The Truth About Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village

For those of you who are new to this complex, and even if you are not, but need reminders. From the Daily News, Dec. 16, 1976:

Membership at the time of the Tenants Association was reported as only 2,000.

Another article by the Daily News from October 10, 1982 states that the figure for membership in the TA is 1,000, a droppage of 1,000 since 1976.

Well we have fewer playgrounds now and more fucking Citibike docks. I'm sure there'll be e-scooter docks soon. I am going to be literally afraid to go outside soon - and I'm not that old.

Boy! This place has gone to total HELL over the last few years. I hope Hayduk and his crew never get a decent night's sleep for the rest of their rotten, useless lives. They don't deserve to.

This morning they are having another dog run in playground 3 (basketball court)in PCV. There was one last Saturday too - it used to be every other Ssturday morning. Playground 3 also has green areas on each side of it - they used to alternate which side to open up for a dog toilet - now it seems to be both sides at the same time. Slowly but surely, the noise and dirt creep continues....

Meanwhile avoid the dog do-do and piss.

So many Airbnb’s seen around the sty today. Was out less than a half hour and must have seen about six or seven. I keep seeing people in my building whom I have never seen before. What a transient/student dump this is.

@3:10 PM: Same in my building. I refused to let one in yesterday and another one today. Of course, someone else let them in on both occasions. We have NO security here. NO safety. NO TA and NO Management that gives a damn. When someone is killed, maybe Management will wake up. But I wouldn't count on it.

Dog days: odd numbered Saturdays are in PCV, even in Stuy town.

They just hang around the door (usually looking at their phones, but with sidelong glances to see if anyone is coming). I hang back, but always someone coming out or going in will just let them in with no hesitation. One guy kept banging on the door while I was getting my mail yesterday. I ignored him and he banged louder and was getting annoyed. Of course, he got in by piggy-backing somebody. I don't know what we can do about it because I am no going to physically attempt to stop somebody and get myself knocked out in the process. I'm a short, skinny, elderly lady. No heroic attempts on my part. I don't think anything can be done about it. With no doorman and laughable security, it's a lost cause.

Yes it is a lost cause. At 2:30 AM some drunken bro was ringing my intercom. He was weaving back and forth. Rang three times. Just as I was going to call security, he went out and took his phone out to call someone, while looking at a paper. Probably had the wrong Airbnb.

@5:20 PM: I have had that experience many times. I keep my intercom turned off unless I am actually expecting a visitor. Sick of being disturbed, especially late at night. I hate to get out of bed and see some asshole leering into the camera! I'm glad we can turn the ringer off. These intercoms are not worth the permanent MCI we are paying for them, but I appreciate the "ringer off" feature.

This place is getting like a sleazy Times Square hotel, except we have LESS security. They really did cut the security force down to the bone, no matter what Lying Dick says.

FFS point to the sign on the door which states: YOU see it every day. Stop letting the creeps in stealing our packages and what else? Head back to the elevator or stairs and exit out back. Duh.

Just a note on the ST cafe. Although I do Enjoy socializing with my friends there on Friday nights there are a few things that annoy me. Full of yapping dogs lying all over the place, uninspired mediocre, overpriced menu including overpriced frozen yogurt, music too loud and incompetent workers behind counter(not all but a few). I rarely eat their food anymore.

JUST HOW THE HELL DO WE STOP THEM COMING IN WITHOUT GETTING INTO SOME KIND OF PHYSICAL ALTERCATION? DUH!

I think someone would have to be absolutely desperate to spend a dime or ingest a bite at the E-Coli Cafe! I wouldn't eat there if they were giving away their food for free! It's disgusting! Gross!

They will wait until something bad happens before doing something about the rampant AirBNB going on here. They will then release the following statement:

“Management has been working tirelessly to weed out illegal rentals in Stuy Town. We offer our prayers to the victim of this incident. Please come to one of our upcoming self-defense classes, which will be co-sponsored by the PCVST TA. - Rick”
