threat to every human being who walks upon and through its so-called "property."

Blackstone is a notoriously shabby and despicable company that is the enemy of anyone it rents to anywhere in the country. Google them and see just what a vile outfit it is. Unfortunately, it owns so many politicians (our dearest Danny and DeBozo, included) and gets away with murder. Blackstone is only Compass Rock with a different veneer.

9:01 AM: Kudos to your very intelligent and thoughtful post. I wish to God that someone leading the Tenants Association had written it, but I know that will never happen. Please, STR, let this do as he has requested and repeat the post intermittently until, maybe, it gets through to those indifferent, money-hungry assholes in the Management Office. I have very little hope that it will make evan a shadow of a dent in the TA's impermeable armor of high-handed indifference and it certainly won't motivate our useless council man, whom the TA just loves to fawn all over and pose for pretty photo-ops.

Some pretty telling reviews posted on Yelp. This place is an absolute must to avoid. Did you know that if you live in an un-renovated apartment and move out, they try to charge you for every little change you made to it over the years? I will just withhold my last month's rent and they can chase me all over the world. Greedy fucking scumsuckers.

Anonymous said...

They do't try to charge for changes, floor, walls, bath, sink, tile, THEY DO and if you don't submit payment they wreck your credit and send legal notice Avoid this place anyone WHO MAY BE ABOUT TO RENT. Another reason LL likes students - they don't care about al this or reviews, parents pay the bills and get the wrecked or legal notices. Reason LL likes to rent to kids. Shady shady shady.

Why do they charge for alterations done to old apartments that are going to be gut-renovated? If the apartment was vacated by a senior (either dead or alive) how are they gonna get blood out of a turnip? Most seniors don't give a flying fuck about their credit score and don't need to get more credit anyway. Maybe the LL will fight the undertake for the last few dollars!

Anonymous said...

Back when Tishman took over, they were not charge a penny for an RS that vacated unless it was major damage. They would even allow tenants to leave stuff in the apartment and they would get the full security back. I guess times have changed under Blackstone!

Anonymous said...

More than a few of us told you all that tishman was bad but things would be way worse after Tish and, guess what?

Anonymous said...

The charges are going to the newer MR tenants. If you leave anything broken, chopped, chipped or changed, expect a hefty bill and a messed credit score, following by legal notices.

Anonymous said...

Why dont you all just walk ou?????t=thy are overcharging you, breaking multiple housing laws and there are a plethora of empty better cheaper apartments across the city. J>U.S.T go.

Anonymous said...

again the mr tenants get the shaft.
