Not surprised. It is so lawless in PCVST. The management has been oppressive and criminal. This is what that breeds. We can thank all the authorities who allowed all the crimes here since 2010, DHCR, DOB, CC DanG, TA Board, NYAG, NYC DA, Sen BH, Assmb. BK, SS,

SS is probably the worse offender, all he does is all these analysis and audits he easily could have seen what is going on here is not kosher.

This claim sounds bogus.

Wow. So who told them to hire someone? Confusing.

Is it any wonder we don't want these characters coming into our apartments when we are not home, and why we resent being forced to give copies of our private lock keys to mismanagement? What a sleazy bunch of assholes we are subjected to at every turn.

Why would someone make something like this up? Knowing the history of shady crap that these people have done, is it surprising???? I don't doubt anything anymore. CR needs to go, and hopefully Blackstone is at least slightly better than these people.

@5:24
Take a look at the TA FB page. There are quite a few recent complaints about similar issues. Why would this be any different. Oh, and these are people who post their ACTUAL names, not on an anonymous blog.

Pretty sure that would never happen in Blackstone CEO Stephen Schwarzman's $31 million NYC apartment. We don't ask for much. Working plumbing should be a given, not a luxury.

CEO Stephen Schwarzman owns 5 homes—including a $31 million apartment in New York City and a mansion in Palm Beach worth over $21 million. The New Yorker labeled him "the designated villain of an era on Wall Street," following the $3 million 60th birthday bash he threw for himself.

Blackstone bull raising new buyout fund despite horrid private equity markets. Investors skeptical: shares down 25% this year and 55% since public offering last June. With Peter Peterson founded private equity shop in 1985 with $400,000 balance sheet; diversified into real estate, hedge funds. Firm now manages $119 billion. Schwarzman urging U.S. to embrace sovereign wealth fund investments. Likely successor: Hamilton ("Tony") James.

Off topic but important..or maybe it is not off topic as it is related to the toilet cess pool that is Albany, Skelos, Cuomo.

What happens in Nassau in this race is related to next year, the power of Democrats taking Albany

While we are not voting for any incumbents we hope to vote Democrat, as long as the party gives us options other than the cruddy incumbents.

Nassau DA race is an indicator on the Democrats power in Albany next year.....

"The contest is also viewed by political strategists outside Long Island as a test of corruption as an electoral concern. It is expected to be a major theme of Democratic campaigns in 2016, when the party hopes to take control of the State Senate.

Ms. Singas has described the Skelos case as a vivid illustration of what she calls pervasive corruption in Nassau, a key battleground in statewide elections. She said in an interview last week that Mr. Skelos, the area’s longtime guardian in Albany, should resign from the Legislature because of the gravity of the charges against him.

Ms. Murray, she said, emerged from the same powerful Republican political network that has dominated local elections and parceled out government jobs for more than a generation.

“She is born so much of the machine,” Ms. Singas said. “She is such a product of this clubhouse.” She stopped short of calling Ms. Murray personally corrupt, arguing, “She is part of a corrupted process.”

I just watched that press conference on the first ave loop. Steinberg said (at baruch) that there wasn't a public auction and that's why we ended up with Blackstone and that we should be thankful because they love us. At the press conference, unless I'm having auditory hallucinations, Alicia Glenn said that CW WAS going to go to auction and that's why they jumped in with Blackstone. It appears that the TA could have represented the tenants in this case but decided not to (yes, even real R/S tenants like me). It also appears that Steinberg was being less than forthcoming.

Anonymous said...

I would not be surprised - the employees are shady, the plumbers are not plumbers and the clean up crew in many buildings are harassing tenants. Yes, some are quite polite, some are just nasty and sinister.

Anonymous said...

I hope that Blackstone gets rid of all the CR employees with the exception of the porters and basic maintenance crew and hires some professional trained plumbers and electricians. We need to be able to have a real plumber available in emergency situations. In a property of this size and with so many tenants (plus bffs, unlisted room mates, overnighters, etc.,) there are bound to be plumbing emergencies at any time of the day or night. CW/CR has behaved exactly as a slumlord would. They have overfilled the property with a miscellany of tenants and cut the maintenance staff to the bare bones and even beyond that. They have no conscience about the fact that a very serious emergency could arise and could be life threatening.

