Citi-bike Rules Playground 9

So I passed by Playground 9 (that's the playground that has those Citi-bikes), and found that the actual playground is closed for repainting, etc. But not closed is Citi-bike. Playground 9 was recently worked on, but now, in September, the playground will be closed for basketball. Makes no sense. A normal company, if work needs to be done (a big question mark), would close the playground at the winter months, but not in September!

Unless, of course, Citi-bike requires an "adjustment" at that playground, and time can't be wasted with Citi-bike and our incompetent Management. (Or maybe Management is very competent, but doesn't bother about residents in this situation.)

Regarding the rule of walking your Citi-bike. BS. Today I passed by two Citi-bikes that were not being walked in the pathway by Playground 9.

A big failure. Enjoy September.

I have never seen a single person walking their bike in the pathway leading up to the playground 9 entrance where the Citibikes are. Not one!

The bike riding on the sidewalks all over this property are a disaster waiting to happen. With all the kids and elderly around here, Rick is a complete moron for bringing more bikes onto the sidewalks of this property, as if there weren’t enough already.

It’s only a matter of time before something tragic happens, but I really don’t think Rick cares about the blood that will be on his hands when it does.

Thank you - I appreciate this blog and the information it provides.

A different topic: last night a "make-up" movie was shown. WHY? Blackstone disingenuously seeks to link themselves to Met Life's 1947 construction here of our homes mainly for returning World War II veterans, makes a huge big deal about "veterans," even up to and including killing trees and other vegetation.

Flags were flown here at half mast to honor the dead and dying of September 11, 2001, 18 years ago.

SO WHY, ON 9/11, WOULD THESE MORONS AND INSENSITIVE JERKS PLAY MOVIES???

Many of us were hurting on what ought have been declared a national day of mourning 19 years ago.

Is the little gold mine now an albatross around the neck of Blackstone? Cry me a river.

This was the worst - as in very worst - landlord we could have been sold to and I will never, ever forgive the Mayor, the vile politicians and the faux tenants' association for colluding with and selling us to the Devil.

I wouldn't worry about it. They are looking for illegal partitions and paint peeling. If the paint is peeling, they may schedule a paint job.

Blackstone is doing exactly what Blackstone does: it buys property and wrings as much money out of it as it can and then let’s it run down to a slum. When Rick leaves here we will keep track of him and make sure his damage and indifference follow him to his next endeavor. He has treated us like shit and destroyed our once-happy, safe homes.
As a manager all he’s managed to do is ruin our peace and quality of life to the extent we are living in a filthy, noisy, unsafe slum.
Btw, I’m not walking over to Campos to vote. If I have to go to a NYCHA slum to vote, it should be THIS one! The one that Stuyvesant Town has become..

Pro-REBNY business media Crains New York quotes incredibly conflicted PCVST TA Board President Susan Steinberg defending Blackstone successfully executing Speyer's failed business plan and MCI/IAI policies.

https://www.crainsnewyork.com/real-estate/blackstone-halts-stuy-town-upgrades-wake-rent-regs-overhaul

"...Susan Steinberg, president of the tenants association for Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village, told Crain's that she had heard of work stoppages but hadn't yet received details of what jobs would be affected ..."I INTEND TO ASK THE PROPERTY MANAGEMENT," STEINBERG SAID. "I HAVE NO DOUBT THEY'RE CONSIDERING THEIR STRATEGY UNDER THE NEW RENT LAWS."
...It wasn't immediately clear if Blackstone was in the midst of any MCI work or if it would halt those jobs as well. BUT STEINBERG SAID THAT RENT INCREASES FOR MCIS HAD GENERALLY BEEN MODEST AT THE COMPLEX IN THE PAST..."WE HAVE SO MANY UNITS THAT THE RENT INCREASES FOR EACH TENANT WAS SPREAD AMONG SO MANY THAT IT WAS GENERALLY PRETTY LOW," STEINBERG SAID."...

Just to be sure for clarification purposes, same Crains New York article's followup forum includes post that also cites Steinberg's comments supporting REBNY/Blackstone for same reason.

"...Avatar

"... major capital improvements are necessary to properly maintain old buildings. Both owners and tenants are screwed by the new rent laws. Only foolish socialist Dems who don't understand or care how capitalism works can possibly be happy with this outcome. EVEN THE TENANT REP AT STUY TOWN SAID PRIOR MCI INCREASES HAD BEEN SMALL. So who benefits now? Unfortunately NY voters elected morons to lead us."

It’s official, Associated is done. Email from Rick H about it. Of course he had to throw in a spiel about how SPS would try and replace the space with a similar store. Bottom line is they are looking for the highest paying occupant, whoever that might be. And I am fine with that, but don’t feed us BS saying otherwise.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Stuy Town Reporter said...

I can't believe some, but not close to all, of the comments on the other site, the TA. What you are losing is an option. No one is saying shop at Associated for every item. And, please, don't tell me to go to 3rd Ave or down Ave C. Too far away for "everyday" food needs.

Partly, this is the work of Stuy Town Management and Blackstone. BS that they really care about the residents here. Yeah, they care, but they care more about MONEY.

