What Now?

Granite tiles in a fairly ugly puzzle pattern are now at the former chess board area:

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Oval, the destruction of that chess area proceeds:

Still remaining: the chess areas siding the above playground. Will they stay?

Off topic but the amount of garbage in the basement more than doubled, more than tripled. The number of different people I see on my floor and in the building elevator easily tripled. By my estimate we have at least 40,000 residents living here maybe nearing 50,000.

If they use that unsafe unhealthy illegal overcrowding as their excuse for constructing more buildings for a problem they illegally made, De Blasio's "build higher and denser" and his NYU Goldman Sachs administration are allowing it.

Why would a self-proclaimed progressive compose his administration with this century's most notorious bailed out business criminal Goldman Sachs and the most notorious real estate criminal NYU?

Seeing as 311 is not working on the drunk loud Garodnick sanctioned frat broho parties, maybe criminal charges are needed.

Truly an outrage how such a once lovely and bucolic breathe of fresh air in the urban jungle has been turned into a commercial strip shopping mall...for residents and their "guests' only of course.
My guess is we shall see the return of the soda vending machines they once had in the past.
I want my chess tables back!

Your comment on dog fight pits is disgusting even in jest.

Of course they are illegally overcrowding to create a problem that did not exist before so they can solve it with more buildings.

They are becoming more and more stupidly transparent.

Tishman Brookfield Speyer Garodnick Cuomo Stringer Steinberg and Marsh took over in 2010, hiding behind temporary grifters Compass Rock who go from location to location doing the dirty work and taking the blame when really it is the politicians orchestrating it all. The politicians are setting PCVST up in their con, so the politicians look like the good guys all along who were helpless then came in at the end declaring themselves as heroes to rescue and rebuild.

They will run articles about overcrowded trash, and do analysis needed for more buildings due to overcrowded apartments and buildings.

Stringer did his little fake "I'm a hero" for the people with the analysis he just did to set the next politician up to say we need more buildings to open the door to develop the Open Space. Garodnick? Hoylman?

Stringer is a BIG part of the problem in many many ways.

Pretty stupid when you think about it. It is the Open Space that makes this property healthy. Putting in more buildings as their answer to them overcrowding the apartments defeats the purpose of their argument, that increasing crowdedness is unhealthy.

Increasing the density of the property will not relieve the density of the buildings. It will further increase the density of the community, decreasing the health for us all.

Their argument for building and developing here that they are setting up and Stringer just did his absurd analysis is a dead end for the health of residents and a home run for JP Morgan Tishman Speyer Brookfield.

Seems Stringer's job is to use his office to do " rigged analysis" that set up and pave the way for Cuomo's Committee To Save New York" to takeover, to slam the Mayor and to use the same reports over and over for years for publicity.

Curing overcrowdedness with more buildings is going in the wrong direction.

Plus WS and RE will keep overpopulating buildings so politicians can trick the public into going along with more buildings and repeat that over and over until there exists no more Open Space.

Which they don't really need because all the new occupants won't actually reside in the luxury housing they use to launder money.

Scott Stringer has no business using taxpayer resources to write a report on the health of overcrowded housing except to help Cuomo, and we all know how tight Stringer Garodnick and Cuomo are.

Thick as thieves.

Well then it is not just a noise complaint especially when it occurs more than twice. After two reports to 311 with the names of the drunk loud partiers who piss in the stairways, it is now a 911 call for breach of peace, lewd acts, and whatever else public urination is.

After two calls to 311 I am calling 911.

Stupid is as stupid does.

Where's the fucking Tenants Association regarding the chess table debacle???

Anonymous said...

What is happening here is nothing less than criminal. The grifters have one plumber for the whole complex; one person to fix air conditioners, stoves and other appliances that break, and they have inadequate staff for cleaning the buildings while, at the same time, they filling them up with fucking students and their throw-away mentality.

I hope that some day there will be a full-scale investigation into what has happened, and continues to happen, here. A full-scale criminal investigation that results in convictions of the individuals responsible. The politicians and the so-called Tenants Association are up to their necks in collusion to bring about this state of affairs. The TA should be abolished because it is worse than useless; it is corrupt and run by liars.

October 7, 2015 at 2:22 PM Let's keep our fingers crossed that day is coming soon. Very soon.

Same Cuomo Committee To Save New York scam they are pulling in PCVST is under investigation in the Buffalo Billion

http://www.timesunion.com/tuplus-local/article/LeBrun-Buffalo-Billion-is-a-whole-different-6548533.php

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara has a federal grand jury looking for corruption in the awarding of contracts and related dealings associated with the so-called Buffalo Billion, and on its face, there's a lot to look at.

Consider:

• A billion taxpayer dollars being handed out to spur economic development in the typical manner the Cuomo administration does business, with as little public disclosure of the nitty-gritty as they can get away with.

• All contract approvals, funds dispersal, and fiscal oversight of the Buffalo Billion family of projects are the exclusive domain of the Empire State Development Corporation (RIP Mr Gabay), tightly controlled by the governor's office, with approval of the governor's Division of the Budget. In effect, the governor and a coterie of his closest advisors run it all.

The governor, a particularly astute fundraiser, amassed a reported $47 million (from the committee to save new york) in campaign contributions during the last election cycle, much of it from those who in some fashion have done or will do business with the state.

Eye-opening stuff, yet not necessarily even improper by past standards. In fact, much of it is business as usual.

While the Cuomo administration is secretive about releasing the financials and particulars associated with the governor's pet Buffalo Billion, there is an extensive protocol in place of fiscal oversight for most state contracts.