CW/CR are as stupid as they are callous and evil. I hope that there will be a thorough audit of their finances and activities regarding PCVST because the whole outfit is rotten and corrupt from MacArthur to the nasty little so-called "property managers" and the sleazy, lying brokers. PCVST has been used as an ATM for the most corrupt and vile grifters who ever existed. It's time these filthy scumbags paid for their crimes.

9 :44 ok, but Blackstone will be far worse. Sticky this.

I'm not surprised. My friend dropped a small bottle cap down the bathroom sink drain and was warned by the plumbers she would be charged $75 by mgmt. When I called to have kitchen light replaced they wanted $75 $30 of which for florescent. Instead got it done by local hardware store at about $30 including $5 for florescent.
Mgmt quoted $150 for a small replacement piece in fridge (plastic clip & metal rail on freeze door. So I live without. And, so it goes just like with lockouts.

Anonymous said...

They are responsible for repairs to your fridge because they own it. These bloodsuckers really push the proverbial envelope.

Anonymous said...

MetLife used to fix and replace kitchen lights and repairs and plumbing at no cost. They impeccably "maintained" the grounds, homes,

Anonymous said...

The problem is Compass Rock management. They are horribly inept and ill-equipped to run a property of this size. They were basically created out of nothing so CW could pay itself to manage the property. It's a complete joke. Any time I had someone come to my apartment to fix something -- plumbers, electricians, you name it -- they all roll their eyes when I speak of compass rock and the job they do. They don't train their staff in the basics of customer service, they don't care about their employees, they don't train them properly, there's zero accountability in the way things are done. Just awful from top to bottom. They need to be kicked to the curb.

More Crap

Familiar name Brian Moriarty, along with familiar faces seen around PCVST and they are tied to Cuomo and the Committee To Save New York.

Rob Speyer, Andrew Cuomo and The Committee To Save New York have had their claws in this community all along.

DKC PR Spin firm (is this firm really saying they are a non-profit or are my eyes tricking me?)

http://dkcnews.com/brian-moriarty/

http://dkcnews.com/our-team/

Prior to Mercury, the Committee retained public relations firm DKC, which has ties
to Cuomo through its chairman, Dan Klores, a close friend of the governor. DKC
managing director William Cunningham, who handled the Committee account,
worked on Mario Cuomo’s 1983 campaign for governor with Andrew Cuomo, as
well. DKC’s John Marino is close to Cuomo, having served as a campaign adviser on three of Mario Cuomo’s campaigns.
26
The Committee also retained DKC’s Allison Lee as a lobbyist. As HUD Secretary, Cuomo appointed Lee as his “Acting Secretary’s Representative for New York and New Jersey.”
27
The Committee dropped DKC as its lobbyist in late 2011.
28
Many individuals linked to the Committee have given substantial sums to Cuomo.
One of the Committee’s three board members, Rob Speyer, maxed out to Cuomo
during the 2010 cycle, giving $55,900, and subsequently began organizing the
Committee.
29
Speyer’s real estate firm, Tishman Speyer, incorporated the Committee
in late 2010 and pledged $1 million in contributions.

Then there was this Brian Moriarty doozy

All the PCVST articles in Town & Village call Brian Moriarty a spokesman for CW or Compass Rock with NEVER any mention that he is actually an employee at the PR firm DKC.

Why deliberately hide that fact?

The biggest shake down of tenants in Peter Cooper Village Stuy Town

DKC Cuomo Speyer The Committee To Save New York

Anonymous said...

Cuomo put Blackstone in charge of the Port Authority to "save New York City" but really it is to give himself a large legacy so nobody sees the monumental failures throughout NY State Cuomo keeps talking about "Saving New York City" and his spokespeople keep cleaning up the mess trying to convince reporters Cuomo never used those words....those words so reminiscent of The Speyer Cuomo Committee To Save New York that will surely catch Preet Bharara's eye one day, if not already.