Anonymous said...

Note that the commenter from Crain's incorrectly identifies Steinberg as a "TENANT REP." She is not--only 'represents' herself and a mere handful (likely LESS than 78) of (probably part-time) 'residents'. And how exactly does Susan define "MODEST" MCIs?

My lobby is frequently filled with boxes from Amazon and other online grocery sellers. The boxes sit there for days. Considering how heavy they are (too heavy to push out of the way to get to the mail boxes) I don't know how people get them up to their apartments. They are a fire hazard because they block egress and I'm sure the stuff in them is rotting, judging by the smell of some of them. If Amazon does deign to bring them up to the floors, they just shove them out of the elevator and into the hallway where they sit for hours (sometimes a couple of days) causing a tripping hazard and fire hazard.

As this is more and more a transient and AirbnB community, people don't fill their shelves and cupboards with household supplies anymore; instead, they order a shitload of stuff from Amazon to last a few days. A lot of it gets delivered to the wrong building where it sits for several days and then who knows what happens to it. I cant be bothered doing anything more than kicking it out the way these days because my days of being a "good neighbor" went away with the sense of security and safety that no longer exists in this Blackstone shithole. Thanks Rick. You ..... fill in the blank to rhyme with Rick.

I am totally pissed off that they are closing Associated. One more reason to get out of this high-priced slum. We are paying an arm and a leg to live in a place with no real amenities. A decent supermarket within walking distance is an amenity. I don't consider Trader Joe to be a decent supermarket. When we moved in we were a little disappointed that Associated was so small and had limited variety, but soon got to love that store because it had all the basic essentials and at a very reasonable price.

They have a lot of nerve charging the rents they charge to live in a scruffy slum in no-man's land. It was much better when we moved in five years ago. Will NOT be renewing lease at the end of November and will broadcast far and wide the truth about the quality of life and low level of management here.

Perhaps a reminder of who the landlord is partnered with is needed.
When Stuytown first sold in 2006, at the same time Blackstone and Brookfield partnered in a $9 Billion deal on office space. Blackstone and Brookfield are long time partners.

OCTOBER 2006 CHICAGO TORONTO BLACKSTONE BROOKFIELD PARTNERSHIP

https://www.blackstone.com/media/press-releases/article/trizec-properties-completes-acquisition-by-brookfield-properties-and-blackstone

In 2011 the Brookfield-Blackstone partnership became a three party team when the City Councilman stood alongside Brookfield announcing the partnership with the StuyTown Tenant Association.

https://town-village.com/2011/12/02/st-pcv-ta-to-partner-with-brookfield-on-bid/

Brookfield, Blackstone and the Tenant Association have been in a sordid partnership since at least 2011 and Blackstone and Brookfield many years before that.

Whether or not Brookfield is still in the StuyTown partnership, who knows. But it is public knowledge by their own self-promoting that Blackstone and the Tenant Association have been working hand in hand since at least 2011. In 2016 the Tenant Association publicly took credit for making the Blackstone ownership of StuyTown happen. Anyone who has that infamous link to the Tenant Association heavily hyping and heaping praise for the Blackstone landlord management team in 2016, please post it.

That is where we stand, and where the Tenant Association with the landlord stands.

I hope Associated doesn't close before Christmas. I hope it doesn't close at all! If/when it does close I will walk down to the branch on Avenue C and buy a ton of stuff and then take a cab home. The cost of the cab will be easily offset by what I will save by going to Associated. I am probably one of their best customers and I'm not giving up on them easily. For what it's worth, I shopped in Trader Joe's twice and threw away a lot of what I bought. Pre-prepared frozen food, poor quality frozen raw food and terrible in the produce department. Took almost an hour to get round and get to the cash register. Total rip-off shitholes are what TJs are, IMO. Whole Foods is better, but too expensive. Besides, I don't want to put money into Jeff Bezos pocket. I cancelled my Amazon Prime account because of Amazon's support of the NRA. Bastards with no conscience.

Here’s news of yet another black eye for our disgraceful owner, Blackstone. According to this NY Times article, in 2016 Blackstone bought TeamHealth, a company that owns physician practices and staffs emergency rooms around the country, in a deal valued at $6.1 billion. Now, Blackstone has been outed by the Times as one of the entities behind a dark money, political action group that has secretly been lobbying AGAINST the passage of federal legislation aimed at eradicating the large medical bills that have shocked many patients after emergency care. Apparently, there’s just no low too low for our greedy, sociopathic, master of the universe owner. As one of the comments on the article says, “well now you know why private equity firms are called vultures , it's your bones they are picking clean.” Another commenter said, “Blackstone involved again! Is there any nasty, underhanded thing that misses their involvement?” Another said, “Private equity. Pure evil.” Indeed. And this is who owns us. First, Blackstone was called out by the U.N. for its destructive housing practices. Then it was outed as helping to fund the destruction of the Amazon rainforest. And now this. What next? And you know there will be a next.

The only reason PCVST residents know anything about our corrupt, incredibly conflicted TA Board's nonprofit slush fund receipts from corrupt politicians (Garodnick/Powers) is because those corrupt NYC politicians were forced to specifically disclose those specific TA Board payments.

