Stuy Town Increases Plant and Tree Devastation of the Oval - Uncovered Mattresses Continue

Take a look. Soon all of it will be gone in that area. Our hope is that our Tenants Association still has a seat at the table with Blackstone, as they so proudly proclaim. Who knows? The fallen tree and plants may be made for a new table for them.

Update: The photos below were just taken about 15 minutes ago. The mattresses have been there for hours. Along the First Ave Loop. Entry for cars, 18 St., exit 16 St.; August 8:

I wonder why they are doing that? I hope they're not going to put those damned Citibikes or e-scooters in the oval. My friends and I might have to go over there with our box cutters if they do. We'll get away with it because it's not like we have any Security in this dump.

Blackstone and its "managers" are a CANCER. A malignant cancer that destroys, devours and kills every housing complex it infects. It is a metastatic cancer and those who work for it are the invasive cells.

Go away Rick. We have no chemotherapy to fight you, but that doesn't mean we want you anywhere near us. You have destroyed our homes and destroyed the beauty of our beloved "Oasis" and we hate you.

I know I speak for the many, not the few.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>I wonder why they are doing that?<<

I think it's for an "artistic" sculpture that is in honor of Vets. A lot of people are afraid of saying anything against it because it's for the Vets, but I was a Vet, and it is too much being there, in an area where were plants and a tree. Nice idea, wrong place. If you want to honor Vets, why not lower the rents here for Vets? Why not have some new Vets rent here? They can't afford it?

Blackstone and our dear Rick will push the sculpture to promote other intrusive events/things. Sorry, I don't trust them at all. I call BS on their to-be-expected reasoning. And it's coming.

I am glad to finally, finally, finally be reading about box cutters, about fighting, about DOING something to STOP THESE BASTARDS.

It is not only our homes and what was once peaceful and beautiful. IT IS LIVING CREATURES THEY ARE MURDERING. Grass, trees, bushes, flowers, birds, squirrels, worms, insects: THESE SONS OF BITCHES MURDER, LITERALLY, LIVES. PERIOD.

They have been murdering other life forms for years now.

Where people are concerned, they have been at least implicated in suicides, culpable in rape or attempted rape, assault/strangulation and such due to the combination of conditions they created and, protection they refused their tenants. They have been involved in serious and life-threatening health problems of both mental and physical gravity through a whole long list of actions, which are ongoing and escalating.

They have INVITED AND ENCOURAGED STRANGERS TO ROAM OUR BUILDINGS. They have created conditions of literal shit and piss where we walk, and provided increasing numbers of motorized vehicles to their workers so that we can be menaced, terrorized, and possibly eventually maimed and/or killed.

THIS IS LITERAL PHYSICAL FORCE WHICH BLACKSTONE AND THEIR MINIONS EMPLOY, ALONG WITH VICIOUS, VICIOUS PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE/MIND GAMES TO DESTROY OUR SANITY, HEALTH, HOMES, FAMILIES, LIVES.

That at least a small handful of my fellow residents and neighbors are finally realizing the gravity of the crimes committed here, and are hinting or outright writing about physical force/resistance to protect ourselves indicates that we are not ALL either unconscious, terrorized, or complicit.

How many of us are experiencing a healthy and once natural reawakening of the instinct for self-preservation? All life forms protect themselves, fight to stay alive.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Hmmm, I have to disagree. I don't think this is proactive on Blackstone's part, but merely, mostly, passive and not thought out in terms of consequences. I still think the only way is not through "box cutters," etc, but through the law. Blackstone is ignoring parts of the law. That's where the victory can be. Can be. Evidence and more evidence.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

You write, for instance, that "They have INVITED AND ENCOURAGED STRANGERS TO ROAM OUR BUILDINGS." Not at all. I don't see this. But...is security lax? Yes.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

As for club cars. Yes, more of them, riding everywhere, front and back. But have they maimed someone? Killed someone? No, I don't see that at all.

Anonymous said...

I disagree as well. Violence is not called for here. We have evidence but no lawyers. That is what the TA is for but we all know what they are about. Unfortunately we don’t have numbers here. A few protesters will get nowhere but thrown out of their apartments . Our councilman and pols do not support us either. Plenty of evidence has been shown in photos posted on various sites. The only answer is a new viable TA that uses its money to pay lawyers who will fight for us. That is not happening.

Anonymous said...

Where is mention of box cutters? That is ridiculous.

Anonymous said...

Not invited in those exact words, but they rent to transients who are often strangers and do not screen who lives here.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>Where is mention of box cutters? That is ridiculous.<<

It was mentioned here:

>>I hope they're not going to put those damned Citibikes or e-scooters in the oval. My friends and I might have to go over there with our box cutters if they do.<<

Anonymous said...

There won't be much left of the Oval soon. I despise this bunch of goons.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

We know, for instance, that Management is ignoring some of their own rules. Outside dogs. Uncovered mattress at the loops. Golf carts crossing 20th Street. I have plenty of photos, and will have more. I have to go through the motion. And the motion may take time. And I do many other things as well that make this time limited.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

In the next days, I will send another email to the TA. Since Thursday, they have ignored my questions. Nicely put questions, btw, but questions nevertheless.

Anonymous said...

Great intentions but if they keep ignoring your e-mails I cannot see any good coming from sending them. The TA is a lost cause, a vindictive parasite of management.