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/lovett-andrew-cuomo-save-new-york-city-article-1.2419865

The article illustration is a hoot

Anonymous said...

Every eviction, construction, golub harassment, everything was done by Cuomo, The Committee To Save New York while DKC PR firm spun it so they could hide behind Compass Rock CW. Brian Moriarty is always depicted in Town & Village as spokepserson for CW or Compass Rock when really he is DKC, Cuomo's right hand fixers.

Garodnick, Schneiderman, Steinberg, Marsh, Doyle, Salacan never told the tenants about Rob Speyer DKC Andrew Cuomo Committee To Save New York

They never informed the tenants of what was going on, who was doing it.

They kept tenants in the dark, giving us bad advice and runaround to have us go in circles instead of helping us to stop the killing of the trees, construction of the Open Space.

When we question MCI's or construction they would give us useless advice so they could make sure Peter Cooper Village Stuyvesant Town construction went up and the number of Peter Cooper Village Stuyvesant Town Rent Stabilized apartments went down.

Sure enough, construction went up and the number of affordable RS apartments went down by 6000.

Useless was the bullhorn rally outside Cuomo's office that did not help rent laws. What would have been useful to garner results for tenants would be to reveal the truth behind Cuomo Speyer dirty operations to Save New York.

Garnering results for tenants was not on the agenda. Garnering PR for Hoylman, Garodnick, Marsh, Steinberg, as pro-tenant but achieving no results for tenants is precisely what deliberately happened as designed by the top PR firms Berlin Rosen, DKC.

Anyone who spoke against this plan got the wrath of Team Committee To Save NY and Steinberg Marsh Garodnick Hoylman and all their lobbyist PR bankster law firms and political allies.

Doing the dirty deeds and covering up the tracks.

After Speyer stopped paying his mortgage, DKC pretended to stop affiliation and relationship with Cuomo Committee To Save New York Speyer and stepped up their "spokesperson" role for CompassRock CW fly by night skeletal shell company as if they are independent of Cuomo Speyer (HA!).

DKC, Global Strategy Group, Berlin Rosen, SKDKnickerbocker call themselves PR firms, but they are lobbyists.
Nothing more than lobbyists.
Lobbyists with intimate relationships with corrupt politicians Cuomo.

Brian Moriarty and Joe DePlasco of Lobby PR firm DKC for Cuomo / Speyer comments on the sale to Blackstone:
http://town-village.com/2015/10/19/stuy-town-for-sale/

Still no journalistic investigation or even matter of fact mention of details from Town & Village on who Joe DePlasco and Brian Moriarty really are. Town & Village for years omitted that well known fact.

DKC
Cuomo and Speyer's fixers.

Fixers who alternate between two strategies:
1. bolstering Cuomo in a positive way
2. attacking those who don’t agree with him.

With number 2 being a DKC super specialty they offer to clients.

Disagree with Cuomo and DKC will carry out Cuomo's vindictive vengeance on you.

The TA in it's current state is just a mouthpiece for Dan Garodnick. They care not if the represent the Tenants of PCVST. They exist merely to serve Dan and Dan is a wholly owned biatch of the wealthy overlords of NYC. The sad part is that the money these overlords provide guarantees that the little biatches they own will continue to get re-elected over and over again. I can hold my head high and state for the record that I did not sit home and complain about Dan I went out and was one of the 30% who voted against him.

CHOPPING LIVING SPACES - SOUND FAMILIAR?

"Landlords in Bay Ridge, Bensonhurst, and Dyker Heights are violating building and fire codes by subdividing small homes into multi-family apartments at an alarming rate, locals said. The practice creates dangerous living conditions and strains city services"

Brooklyn and Queens have the same problems as PCV ST. Dirty Incumbent politicians pretending to be and hyper-promoting their efforts going after landlords when they are actually going after tenants and with the same software FBI CIA NYPD use to catch terrorists and money launderers (which the politicians are all too happy to let the real money launderers get off scott free living high in towers in the sky)

Palantir

First the Moreland Commission tried to use it to rid Albany of corruption but Cuomo and Schneiderman put a stop to the Moreland Commission.

