Bloomberg Refused 2nd Slice of Pizza (If Only!)

http://dailycurrant.com/2013/05/02/bloomberg-refused-second-slice-of-pizza-at-local-restaurant/

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg was denied a second slice of pizza today at an Italian eatery in Brooklyn.  The owners of Collegno's Pizzeria say they refused to serve him more than one piece to protest Bloomberg's proposed soda ban, which would limit the portions of soda sold in the city.

Bloomberg was having an informal working lunch with city comptroller John Liu at the time and was enraged by the embarrassing prohibition. The owners would not relent, however, and the pair were forced to decamp to another restaurant to finish their meal.

Witnesses say the situation unfolded when as the two were looking over budget documents, they realized they needed more food than originally ordered.

"Hey, could I get another pepperoni over here?" Bloomberg asked owner Antonio Benito.

"I'm sorry sir," he replied, "we can't do that. You've reached your personal slice limit."

Mayor Bloomberg, not accustomed to being challenged, assumed that the owner was joking.

"OK, that's funny," he remarked, "because of the soda thing ... No, come on. I'm not kidding. I haven't eaten all morning, just send over another pepperoni."

"I'm sorry sir. We're serious," Benito insisted. "We've decided that eating more than one piece isn't healthy for you, and so we're forbidding you from doing it."

Sorry, not on point for this tread topic, but I thought that it would be important to get this out ASAP.

In today’s T&V (5/2/2013), page 2, a rather small paragraph proclaims:
“Town Hall for residents- A town hall meeting for residents will be head at the Stuyvesant Town Community Center on Tuesday , May 7, at 5.30 p.m. ST/PCV General Manager Sean Sullivan will be on hand to answer questions. The Stuyvesant Town Community Center is located at 449 East 14th Street.”

Off First Avenue, it’s on the 16th street in Stuyvesant Town. I think the 5.30 PM start time is rather ridiculous since everyone’s works insane hours in today’s economy but anyway, please spread the word, let’s have a good turnout.

I LOVE IT!!!!! KUDOS TO MR. BENITO!!! We need more people like him to stand up to this tinpot dictator!!

BTW, I recently read on a blog about recycling that, prior to becoming Mayor, Bloomberg absolutely refused to let his company recycle. He wouldn't even allow them to recycle paper!

This nasty little twerp should crawl back under his rock.

I am devastated to learn that this is only satire! OMG! How I hate that man! I could never be trusted to serve him food. He'd be writhing on the floor in agony within minutes and I'd be off to the slammer.

If only it were true. :-(

If you love Doucheberg, you will love Quinn. Remember, ANYBODY but Quinn.

It is sad that the 2 leading candidates for mayor of our great city are Christine Quinn and Anthony "I like to show my" Weiner. As much as I dislike Quinn, Weiner is a disgrace and even before his Twitter "adventure" his abysmal behavior as an attack dog politician was beneath contempt. So for me, anyone but Quinn and Weiner and, of course, the ethically , and likely legally challenged, Liu.

you got that right. I'd vote for Cannibal Cop before I'd vote for her. I wish Weiner would get our of the way because I think he is going to take voes (if he runs) that would go to a viable opponent of Quinn, though he wouldn't win. He could help her which is a frightening thought. These politicians and their outsize egos! If Weiner's weiner were as big as his ego, he could be in porn movies.

No one wants to talk about Roberts case and overcharges lately.

I guess we give up , as usual.

STR--
You misinterpreted 12:24's comment. S/he was saying that Drudge, a right-winger, is a moron for not getting that the story was satire.

If I misinterpreted, sorry, but the people posting here have been called right wingers by one person, so... I wonder.

12.24 here. I was posting that the Drudge Report, that sterling example of pseudo journalism in this country, got the satirical story totally wrong and posted it as “real” news . As far as posting the term “right wingers”, it was my first time posting that term here. Since we all currently live in RS apartments (Roberts apartments stay RS until 2020), the type of housing we live in is socialized housing at least. Or as Fox News would say, Communist/Marist/Lenin/Kenyan/Entitlement housing. BTW, it was Pataki and his Republican State Senate that destroyed this community by enacting vacancy decontrol to the RS law. That was the engine that drove the train of destruction here, not Dan or the TA, however incompetent they may be. Charles Bagli's “Other People's Money” is a must read for everyone who posts on this blog..

Okay. I misunderstood. My comment will be deleted.

STR, you misunderstood the comment about right winger, but you let slide the assertion that PCV/ST is socialist housing ?

Hey Anon 9:23, I call bullshit. Living in a rent stabilized apartment is not akin to receiving a government handout. And I'm so sick and tired of you millennial yuppies spilling sour grapes all over the place. Gotta pay $4k a month ? Too freakin' bad. Nobody broke your arm to sign the lease. Resent the long time tenants ? Easy fix... see ya...

I think you missed the sarcasm. The poster was mocking Fox News.

9.23 here. My "socialist" take on housing here was being ironic. Any right winger would call any housing governed by the NYS RS law as “socialist” at a minimum. OK? I’m a long time resident here as well, my father was a WW II combat veteran. I'm a strong supporter of the RS law.

@May 4, 2013 at 4:50 PM, sorry I couldn't detect the sarcasm. My apologies.

See how much trouble Bloomberg's causing around here and he's not even involved this time! LOL! (Joke, folks!)

I don't like what Bloomberg has done to give developers rights over tenants, but I don't think engaging in Alex Jones style journalism is going to give this blog any credibility.

Anonymous said...

So you think that quoting those hard core journalists at the puffington post is an insult to Fox news? You aren't smart enough to see the joke is on you!

Anonymous said...

But this isn't Alex Jones type of journalism. Alex Jones is a whacko, with no sense of humor. STR is not a whacko and he has a great sense of humor. Sadly, that can't be said for some of the people who post on this blog.