Anonymous said...

I have put up photos too on the TA site. They served no purpose but to get me banned for negativity. The photos do nothing as they are ignored.

Meant as a joke, not literally.

CYNICAL GROTESQUE BLACKSTONE P.R. SCAM

"An aluminum tree sculpture — meant to represent all five branches of the U.S. Military — will be unveiled on Veterans Day weekend. Residents will have the opportunity to either honor or pay tribute to a veteran by purchasing leaves that will adorn the tree. The proceeds from the leaves purchased by residents will be donated to a veterans organization."

Blackstone killed a longstanding, healthy tree to be replaced by a fake tree?

The fake tree will "honor" veterans?

PCVST residents should purchase fake leaves for a fake tree to demonstrate their public support for a cynical Blackstone P.R. scam demonstrating Blackstone's fake honor for veterans?

I will not be manipulated into participating in Blackstone's cynical P.R scam. The notion I should publicly associate myself with Blackstone to honor veterans is grotesque. The notion I should channel financial support for veterans publicly through Blackstone makes me want to vomit.

Forget about the fake tree. Schwarzman should silently, anonymously donate $5.4 Billion to the V.A. Hospital on 23rd Street. It will still be easier for a camel to fit through the eye of a needle.

Anticipate a very public, media-hyped ceremony very publicly attended by NYC Lobbyist/Councilman Powers and the incredibly conflicted, Vichy TA Board very publicly demonstrating their exclusive Blackstone loyalty.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

For sure, there will be a ceremony. As I said, the idea is great, but the placement is another thing. Why not create a garden (not nearby where dogs piss and where we will have beer and wine) to honor Vets or a place for those who may just wish to partake of the garden. Make the garden lovely, with flowers, nice plants, etc. And, yes, a nice path where people can sit and just "smell the roses." But I guess this is too much and not good for "marketing" where the Oval can be continually used to try and sell new rents.

As the suits from Blackstone said: "The Oval is a great resource."

Anonymous said...

I think I can speak for the majority of posters here that the Oval, ever since Tishman Speyer days has been a place, like Times Square, to get through as quickly as possible in order to go the place where you are headed.

Anonymous said...

They will do anything for favorable publicity. They are beyond contempt.

Anonymous said...

Well one good thing. It seems that we are in a summer rain pattern of thunderstorms every Wednesday by early/late afternoon. So it's a very high probability that Wed. nite's BS movie noise event will be cxled.

Anonymous said...

Entered my laundry room this evening and the disgusting smell of pot permeated the room. This dump gets more disgusting by the day. Slick Rick, instead of worrying about veteran monuments and events designed to get good publicity, how about cleaning this disgusting pigsty up a little.

Anonymous said...

I remember when the Oval was a quiet, pristine place of nature where peace and reflection and quiet thought was the order of the day.
Now we have "amenities", loud concerts by third-rate bands, "movies" from the year one, destruction of trees, Coney Island and Love Boat vibe, beach chairs, hordes trampling on once was almost hallowed grounds..
Way to go, Rick Hydick!
Nice going Tenants Associatipn!
Three cheers for Shameless Susan Steinberg!
So sad.
So utterly sad.

Anonymous said...

Now, let's be fair to Susan Steinberg (we all know that she is fair to us). She has complaints about the Oval. She complains about the bikini babes. Everything else she is in love with.

Anonymous said...

When confronted with legitimate questions from aggrieved tenants, Shameless Susan slinks away and says "Just Call Rick!".
But when a photo opportunity presents, Susan is Johnny on the spot!
Vile.

Anonymous said...

So happy that so many movies and concerts were wiped out by rain this summer. Yay, we had a lot of rain on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Poor rubes and cheerleaders . They missed their fabulous entertainment. Too bad.

Anonymous said...

Today on my way home I saw two things that demonstrate what a filthy pig sty this has become. A coed on the bench with her dirty bare feet up on the bench and an especially large mound of filthy furniture and disgusting discolored uncovered mattresses on the loop. This place gets dirtier and dirtier while Hayduk laughs, the TA sits, and we suffer. Where is the Board of Health? Paid off?

Anonymous said...

Don’t act so happy. Rick might pull a “rain date” on you.

He’s that evil.

Anonymous said...

Hey, Ricky, that huge mound of trash and garbage has been on my loop for over three hours already. Do you think that is funny? And guess what, it gets bigger and bigger. Clean this dive up.

Anonymous said...

Management should advertise garbage views.

Anonymous said...

I plan on taking a friend from out of town to a restaurant on the lower east side. I would love to have her come to my apartment for a while. As I walked down the 14St loop this evening, I said to myself, “I can’t have her come to this pigsty.” Tonight a big mound of filthy furniture and mattresses has been on the loop at least five hours. In addition, another filthy mound of really dirty mattresses is near the sidewalk just before Avenue A. I am extremely embarrassed to have anyone see this pigsty in which I live. My apartment is lovely, but outside it is a horror show. What will it take for this management to clean this joint up. Has anyone called the health department and if so what has been your experience? Meanwhile the idiot rubes are on the Oval lawn in this heat and humidity listening to crap.

Anonymous said...

They are showing two Dumbo movies at the oval next week. Two crappy fourth rate movies. And yet the tubes eat it up.

Anonymous said...