Although it's not clear how much of that oversight is in-house and also under the mantle of the governor's office in this case. What auditors and overseers would not necessarily be aware of, regardless of who they work for, are what transpired during contract negotiations, or any side arrangements or expectations that may have been made.

That's where the raft of subpoenas issued by Bharara's grand jury come in handy.

cont'd

http://www.timesunion.com/tuplus-local/article/LeBrun-Buffalo-Billion-is-a-whole-different-6548533.php

So there are indeed mitigations to the seeming fishiness. But those political donations stand, and stand tall, and there's little doubt they are of great interest to the U.S. attorney.

As for the governor's political fundraising, the governor himself has repeatedly said there is no connection between contributions and expectations of any reward, between pay and play.

It's a system that "hasn't been a problem for the past 100 years, so I don't know why it would be today."

(a lot of things that have been around for 100 years are still a problem, prostitution, gangs, mafia, New York government corruption, etc. Cuomo's arguments never ring true)

Then again, how naive is it to suggest contributors don't often want a tangible return on investment, or a way of saying thanks?

So just maybe what the governor shrugs off as no problem is in fact at the heart of the so-called corrupt Albany political culture.

If so, Bharara may well be about to try to redefine what is a problem.

That's good news for the public. Not so much for the governor.

I wouldn't mind being a member of the Tenants Association if I knew a bit about what they do! They don't seem to have meetings that are open to all members very often and when they do, it is usually some press opportunity for Garodnick and other politicians, though I applaud the meeting about the golub notices. I wasn't affected, but I suspect that enough people were affected that it was necessary to have such a meeting. I also suspect that it was mostly older tenants who were being harassed in that manner.

I think the TA would attract and sustain more membership if they were a bit more forthcoming about what they are all about and, most importantly, stood up to this mind-numbingly incompetent and property-destroying, tenant-abusing management. Isn't this supposed to be a temporary management, btw? They've been here waaay too long and have NOT been very good stewards of the mess that the Tishman Speyer losers left behind. Just my two-pennies worth!

WHY CUOMO AND CHRISTIE LET GE AND ROBBIE SPEYER OFF THE HOOK

Those deals, however, pale in comparison to the publicly-funded bailout financing that NBC’s parent, GE, got from the New York Fed during the financial crisis: $16.1 billion in emergency loans.

Incredibly, GE CEO Jeff Immelt sat on the New York Fed’s board at the time, essentially overseeing his own company’s bailout. Another Fed board member, Loews CEO James Tisch, joined GE’s board in June 2010.

Tisch is also a director of the Partnership for New York City and husband of Merryl Tisch, chancellor of the New York State Board of Regents.

This only scratches the surface of GE’s lengthy record as a corporate welfare recipient; as Matthew noted recently, the conflicts of interest surrounding GE’s business dealings are deep and ugly with all the attendant benefits.

***

By going to 30 Rock, Cuomo is tapping the corporate gravy train that fills the coffers of Tishman Speyer, GE, Lazard, et al, robs the state of much-needed revenue, and causes budget shortfalls.

Cuomo will put these funds to work protecting their tax breaks and promoting the absurd notion that public sector workers caused our budget problems, despite the obvious role of highly-leveraged, bailed-out financial conglomerates like GE and Tishman Speyer in sinking the economy in the first place.

The corporate power elite perpetuates itself through a vicious cycle. Cuomo seems to have gone along for the ride, and unless he faces something along the lines of a Wisconsin moment, he is unlikely to turn back.

The City Hall rally was part of the con, making us the fools, the background for Schumer to look like a hero and all their photo op speeches, it was all part of the con.

The Tishman 2010 plan is still in play and Schumer gave Speyer aka Brookfield the money from Fannie Freddie.

The same Schumer who gave Langone a billion dollars for new construction and an animal testing lab.

They con us, use us, take from us, and give to each other. They do not represent us or our values.

1:58 PM: The porters are used and abused and demoralized by this poor excuse for a management. The porters used to work very hard and keep the buildings clean inside and outside. We tenants knew them, trusted them, called on them for little "personal" jobs and tipped them for taking care of things and gave them nice cash gifts at the holidays.

Now, however, CR has given each porter several buildings to take care of, shifted them around so we don't even know who are porters are and, to add insult to injury, the porters have to deal with the massive amount of garbage (recyclable and not recyclable) that is regularly dumped in the recycling areas for the porters to deal with. This is not a normal residential complex any more. It is a dorm/AirBnB/revolving door non-community where nobody knows or cares about anybody and the porters are not dealing with familiar faces any more; they are dealing with dormies, transients, hipsters and who-the-hell-knows-what or who and their work has quadrupled (at least) while their numbers have diminished.

We are living under the regime of a so-called Special Servicer whose sole job it is to suck as much money out of the property as is humanly possible in order to satisfy the debt that the despicable Tishman Speyer and its partners saddled the property with. Speyer and his cohorts belong in jail, but they won't go there because the system is so crooked and rigged that their kind can get away with murder.

I hope that at some point in the future the situation here will be looked at by an impartial, but just eye and the Speyers and their co-criminals will be acknowledged for what they really are: Shit, Excrement; the dirtiest of the dirty.

Meantime, let's not blame the porters for the shit place that this now is and have a little sympathy for their plight.

Yeah, I'm familiar with the guy who used to place his feet on one of the chess tables all the time. That said, I'm surprised I have to repeat myself: I saw a week before the removal of those chess tables, people playing chess there. Not once, but twice; different people. It was not an area frequently used for chess, however. That area is on the other side of the Oval, but gone now, too.

Having chess tables at the Oval is a very nice idea, and a traditional one in this community. It should be supported, unless you'd rather have a vending machine in its place.
