Our landlord, BLACKSTONE, can't handle Stuy Town and Peter Cooper Village. There is a lack of enforcement of certain "rules," and no amount of notice to this alleviates the problems. We are continually being told half-truths and fabrications. And we have no viable Tenants organization, despite our TA asking for dues all the time. So far, the politicians have proven to be basically useless. A typical New York story.

Could it have been you got there too early for the playground to be open? If it doesn't open until 8 am, that will stymie some people who want to use a Citibike to get to work or appointments. However, the fact remains that they don't belong in a playground, they are a violation of zoning rules and that Blackstone doesn't give a rat's ass about the City's laws and statutes and cares even less about the quality of life and wishes and needs of the majority of the residents here. Rick is no more than a tin-pot dictator who wears a phony smile on his face when he lying right into your face.
I miss the days when this was a well-run residential apartment complex instead of the badly-run miscellany of money-making ventures that few of us want plus the crappy, laughable "entertainment."

Yes, the gate is not locked after 7 in morning with key card access. Says so. And, at least now (about 7:45pm), the gate is really not locked at all. The light below for key card access is green and unchanging. Which means anyone can enter this playground.
Nothing about the Shittybikes in T&V. What a management-controlled rag that has become! It was always pro-landlord and anti-tenant when it came to clashes between the two parties, but these days it prints only what Management allows it to print.
It is just a matter of time before we get the Oval Brothel. Another "amenity" for sure. Wait, Friends in Security have told me that are a number of "working girls" already. From their apartments, low key and discreet. A number of tenants have complained. But Security has been told to keep quiet if they want to keep their jobs. What say you, Tenants Association?

I feel sorry for Security these days. They have been pretty much stripped of all enforcement powers. If Management knows about these "working girls" and threatens Security in such a manner, it makes me wonder what Management's connection is to these "working girls?" Kickbacks from their "earnings?" or could senior members of Management be part of their clientele. Don't understand why Religious Rick would allow such business on the property he manages. We need a little investigative reporting on this subject.

That is absolutely correct. There are many people here who are not the tenants of record. Tenants make arrangements to sublet, lend and borrow apartments and a steady stream of roommates moves in and out. Many also use AirBnB to rent out their apartments or use less formal platforms to rent out their flats or rooms in their flats. Management cannot keep track and doesn't even try. So long as the dollars are coming in from those apartments, Management couldn't care less who and where they are coming from. What used to be a safe community is anything BUT that now. I don't blame Security. I think they do a very good job considering the restraints that are put on them by Management, who really doesn't want to know what's going on so long as it doesn't cause bad publicity or lose them money. It is what it is. And let's not forget what goes on behind closed doors may include a meth factory - which is probably what was behind the suicide and near deaths of EMTs a couple of years ago when Sulphuric Acid Boy bid us goodbye.
Well that Key Card isn't working that well at Playground 9. This morning, there was a PS guard nearby, but the gate wouldn't open when it was supposed to. I will check later, but it wouldn't surprise me to see a green light permanently on.

There's an AirBnB on my floor. Creepy-looking guys and lots of different people who don't speak a word of English and come and go with airline baggage.

I wonder which insurance company they have? AIG? After the girl who was sexually assaulted and almost murdered during a ten-minute struggle right under a "security" camera only to be saved by a tenant who happened on the scene; the sulphuric acid freak who almost killed two EMT workers and whose neighbors had to be evacuated in order to save their lives, and the countless other incidents caused by the gross negligence and culpability of this vile shit of a landlord, some insurance company is pulling in big premiums.

Speyer unleashed an army of private investigators and eviction attorneys attempting to boot thousands of PCVST residents out of their homes via bad-faith legal actions supported by false non-primary residency allegations and conjured up evidence.
It would take 5 minutes to shut down this illegal PCV hotel. It would take just 1 private investigator just 1-2 months to shut down all the illegal hotels operating in PCVST. That will not happen because Blackstone does not give a flying fu#k about the security and QOL of legitimate PCVST residents.
Fred Knapp used to be a private investigator who worked for landlords who wanted tenants evicted for illegal activities or occupation. Since he came to work here (doing who knows what?) he seems to have lost his mojo.

We have had exceptionally long, friendly, talks at the Oval "Office" during the summer, and on the streets of this once-welcoming-home-turned-slum. We had one quite recently.
This, after he has repeatedly also threatened me with legal action based upon preposterous lies. And been questioned about the threats and assertions. And deftly turned them. And/or continued lying. He's not big on confrontations, gentle or harsh, about his behaviors.
(Someone [decent] who works here informed me that "legal action" is a method used here to silence those who complain and demand the services and conditions for which they are paying money.
I worked for some of the biggest of the big law firms in this city in another lifetime. Many of the lawyers were . . . well ... good manners forbid me from accurately characterizing them.
Fred hasn't lost his touch. He's still Fred. I never could, and still cannot, determine how much is lies and how much is some other moral or mental failing.

Since then, I have spoken to all of the people in management. I don't have a personal problem with them, but I do have a problem with the way this place is run.
The Key Card does not work until the playground itself is open. I've seen various people with Key Cards trying to open the gate in the morning, including my own. Doesn't work. Not surprising, is it?
What, precisely, needs to occur for people to finally get the hell up and take action?

Keith Powers wrote a good letter to Hayduk concerning the Citi Bike stand in Playground 9 He touched on some valid points, but failed to address the violation of the zoning laws for commercial enterprises. No politician has ever gone there - must be a reason.
Powers can write all the letters in the world. He has done nothing about the summer noise pollution and nothing to help the freezing tenants over the winter. He is pardon the pun, powerless .
I'm sure Peter W. wrote the letter from Powers to Rick and Rick approved it beforehand. Powers doesn't have the balls to stand up to Rick. "Powerless", little man for sure.
Yet we continue to vote for politicians like Powers and DeBlasio because they have the “D” next to their name, but we know very well what they are capable of- destruction. People need to start voting on things other than Red or Blue and look at what these people bring to the table - you might be surprised. I’m a “D” but I ask myself every day if those “R” politicians for mayor and council member would have been worse than Powers or DeBlasio. I think the answer is no.

The playground hours are different than the Citibike hours. Access to the Citibike should start at 7:30, but I will check again.