Good work Mother Nature. Slick Rick’s concert got rained out again. Poor rubes May have to entertain themselves.

Anonymous said...

It appears that the despicable TA probably along with management has effectively completely censored all dissent on their site. There is no longer any criticism of their bogus organization or management. Absolutely none. All happy cheerleading chat.

Anonymous said...

Worse than you know:

13 people who work in "the bunker"/Resident Services in somewhat 'higher' positions WERE FIRED TODAY. SOME OF THESE PEOPLE WORKED HERE FOR 13 YEARS (years and years before these predators moved in).

More firings are coming.

This came from a worker here who termed today (Thursday, August 8, 2019) "a very bad day."

When I asked a couple of Security Guard people about it, they indicated that they knew about it but could not speak about it.

(At least one of the "civilians" behind the desk in Security has been gone for months after enjoying a less than pleasant job with them. She is not being replaced. Our very minimal and defanged/declawed Security force is being "trained" to man that desk. Of course, this must take them away from any of their nominal "safety" and "security" tasks.

This, of course, is as they peddle and expand their commercial garbage.

And as they literally destroy and torment the earth for months now between the 5 Turd Café and The Oval "Study" for their wondrous "veterans-honoring" "tree."

Scorched earth behavior: KILL and TORTURE both the people and the other living creatures. Must be military geniuses concocting this, speaking of "war veterans."

The misery here is gonna get a whole lot worse. Ready for it, neighbors???

According to VERY RELIABLE sources, the total of dues paying members of the Tenants Association is 78.
That's right, folks...78
SEVENTY EIGHT...out of a population of 30,000+
The phonies who run this sham organization claim to be "the largest Tenants Organization" in the city.
What a bunch of nonsense!
Thieves, phonies would be a better description.
I challenge Shameless Susan to call me a liar.
C'mon, Susan, confront me and tell me I'm wrong.
Not going to happen.

Anonymous said...

This bogus TA needs tone disbanded. They are hindering us, not helping. They are arrogant, defensive and parasitic. They have wiped out all dissent on their mealy pathetic site.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

I will try to verify, but, so far, the TA is silent on their actual numbers.

As for those mattresses.... I see this a lot. Uncovered mattresses placed by, mostly, porters. What tremendous difficulty will it be for cheap plastic to cover those? Management doesn't want to do it. Yesterday, there was that tent at the Oval, and some of Management was there, including Rick. At the same time, uncovered mattresses were still laying around on the loops!

And, yes, I already spoke to Rick about those uncovered mattresses a long time ago....

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>13 people who work in "the bunker"/Resident Services in somewhat 'higher' positions WERE FIRED TODAY. SOME OF THESE PEOPLE WORKED HERE FOR 13 YEARS (years and years before these predators moved in).<<

I would suppose that this was a response to the new rent laws. A billion dollar organization has to watch their money.

Anonymous said...

As did I and no change. Worse. The mattresses and other crap are also put out by students an transients. This is disgusting. I thought of going to the tent to complain but it falls on deaf ears.

Anonymous said...

The mattresses and other junk are placed equally as frequently by students and others. Porters are not the only ones who do it.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Yes, but I've seen porters do it, too. So nicely (sometimes) assembled on the loops. But what about PS? They see this all the time, but say nothing. What about Management? What about Rick? Same thing. They see it, know of it, but do nothing.

Anonymous said...

"A billion dollar organization has to watch their money."

Their asset value is currently around 500 billion. They are in their way to be a TRILLION dollars in asset value by the end of this year.

BTW STR. The golf carts, the mattresses and the non resident dogs are ships that sailed a long time ago. Nothing will be done on these issues. Better to focus on things that we, the posters here, can do because we have no TA. BTW, who is going to create a real alternative to the TA? STR, your STUYVESANT TOWN TENANTS ADVOCACY when it is truly active (?) is just another blog where anony. people will just rant and rave how the TA sucks.

Anonymous said...

That is what I mean about no wheels turning here without a viable TA and lawyers. All the photos and complaints in the world do not make a difference.

Anonymous said...

I knew that this place would continue to decline when some residents froze this winter, including myself fortunately only a few weeks, and no help was offered. Our congressman did nothing, the TA offered tours of a heating plant , the department of health did nothing to assist us and management blamed it on faulty sensors. My feeling is here that dissent is censored and no wheels will be turning here. If they do they will be turning the wrong way. When residents are cold, then there is a big problem. In terms of the continuing aesthetic appearance and cleanliness of the property, management ‘s response is that it is the tenants and they cannot do anything. They rent to these pigs so they can do something. We are in a very sad place now.

Anonymous said...

I have to agree1:12. I appreciate this blog as a place to vent but as far as action goes, there is none. Until we have a new TA or organization nothing positive will occur. All of the photos and posts in the world mean nothing to this management.

Anonymous said...

Pile of puke in the elevator this morning. Stinks to high heaven.
Guess one of the bros was out partying last night.

Anonymous said...

Who was fired and why?

Anonymous said...

I notice that the PS officers are all afraid to speak out on the violations here. In speaking with one, he defended Rick and Blackstone in a defensive manner. Their stand along with management is that they are helpless against the new low life tenants. The bottom line is that not only are there steps they can take but Blackstone has created the disgusting demo here in order to make money.

Anonymous said...

