Excellent idea especially now that LL has announced the winddown of his blog, which , unfortunately, is now dominated by insulting and/or idiotic commentators.

That is a very good idea, especially in light of the fact that the Lux Living blog has been pretty much taken over by a couple of obsessive psychopaths who stalk posters who they don't like. Lux doesn't monitor his blog - even to the extent that he doesn't know the difference between Stuyvesant Town Reporter/Supporter/Retorter and not so much as offer an apology when he accuses one of being the other.

I agree with the above poster. LL has abandoned his blog (which hasn't been funny in a long time) and it's been taken over by a small group of idiots. It's not about Tishman Speyer and their negative affect on Stuyvesant Town anymore and THAT is what some of care about.

A shame that a great subversive tool like Lux Living could be itself subverted and destroyed for no obvious gain whatsoever.

Unfortunately, a blog needs moderation, and Lux simply wasn't willing to moderate their own, and the blog simply won't function with an uncontrolled level of rancor and hostility among posters. Apparently, pissing into everyone else's beer is more important than saving their homes.

Perhaps things will change, but I'm not hanging around to find out.

BTW, this is essentially why the TA forums were shuttered. Hate to conspiracy theorize, but Tishman had great motivation to engineer this.

I think it's safe to say that Lux Living is history. It started off as a parody of Tishman Speyer's attempt to "luxify" Stuvyesant Town and it was very funny and smart; however, it has deterioriated into a flame war involving a couple of strange "ladies" of questionable intellect posting all kinds of filth and smut under many different aliases. The owner of the blog is MIA and has probably abandoned the site to the perverse (and that's putting it kindly). Let's hope that Stuyvesant Town Report can bring a little class and intelligence back to the shaming of Tishman Speyer.

I wonder if some of the out-of-control commentators at Lux's blog know how it all looks to an outsider--or not even an outsider, but to others that go to read Lux's blog religiously. I guess they just don't care, as long as they can get their shots in. But, yeah, one wonders if someone from TS isn't behind some of the "commentary" there.

May I inject a slightly lighter note into the discussion on Stuyvesant Town and its woes? This afternoon I was in my bedroom ironing clothes when I heard a sharp rap on my window. Being 5 floors up, I was a bit startled! When I went over to investigate, it turned out that the rapper was a beautiful male blue jay who was trying to get my attention! A few days ago, I had seen a couple of blue jays in the tree outside the bedroom window and, knowing they like peanuts, I left a couple of broken open peanuts on the window sill. Seems the guy had come back for more and was letting me know! I put out a couple of crushed walnuts on the window sill and sure enough, he came back and grabbed them. It's nice to see that birds are coming back to Stuy Town because for a long time there seemed to be nothing but the ubiquitous pigeons. I have to admire the nerve of this little guy -- actually rapping on my window to let me know he was hungry!

Both Lux Living and STR have addressed a lot of problems Tishman Speyer has brought to their new vision of Stuy Town. LL and STR have given a voice to those who would not have had one otherwise. So before you sit back and anonymously comment on how LL "hasn't been funny in a long time" ask yourself, what have YOU done to address any of the issues destroying your community.

PS

Don't confuse blog moderation with letting your entire readership post comments as "anonymous".

To me there's very little difference between allowing people to post under anonymous and allowing people to use fake names. Not sure of this, but it seems to me that so far no one has been posting under his or her real name (first and last) on either blog, and even if they were or are, who knows if that's the real name?

I used to allow people to post under anonymous. I still do, plus now I'm moderating the blog carefully by not allowing comments to pass that cross a line.

To add: I'm very pleased with my decision.

I am very sorry to see the Lux Living site close down. It was a great blog until the last few weeks when it became the exclusive domain of a small bunch of potty mouth loonies who ruined it for everyone else. I think that people became scared to post there! In fact, it was scary to just read it recently! To Lux Living, whoever you are, thank you for your efforts and for sharing your talents and good luck in your continuing endeavors.

May I address Luxie, in case he comes back to read this: Why didn't you just disable the comments? You didn't start out with comments. You could have just done your satire (as much as you have time for) as you did in the beginning? Why shut down totally? And why redirect to TS?

LL always had comments. Even when it was on the old "blogger" software. Always.

Thank G-d!. No wwe don't have to endure the contstant foul-mouthed bullying, and insulting vomitus spewing from some of the boys and Girl. They can take credit for destroying the tone of LL and should ahve been banned long ago.