"Moreland’s staffers began to look at how money had been flowing through Albany with spotty oversight. Perry suggested hiring K2 Intelligence, a data-analysis and security firm. Using a program called Palantir, which has been effective in tracing money-laundering by terrorists, K2 would try to connect any dots between campaign donations, bills in the State Legislature, state grants, lobbyist payments, and the private employment of state senators and assemblymen. It was a massive, never-before-attempted undertaking that required the gathering of thousands of records. Just their translation into a common format would take months to complete."

http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer/2015/10/how-cuomos-bid-to-clean-up-albany-backfired.html?mid=twitter_dailyintelligencer

Then after stopping Palantir being used on them, Cuomo and Schneiderman turned it onto constituents, regular citizens, using Palantir (again usually used to catch terrorists and money launderers) on ordinary citizens to catch tenants renting out their apartments. Again, not to catch illegal buildings or landlords, but to catch tenants in Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan.

http://queenscrap.blogspot.com/2015/01/city-not-properly-tracking-illegal.html

If they have a program that tracks the illegal hotels, then it should be easy enough to track illegal conversions, whether through the Mayor’s Office of Special Enforcement or through the Department of Buildings,” said Councilman Vincent Gentile (D–Bay Ridge). “We reached out to the Mayor’s Office, and so far no one could give us an answer as to why they’re not using this for illegal conversions.”

"New Yorkers registered upwards of 100,000 complaints to the Department of Buildings through 311 in 2014 — 1,100 about illegal hotels and 26,000 for illegal home conversions, city data shows

A spokesman could not provide the number of inspectors the department employs, but reports put the figure around 200.

Software like Palantir helps agencies make the most of their staff, an official said.

“Thirty percent more work with the same exact staff,” the acting director of the Mayor’s Office of Special Enforcement, Elan Parra, told WYNC. “I guess maybe you could call it ‘Moneyball’ for quality-of-life violations.”

But Mayor’s Office of Special Enforcement focuses on quality of life issues — not buildings issues, a spokeswoman said.

Buildings/illegal conversion issues ARE quality of life issues. HELLO? "

The incumbents are tracking tenants, not landlords like they try to say. Schneiderman / Cuomo / De Blasio are using the Mayors Office of Special Enforcement and Office of Attorney General to help RE evict tenants and convert and chop homes in Queens, Brooklyn, Manhattan. Real good use of Palantir pols, and still you did not kick out enough from here to reach your goals.

The pols are using Palantir, treating tenants like terrorists while they ignore our reports and complaints of illegal conversions, illegal occupancy, landlord crimes.

Mr Cuomo, Mr Schneiderman, Mr De Blasio - Tenants are not Terrorists!
STOP invading our personal lives and finances!

Anonymous said...

We are not the only ones Cuomo, Schneiderman, City Council and City Hall and Mayors Office of Special Enforcement are doing this to. This Office of Special Enforcement was set up by Bloomberg to deal with quality of life issues brothels, etc

"OSE is responsible for coordinating enforcement efforts across City agencies to address quality of life issues related to notorious adult use locations, lawless clubs, trademark counterfeiting bazaars and illegal conversions of apartment buildings into hotels."

These REBNY owned pols are using the OSE to harass individual tenants, not illegal building conversions. It is pathetic. Its happening all across the city, all 5 boroughs. A big REBNY spectacle by OSE under authority of Schneiderman Cuomo.

If any of us ever has to call an outside plumber because Compass Crock refuses to provide one in an emergency, we should just deduct the cost from the rent. Also, deduct costs of damaged carpets, furniture, etc. whenever there is a flood or drain/toilet back-up that they refuse to respond to. Take photographs and record all phone calls with the cretins because it will probably end in court.