Unbelievable. Someone puts up a post of a noose around Epstein’s neck with Hillary laughing and Peter Stuyvesant puts it in through yet they ban dissenting against themselves and management. Another poster had to call them out on it. Shows you what a vile, sick group this TA is. Let’s see how long it takes for them to remove it.

Anonymous said...

In reference to an inappropriate posting that got through on the TA site, they did remove it but it took an hour and a reprimand from another poster for them to take it off.

Anonymous said...

Bros and hoes are out in full force. Enjoy all bout time we started searching for a new apartment. That's it for me.

Anonymous said...

Wonder why they didn’t ban the guy who put up a vile cartoon of Epstein and Hillary on an unrelated post. They took it down but didn’t call him out on it. As long as you don’t criticize them or Slick Rick you are welcome to post on their site.

Anonymous said...

Yes the bros and coeds are taking over here. But Blackstone doesn’t rent much to students. Right, and if you believe that you believe that they know nothing about the existence of Airbnb here.

Anonymous said...

78 TOTAL dues paying members of the so-called Tenants Association.
78...that's it, folks...a fraudulent phony organization.
I will keep putting this up until I get a response or denial from Susan Steinberg.
Not gonna happen.
Susan? Susan?
Can't hear you, Susan.

Anonymous said...

Firings: I was told that it was 13 people in the bunker, people who were in a supervisory position. The worker mentioned two specific names of the 13 people who were fired And did not say why they were fired. But as has been written, other workers, including security, understand that more firings are to come. I did not hear the specific reasons, but I think it is pretty clear.

Anonymous said...

Most of the people here in supervisory positions including the big boss are very dispensable. I have little or no respect for any of them. There are a few good PS officers but supervisory, no.

Anonymous said...

She doesn’t care. All 78 members should be ashamed of themselves for paying dues. Today I got a request for dues under my door. I ripped it up and threw it in the trash. That is where the TA belongs.

Anonymous said...

what's the reason. this is not clear. TELL US.

Anonymous said...

The 13 had problems. Lateness to work, issues with supervisors. 13 out of ? is nothing.

Adam Rose said...

Adam Rose here. I’m the one who called out the person who posted the vile, Epstein/Clinton graphic on the TA’s FB page and asked him to take it down.

Just so everyone knows how things work on that page, members of the page can freely comment on posts, at least until someone calls them out if their comment is offensive or otherwise not allowed according to the TA’s rules for their page and they take it down themselves or “Peter Stuyvesant” removes it. The only things that require TA approval BEFORE they show up on the page are POSTS. Comments on posts do NOT require permission from “Peter Stuyvesant”, at least initially, and will go through immediately. Since the page isn’t always monitored in real time and it certainly isn’t monitored 24/7/365, people can comment and get away with all sorts of bad behavior until they’re either called out by other members of the page or “Peter Stuyvesant” removes the offending comment. So, although I’m not always a fan of the TA’s, I do think they deserve a pass on this one. The commenter took the post down himself after I told him that it was inappropriate and in very poor taste and asked him to remove it. Unsurprisingly, given that his profile picture shows a photo of Archie Bunker, he did not take the graphic down and leave it at that. After he took it down, he took a feeble swipe at me with an asinine comment, but, since it was posted on my comment to him, I just deleted my comment and his stupid comment right along with it.

Anonymous said...

Good points Adam, but they banned me and publicly harassed me because I criticized them. My posts were always appropriate with clean language. They pick and choose and their site has become a cozy cheering management tool. I have read posts that certainly merited the banning of the posters. Maybe they pay their dues. They do not deserve a pass at all. Their language and attitudes are disgusting.

Anonymous said...

Well said Adam, but my opinion stands. Posters should be banned for inappropriate posts like that one and for insulting other posters. If they can ban a person for simply stating that they do nothing, the TA can ban others. The people who run that site are deplorable.

Anonymous said...

That Peter Stuyvesant site is run by management and a few bitter dues collectors. Who are they kidding?

Anonymous said...

This place is becoming more and more slummy looking. Although our porter does a great job, our hall rug is filthy. Stained terribly. The staining looks fairly recent . They need to replace these dirty rugs or remove them completely. Such low life slobs living here. I wish I knew who was responsible for the stains, probably the bros. It probably wouldn’t matter anyway as Blackstone can care less.

Anonymous said...

I saw the woman who was putting the TA flyers in the doors in my building this afternoon. She was being asked by a younger tenant what exactly the TA has done for market rate tenants, and there was nothing but stuttering. The tenant proceeded to tell the woman to get lost.

Normally I would say that the poor woman didn’t deserve that, but when it comes to this group and anyone who pushes their agenda, they are all fair game. They have some nerve asking for money when they have absolutely ZERO accomplishments over the past 5+ years. ZERO accomplishments is pathetic, and that what every last one of the TA board is in my eyes -pathetic.

I’m sorry but this is a lot of words wasted. I really don’t care two hoots about that guy and the TA. I guess if his post has been about DT, it may not have drawn as much ire. This is a perfect example of why the TA and their FB Page are waste.

Regardless, of who you support, we are in crisis mode in regards to our homes. Noise and environmental pollution are the norm.

I think this blog is making a point to blackstone. Let’s not get sidetracked please.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

Maybe the blog is making a point to Blackstone, but Blackstone can care less. In case you haven’t noticed 9:00, things are getting worse here and nothing has improved. They are laughing all the way to the bank. Any criticism of the TA is warranted because a good, proactive TA might help us here.