PCVST residents have no clue if or how much support (financial or otherwise) the incredibly conflicted TA Board received from any other entity. Moelis? Brookfield? Paul, Weiss, Rifkind? Blackstone? ...?

Lobbyist/TA Boardmember/NYC Councilman Powers' most recent $30,000 payment into our corrupted TA Board's nonprofit slush fund is equal to the amount a legitimate PCVST TA would collect annually from 600 loyal dues-paying members. This amount enables the incredibly conflicted, Vichy TA Board to operate secretly in shadows without ever having to account for itself, a phony cardboard puppet TA Board propped up, financed and publicly recognized by corrupt politicians and Blackstone pretending it represents PCVST residents it betrayed for years, while simultaneously repeatedly, publicly, falsely proclaiming itself to be the largest TA in the world.

Proof: Blackstone owns PCVST

The disgraced, corrupted, incredibly conflicted, Vichy TA Board will burn the books and dissolve itself before granting PCVST residents access to records revealing PCVST TA Board malfeasance dating back around 10 years to the first time they accepted money from Dan Garodnick without informing their PCVST neighbors/constituents.

He is not fit nor competent to run a property of this size and density of population. Blackstone should get rid of him and replace him with someone who knows what they are doing. We should also be rid of that incompetent Chief Martin and have a real Security presence restored to the property. We have NO Security (or call it Public Safety, if you will). The competent members of the force were fired and mall cops brought in and they have no qualifications for the job. Maybe this is a "next" or another in a long list of "nexts" to be outed. In the news, Blackstone, with others, are named in a just-filed lawsuit that began 2017, concerns the safety and well being of women and the unlawful use of cameras:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2019/09/17/kevin-hart-faces-60-million-lawsuit-2017-las-vegas-hotel-recording-montia-sabbag/2349527001/

Kevin Hart faces a $60 million lawsuit after model and actress Montia Sabbag accused the comedian of negligence, infliction of emotional distress and invasion of privacy stemming from a 2017 incident, according to court documents obtained by USA TODAY.

Sabbag made headlines with Hart in September 2017 after a video of the two having sex in a Las Vegas hotel room was uploaded online. She denied speculation at the time that she was suing or extorting the comedian, announcing she wanted to join forces with him against the person who illegally recorded them.

"My pictures and my name have been released with lies written about me," Sabbag told reporters in 2017. "I am not an extortionist. I am not a stripper. I am a recording artist and an actress and I have not broken any laws."

In a new lawsuit filed Sept. 16, 2019, she accuses Jonathan Todd Jackson of secretly recording her "without her knowledge or consent, while she was engaged in private, consensual sexual relations with Hart," according to the documents. Sabbag also is suing Hart, as well as hotel operators Marriott, Blackstone and the Cosmopolitan, for "negligently or intentionally" allowing Jackson access to his hotel room.

What makes you think that any manager that Blackstone hired to replace Slick Rick would be any different. Not a chance. They want a manager like him. They don’t care about competence. I have said this time and time again. If you are dreaming about a kind, competent manager coming out of this evil company, you can surely forget it. A pipe dream.

I don’t see how Blackstone is culpable for the sec in the hotel exploitation, but it is guilty of its role in destroying the Rain Forest, causing global housing shortages and owning flim flam medical bill

It's something like a 5 year construction site, partially disturbing the toxic areas from the gasworks that are below PCVST, lots of construction noise on 23rd Street, and other wonderful features. Naturally this is all masterminded by DiBlasio. (who also masterminded the idiotic bike lane placement on 20th st.)

this is a minor QOL issue but the fertilizer they are using this year--this is totally unacceptable.
I recall past years when they fertilized the plants and it was nothing at all like this. it smelled acrid for a few weeks, but this smells like bacteria and rotting flesh.

they've obviously switched suppliers and this is absolutely disgusting. I suspect they do these things to try to bully people into leaving, with these small QOL infractions. or they're trying to economize since they wont be raking in as much profit as they'd expected.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

I don't know what they are doing, but the smell is revolting. I'm surprised that some people are not passing out. Seriously.

For some of you older readers, remember the 1950's movie and song "Three Coins in a Fountain"?
Well, here is an updated 2019 version courtesy of our esteemed overseer Rick Hydick, property manager extraordinairre:

"Three turds in the elevator,
Smells near and far,
Piss in the stairwell,
Ain't that swell,
Vomit on the terrace floor,
A sight we all adore..."

There's a reason why the original owners planted many, many trees on the Oval and kept people (especially children) off of it. There is stuff buried deep under the ground that would make these Stuy Moms and Dads hair stand on end if they knew about it. There was a gas works on the property for many, many years before it was demolished and the place we know as Stuyvesant Town was built. Of course, the blood-sucking parasites who bought the property after MetLife departed only see the Oval as "a great resource." These short-sighted, money-hungry vermin would no doubt say the same thing about Yucca Mountain if they could buy it and develop it.

SMFH. A few years from now it will come to light what these monsters have done and they will be sued up the kazoo, but it will be too late by then for the human suffering to be undone.