The people who work in Resident Services are not cretins, nor are they bad people in any way, shape or form. They are working stiffs who, unfortunately, work for a bunch of incompetent "managers." They are not Compass Rock; they are simply employed by CR and have to do as they're told. i have always found them to be very polite, helpful and pleasant, even if they could not accommodate my request for faster and/or better service. I hope that these people are retained by Blackstone, but all of the management of Compass Rock are shown the door immediately. In fact, I think that the people in Resident Services are probably the same people who worked for Rose. They don't change; management does. I'd love to see Donalda disappear into the sunset, but she is the exception.

People already did that earlier on this blog. Look at the old comments on the students telling their neighbors about Macraken and the $20K. Is that what you are referring to?

Last year some PCV ST residents, (not the TA Board members) were outspoken against the illegal unsafe fire-hazard chopped dorms and the construction of the Open Spaces and put a lot of information on the dorms and the students and the grant and their jobs inspecting. They put a lot of information on STR for a long time now. There is a lot of stuff there.

The TA Board, Dan, Scneiderman, De Blasio, Hoylman, Kavanaugh want chopped up dorms and the office bunker. That is crystal clear at this point. They are doing this everywhere across the city.

PCVST is a dirty deal, there has to be something on all the big dirty RE deals and contracts from Port Authority La Guardia to Buffal Billion to Peter Cooper Village Stuyvesant Town the country's once largest now insignificant middle class housing, in the documents Preet Bharara subpoenaed a year ago on Cuomo "saving" NY.

Anonymous said...

The OSE was set up to deal with illegal conversions. It is a public domain entity and taxpayer supported, the results of their work should be publicly displayed. The press reported ratio of individual tenants to building landlord investigations / cases is deeply troubling indeed; as is the ratio of "investigations" to actual guilty parties.

The OSE is fishing too, and ruining innocent people while allowing guilty landlords to chop homes and change occupancy while the DOB allows fraud and false filings. No surprise the DOB has inspectors as members of the OSE.

Politicians tell citizens to report false complaints if they are being falsely accused to 311, not 911, but 311. OSE declared 311 too passive and upped its status to criminal investigation not civil but if you are falsely accused as are tens of thousands across NYC then you still have to deal on a civil complaint level with 311 despite two things
1. by their own admission the OSE aggressors are using criminal investigation tactics
2. calling 311 to make a civil complaint against a false criminal investigation is absurdly skewed and the tenants are basically reporting the crime against them to the criminals committing the crimes. I do believe that is the new definition of insanity.

The system is set up so the tenants fail, have no protections, and the landlords keep chopping affordable rent stabilized housing into illegal market rate unstable dorms and apartments.

The entire city is a mess, the system to clean up the mess is corrupted. The incumbents who set up the system are the problem.

To the "Real RS Tenant" and the "me too", that's all well and good but you do realize that you both live like like animals in an overpriced housing project (yes, even real RS is overpriced)? You have people on top of you,to the right, to the left, underneath leading to no privacy. Walls so thin that you can here you neighbor farting. The grounds where you live are filthy and strewn with urine and fecal matter (although perhaps you may be contributing to that cause).

If the market rate for living like an animal is $4000 per month and you pay $1500, you have a good deal, but you're still living like an animal in a kennel. Keep celebrating. Oh yeah, real R/S resident here who was too stupid to buy something a decade ago because I have this "great deal".

The NYU frat sites, alums, and student's own instagrams linkedin and blogs and the neighborhood blogs EVGrieve and STR and the apartment listing sites have been talking about the Stuy Town NYU deal and their personal student experiences living and working here has been posted in comments countless times. No need to do it all over again. Just read the history of comments. It is all there. I have never had one of the frat houses near me but my other MR (I am MR) friends have. MR complaints on frat houses go back to 2009 and not one bit of press or opposition from Dan or from the TA. As far as I am concerned Dan and TA silence on the frat house says it all. Disappointing too was the TA Dan advice to RS on the golub complaints. This review says it all about a lot of legal filings that could have been made on behalf of tenants.