Anonymous said...

I agree 9:10. The bogus TA is fair game for anything. I wish that I had seen the member that put the membership paper under my door. I would have told her exactly what I think of her organization.

Anonymous said...

78 dues-paying members? That is probably an exaggeration.

So, if you don’t care, why are you commenting on it? And how, exactly, is this a perfect example of why the TA and their FB page are a waste? Regardless of what you think of the TA — and I am not a supporter of theirs — that page is very useful, in fact, vital for finding out what’s going on around here. Just because some moron posts a comment on the page that has nothing to do with Stuyvesant Town and he’s called out on it, how exactly does that make the page a waste? And, by the way, if the post had been something negative about Donald Trump, you can bet that it would have gotten attention from some of the Trump supporters — yes there are some — who live in STPCV. Epstein, Clinton, Trump. Nothing about any of them, unless it relates to STPCV or NYC and affects us directly belongs on that page. THAT was the real point that was being made by the protest over the idiot’s comment, which, apparently, unfortunately, you failed to understand. Secondarily, the idiot’s comment also lacked decency and was in extremely poor taste. So, why don’t you pay attention to what’s important to you and let others pay attention to what’s important to them without criticizing that choice. Everyone who lives here and cares is well aware of the problems around here. The problem is that we tenants don’t own STPCV ourselves and have an owner, Blackstone/Steven Schwarzman, who has been accused by the United Nations of fueling a global housing crisis. You really think he cares about our complaints? He doesn’t and that won’t change until/if it affects his pocketbook. Nothing much that gets posted here or on the TA’s FB page is likely to change that.

To the person who is complaining here over and over again that you were thrown off the TA’s FB page:

If your initials are LM, you need to stop whining. After your non-stop-for-years-on-end complaining, I saw on the TA’s page that they were trying to reach out to you. I imagine to discuss your endless negativity. And I saw your response, which was that you had no interest in communicating with them. So, really, you shouldn’t be surprised that they dumped you. It’s their page, not yours and they can do what they want and you pushed them to do what they did. Your unwillingness to modify your behavior is what got you kicked off. And, even though I am not a fan of the TA’s, I was also pretty sick of hearing you say the same monotonous, negative things over and over and over again. Other people on that page also call out management, but they haven’t been thrown off. So, maybe you should think about the difference in approach between them and you, which I would say is that they also have valid, negative points to make but do so in a more acceptable, less relentless manner, which the TA is willing to allow, but you just harp on the same one or two things in the same obnoxious, broken record way over and over again. Who was fired? 13 is a lot of people to fire all at once and still maintain workflow, unless they already lined up the job replacements for the "late" workers chances are the 13 fired workers was not planned, not due to "lateness" and left them short-staffed on the workload. No employer fires 13 workers for poor performance all at once, in the middle of the year, and without replacements hired to step in the following day. Sorry, not buying it. Something else is going on.

Security is being hammered here. Example from a typical night:

Where something like 30+ camera screens are active and supposedly monitored in the headquarters, there are two (2) Security Officers, who are also answering all incoming calls. They also work the reception desk, assisting peoples with all sorts and kinds of requests and needs. These duties at reception alone can take up a good deal of time and concentration.

What 1 or 2 Security Officers who are in headquarters are routinely given next to no information about what is occurring, or scheduled to occur in Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village. Construction/destruction, emergency and more routine repairs, and the like are not communicated to them as they need to be.

I now understand that some of the: (a) vague; (b) wrong and incorrect; (c) defensive and/or nasty; (d) inane and incomprehensible responses we receive to questions put to Security are the result of extreme pressure and threat (of job loss) placed upon these fewer and fewer people; and also DELIBERATE WITHHOLDING OF INFORMATION BY BLACKSTONE'S minions.

The real residents here might be surprised by the strain placed on these employees of Blackstone, and by their true feelings.

ALL of us are at risk.

>>It’s their page,<<

I have a different take. It is the tenants page, or should be. Unless someone is obscene or posts something personal, it is not meant to pat anyone on the back if the person doesn't want to.

Criticisms of what goes on around here is not wanted on the TA page. I know. I've been at their meetings, which are getting smaller and smaller. The statements from Susan can be insulting to...tenants but never to Management. The TA is proud to have a "seat at the table" with them.

I think it is a basically a worthless organization. Ruined by now.

Look what is happening here: pages devoted to not only thinking and writing about people who are few, usually nasty, and hurtful to everyone who lives here. As a bonus, we've descended into name calling and insulting one another.

THIS IS NOT WHAT THIS BLOG, or our communicating with one another is meant for, is it? If I am wrong, please set me straight.

Otherwise: please, please, please can we stop insulting each other, and share about our common miseries and troubles which result from blackheart's treatment of us?

This was tried about 10 years ago by a small group of tenants lead by me and another longtime tenant who unfortunately passed away. We got zero traction aside from our small group. And that was when the number of student and other transient tenants was much lower than it is today

Anonymous said...

I think the TA defines “ largest” as existing in a rental community with the largest number of tenants. Based on attendance at recent TA meetings , a claim of a large membership is laughable

Anonymous said...

