Thief Caught in Peter Cooper Village

http://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20151014/stuy-town/thief-caught-looting-mail-peter-cooper-village-police-say

"STUYVESANT TOWN — Police arrested a man for allegedly going on a package-stealing spree in Peter Copper Village, strolling from floor to floor and rooting through piles of delivery packages, according to a police report."

More at the above link.

The moral of the story is that tenants have to be on the alert for such robberies and report anything suspicious immediately to Public Safety (212) 598-5233.

Also, from Resident Help at the PCVSTLiving.com site:

"Public Safety can also be reached by using any of the 36 blue light phones located around the property or the intercom in each of the building lobbies. These phones call directly to Public Safety Headquarters and are fully outfitted with cameras so officers can maintain visual contact with the caller."

Did the security cameras nab the perp?

Just wondering.

Management won't post signs as they want this . they want us to move out, hoping by theft and robbery we'll choose to do so. Same with noise neighbor issue.

If he came to my building in Sty Town, he could save himself the trouble of going floor-to-floor. All the packages from USPS and FedEx and Amazon Laser are dumped in the lobby. Sometimes, FedEx leaves them on the Main Floor where there aren't even any mail boxes. It just happens to be more convenient for him to stroll from his truck on the 14th Street Loop and go in the Main door.

As long as Schneiderman and Cuomo keep working for The Committee To Save New York Rob Speyer, then the Courts and Police will too.

Criminals will have to get caught by Tenants. Crimes will have to be stopped and solved by Tenants. The spike in crime here is shameful.

Pickpockets, Stolen Mail, and Rapes in Peter Cooper Village Stuyvesant Town.

There is more crime here and the crimes are getting more and more violent.

With all the under cover police lurking around on the property harassing innocent tenants you would think they are deliberately letting the real criminals run amok.

Peter Cooper Village Stuyvesant Town is the epitome of why and how police and community relationships are broken. The polices are protecting and serving Wealthy Big Business Tishman Speyer and not this community.

So I just started using Amazon for purchase, arrives at my door on the designated time. I often see packages outside the mail boxes on our T level. Recently it was reported that door service was a curtesy and not a requirement, it does seem like worker/customer relationships have hit an all time low. This very scenario rings true for the various forms of workers employed by management. Are people simply numb to common curtesy or are those days just antiquated.

Its not even safe when they leave it at our doors. Our neighbor takes our packages, opens them, ruffles through the contents, then retapes it with clear tape over the original packing tape and puts it back at our door. He gossips about our packages to other neighbors. Then the circle of gossip comes back to us with the neighbor's names who know of the contents of boxes we have shipped and left at our door. This neighbors says he is just nosy, but what he is doing is a crime and scary invasion of our privacy.

Point is, PCVST has become lawless and reckless and creepy.

The real thieves are named Tishman-Speyer, Compass Cock and CW Capital.

USPS in our building is a mess. The mailman is shady and is always sitting around on the benches doing nothing. The mail is always in the wrong mailbox and even the wrong building.

Even medications and medical testing items are left in the lobby by FedEx and USPS. Some seniors can't get out to the drug store and depend on these deliveries.

If you sign up for UPS My Choice, you can elect to have a package held for you at the local UPS store, no charge.

There certainly is a lot more crime here than most of us get to hear about.
PS are sworn to secrecy.

?

Tenants have to catch the thieves?
Cameras are used after the fact instead of preventing the crime and protecting the tenants and keeping the property safe?
What kind of security system is this?

We have a neighbor in our building too who steals packages too. It used to be two neighbors who stole packages, but one moved away and now we are down to just the one guy who steals them.

HA

Well there you have it.

We have a system where corrupt Albany picks commissioners who ignore our rent overcharges and allow unsafe construction and illegal overcrowded apartments

and it is enabled by a system that is rigged to empower white collar crimes while over-incarcerating blue collar crimes

http://www.newsday.com/long-island/politics/spin-cycle/hofstra-u-attorney-cuomo-s-former-ethics-chair-among-candidate-picks-for-chief-judge-1.10967892

Who came up with the system where politicians choose judges and commissioners? That is what needs to end before anymore time is wasted on getting Cuomo to stop taking bribes from llc's.

Cuomo will never stop taking llc bribes. He will always find a loophole to let the money in to his coffer.

He should not be the same person appointed judges in the state.

We all know Albany is corrupt to the core and so to are the courts Albany appoints.

That is why landlords are getting away with murder and there is no justice.