Another email from Rick about ANOTHER robbery on the property. Rick and Fran Martin have lost control and need to step down. This place needs a new fresh start with new faces in charge, because the reactive (instead of proactive) emails just ain’t cutting it.

Rick, why are you waiting for two robberies in two days to step up security??? That approach is a joke, as is your insistence on wasting money on cheesy events instead of actual security. A true and strong security force is the best amenity you can offer, but you prefer focusing on stupidity. Go back to Florida already.

Hey suburban Mommies and Daddies - bring your precious snowflakes here if you don't care enough about them to see to it that they are in a safe place. So what's a few sexual assaults on young women and robbing of old ladies by those poor minority youths who De Blasio's heart bleeds for? All part of the rich fabric of Life in The Sty. Please just tell your offspring that just because this dump is an overpriced version of NYCHA, we don't like them pissing and puking in the halls and stairwells when they've had more booze than they can hold. Also, tell them that if they smoke weed and get drunk they will probably die because the weed prevents the necessary nausea to make em puke. As a former ER nurse, I've seen this happen many times. You don't want to remember them with their tats and nose rings and the additional adornment of a toe tag.

Another mugging at playground 1 in Pig Sty Town, a second one in as many days. Then we get a letter from Rick telling us how much they are doing to protect us. Increasing patrols, allowing the 13th precinct into the Pig Sty (for the first time in years) etc. Then he mentions Chief Martin. This is the same Chief Martin just mentioned in another post regarding a group of dogs being allowed to poop in the grass off leash. So, today I am walking across playground 1 in ST going from PCV to the train at union square. As I cross the playground, sure enough there is a rather large woman with 4 dogs in tow, releasing them 1 by 1 to do their business right in the lawn under apartment windows in 444 E 20th street, never picking up anything. I have to assume this was approximately the same time the original writer complained about.

So, Rick, how are we to have any confidence in the head of the department that is SUPPOSED to protect us when she can't even catch a large woman with 4 dogs, who comes in daily to trash the community, at the same time in the same location? I'm sure you'll lie and smirk as you lie. Hopefully, I will see you do that some day in person, you'll regret it then.

Something people should be aware of--in some places in pcvst, the toxic plume of byproducts and coal tar is as little as 5 feet below the surface.
In some places it's more buried of course, but some areas it's right there, and will be exposed with just a little digging (new plantings, maybe?)
It's impossible to precisely map this stuff since it moves and migrates, towArds the river to be exact. It is carcinogenic.

No joke--i would not raise kids here. For just myself, it's not too much of a risk, but children--hell no.

Also the venting system for the toxic gases are right in tbe green Areas in pcv--not sure if st has any yet

If theres a bleach smell now--thats not fertilizer. That's standard practice to try to cover up whatever they've found underground that's causing the smell. They wouldn't cover the fertilized grounds with bleach.

Concert one of the worst occurrences ever.

45-55 decibels is the safest limit for residential areas. It was deafening at 87.5 decibels tonight.

The character of the audience was questionable. Old or young, residents or invaders, customers of the intrusive Shake Shack truck; fake parents with young children and infants: all garbage people who don’t give a good goddamn if you would like to sleep or recover from an illness in your home. “Fuck you if you live here and your evening is destroyed. Blackstone is throwing us assholes a huge frigging party tonight and if you don’t like it, tough.”

THAT was tonight’s concert.

100% against the City Law. The City Commissioner can fine the landlord for his actions tonight.

The Oval is a toxic landfill. The stupid, ignorant rubes who pay major dollars to live here and who let their kiddiewinks play on the Oval are not to be blamed for not knowing this, but Management knows. It was not to protect the grass that kids were not allowed on the Oval, it was to protect the kids. The trees were a form of natural cleansing agent. The people who planted them were experienced, knowledgable horticulturists and new how to make a good thing out of a bad thing that would clean the air and atmosphere and bring pleasure to the people - just so long as the people knew not to go on the Oval. This bunch of ignorant, money-hungry idiots and their predecessors - TS, CWC - either didn't know or didn't care about what lies under the Oval, as well as much more of the property grounds. The did not do their due diligence and were prepared to risk the lives and longterm health of the idiots who thought a patch of grass was shangrila. Where did these dopes come from?????

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Okay. I went to both Stuy Town blogs to read the comments. I will say that some residents don't give a damn and actually delight in having other residents complain about the loud noise. Again, I do not face the Oval and my apartment is directed the other way, and I heard it. Past 8pm, too. Please understand, if you don't already, that Rick and team do not care about the "complainers." While they will listen to you, and "yes" your concerns, they do not care and may even laugh at you in private. The noise tonight should be the final straw for most of you who still harbor good intentions toward our Management company.

But for me: Guess what? This just makes me stronger. It confirms that I am doing right, even though few, if any, of "the powers that be" care.

My video on the main page is now almost 260 individual viewers. In a very short time. And I have other things planned. More videos, more "telling it like it is," more contact with news media. I will not stop. So, thank you, Management. You have done your job in more ways than you realize.