STR, it IS, literally, the TA’s page by virtue of the fact that the TA put it up, which means, for better or worse, that they get to control it. Someone has to make decisions about how the page is run and those decisions are made by all or some of the current members of the TA Board of Directors. Realistically, that’s the way these kinds of things work in all organizations.

The other tenants’ FB page is also controlled by the people who put it up and run it and they also remove people/posts/comments that aren’t in line with what they want to see on their page.

Bottom line: the people in charge on both FB pages run their pages the way they see fit. Just like you do here, STR.

Anyone who doesn’t like what is going on at either of those pages is free — as you always say to people who complain about your blog, STR — to start their own FB page.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Yes, but they represent and work for tenants. Why their secrecy, however?

Anonymous said...

A tenant’s association blog is supposed to support and help tenants. Not to side with management. The final straw was when they offered tours of the heating plant(their idea and not management ‘s) while residents froze in their apartments. It is fine to say that they run their blog but it does not represent tenants and they should not be censoring and calling out tenants. They are a shady group.

Anonymous said...

I think I know who you are too but I would not put initials up as you crudely did. I think although you say you are not, you are a supporter of the TA and a nasty voice on their blog.

Anonymous said...

Exactly. We do not have the numbers or support.

Anonymous said...

The TA is not an organization. They are part of management calling themselves an organization. They do not really have a right to pose as a tenant organization nor censor free speech that is appropriate because they don’t like it.

>>Regardless, it’s unrealistic to think that the TA wouldn’t remove people who continue to behave in ways that they’ve been asked not to. <<

And what way is that? I go to the TA site (and the other ST Facebook site), and I did not see a behavior that would compel "Peter Stuyvesant" to remove this person.

Again, I ask: What are the dues paying members for the year of 2018? We know what the councilman gave (it's online), but we know nothing about the membership of this TA.

Anonymous said...

And how dare they ask people to behave the way they want them to. If people use decent language and do not attack people then they should be allowed to state their case. What is funny is that there are a few posters who constantly attack and insult people but are given free rein. Behaving the way they want them to is sucking up to them and management. Get real.

Anonymous said...

I think that you are right, that Slick Rick does control the page. In the past few weeks there has been no talk of QOL issues, just classifieds and talk of when the shake shack truck is coming type posts. That says it all.

On June 27 the following exchange between TA FB moderator, “Peter Stuyvesant”, and the person removed took place. It speaks for itself.

Peter Stuyvesant XXXXXXXX--once again, please contact us via Messenger. We need to chat.

XXXXXXXX Peter Stuyvesant I don’t feel the need to chat with you. I have met with local pols and management and put forth compromises and suggestions which is basically what you do. I believe you are aware of the issues here.

Peter Stuyvesant We need to chat privately about your posts in general. Would rather not do it publicly in this forum.

Peter Stuyvesant XXXXXXXX regrettably, you have left us no other recourse than to suspend you from this group, and to do so publicly, since you will not engage with us privately. You have routinely ignored our requests to follow the guidelines re: constant, unrelenting complaining and negativity as well as treating others with differing POVs respectfully. We have also gotten numerous complaints about your behavior and posts, and just can't have this anymore. You are making this group a place where people are unhappy and uncomfortable and enough is enough. You will still be able to see the group and stay informed, but will no longer be able to comment. Just as people come on here saying they don’t take the posts seriously because they are anonymous posts, the exact same can be said of Peter Stuyvesant. They are nothing more than an anonymous poster that happens to run a Facebook page.

The TA board needs to step away from their alias and talk to the tenants instead of hiding. Everyone is a lot more brave in what they say and do when there are no repercussions, and that is the spineless route the TA takes. Even Rick doesn’t take this route, and he deals with a lot more crap than the TA board does.

Ok the TA sucks. The TA sucks. Again the TA sucks. Over and over again this mantra is posted here. Since there is zero chance that anyone who posts here will do the very hard work of forming a legit TA alternative with a nonprofit tax status, we have to go macro. I have posted these links before. Please contribute your time and money (at least some money) to both organizations. They were the real heroes in organizing the grass roots for the passage of the Rent Reform Act. As far as micro QOL Blackstone issues, we are on our own. If you afford it, lawyer up. And I’m sorry this insane approach that you are going to vote Republican for the next election is foolish. Guess how many Republican votes there were in the NYS Assembly and the NYS Senate for the passage of the Rent Reform Act? Zero.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

We focus on the TA because we can get nowhere without a viable one. People need to withhold dues from them so they will disappear. In addition, they hinder any progress on QOL issues by siding with management. They are as big a problem as management and need to become accountable for their inaction.

Anonymous said...

10:55 your post shows how crude and threatening the TA is when dealing with residents who have their number. This is unacceptable for an organization and as for people complaining about this poster, the poster who called someone out by initials is likely one of the ones involved, a true management and TA shill. All the more reason why they should not be allowed to represent us. Perhaps the local pols can force them to open their books or disband.

Anonymous said...

Anonymous said...

“What if a tenant doesn't want to "chat" privately?”

The last time people were allowed to post and comment, unrestricted, on the TA’s FB page, it got ugly pretty quickly. It was after that that “Peter Stuyvesant” starting moderating the page closely.