The diminution in services over the years is clearly a basis for a complex-wide filing with the DHCR to apply for rent reduction based on violations of DHCR rules relating to diminution of services to rent stabilized apartments. Calls for the TA to act on this for several years have been ignored while the TA focused almost all of its attention on its failed mission to acquire STPCV

The DOB lists thousands upon thousands of chopped apartments with no change in occupancy. Dan is not stupid, neither is Susan Steinberg or John Marsh or Al Doyle who never published the monthly tally or addresses or brought appropriate awareness to the sheer number of chopped apartments each month and the unrelated occupants. Come on 10:00 PM. One guy posted a comment recently about an elderly woman who couldn't take the frat party harassment she moved. Not one stink was raised on her behalf by Garodnick's office or the TA. There is plenty reported on the students and frats. As far as putting videos of students on youtube, that seems harsh. New School counts Stuy Town as one of its campus locations for the Wall street Oasis intern program

TTG413IB(Senior Baboon, 241 ) on 2/17/15 at 12:58am

New School Application just opened up for summer intern housing for either their Stuy-town location, or Kerry Hall location.

Both are newly renovated, and seem like a much better alternative than NYU- and cheaper.

Somebody on the TA fb posted a very interesting article from the WSJ about how CW has profited hand-over-fist from stretching out its time as "special servicer." It is really sickening how these bloodsucking bastards have bled the property. We need a MASSIVE change in the system that lets them get away with this.

Wait a second! Didn't that "white knight" that DG and the TA provided us with (you know, Blattman) say that there was no place for that extra money (above and beyond the 3 billion dollar mortgage) to go? Do you mean to tell me that there is currently 2.3 billion dollars with nowhere to go? I wonder....I'd be willing to give a few of those sheckles a home. He did say that, I heard it with my own ears.

The obvious point of the above commentator is that the bigger if not biggest issue facing tenants is a corrupt DOB allowing landlord / developer city-wide chopping and changing occupancy while claiming no change in occupancy and the DHCR allowing the huge unit jumps in rents without question and both allowing additional room counts not factored into MCI calculations.

>>The DOB lists thousands upon thousands of chopped apartments with no change in occupancy. Dan is not stupid, neither is Susan Steinberg or John Marsh or Al Doyle who never published the monthly tally or addresses or brought appropriate awareness to the sheer number of chopped apartments each month and the unrelated occupants.<<

Does anyone know if there was ANY movement on the part of the TA or Garodnick to get to the bottom of this? I, and others, have been squawking about this for a long while, but the TA and Dan seem to have ignored the issue.

We really do need to know room counts. They have changed drastically, and so should our MCI's.

I think that Dan and the TA are as corrupt as they come. The TA is in the pockets of the corrupt politicians. They make me sick.

These temporary student housing deals are disgusting and the TA ignores them. There are also illegal hotels, I have met families of tourists staying in ST apartments.

Not sure what all your verbiage means or even suggests. Per usual. Anyway, the idea that "Marsh and Dan' would enter into an arrangement with CWCapital to use idiot students to harass away old time RS tenants stretches believability. To further suggest that said idiot students would be let in on this conspiracy suggests that the original commenter thinks readers here would buy a bridge in Brooklyn from him. Apparently at least one would. And it's not me.

Dan don't care. Kabish?

Anonymous said...

8 31 why don't you report it to CR then? They'd love the tip off !

Anonymous said...

What's a "kabish?" A kabbage (sic) crossed with a radish?

does management know women are coming in (and men) from other hoods to use our laundry rooms as a business? wash, dry, fold, - $20 a load...

and duh.

That's Funny! Some people DO have a sense of humor.

12:49 PM: if that's the case then PS should be alerted and kick them out!

Anonymous said...

well yeah, everyone knows there are people coming in to do the laundry here that do not reside here. Check your laundry room for that open door, left ajar purposely. That makes it easier for them to go in and out of the building and back and forth.

Why doesn't Associated move to gristedes then? It doesn't seem that Gristedes even cares to get fresh foods, better meat or any fairly priced items. It's rarely busy and I'm sure losing money.
