Though They Love Us, Blackstone Did Not Do Much Research on What the Tenants Here Think

http://town-village.com/2015/10/22/residents-have-mixed-reactions-to-affordability-plan/

From the above article:

>>Residents also gave Blackstone’s Jonathan Gray an earful after the press conference. When one resident asked if CompassRock would continue to maintain the complex, he asked, “What do you think of them?” The tenant then said, “Get rid of them,” before several other tenants also began descending on him with their own complaints.<<

So Blackstone's Jonathan Gray doesn't have a clue that CompassRock is despised by tenants. Just has he doesn't have a clue that the tenants here have not chosen to live in this community because of amenities, which his company considers a "key part" of the longstanding culture here.

This Saturday at Baruch let's clue in Blackstone about what we want and what is going on here that we don't want.

The problem we have is that the apartment churn is part of the business model. It is profitable for them to have a high turnover. The can raise rents, further divide the space, keep security deposits. With the new plan, you will see a revolving door of market rate tenants. No one can afford to stay for the long-term as a market rate, and if you could you would not stay in PCVST. My feeling is that the dorm-model was a big win and the main selling point.

"which his company considers a "key part" of the longstanding culture here."

They are (Blackstone) probably referring to those infamous focus groups that CWC/CR did that were restricted to millennials only, their target demo. Just look at the BS on those paid for (CR, not Yelp) millennial Yelp reviews, same bogus crap about the great amenities.

To my neighbors on the outer buildings who keep saying how much they like the amenities and concerts, please consider it from your neighbors point of view.

The concerts are right outside our windows, as are all the Oval amenities. If it were right outside your window you might not like it as much. But you still have a big tall beautiful breezy tree, where we lost our tall trees and have loud movies and concerts that are not of our choice.

Please put yourself in our shoes before you go on and on about liking the amenities that are not right outside your windows.

All of them, pols and developers, play dumb when they have to come down from their thrones to speak with us peasants.

Nothing pisses them off more than peasants who are smarter than them, who don't take their crap, and who don't care if they like us or not.

I don't trust any of them, and have not yet met one I liked. I don't need to like them, I just need them to do their job.

Just reread the constitution to relearn what your job is and do your job.

So very relieved NYU will not be purchasing blocks of apartments and entire buildings. That door was wide open under Dan's plan and the city just shut it down - thank you City Hall.

Thank you Vickie for raising the issue and asking the question on T&V about the 20 years. Thank you City Hall for engaging in dialogue with the PCVST tenants. This administrations is much better than Bloomberg.

The TA top honchos (Steinberg, Marsh, Salacan, Doyle, et al) and Councilman Garodnick obviously knew about this upcoming sale for a long time, but chose to keep quiet about it. They led tenants to believe that there was still a chance of them buying their own apartments and never once said “That won’t happen, but something else will so stay tuned.” There’s something very dirty and deceitful about this. I don’t think the TA gives a ff about the tenants. They were onboard with the excavation of all the toxic soil and the chopping down of many beautiful, healthy trees in order for management to build that hideous bunker. They didn’t give a rat’s ass about the noise and filth and disruption caused to the tenants in the affected buildings. They don’t give a rat’s ass about anything except what suits them. What is the purpose of the TA? Does it have a purpose other than to pander to politicians who also don’t give a rat’s ass about us?

I don't know that detestable Rob Speyer has the nerve to show his ugly face in public, but he the Golden Boy of the REBNY and The Save New York Committee. That vile man just about instituted a pogrom against tenants here. He went after elderly people with a ruthlessness bordering on criminal. Some of us will never forget or forgive how he and his legal team tried to throw an elderly, severely handicapped lady (she has cerebral palsy) out of her home that she had lived in all her life because she got a little behind with her rent as a result of the Wall Street collapse (caused by ruthless scnorrers like Speyer and his ilk). She was saved by the NYT Neediest Cases Fund, and friends and neighbors who cared about her. That case alone is enough to put Speyer in the ranks of the most evil people in the world. Jerry Speyer and Lynne Tishman should be ashamed that they raised a son with no morals or decency or compassion. He is clearly a product of his upbringing. If he were my son, I would disown him rather than handing the business over to him! But then, I didn't raise a sociopath.

People who criticize DeBlasio should bear in mind that he is fighting an uphill battle against a bunch of people who are determined to derail him and his best efforts. Think Cuomo and Stringer. Stringer and, probably, Garodnick have their ambitious eyes on his job when the next election rolls around. We know that that trio are not without their penchant for back room deals and quid pro quos. I think I would vote for Charles Manson before I'd vote foe either of the slimy twosome of Garodnick and Stringer. Hopefully, Cuomo will be behind bars by then if Preet Bharara does job well and unimpeded.

It is important they give us the names of the people who are our landlords.
All of them.

Hiding behind shady llc shell corporations while they destroy entire communities is allowed by the current corrupt incumbent politicians.

We have a right to know the names of our landlords, the person / people's names.

Not their employees, but the actual landlords.

Incredible.

"So very relieved NYU will not be purchasing blocks of apartments and entire buildings."

What makes you think Blackstone can't sell entire buildings to NYU? Media reports specifically state the mayor's "regulatory agreement" with Blackstone runs with the property. Any party purchasing from Blackstone will be required to comply with the agreement. PCVST will still be called PCVST. That doesn't mean Blackstone can't sell entire buildings inside PCVST.

and

"Thank you City Hall for engaging in dialogue with the PCVST tenants."

On what planet did that City Hall - PCV Tenant dialogue take Place? Please identify the PCV tenants participating a dialogue that produced this awful outcome. With respect to a PCVST outcome there's not much difference between Bloomberg and de Blasio. Same Outcome - Different Route. All current RS tenants will be the final RS tenants residing in their PCVST homes.

Incredible.