Leonard Green’s retail specialty ... has diversified, too, by investing in the fast food chain Shake Shack..."

Shack coming to Willis Tower - Restaurant, set to open in 2019, is first added in skyscraper’s expansion

"Shake Shack plans to open a restaurant in Willis Tower in 2019 ... The burger chain is the first restaurant announced for the new space by property owner Blackstone Group, which is extending the lower floors of the Wacker Drive skyscraper by 300,000 square feet and plans to fill that space with bars, restaurants, shops and entertainment. The expansion, which will be topped by a large outdoor space, is expected to cost $500 million."

Look forward to Blackstone filling up The Oval and surrounding area to the max with profit seeking commercial amenities: "bars, restaurants, shops and entertainment" coincidentally owned by Blackstone. These commercial amenities are provided by Blackstone for enjoyment of PCVST residents and their guests. Of course, any and all humans, animals and things entering into the PCVST complex are Blackstone's welcome guests.

I think you should allow for comments that also provide a counterpoint to what you publish to be heard. The citibikes are not the menace if most people do actually use them. The trouble is with the delivery people that fly by on the oval. Not everything set up here at Stuy Town is done with agenda and malice though there could be a better board and forum for opinions of all sides to be heard. If you do the same with your board that only agree with your opinion, it dilutes the value of your forum.

For residents near the oval- a suggestion - Next time the concert noise cranked up as loud as last night any resident trying to form a thought or hold a thought in their brain through the decibel torment should try to think about the fact that those moms and dads on the oval are having their big night out- and that’s it. With their trader joe or oval cafe wine aka mom juice in a sippy cup and their beers in hand and beer belly to match - they tell their friends it is just like seeing the boss in Central Park except it’s the F list B street washed up cover band in Stuy town the ghetto of peter cooper covered in stanky fertilizer - oh and their night out involves a voluminous amount of strollers which is just funny to anyone not delusional about what qualifies as entertainment - hold the thought as long as you can - feels a bit better right?

When STR takes his time to document a blog post, with photographic/video proof, it is very hard to counterpoint what he shows and writes about. If you are referring to posters on the blog, I’ve been here a while and definitely see all points being brought up. Problem is that a lot of these counterpoints are completely in line with the management/TA cheerleaders, and those people are nothing more than adult bullies.

Constructive conversations could go a long way, but we have way too many people here who tell others to deal with the noise/filth/crime, etc, or move out of here. Those people usually don’t stay long because most of the blog posters here are sick of hearing that on other forums.

YES, THE NOISE DISTURBANCE LAST NIGHT ("BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN TRIBUTE BAND"- not really. They played other non-Springsteen songs badly; their music was not properly balanced - I don't know the terms or technicalities, but a musician explained to me all about the screw-ups.) WAS ILLEGAL: 87.7 DECIBELS WHEN THE LIMIT IS WAY LOWER THAN THAT, AS HAS BEEN POSTED.

The morons who were out last night are EXACTLY, PRECISELY why predators and sadists and dictators, et al get away with their harmful activities: THE AUDIENCE IS GODDAMNED STUPID. EMOTIONALLY, PSYCHOLOGICALLY, MENTALLY STUPID.

Human creatures who can reason, question, ruminate, think, debate, use empathy and sympathy and logic don't behave like hedonistic, shallow hormone-driven adolescents intent on "having a good time, dude; and if you don't like it, go fuck yourself, because man, this is awesome."

The word finally came to me this morning after several hours of aural assault last night brought to you, ultimately, by the demented, deranged, psychopathic Stephen Schwarzman: Bacchanalia. "Binge, spree, debauch, wild" are all associated words.

It was a kind of free-for-all; I witnessed associated, tangential destructive behavior which was created by the uncontrolled "revelry."

For the love of decency: THIS IS PEOPLE'S HOMES AND HEALTH.

Humanity, generally, is beyond down the sh*t chute; it is in the sewers, and taking down every other form of life on this planet. And I just read that our "heroes," the astronauts, left bags and bags of their feces and other garbage on the Moon!

Stuyvesant Town/Peter Cooper Village are a splendid and consistent, ongoing example of what we have once more sunk to as "stewards" of the planet.

"AR, this is your lucky day! We finally got to sit down, live instead of dead, and spoke in person with our Management manager, who was also live. We haggled here and there over the table that we have, and our manager agreed that Blackstone has to pay for the smoke detector. However, Blackstone can legally charge $50 for this service, which will now be added to your bill. And don't forget the tax $4 tax!

"In other news. We have decided that this page has less psychological safety to our residents than we hope, so we have instituted this policy: No more will you be allowed to shame others by showing how self-entitled and lousy residents they are by exposing their faces. Also: Please refrain from stating your or another person's age. As a matter of fact, please refrain from any criticism of anything. We at TBASS love everyone and want to spread good cheer.

As I’ve said, anyone who praises blackstone and ANYTHING they do, including the management of this place, they are praising the destruction of this earth in many many ways. I also bet many of cheerleaders hate the current president, yet when they praise Blackstone in anything they do, they are praising one of our presidents biggest supporters. The same exact money from the same exact person that funds these events everyone loves is the same money going into his re-election coffers. Let that sink in for a minute...