Here’s a link to the TA’s rules, which were posted on January 4, 2019 and reposted on June 21, 2019:
https://m.facebook.com/groups/stpcvta/permalink/10156931137336690/

If a tenant doesn’t want to engage with “Peter Stuyvesant” (privately or publicly) on the TA‘s page when asked to and doesn’t want to follow the TA’s published rules, then that tenant either shouldn’t use the page or they should expect to be removed from the page for being uncooperative. All organizations, the TA included, need ground rules. If you violate them, you should expect consequences.

Anonymous said...

Just wondering if the TA has announced what was discussed and achieved by gaining a seat at the table. My guess is nada because they are not only at Blackstone’s table but in their pocket.

Anonymous said...

Lack of heat in winter and dirty uncovered mattresses and mounds of trash are not micro QOL issues. In my book they are tremendously important.

Anonymous said...

The TA resembles the organization that existed when I moved here when MetLife owned STPCV in only one respect- they use the same name as that earlier organization that I gave funds to and volunteered my time to. I don’t know why it happened but certainly since the Blackstone acquisition, after failing to lead another tenant acquisition, the TA has been virtually nonexistent and been neutered

Anonymous said...

There is nothing but inane drivel on the TA fb page. There are only two people on that page who still dare to speak up and I’m surprised they haven’t been banished by now.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

How about using profanity, showing obscene photos, insulting other members. Or is it just making people feel "uncomfortable"?

But back to that question: What is the dues-paying membership of 2018?

Anonymous said...

Seriously? They pick and choose the “ground rules” they choose to enforce based on the persons backing of the TA and Management. They let total bullies comment with absolutely no repercussions because those people speak highly of the TA and management, meanwhile the people who speak out against the TA and management are told to DM Peter Stuyvesant.

As I’ve said before - people come on here and say that the bloggers here are not taken seriously because we are anonymous. The exact same can be said of Peter Stuyvesant. They are brave behind the shade of an alias.

"Arguing that it would be its plan or nothing, the city won the conditional support of Community Board 6 (Stuyvesant Town/Gramercy) and Community Board 3 (Lower East Side). the latter of which added a list of 28 changes it would like to see made to the plan."

Stuy Town Reporter said...

More from the link above: "The battle over the future of East River Park comes at a time when the Lower East Side’s poor and working-class residents are being squeezed from all directions. Decades of government disinvestment have created an excuse for the city and federal government to begin transferring the day-to-day management of NYCHA developments to private companies. Plans are afoot to build market-rate housing on “infill” spaces currently occupied by senior centers and parking lots. Extell is putting the final touches on One Manhattan Square, an 80-story glass condominium tower at the foot of the Manhattan Bridge, and developers want to place four more luxury towers (See Briefing Room, P6) along the same shorefront."

Anonymous said...

Why don't they replace the "Ecker" monuments instead of putting up tributes to Vets who are all either dead or close to 100 ? ST/PCV was built for "people of moderate means" not for veterans. It just so happens that the NYC housing shortage at the time came at the end of WWII when many vets were looking for apartments. They gave extra consideration to them when renting, but it wasn't a premise of the creation of the development.

Oh, and the answer to my question is obvious, I just wanted to post the irony.

Did Susan take a seaplane back from the Hamptons to attend that fake event held by 13th Precinct recently, and get her picture taken for T&V? Of course, Master Rick was there, too. They would have to mention true affordable housing, not the fake one that is referred to now.

I am for a Vet tribute, but against this one. Why? I don't trust Blackstone and Company. Note, that this tribute and the beer & wine and the Citibike Playground 8 and those egg-shell swinging chairs are all very close together. Blackstone and Company (and, yes, I include Management) want everything to be front and center and seen for promotion purposes. Then, too, if there is a Vet monument, who is anyone to complain about the other things that will be staged for this group or that one?

My idea is to have a Vet monument placed away from "the activity" and someplace nice and quiet (reasonably so) that people can sit and pay respects or just contemplate. Not where it is at.

In fact, they “flagged” one of ours for removal, even though it was in fact registered, they just missed it, ooopsies!

And in the turning lemons into lemonade vein, Mismanagement is now clearing out the cluttered storage facility by “donating” all this confiscated personal property to charity and spinning it as PR...

Killer 8/8/19 Yelp review. I know a family in PCV who has gone through the same BS, SPS tells them there is nothing that they can do (they still live there). Sad, PCV used to be the "upscale' version of ST. Now it's just another dorm dump, another "Sty" Town.

"We left PCVST 2 months ago after 35+ years of living there in a deep stabilized apartment. Why did we leave? Because despite this management company's constant "we make living here better", they allowed the terms of OUR lease to be violated. They continued to allow a terrible upstairs neighbor to constantly and consistently break the terms of their lease and cause noise disruptions at all hours of the day and night. Between running up and down the apartment as early as 5am and as late as 11pm, bouncing balls on hardwood floors, screaming at all hours, TRAMPOLINE USE, and intentional stomping up and down after founded security complaints, management chose to tell us there was nothing that could be done. Neighbors complained about the same noises as they carry over to different units and still, nothing was done. For the health of my children (one of which has a medical condition) and our sanity, we had to leave.

Unless you are prepared to be told "There is nothing we can do" about a neighbor who clearly violates the terms of their lease, neighbors on the same floor who have parties on Tuesday nights causing walls to shake, vomit in the hallways after said parties, dog feces on the street, and smiling phony faces, I wouldn't live here. To give up a deep stabilized, two bedroom apartment in the lower east side of Manhattan should speak volumes to anyone looking to pay market rate for the same experience.

