Town & Village's Promo Puff Article on the New Public Safety Office

.... I'm still trying to get myself off the floor after reading a front page T & V article on the new Public Safety office, which seems not to have been written by a journalist (sorry, Sabina), but by a representative for CWCapital.

More to come, once I recover.

Puff article about the ice rink, 2 clueless tenants quoted for the Oval Cafe article. And now this. Very concerned.

I'm still floored. This article has to be the most one-sided promotional piece for CW and Crew that I've seen. I don't think anything I write about it will do justice to what an unabashed press release this seems from CW.

And the article just doesn't cover the Public Safety office, but quality of life issues, which, according to the article, are all under control via Public Safety. So, folks, there's no real problem with noisy neighbors or with banned dog breeds being walked about the complex.

Of note: Both CWCapital spokesman Brian Moriarty and CWCapital Asset Manager Andrew Cain were present when Public Safety Chief Bill McClellan was interviewed by Sabina.

No mention of tenants' dismay at the intrusive presence of the new office, which mandated the removal of more greenery at the Oval and more of its destruction or the suffering endured by tenants living adjacent to construction and their future potential pain in living so close to an active large office.

"McClellan said residents have been giving overwhelmingly positive feedback about the department's more central location and the easier access to the officers." Understandable that McClellan would say this, but doesn't Sabina read the TA Facebook and this blog? Wouldn't a fair, impartial article mention the disagreement with McClellan's cheery, promotional view?

Both the Town & Village articles on the management office (in 2013 and 2014) were clearly co-written by the TA and CW. Reread them side by side and you will see.

Its not a real newspaper. It is a press release. Nothing more.

More people read STR than Town & Village! Why? Its more truthful!

The second article on the management offices 2nd meeting was delayed a few days because T&V co-wrote it allowing editing, omitting and writing by the the property developers DG CW TA. A lot of information that would normally appear if an objective journalist wrote it was blatantly missing.

"Oak trees take a long time to grow. They suffer through every season of the year many times over. Finally they become stable. When an oak tree grows it's there for generations to enjoy."

A well written borrowed quote. This would hold true in PCVST if Paul Cenzoprano and Tom Feeney didn't kill and trash PCVST Oak Trees. Let's not leave out Susan Steinberg who "concedes" a few trees will be killed.

Pitiful and Pathetic.

It's not that the TA co-writes articles, but that T&V goes to the TA for quotes, sometimes extensive quotes. I don't have a problem with that.

Generally, T&V tries to go for some kind of balance. The current article on the Public Safety office has no balance. I've written press releases, and this is a fine example of one. Sabina and T&V should be ashamed.

I don't know if the T&V really considers itself a newspaper. It does seem as if it's a venue for press releases. But it also shows a bias toward Garodnick & the TA. Unfortunate. At its blog the comments often reflect tenant diversity much more than T&V content.

Another lawyers take on the plan all along to evict 3/4 of PCVST tenants and to steal from tenants our hard fought Roberts judgement with a weakass settlement (but they built in 30 - 60 day notice to tragedy of home loss hitting) win in the courts. PCVST CW et al lawyers who knew and helped throw away a perfectly good judgement and throw out perfectly good families from their homes. Too disgusting.

page 6 of this document tells why other investors had CW by the balls (diminutive balls as an earlier post pointed out) and squeezed CW before bowing out of the bid.

Seems like Andrew Cain and Brian Moriarty and their gaggle are being affected by the truth coming out on the STR blog so they are going into mass cover-up PR spin mode.

Spin Spin Spin

I hope they spiral downward drowning in their spin.

10:06 agree. Problem is when the T&V press-release articles get picked up by actual newspapers or the AP. It is misleading. Very Murdoch-ian.

There are zero, I repeat, zero TA comments regarding this 3/27/2014 T&V article, “New command center offers better access to Public Safety. Where did you get the Susan Steinberg quote from? “Let's not leave out Susan Steinberg who "concedes" a few trees will be killed.“ It’s not in both management office T&V articles, the links which I provided below. Full disclosure, I am a grunt TA volunteer, I am not a TA Board member. I am also very concerned regarding the recent pro management tilt that the T&V has taken. “The second article on the management offices 2nd meeting was delayed a few days because T&V co-wrote it allowing editing, omitting and writing by the the property developers DG CW TA.” And this, “Both the Town & Village articles on the management office (in 2013 and 2014) were clearly co-written by the TA and CW. “ Your proof on these charges? This constant posting that Daniel Garodnick = TA = CWC = CR is going into the Teabagger “Benghazi“ world. The STR has posted his view about Daniel Garodnick which I mostly agree with, his critique is reasonable. It was very unfortunate that the TA felt it had to “edit” the person who posted the STR management office construction ink on the TA FB page so it’s perfectible understandable why the STR has severed any TA promotion at his blog. It was a major TA faux pas . Also, anyone who posts here and has not read Charles Bagli’s “Other People’s Money”, really needs to read the book to get at least a balanced look at Daniel Garodnick, the history of our community, and the RE industry vortex that has sent this community into its current death spiral.

Why the T&V decision to put the puff piece in the paper but not online blog?

I can't see anyone, except the real estate boys, not getting angry while reading this.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

>>Daniel Garodnick = TA = CWC = CR<<

For the record, I see no evidence of this. I only see the TA and Dan as pushing for a tenant take-over of this complex and, because of that, possibly not instigating a lawsuit against CW/CR that would tie-up a sale of the complex in the near future. In other words, they don't want another Roberts case that would tarry in the courts for years.

"Of note: Both CWCapital spokesman Brian Moriarty and CWCapital Asset Manager Andrew Cain were present when Public Safety Chief Bill McClellan was interviewed by Sabina."

This is standard operating procedure in the corporate world. Only certain people are authorized to talk to the media and often only with a professional publicist present. That controls the message and image the company wants to give (which makes sense from the company's point of view). Good journalists know how to get what they want, though.

Of course they were present, they didn't want Sean Sullivan Town Hall Part 2!

Is so hard to tell any of these people apart anymore. Even I can't.

No one seems to be fighting for the tenants but the tenants themselves.

"No one seems to be fighting for the tenants but the tenants themselves."

That's because there ISN'T anyone fighting for the tenants. That's why this blog is so important. It's all we have. Thank you STR.

Stuy Town Reporter said...

Thank you, but others are also fighting for this complex, in their own way, either as a group or individually. And, yes, I include the TA, despite my occasional differences with them and their plans.