@9:32 AM: I agree with everything you said except for one thing and that is that the funding of these events makes a dent in Blackstone's coffers. These cheap, cheesy "events" cost Blackstone next to nothing. The concerts are third-rate wannabes who are performing and they would probably pay for the opportunity to have such a large audience! By "large audience" I mean they are grateful for the 50 or so morons who attend the "concerts."

You are right about the people who cheerlead these "events" probably hating the President, but they looooove the assholes who fund him! Many of them are the very people Blackstone's owner and the President despises and scorns. They'd have them Roy Cohned to death in a nanosecond, given the opportunity!

Anonymous said...

I didn’t say they make a dent in their coffers, because obviously they don’t. I said the events come from the same coffers that are going towards the re-election of a person they hate.

And now that we are a few days removed from the climate change walk-out, I ask all the hypocrites/ignorants - how many of you attended the walk the day after attending a concert on the oval provided by the company that is playing a huge role in destroying the rain forest??

The problem with all these social justice warriors is that they want the world to change around them, but don’t want to give up their own personal luxuries to help in that matter. Do as I say, not as I do - the mantra of way too many people these days.

Security, blackstone, the Oval Fountain, non-parents and defiant children:

The Oval Fountain has become a location for patently very dangerous behavior by both children and adults alike. There have been numerous incidents in and around the Fountain, all of them positively vibrating with extreme danger to life and limb.

There were the days of sanity when no one could even sit on the edge of the Fountain, let alone play chicken on it, dance around it, stroll around it, hang into the water WITHOUT BEING STOPPED AND/OR PREVENTED FROM DOING SO.

I was recently treated to several full-blown examples of what has become the norm here. A number of junior high school age children were sitting on the edge; one was walking/dancing on top of the edge. No one, include all of their "fathers" who were sitting on the polluted Oval grass, stopped them. Neither did any Security.

Truly alarmed and worried, I went to them and told them to get off of the fountain edge, and explained how extremely, extremely dangerous were their actions and why. The defiance smoldered in their eyes. After initially leaving, they decided to return and continue this behavior, anyway. When a Security Guard went to them to stop them, a group of "fathers" stalked over. And ARGUED WITH THE SECURITY GUARD, BACKING THEIR CHILDREN'S RIGHT TO DANGEROUS PLAY AT/ON THE STUYVESANT TOWN OVAL FOUNTAIN.

This Security Officer had previously described to me the futility of speaking with either children or "parents" because they ignore the Security Guards, argue with them, and so on. I heard a particularly offensive, repulsive "father" assert the children's right to at least "sit" on the fountain's edge.

I phoned Security, reaching another Security Guard who informs me THEY CAN DO NOTHING ABOUT THIS PERSISTENT, COMMONPLACE, NORMALIZED BEHAVIOR. The "parents" (having sex which results in the conception and delivery of a child does NOT equal parenthood) do not give a damn what Security says to them; no lease violations are issued.

To those of you who say, "wait until there is a serious accident and a lawsuit:" blackstone either does not care even about "bad" publicity or court actions, or they actually glory in it - I'm not certain which or both.

Can something be done about this particular, limited problem? YES. If enough thinking, caring grown-ups stopped the kids' VERY DANGEROUS ACTIONS, and politely, but firmly, stood up to the "parents" consistently - I think it would probably be ended.

But, as the 6:50 A.M. poster so superbly put it: in less elegant language, people complain and they ain't gonna actually do nuthin'!

Someone posted a picture on FB a few days ago of a homeless person sleeping on the ground. It is scary how lax the enforcement of basic rules is here in STPCV. It all starts to unravel & that's when you lose control. Unfortunately, we are now almost 98% unraveled. Beware!!!!

Was at Butch’s playground commemoration today and the turnout was nice, definitely more people than I usually see in the oval for the cheesy events! Unfortunately there were politicians there who cared more about hearing themselves speak , which is what they are best at.

Look at these phony reviews on Yelp. All on the same day and similar wording. Hey Stuytown you have to buy phony positive reviews???

I do not have a word to describe how happy I am to be able to find a house in such a short amount of time. The whole team is absolutely professional and on top of their game. Special thanks to Jordan and Ingrid for their tailored work for us. Deeply touched.
Thank you guys

Ingrid Ingargiola at Beam Living made our experience exceptional. She was very pleasant and well informed and efficient at her job and got us in and out and on our way with the lease signed surprisingly fairly quick as these thing go. Thank you Indgrid!!!

I would also like to give Mrs. LaShon a huge shout out as her patience and professionalism made the paperwork process almost enjoyable(joking exaggeration), thank you Mrs. LaShon!!!

Highly recommend this neighborhood complex to live, its a beautiful tranquil oasis in middle of the amazing chaos of NYC.

@1:21 PM: You are right, the entire property is getting worse and worse. Since the changes in the rent laws petulant Management has let go many workers who are vital to the quality of life here, e.g., plumbers, electricians, Public Safety personnel and maintenance. Very soon we will be in a worse state than NYCHA and when the students and AirbnB trade dries up because of the dangers of this dump, then who knows what will happen.