And, if you keep asking them to protect YOUR rights, be prepared to have them threaten YOU and accuse you of being disruptive. It's a real treat. In conclusion, before we are asked to take this review down, as far as we are concerned, our vacate was the direct result of a constructive eviction by a neglectful landlord."

Anonymous said...

Worse

Anonymous said...

Sorry that you had to experience that, but it is a common occurrence here. That is their standard answer, “nothing we can do”. I received the same response when I complained about a terrible pot odor from the frat apartment downstairs. They told me that people can do what they want in their own apartments. Fortunately an unusually proactive PS found it an environmental hazard and rectified the situation. If you were market rate they might have treated you in a better manner.

I meant “they might have been treated better and sorry about them, not you.

Blackstone is Satanic and so are the minions who work as their “managers.” They destroy people’s lives for the sake of the Almighty Dollar.

Who cares??? Rick provides movies and kids night out events, so everything is cool! If they just spent a little more time in the oval and a little less time in their apartment, they would have loved it here so much more and their upstairs neighbors wouldn’t have been a bother. People need to appreciate the oval events and stop caring about getting peace and quiet in their apartments - just remember, the only thing that matters is oval events.

Obviously I’m being facetious, and it’s horrible what happened to that family. Unfortunately this is the new reality - a management team that doesn’t give a damn about anything but making $$$ and a TA who doesn’t fight management on a single thing. NOT ONE! And don’t even dare say stupid Lyft signs.

I was talking to a dad that I met at one of the playgrounds earlier this week, and he gave me some pretty interesting news. He said his wife and a number of other members of Stuy Moms have a monthly meeting with Rick about their concerns and ideas. They have been meeting him monthly for over a year.

To me that sounds like they have more influence over what’s going on here then the TA. Pretty pathetic that the TA just starts bringing up about getting a seat at the “table” when a group of moms have been there a while.

Susan, just leave already. We are all sick of you and your groups photo ops.

I would imagine that most of these “moms and dads” are market rate tenants who pay a lot for their apartments each month. I don’t think Slick Rick cares too much about this place and needs to be replaced by somebody with less smarm and a pair of balls. It is deteriorating into a slum very rapidly. The TA is totally worthless. If anything they do us more harm than good.

Atomic Man said...

Pretty pathetic that the TA just starts bringing up about getting a seat at the “table” when a group of moms have been there a while.

Not surprising at all. I’d bet dollars to doughnuts that the Stuy Moms are market raters, and TA members not. They can choose to leave, and would probably get a better deal elsewhere for what they’re paying here. Long term rent regulated tenants can’t (despite REBNY’s continual assertion that we all have summer houses in the country...).

Anonymous said...

The Stuy moms do not care about the state of the property for the most part. Obviously they are more concerned with dog rights and entertainment. Whatever gives you the idea that this group is interested in the appearance of this property. Hardly anyone complains about the slum like conditions. DIVIDE AND CONQUER: The "moms" cabal here - Blackstone is BRIILIANT. THEY ARE UTTERLY BRILLIANT AT SPLITTING PEOPLE APART, CREATING WARRING CAMPS, AND MAKING THEMSELVES APPEAR TO BE BENEVOLENT, KIND PEOPLE WHO CHAMPION WHAT IS RIGHT.

Take a good look-read, please:

"WE HAVE PARTNERED WITH STUYTOWN . . ."

Thank you to 3:31 A.M.

I do not believe that any of us understand the corrosive, manipulative machinations and actions of Blackstone here. It is clearly MUCH WORSE, much uglier and unscrupulous than I'd imagined.

Regarding the "fat woman who smokes outside 4 Oval:" If I see her, I will go out there and get rid of her. I have spoken to a good many people who smoke outside of buildings. And I'm no cop, Rambo, military person. Just a plain old person.

As I have been writing for a couple of years now, there is PLENTY that individuals can do to stop some of the appalling and harmful behavior of other individuals.

Someone in my building keeps throwing parts of newspapers and books all over the lobby shelf like it is a lending library. These people just make more work for the poor Porter and clutter up the entranceway. Looks tacky and cheap. I understand this is occurring in many buildings, junk accumulation on the shelves. Don’t these people know how to live in a residential building? Give the books to a library or charity.

Yeah, it's tough in New York with the rents.

Ditto big time. Not just books, but shoes, clothes, appliances etc. I dump then in the re-cycle room.

"The people who definitely have summer houses in the country are the members of the TA Board."

Members? There is just one. It was in the T&V. Name the others, please. Nothing wrong in blasting the TA, just have your facts straight.

"John Sheehy, treasurer of the ST-PCV Tenants Association, recalls exactly the moment when he learned of The Blackstone Group’s interest in Stuyvesant Town.

Sheehy, who has a summer home in East Hampton,"

"The Stuy moms do not care about the state of the property for the most part. Obviously they are more concerned with dog rights and entertainment. Whatever gives you the idea that this group is interested in the appearance of this property. Hardly anyone complains about the slum like conditions. Stuyvesant Town moms are another name for cheerleaders. Slick Rick wants to keep them happy because they pay the big market rents. They will probably be priced out anyway in a year or so. I do agree with you about the bogus worthless TA."

10:14 AM. Spot on re the ST Moms.