A thief stole packages, that is a federal crime. Time to being in the FEDS on all the crimes here. That state courts are in on the crimes. We need the FEDS.

Notice the 20 somethings hanging around front doors, back doors just waiting for someone to come and walk in and open. I don't hold the door now for them. They have no keys and they're not residents. I often walk away and use another entrance! fuck em.

Our good old pals at security are at it again. I was just finishing a run along the river and there was a car in the service road on 20th street that was getting a flat fixed by a tow truck. Security happened to be the first car behind the truck and there was an NYPD car behind them. The PCVST security officer got impatient and yelled at the guy to move. NYPD then yelled at PCVST to calm down and wait the 2 minutes to finish fixing the flat.

It was nice to see this moron put in his place for something that took literally minutes. I can't imagine he was in a rush to do anything important!

Delivery of mail without interference is the law. It is a serious crime that it isn't a piddly city or state law, it is a federal law.

That is why there are individual locks on mailboxes, so the public, the management, the neighbors and strangers can't access our mail.

USPS gives access to our mail to property management and to neighbors and strangers.

The carriers leaving mail in public places is illegal.

USPS is interfering with mail delivery in a lot of ways that is illegal.

Off Topic - other PCVST news in T&V

Now the politicians are pulling a con on the public, using our taxpayer dollars to fund a transportation system designed for Langone NYU.

A 20th street ferry station is by far the stupidest thing they have done so far, and they have done really stupid things against constituents.

Building a 20th street ferry station, where Hurricane Sandy recently proved must have flood protection by an uninterrupted berm, is possibly their most or second most dangerous and reckless con yet.

20th street became a five foot deep river. But NYU Langone wants a personal transportation system funded by taxpayer dollars to up the "luxury" marketing. A one-stop on the ferry from NYU Langone housing in PCV / Stuy Town to NYU Medical Teaching Hospital and Center.

Taxpayer dollars used for Langone's personally designed transportation system so that short-term stay luxury housing in PCV and student housing in ST here has a luxury selling point of one quick stop to the medical facility.

The City Council is designing and building a taxpayer funded transportation system for billionaire NYU Langone's businesses.

Other than a marketing selling point for NYU Langone, there is no other need for a 20th street ferry station when the next stop is so near, at 34th.

Plus, for efficiency sake, ferry stations are not supposed to be so close together.

Little TidBit

At the same time the destruction of PCVST property and community occurred, the installation of the dorms, killing of the tree park, construction of the Open Spaces, beginning 2010 to present:

Andrew Kane, with CW Capital since July 2011 (before that with Rose Associates), who was quoted in Town & Village when he met with tenants on the construction of the open space for the Compass Rock office building bunker, is married to Jenny Sharfstein Kane since 2010.
(2010 the infamous year Rob Speyer made the $100 million deal with Andrew Cuomo with the Committee To Save New York.)

Jenny Sharfstein Kane worked with Rob Speyer, as the Director of Programs
at the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City
May 2010 – March 2014 (3 years 11 months)

The Mayors Fund to Advance New York is co-chaired by Chirlane McCray and Rob Speyer.

At no point did Bill De Blasio or Chirlane McCray do anything to stop the destruction of the open space, the property, the affordable housing turned dorms; while the entire time they worked alongside Rob Speyer and CW Capital Andrew Kane's
wife, Jenny Sharstein Kane.

Jenny's father Howard is a lawyer, Dartmouth alum, Paul Weiss alum, Jenny and siblings Dartmouth alums, and so is Mr Dan Garodnick - Paul Weiss alum, Dartmouth alum, and Dan was friendly and supportive of Andrew Kane during the office bunker anti-tenant meetings.

This pledge and letter to Andrew Kane Andrew MacArthur didn't nearly cover our costs and loss but it did give PCVST a clause that anyone who signed this and accepted the tiny abatement gave away their right to get back the full amount of loss. This trick was to cover PCVST and not to help tenants recover their losses.

11:41 AM: I would suggest you send a package to yourself that is full of something really gross (lots of options there) and let your neighbor open it; or maybe send something that is a jack-in-the-box type of thing you can buy from a joke shop and have it jump up and punch him in the face. I think your neighbors who know about this are not being fair by not telling this guy that he is committing a crime. I hope that one day you can catch him at it and take a photograph. He is a total sicko and should not be allowed to get away with his shit.

Just wondering, though, what do you order that excites his attention so much? ;-)