While congrats is welcome for Butch, I don't trust that Blackstone/Management motives are innocent. I don't. Too much faith has been lost for a while.

As for politicians... Well, I'm sure they will herald the ceremony with photos of them.

The main page video of uncovered mattresses is over 300 viewers now.

I almost never believe 5 star reviews on Yelp anymore. Way too many companies out there that you can pay a few bucks to for a good review.

These 3 fall into the “not a chance in hell that they are real” category.

Anonymous said...

The garbage dumping doesn’t help. I see homeless people picking at the trash on the loops. Real classy Slick Rick.

Anonymous said...

Not the right viewers. Nobody cares.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

LOL. Sure.... And how do you know who are the viewers???

Anonymous said...

Just going by the fact that the situation keeps getting worse here, not better. I approve of the photos going out, I used to put them out myself. Does not seem like Blackstone is changing anything. In fact they are becoming more unconcerned with the state of the property. More and louder events, more doggie benefits, more students and transients and a filthier look to the area.

Anonymous said...

Agreed, everything here is excessively commercialized and nobody is doing a damn thing about it. Take a look at the Halloween festival details, it screams commercialization.

Again, this place was unique for such a long time because it provided a peaceful and quiet oasis in the bustling city. Now there is nothing even remotely close to that here.

I saw a homeless guy sneak behind the bushes near a building by one of the playgrounds and take a leak.
He didn't even try to be even a little be discreet.
Gimme a break.
There are little children here.
They don't need to see this.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Funny you should mention that. I saw an outsider (kinda looked like a bum) pull down his "drawers" and take a leak in a basketball playground in PCV. It's De Blasio time!

Anonymous said...

Of course this place appeals to homeless people - no need to worry about whether local shelter has an empty bed with all the gently used mattresses available curbside at Stuy town.

Anonymous said...

The little children here have been known to use the trees here as a bathroom at direction of their parents so the homeless are not going to show the residents here anything that shocks the conscience

I wonder if Rick Hayduk ran the resort in Florida as badly as he runs this place? I'm surprised anyone would hire him.

Anonymous said...

Hayduk is just what Blackstone wants to destroy this property. I can’t even call it a community any longer. Any manager they put in would do exactly as he does.I have said this over and over that Slick Rick does their bidding and he does it well.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

For what Blackstone wants to do, Rick is fine.

PCV basketball court had about 15 high school kids playing basketball today ( Friday ) . Cursing, hanging on the hoop, taking over the 2 courts. They do not live here bc I overheard their conversations about taking the train home. I am so very happy that we can accommodate them with our recreational amenities. Some residents -about 10 years old -came over to the playground & saw the group & went someplace else. No problem. I saw a Security person ride by & never came over to check IDs. Just another day in PCV. Good security.

Anonymous said...

6 39 pm yes and wait for this to become worse. Same at tennis last week Yet stuypcv dont care they dont do one fucking thing to check the key cards

Anonymous said...

6:39pm, we don’t have Security anymore. We have mall cops. Rick Hayduk doesn’t think we are worthy of real Security. He doesn’t give a flying fuck about anything but his paycheck.

The area between 14th and First and Avenue A across from ST is disgusting. Homeless one after another and a flea market taking up most of the block. Often a pot smell abounds. A good match for the Pig Stuy. Why any one would move here is beyond me. This neighborhood hasn’t looked this bad in years.

Anonymous said...

They certainly don't keep the property as clean as it used to be. It looks really scruffy. It's a shame because it used to be so beautiful and it was a pleasure to see all the trees in the Oval. Now, it's a scruffy grass patch littered with all kinds of garbage.

The condition of Stuyvesant Town, Peter Cooper, 14th Street, First Avenue, and environs:

THIS IS ALL DELIBERATE. IT IS PART OF A PLAN TO TAKE OVER 14TH STREET AND ITS NEIGHBORHOODS, EVENTUALLY RIVER TO RIVER, AND INCLUDING BOTH RIVERS (HUDSON AND EAST RIVER).

It has been written about previously. It used to seem like some preposterous fiction someone had dreamed up. I didn't believe it, until I began to pay more attention to what is happening in my once safe and peaceful neighborhood.

Originally, a bunch of investors, including some huge Chinese concern, Dalian Wanda, a Chinese multinational conglomerate based in Beijing, schemed to turn the East River into a playground for billionaires on their yachts, complete with 5 star hotels and condominiums and such at places such as the former Peter Cooper Village. I much later read Michael Bloomberg was working on having the East River included as part of the course for the yacht world cup, whatever it is called. The demolition of Peter Cooper Village to make way for hotels and condos did not go through, obviously.

If you look at the Hudson Yards horror show near the Hudson River, you'll have some idea of what the ba*tards are doing to this city (other cities, all over the world, too).

The planned sequence of destruction of neighborhood, demolition of buildings and other solid objects, and ensuing erection of playthings for the super rich is not known, I don't think, except to the people involved with the planning.

What I do know is that this is all DELIBERATE. Take a look at what is going to happen to the land, vegetation and animals at the water's edge here on the East River. Again, as I've urged before, Naomi Klein's book, Shock Doctrine, is instructive reading.

Although Richard Hayduk is the public face and mouthpiece of the degradation, danger, and nauseating destruction of our homes and environs, he is NOT the author of it. blackstone, other companies and humans, notably politicians and bankers and lawyers and such folks, are doing this.

Filth, germs, invited infiltration by strangers, noise, reduction and/or denial of services, advertising which opens us up to all manner of invaders (including criminals who rob, assault, mug, rape), actions which are constructive eviction, threats and bullying, pollution of all sorts and types and dangers, rape and ruination of land itself . . . the list is much longer and varied than this.

ANYTHING and EVERYTHING YOU WITNESS and EXPERIENCE HERE WHICH IS HARMFUL, NEGATIVE, DESTRUCTIVE . . . IS EITHER PLANNED . . . OR IT IS RECOGNIZED AND EMPLOYED AS ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO DEGRADE AND DESPOIL OUR HOME IN PURSUIT OF DERANGED DREAMS OF EXCEEDINGLY MENTALLY ILL PEOPLE.

Only 11:30 PM on Saturday night and hooting and hollering and braying bros have began.
Real class.

Anonymous said...

because they are greedy they could have nice better cleaner safer tenants if they didn't charge $5,000 for an apartment. Families could stay, couples could rent here.

Anonymous said...

This morning on my lobby shelf, some slob left a pair of five inch high heels.Who would do that. Besides the occasional papers and other crap. Slick Rick needs to put signs up that these buildings are not junk yards.

Anonymous said...

Used condoms on stairwell bannister this fine Sunday morning. Must have been quite a Saturday night.

Anonymous said...

Re: Basketball at PCV. I have lived facing the courts for going on 20 years or so. If you call the rec department they will come out and check ids and ask them to keep the noise down. Should you have to, no. But it's nothing new.

Anonymous said...

"Slick Rick needs to put signs up that these buildings are not junk yards."

Slick Rick doesn't mind if the entire property is one big junk yard.

Anonymous said...

Exactly. They profit from this demo and can careless as long as they get the 4 and 5 grand. They don’t care if five bros occupy an apartment or if it is an Airbnb. As long as they get the money,

Anonymous said...

Call it what it is Dormtown aka PCD peter cooper dorm

Anonymous said...

More junk on the lobby shelf tonight including an old painting. These people just throw their crap anywhere and our overworked porter has to remove it.

Anonymous said...

Big garbage bag "airmailed" out of window at my East 20th Street building.

Marvelous. Just like the projects back in the 70's and 80's.

Anonymous said...

I think we should take photographs of the junk, condoms on bannisters, garbage bags emailed out of window and send to newspapers. This is worse than the nastiest NYCHA slums. Crime, filth, noise, total degradation and all with Rick Hayduk's name over the door. Maybe he is deliberately allowing this because of the changes to the rent laws. Most of the apartments are at a very high rent already because of past conniving and faux renovations. If they drive out the high-paying tenants they will only be able to replace them with dorms and transients.

The NYT should do an expose on Blackstone's trashing of PCVST and Hayduk's name should be prominently featured. His mis-management of this property will follow him wherever he goes.

Anonymous said...

At least they aren’t reproducing....

These are the filthiest batch of scum yet.

Anonymous said...

I have been saying this all along, but tenants are fearful of doing this on their own. Of course it is the job of the TA but we know what they are, a bogus sham. Blackstone appears to have clout with the city and there is a feeling among tenants that the city is aware of these violations but does nothing. Thus going to the media is a risky proposition without proper backing and support. And I must add that many tenants here including long term ones admire and like Slick Rick and still see this property as great, not the slum that it is becoming.

Anonymous said...

I was hoping that the Gen Z student/post college transient demo that Blackstone markets to (just here-my many nephews and nieces who are fine) would be different from the preceding Millennials. However, they have seemed to have taken the Bro culture (and vocal fry-the horror) with them full stop as well. Narcissistic and self-entitled to the max.

Anonymous said...

The front doors to my building do not close properly.
Clearly they are misaligned.
You have to be Hercules to push them open.
This is most difficult for the elderly.
When I asked the porter if Management is aware he said, "They know. I told them.
That was a couple of months ago. What can I do?"
Hey, Rick. Get on the ball.

Anonymous said...

So, we live in a slum now. Just have to make the most of it.

Anonymous said...

We are mostly deathly afraid to speak up so we do not lose our $1500 rentals here.

Anonymous said...

The above comment is the bottom line here. Individual tenants are wary about speaking up against this evil company. No support. Hear that Vichy TA. You could have helped with your lawyers but instead you are compliant with management. The worst kind of situation.

Over 20 years I have lived on 20th and 1st. There has been constant construction. Now the jackhammering and noise is the worst its ever been.
Does anyone know what the problem is on that corner that has taken over 20 years to fix?

Anonymous said...

"Afraid," or some type of "unconscious" is what is allowing this to happen.

As has been written before, concerted, unified action by a number of people might just make a difference.
